Waching daily May 3 2017

the nice thing about this webcam, is the

quality is not so good. So, from a

distance, my skin just looks so like

lovely but if we go a little closer,

you'll see the truth of my rashy-ness!!

Hello there. Hello, lovely peoples. I'm Michele

this is my wheelchair, Betty. And you're watching

Rebelwheels NYC. Today I an... whoops! Today I am

wearing a baggy sweatshirt. [sings] baggy baggy baggy baggy baggy!

why are you wearing a baggy sweatshirt? I'm wearing a baggy

sweatshirt 'cus today I am in pain and when you

are in pain, you don't want things that are

touching your skin because your skin is

that sensitive. ah! Meow meow meow meow meow. meow meow meow meow meow!

So, although often with my spine... issues are sometimes dismissed,

Well, it's weird. Like if I go to a chiropractor or

spine surgeon, they're like yeah you have spine issues, and that's part of why you're in a

wheelchair. Uh, but then I go to other doctors [Neurologists] are like "pft. that's nothing."

[sings] what's the fuck do you do with that? I don't fucking know. Hey!

I tend to lean towards people who say it's part of it

because I know my body. Uh, sometimes I

will lose all or like like 75% feeling in

my spine and when that happens,

shit gets stiff. dance interlude.

I get very stiff and I can't really move that well or

sometimes no, not at all and then what happens and is happening today is

Sometimes I regain feeling in my spine

and all my limbs and so on one hand

[sings] moving all fluid-y

Um, then what happens is that the feeling that I regain is one of pain.

and so I find the only thing that does

alleviate some of the pain, is moving

around! So then what I like to do, is

I put on some music and I do a little interpretive dance!

[sings] I need some motherfucking music... so I can dance!

[dance music starts] Dance with me. If you can. If not, dance within.

And then we'll dance together!

Ha ha! Dee dee! Do do do do do do do

Shit's about to get spastic. Alright. Bending my legs, and moving my

legs in a very fluid way, typically does not

happen, but then it does, and then you have to

dance to alleviate the pain and then your body gets spastic again.

So many people do not understand my

spasticity. Like either it's a fixed

thing or is not legit, it's not valid and now, and I'm like no, it can be fluid.

It's called Ataxia. [slow motion] It's called Ataxia...

I don't know. Do you know? Leave a comment in the comment section, 'cus that's where they belong.

Thanks for watching. bye!

7 Common Fears That Don't Have To Control Us - Duration: 13:12.

7 Common Fears That Dont Have To Control Us

Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learned here. ~Marianne Williamson

As babies, we know nothing about the world. In the universe of an infant, there are no

norms to follow, no rigid rules and regulations; no room for labeling or judging ourselves

and others. We dont yet know to disapprove of ourselves, and were curious to play,

learn, and grow.

We are all born free spirits. Then our environmentour families, schools, religions, and political

systemsshape the way we think and behave.

Fear is a learned practice. Children generally are not afraid of trying, failing, and getting

up on their feet again. Thats how we learned to walk. When we made our first step, we didnt

call ourselves names or punish ourselves if we fell. We just got up and gave it another

try.

As kids, we werent afraid to step outside of our comfort zone and try new experiences.

So why did we get so fearful as adults? What are we really afraid of?

1. The fear of imperfection

I often hear people talking about their need for perfection as a sign of virtue. In a society

that generally evaluates human worth through how well we do things in life, some people

even feel a sense of pride when they describe themselves as perfectionists or workaholics.

To me, perfectionism is a sign of fear. When I know I do everything perfectly, Im untouchable.

There is no room for others to correct me.

As a child, there were times when I was afraid of punishment after getting bad grades in

school. Years later, as an adult, I developed an extreme need for perfection, especially

at work. All my assignments had to be executed perfectly so none of my managers would have

a reason to criticize my performance. At the time, that fear of authority was still present

in my life.

People who struggle with perfectionism also tend to get overwhelmed because they avoid

asking for help. They would rather look invincible and strong than vulnerable and weak.

Showing up in our vulnerability in front of others is a sign of authenticity. Vulnerability

is not weakness; its a beautiful human attribute, and it takes lots of courage to

show what most of us have been taught for years how to hide.

Vulnerability is the birthplace of innovation, creativity, and change. ~Bren Brown

2. The fear of failure

I once read an article about successful people who were intentionally planning for failure.

I found that fascinating and strange. Planning to fail? Who likes to fail?

No one enjoys messing up, but those people were using mistakes as much needed instruments

to learn and grow.

Today I know that each time I am afraid to step outside of my comfort zone and try something

new, thats the fear of failure making decisions for me.

