hey guys it's Stephaie welcome back to my
channel Lindy stitches I want to make a
video today but I have literally
organized nothing I have no WIPS in
front of me I just wanted to start and
get the ball rolling. I tried to make
another update video on two separate
occasions and long story short I think
I'm just too much of a perfectionist and
so I am very self-critical and if one if
one little thing comes out of my mouth
incorrectly I tend to restart or later
on the side to completely destroy the
video and I don't know I I'm just in
this weird phase and I had to just
remind myself that the people that I
most enjoy and appreciate are the ones
that are honest and vulnerable and they
just do the video. it seems like they just
do the video and so I just need to chill
out and just do the video so hi how are
you?
a lot of things have happened since my
last update I I got appendicitis did you
know you can die if your appendix burst
I didn't know that. like
if your appendix bursts the the infection
that spreads through your body can kill
you like yes in this modern day and age
you can die from that and thankfully
mine did not burst my husband forced me
to go to the emergency room I did not
have the typical symptoms and so I was
going to be stubborn and wait until to...
my camera just shut off so naturally I
would just restart that whole thing. also
seeing my hair's freaky what is it doing?
hi this is real life Steph I was going
to be stubborn and because it was the
weekend because I hate going to the
emergency room I was going to wait till
my doctor's office opened again but my
husband forced me to go in and then
later that day had to have surgery so
you know your life is chaotic and crazy
when a hospital visit feels like a
little vacation because it totally did
other people cooked for me other people
took care of me I got to watch like 12
episodes of 'say yes to the dress' we
don't have cable and so whenever I have
the opportunity to chill out with some
cable I'm always just fascinated with
junk television yes say yes to the
dress a completely stupid show about
young women wasting their parents life
savings on really expensive wedding
gowns so that was a total blast and then
I came home and I was a beached whale
because when they do laparoscopic
surgery they blow your abdomen full of
air so I sat around looking
like I was seven months pregnant and
cross-stitched and because of that I was
able to touch all my WIPS in a very
significant way
recently I was not thinking about how
there's always new people joining
flosstube
and our lingo is really weird so I was
able to be with all my works in progress
and because I wasn't very mobile for a
little bit I made a lot of progress. so
right now because I decided to do this
video impromptu I am going to go collect
those things and we'll be right back.
okay first I'm going to show you my
finishes so I did not have stitch mania
at my house I had finished mania I told
you in my last video how I had a big
pile of things I finished and I didn't
feel good about it I wanted to be able
to actually enjoy my finishes and so I
finished four things I'm going to show
you three um the fourth is a
collaboration with another person so I
cant show it to yet but it feels so good
to have some um some of that pile
diminished I have a few more to do but a
couple of them are waiting for good
reasons
and one I tried to finish but I just
couldn't I couldn't get there. so here's
what I was able to accomplish I will
show you my biggest one first
it's my giant Harry Potter sampler big
thanks to Davina at Mamula I will link
her channel down below she was so
helpful and helping me think through my
options and a couple of couple other of
you answered some of my questions just
so thankful
for cross stitching friends who just drop what
they're doing to answer your silly
cross-stitch questions you're all so
kind my big question for this finish was
whether to frame it or make it into a
wall hanging custom framing is not
something I was willing to do for this
piece I have three kids that need to go
to college at some point and I didn't
want to pay for that. Hobby Lobby does
have some build yourself frames so you
basically buy the lengths and the width
and they have pretty big pieces so I
could make and other people have
finished it that way too
you can make a custom frame at
Hobby Lobby. you buy the pieces and you
like screw them together yourself but of
course because you're making your
own size
it doesn't come with backing or glass
you have to figure all that out yourself
I didn't want to do that I didn't want
to hassle with it so I decided to go
with the wall hanging option I'm so glad that
I did. thanks to Davina it
turned out a lot better than my first
wall hanging my Brooks books advent
animals. it hangs nicer it looks cleaner
it's really how I prefer it so let me
show it to you I'll stand back so you
can see the whole thing but my camera is
not going to automatically focus so
sorry about that
here is cloud factory giant Harry Potter
sampler I really like how this turned
out I really really like how this turned
out it hangs nicely I finally have the
right weight of fusible interfacing
which I just put on the backing piece so
this is just the pillow method where you
use so your little strips to the main
piece and then you sew it inside out and
