Hello! It's me Ray!

So today our lesson is going to be starting conversations with strangers.

Now, "Why?" do you ask? 「

Because it's fun meeting new people and having conversations with them.

Now when and where can you use this type of conversation?

Perhaps if you're in a bar, restaurant, cafe etc..

Imagine you're in a bar and sitting next to you is a stranger.

could be an attractive male or female perhaps.

Or just somebody you feel like talking to.

This is the setting that we are going to use for this lesson.

Okay now here is a conversation example.

Alright? So you will be "Person A".

and I will be "Person B".

Ok? So, let's go!

Okay now "A", repeat after me.

Hey, how's it going? 「

Alright! Great!

Now you say,

Alright! Excellent!

Now I say,

Now you say,

That's it! That's it! You got it. Great! Great!

Okay, now let's practice a real conversation.

Again, you will be "Person A" and I will be "Person B".

Ok? So let's start!

。。。。

Pretty good how about you?

。。。。

Oh, I'm Ray. Nice to meet you.

。。。。

Um, yeah... sometimes. How about you?

。。。。

Got that?

Alright. Great! Excellent. Good job!

Okay so today's lesson was again "Starting a Conversation with Strangers"

So basically what you learned today was really just a beginning of a conversation.

Because of course it continues on longer.

So I hope that this lesson helped you a little bit.

So keep practicing at home and good luck everybody.

See you next time. Bye!

A Dog's Snout — Tidbits - Duration: 2:10.

Dogs really are man's best friend.

Hey, Changi, you wanna come over here?

C'mon, c'mon, come over here.

Come on, come on.

Ahhh hello!

I'd like you to meet Changi.

But most importantly, why is it when you talk to dogs, they cock their head?

Dogs came about because early humans formed a sort of symbiotic relationship with wolves

and we slowly domesticated them to turn them into these big sooks.

And because they are man's best friend, we've trained them to respond to their name.

Hey Changu, come here, come here Changu.

C'mon!

And it's because of this relationship we have with our dogs that a lot of people notice

that when they look at you, they cock their head slightly.

Now is this just to be really adorable, or is there some actual purpose to it?

Now what one study found - now admittedly, this was a survey and not an actual scientific

study - but what it found was dogs with longer faces, with bigger snouts, tend to be more

likely to cock their heads.

Now why would that be?

Here's a little experiment for you.

Take a fist, and put that fist on your nose: so now you've got a snout, much like a dog.

Now take a look at someone next to you - what can you see?

Most likely, you can see their eyes, but not their mouth when they talk.

Now, still with that fist in the same position, tilt your head.

What can you see now?

When you tilt your head, your stereo vision can now see around your snout, thanks to your

peripheral vision.

This gives a pretty good clue as to why dogs cock their faces in the first place: it's

to see their owner's mouths.

Now clearly we don't know why dogs do this.

It may be to aid with understanding, or it may be being able to see body language and

facial expressions, the same way you can differentiate a smile and a snarl.

This episode was written by me, Nathan Chapman.

I don't have a camera operator this week.

Thank you very much to Changu here for helping me out, and for Tegan Chapman and the McRaes.

Dogs want to lick when you get out of the shower because of their natural instinct to

lick and clean their pups.

Now I want to say thanks so much for watching, and please hit subscribe, it really helps out the show.