Each time I find myself stuck and afraid to take risks because I might fail, I ask myself:

Whats the worst thing that can happen? Could I cope if it did?

These questions help me realize that my life would surely go on, and that no mistake could

literally kill me.

The greatest mistake you can make in life is to be continually fearing you will make

one. ~Elbert Hubbard

3. The fear of success

Sometimes, success is scarier than failure. When dreams look too good to be true, we get

scared by our own greatness. Deep inside, we dont see ourselves as enough, and worthy

of love and success.

Whenever I make myself small or put myself down, I am acting on my fear, taking myself

for granted, and forgetting to appreciate myself for my achievements. Im thinking,

Anyone else could have made it or attributing my accomplishments to faith, luck, or other

people who gave me opportunities to shine. Im focusing on my weaknesses or limitations,

without honoring my strengths, gifts, and talents.

Thats how I operated in the past, for too many years. But heres what I know to be

true today: It wasnt luck; it was me.

Sometimes in life, we need to acknowledge theres been a lot of hard work and efforts

behind our luck. And if were not yet where wed like to be, we need to believe

that we truly are worthy of what we visualize.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond

measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves,

Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to

be? Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about

shrinking so that other people wont feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine,

as children do. ~Marianne Williamson

4. The fear of being rejected

Being liked and included and feeling a sense of belonging to a community are basic human

needs. We fear being left out and seek approval as a means to ensure this doesnt happen.

I can recall many situations in my life when I did things I didnt really want to do

to please others, like going to a movie with someone on a Sunday when my body wanted to

stay home and take a good nap.

I was a master of people pleasing and, to be honest, it wasnt always because I wanted

to make everyone happy. The truth is that I wanted people to like and approve of me.

I expected them to give me the things I wasnt giving myself: love, care, and attention.

Again, being loved is a human need. However, being needy is something different. I came

to understand that people who are taking good care of themselves are less dependent on the

approval of others.

Taking care of our own wants and needs is a necessity. When we make sure to keep our

tank full and we treat ourselves kindly, we inspire others to do the same for themselves.

I used to be a people-pleaser. Now I love them instead. ~Cheryl Richardson

5. The fear of what other people think

Did you know that the fear of public speaking comes first among all kinds of fears? Even

the fear of death comes second! Most people dont feel brave enough to show up in their

vulnerability in front of others because theyre focusing more on what people might think about

them than on their performance.

I can recall quite a few situations in my life when I didnt dare to ask questions,

especially when there was something I didnt know. I didnt want to look less intelligent

or even stupid.

Especially at work, I didnt feel comfortable enough to openly admit that I didnt hold

all the answers and I still had a lot to learn. I wanted people to perceive me as an expert,

super smart, invincible, and strong. I now know that every day brings new lessons in

the school of life, and its more important to stay open to them than it is to be perceived

as all-knowing.

Lets be honest with this one: Ive never met anyone who would love to hear they were

ugly or stupid. We all need to feel validated. But in the end, all that really matters is

that we fully approve of ourselves.

When I seek your approval, I dont approve of the me thats seeking the approval.

~Byron Katie

6. The fear of losing control

If there were Oscars for control-freaking, I would have surely gotten one! Looking back

on my past, I recognize that I always wanted to have full control over everything and everyone.

This comes back to the fear of imperfection.

During my former leadership position with a multinational company, the most difficult

things for me to handle were decision-making and delegationnot only with people who

were new in their roles and lacked experience, but also with co-workers who were very skilled

and competent in their jobs.

Why did I struggle with delegation? Because I knew I was responsible for my teams results,

and I wasnt mentally strong enough to bear any sort of failure on my shoulders.

Making mistakes would have scared me to death; thats why I always needed a long time to

brainstorm all possible scenarios that could go wrong when making important decisions.

The need to always control situations or other people is a major source of stress. It is

tiring, frustrating, energy consumingand pointless, since we can never control what

other people do. Letting go of control is true freedom and a form of self-care.

Be willing to stop punishing yourself for your mistakes. Love yourself for your willingness

to learn and grow. ~Louise Hay

7. The fear of what might happen in the future

If I spend my precious time overthinking and allowing my mind to create different scenarios

about the future, I risk missing out on my life and the only reality that is: the present

moment.

Most of the things we worry about never happen. They are nothing but the illusionary product

of our mind.

Its true, bad things do happen at times, but theyre often blessings in disguise

that make us stronger and wiser or show us the right path for us.

Looking back on my past, I recognize that I had to suffer in love so that I could understand

what I wanted from a romantic partner. I had to become unemployed for a while in order

to realize what I truly wanted from a profession and what would bring me joy and fulfillment.