turn it around and but what I think is
genius is these corner triangles that
Davina I don't know if she made this up
but this is what she suggested to do and
this is just a dowel rod with one of
those little hooks put in it now I
should have painted this black but I'm
really bad at doing like the very last
little pesky step in a project system is
a very last little pesky step and I
haven't done yet so I think this is
wonderful and I have had this hanging in
a really weird doesn't go there spot in
my living room right where I can stare
at it in my sticky spot and it's
gorgeous it's fun i I adore it and you
know what when all is said and done I am
glad that I did this I know I gave this
project a lot of rap with being boring
and it was boring to stitch and it
wasn't always fun but I love the end
result the other night we had a neighbor
boy over one of my son's friends and he
saw this hanging in the living room and
they went through every single character
to name who they were and truth be told
I don't I can't remember who all these
people are supposed to be down here
there's a few like
there's a few people I don't know but it
was just so gratifying to sit there and
see them like just pick it apart piece
by piece so we will have the Hunger
Games bloodbath decision of what kid
room to hang that in later okay so then
I framed two of my other finishes the
first one is my Margaret sherry festive
Friends piece that I finished last year
around Christmastime this this is just
what I mean I don't know how this could
be any more adorable and it's all
Margaret sherry has nothing to do with
me look at this this is just I love us
so much I think I'm going to hang this
up and just leave it up to winter I do
like that this is not a specifically
Christmas piece you can hang it up all
winter to so many so many winter things
incorporate Christmas and then once
January and February comes around you
kind of get tired of them but I adore
this all the info for all my stuff will
be down below if you're wondering about
titles patterns or fabrics or whatever
the next piece is antique Celtic sampler
by Elizabeth's needlework design
again gorgeous and we write this is the
perfect frame I kind of thought about
this isn't really my house style um also
my friends are white I like very clean
is there's a lot of wood in this room
but this room is really the only room
that looks like this where I have like
these wooden dressers and they match the
wooden floors but the rest of my house
is kind of like cottage style is that
what you would call it I don't know I'm
a decorator so most of my friends are
are white or gold this is a lot darker
than I usually go but this just fits
this piece so well so I'm very happy
with that okay I don't know if you
noticed I just have to say this just in
case you did like yes this is what the
back of my finished framed pieces look
like why because I haven't put the glass
in yet and so I didn't seal it up and
that's the reason I put the glass in and
yeah okay so they're not SSOs they're
two steps from being ffos okay I want to
show you my WIPs now the first one I
will show you is a mother and child by
Julia Karen's this is a Maya UK
cross-stitch kit a lot of people have
asked me how to get this can't be BAE I
mean it's no longer being produced I
don't think but you don't see it or the
other there are other Julia Karen's kits
done by Maya you don't see them hardly
ever on the United States ebay you might
want to look on the UK eBay or find some
UK friends that could put like search
search notifications on that buy it for
you and send it to you that's my best
option that's my best guess of how you
could get it
so they're working on the yellow
background which I thought would be very
pesky and tedious I'm actually really
enjoying it it's very relaxing and I
don't know if it's just been so long
side is something sort of full coverage
that I'm actually enjoying it or I don't
know what it is I just really pretty and
down here you're hardly ever you're
hardly going to be able to see it and
you can see that on the art so yeah I
mean super light you it's hard to see
but it's so pretty and like I said it's
relaxing so I'm thankful for that
because I do want I want to finish this
piece I'm glad I'm enjoying it the next
time I will show you is Song of Solomon
ship sampler by Robin Millia this is
like my dessert piece this is a piece
that I drag out when I want to have like
super cross stitch fun
oh gosh you know sometimes sentences
come on your mouth and you're like how
did I get to be such a dork this is what
it's going to look like I finished all
the back stitch on the ship the ship
does have some flags that I started to
put in but haven't finished and then I
started the lettering here's how it's
looking I'm finally I feel liberated
with this piece it's finally getting so
dense with stitching that the color
decisions mean less or they're less
important does that make any sense when
I was doing the border I was agonizing
over taking the next color and I ripped
out a few colors and honestly I could
have left them in because this piece is
going to be so full that the color
decisions they're less noticeable I'm
not making any sense I don't know if I
am for example
I'm kind of personalizing it with the
United States flag and the Ethiopian
flag the Ethiopian flag has red bright
yellow and light bright bright grass
green in it no I didn't incorporate
those colors are you Jamie like that
does not fit the jewel tones that I was
going for at all before I put this
lettering in that flag took out like a
sore thumb and I almost ripped it out
but I thought no just keep filling
things in and I put a needle liner over
it because I couldn't even look at it
and now it doesn't stick out at all it's
going to get so busy that so fun I
that's my dessert piece and I I am in no
hurry to finish it because that's how
much I enjoy working on it
I haven't had a piece like that in a
while um so I'm glad my since at that
point my necks whip is and a forest grew
by rosewood Manor it looks like this
please don't mind the kids screaming
outside they're happy screams I only
have a page and a half left on this
pattern I started this pattern in July
of last year and I didn't anticipate
finishing it within a year and I
wouldn't if I had kept with my schedule
of one page a month um but with my big
project I get to about 85 percent
completion and then I can't help it I
have to I set up stuff to the end and so
that's what I think I'm going to do on
this one and just finish it off it's a
bit wrinkly because I just took it off
of my elapsed and black hairs with
this has been a delight I I love this
pattern I retarted the verse in the
middle and there's a tree on the
bottom-right that I reach arted I wonder
is anything wrong with how its
originally charted but I have a verse I
absolutely love the talks about trees
from the Bible
I think it's isaiah 55:10 but I could be
wrong I will read it to you it says you
will go out and joy and be led forth in
peace the mountains and the hills will
burst into song before you and all the
trees of the field will clap their hands
as a lot gorgeous and then the little
tree I retarted with a little verse from
revelation that says behold I am making
all things new
so those are two verses that talk about
the end of time when all things will be
made right and wonderful so I am willing
to share my rechart
with anybody who already owns the
pattern I used Karen Clube a--'s
alphabet from the middle to write out my
verse so I don't want to freely give it
out to anyone who loss it for some weird
reason but if you own the pattern and
you're willing to I don't know send me a
picture of your whip or a picture of
your copy of the pattern or something
that shows that you own the pattern I
would be happy to toss along the chart
for the two trees that I reach arted so
just I don't know contact me with
Instagram or Facebook
oh I wanted to show you my favorite part
so far for some reason I really love
this area right here under the tree this
right here I think it's the colors too
but the grey bunnies and that peach tree
or whatever it is so pretty I love that
this tree took me forever this one right
here it just had so many little tiny
specks of color throughout it that it
was so much pin stitching and finishing
off in the back let's see my back I'll
show you my backside the text I ended up
doing letter by letter which is so I
don't know that I'd necessarily needed
to do that I probably could do it word
by word but I just did one strand for
each letter and it was a pain but it
makes it really clean on the front
because this is on white I don't think
you know on what you have to be extra
careful about trailing threads because
they will show through to the front side
and I just didn't want to take a chance
so hopefully next time you see it will
be done my latest new star is my travel
project I like to have a project that I
do on ADA so that I can work on it in a
car or in doctors offices or somewhere
where I don't need a giant chart or
don't need special lighting to be able
to see this was a surprise to me but
when I'm looking for a project to do on
ADA I'm kind of people I'm thinking
about everything I'll just be honest but
you know there's certain charts that I
have that I can stitch but I pictured
them unevenly or whatever so I started a
what is this called seeds of freedom by
Silver Creek samplers this is the Civil
War hangover piece that I bought after I
finished Gone with the Wind didn't think
I would ever actually stitch it because
I am NOT a huge fan of scarlet and navy
blue which are American colors not that
I'm not patriotic those are just not my
favorite colors so I'm trying to take a
just bend it to make myself happy so I
am doing this I don't know it's a piece
of hand dyed green it's like a 17 cow
ADA that Chris Garber sent me and I just
tried to skew the colors the Landy
stitches way so the red that I'm using
is one of my I'm going to use red fan
but I really liked the Reds and that
tell that British telephone that
telephone box I always want to call it a
telephone box it's a post box in the
festive friends they were these Coralie
Reds so pretty so I'm using one of those
I just have a mix of stuff that's a
possibility see these are my thread
colors
the clothes to print style so we'll see
how that turns out next I have one
finish to show you that it's not SF ode
but I recently finished it and it is on
the Pussycat from preschoolers fables
and tales pamphlet I'm making this for a
baby who has not been created yet so
that's why it's waiting here's how it
turned out I love it I obviously picked
my own colors I dyed my own Aida
just dip dyed it I dyed it aqua and then
dip dyed it for a water line I'm going
to stick this in the camera and then
noisily focus the camera okay there it
is the owl is a pussycat adorbs right um
yeah I just thought of dorbz that's just
completely nerdy um I gave the owl
guitar that was an idea I got from Aaron
Wallis she is another member of stitch
Vania on Facebook so she let me copy
that I gave the pussycat a hair bow and
some eyelashes because I have to
obsessively eyelash everything that is
feminine I just love this
I did it all Indian transaction except
for the boat color that is a color and
cotton called meadow and if you like the
colors I will go ahead and lift them
down below
I was excited that a few you went and
read the owl in the Pussycat poem that
was very gratifying by Edward Lear who
turns out was not an American I made
that up in my last video and you know
like every other amazing awesome thing
he was British okay that's all the stuff
I worked on so it's time for all
Shenandoah by carriage house samplings
bought this on a whim now it's in my
collection and I'm like I get weird
whims sometimes and usually I wait a
wait I said I'm really picky so I'll put
something on my wish list and I just let
it sit there for a long time because I
know I get in whim and I shouldn't buy
things when I'm in a whim but it's hard
to tell sometimes so sometimes just buy
things and then I hope with ocean and
doula I think it's adorable I'm just not
sure why I bought it um it has the
lyrics of the well-known American fall
Oh Shenandoah
I want you I really hope that no one I
actually know in real life watches these
videos um ocean and Dilla
I long to hear you away you rollin river
ocean and Doha I long to hear you away
I'm bound away across the wide Missouri
next up I I got my Margaret sherry stash
going here's the first thing I added to
my collection the coffee carrots just
wait just play Adele have you seen this
pattern have you seen it you see that
it's a kitty bum sticking out of a
coffee cup okay yep let all this stuff
down below you don't really care do you
cross stitch or some issue from some
other time actually like this little
fairy guy
which is weird cuz I don't usually like
the fairy patterns but I think it's
pretty cute I got it for this one up
here this one is not a cat pattern
shockingly like I should have marked
those so they didn't I saw this pattern
stitched on Instagram Instagram is
usually the culprit for most of my
pattern buying look look at these mice
they are sailing in nut shells how
adorable is that
I love the reflections in the water
I love for some reason I don't know it's
the weird details that get me I love
that the spouses tail is in the water
why I don't know so cute and this this
picture is bigger than the pattern turns
out the pattern is really is pretty tiny
61 by 159
you'd get that done in a day do I need
to say anything
cats it's the cat you get me every time
this one has a zillion French knots in
it which I love
look that there's nothing to sight
I bought some fabric for my shadowing
you want to see it you can't even see it
it's like a topi gray I don't even know
it's kind of purply kind of brown kind
of gray I don't yeah I don't know my
shadow lean yes I keep from staring at
the pattern like it's so sort of weird
hobby and I have two minds about it
sometimes I want to tackle it sometimes
I'm like what are you thinking let's
just back off um so I don't know I'm
Charles started on a whim one day and
maybe I'll regret it and maybe able we
shall see oh my okay now I have to show
you my cat my cat is very strange
he lays in the weirdest positions ever
he is a source of constant comedy around
this house because he's so weird I've
never owned a cat like this all my other
cats have ways been very particular kind
of skittish you know if you start
messing with them too much they're like
out of there because that's how cats are
this cat is like a noodle that's that's
the best way I can describe them he is
like a noodle I'll show them to you
right now he's right there
that's what he's doing that's how he's
playing Oh see I caught you I caught you
No oh my gosh what is it with cat did
you see that
did you see his cat project radar just
flip off Oh what is it with cats
he's sleeping and that he knows there's
a project to lay on I once saw this
video on Facebook where someone made a
cat trap just by putting masking tape
and a square on the ground and the cat
saw the square and satins square I'm so
much truth I know he's pad oh yeah well
anyway so from my last video Andrea
stitches in Colorado 1d here there be
monsters pattern I chose it randomly I
put it on Instagram a few talked about
story how she enjoyed her care package
thank you for all of your hilarious
never have I ever
comments um so many of them made me
literally laugh out loud you guys are so
much fun and the comments are are really
worth forcing myself to do this thing of
talking to camera about cross stitch
which feels so weird at times still two
years later it still feels completely
weird so thank you for being so
wonderful and positive and lovely and
fun I hope that I could can make another
video soon I will see you on Instagram
I'm at Lindy stitches and my store is at
Lindy stitches calm bye guys