Knowing that my painful experiences were actually gifts, and that I survived them, Im better

able to accept that what will be, will beand no matter what, I can handle it.

The best use of imagination is creativity. The worst use of imagination is worry. ~Deepak

Chopra

I have stopped feeling guilty and ashamed of my fears. Ive learned how to embrace

them with self-compassion, as part of the package of being human. I know the primary

intention of fear is to protect me from things that could hurt me. But I also know I dont

have to let my fears control me.

I am aware that I can always get mindful and pay attention to my thoughts and emotions.

I make sure that I nourish my mind, knowing that I am the one creating my own world through

my feelings, thoughts, and, actions.

A miracle is a shift in perception from fear to love. ~Marianne Williamson

And now, I would like to hear from you. What scares you the most? How do you manage your

own fears?

4 HUGE BENEFITS OF AN UNDISTURBED FIRST HOUR AFTER BIRTH - Duration: 5:25.

4 HUGE BENEFITS OF AN UNDISTURBED FIRST HOUR AFTER BIRTH

BY ALEXA ERICKSONMAY

The first hours after a baby is welcomed into the world may have short- and long-term consequences.

Evidence has shown that newborns who are placed skin to skin with their mothers immediately

after birth have better respiratory, temperature, and glucose stability, and significantly less

crying that stipulates less stress.

Because the first hour after birth is so momentous, we have named it The Sacred

Hour at our hospital, explains Raylene Phillips, MD.

What might the first moments after birth be like for the newborn infant?

If a fetus has been fortunate enough to spend his fully allotted 266 days in the womb since

conception, he has had the luxury of having all his emerging developmental needs met.

The uterus and the placenta have provided warmth, protection, nutrition and oxygen,

as well as close and continual proximity to the mothers heart and voice, Phillips

continues.

The unborn fetus finds the womb a natural habitat, and so, when entering the world after

birth, the mothers body and breasts take over the function of the uterus and placenta.

Along with providing such things as nutrition and warmth, the close proximity ensures protection

and familiarity to the mother.

The newborns new natural habitat is being skin to skin with the mother.

The benefits of skin-to-skin contact between a newborn infant and its mother have various

benefits, including improved physiologic stability for both mother and baby immediately following

birth, increased maternal attachment behaviors, protection against the negative effects of

maternalinfant separation, and more.

This is why its essential babies and their mothers receive an undisturbed first hour

immediately following birth.

There should be a warm blanket placed over both mother and baby to slow the production

of the adrenaline hormone in her to avoid interference with oxytocin and prolactin hormones

being produced.

The environment should be quiet.

Here are four things to keep in mind during the first hour after birth:

1.

Allow the baby to initiate breastfeeding

Though its common for caregivers to want to help with this special process by encouraging

the baby to latch onto the nipple, babies instinctually go to their mothers breast

to latch on if given the opportunity.

This is referred to as the breast crawl, which was first observed by Swedish researchers

in the 1980s.

2.

Permits body system regulation

Being skin to skin after birth allows the mother and baby to begin their bonding sooner.

Getting to know each other in a whole new way is a huge shift from the nine months prior,

and so meeting each other through this attachment allows for promotion of maternal behavior.

This is because oxytocin receptors in a womans brain increase during pregnancy, and when

her baby is born, she is more responsive

to this hormone.

12 THINGS YOU NEED TO ELIMINATE IMMEDIATELY - health - Duration: 17:47.

12 THINGS YOU NEED TO ELIMINATE IMMEDIATELY FOR BETTER HEALTH

Its no secret that human beings have adopted a lifestyle that doesnt really take health

into consideration, especially when we are talking about the large number of products

that we choose to surround ourselves with on a daily basis, many of which have serious

health concerns associated with them. Whats even more troubling is the fact that these

products are still approved as safe by government agencies despite all of the evidence clearly

showing serious cause for concern.

The list of concerning items can indeed be a long one, and again, when we are talking

about disease, there is a general and growing consensus in the scientific community that

many of these products are responsible for the exponential rise in various diseases that

plague us today, including cancer.

Here is a list of 10 things you should eliminate from your life for better health.

1. Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial sweeteners are everywhere, and two of the most common ones are aspartame

and sucralose (Splenda). These products have been linked to a number of diseases, such

as diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, and Alzheimers disease. They also promote obesity and disease

by disrupting your intestinal microflora. One of the largest studies of its kind recently

examined the link between diet drinks and cardiovascular issues, like heart attack and

stroke, in healthy, postmenopausal women. The research took place at the University

of Iowa, and the findings were presented at the American College of Cardiologys 63rd

Annual Scientific Session in Washington, D.C.

60,000 women participated in the study, and it found that women who consumed two or more

diet drinks a day are 30 percent more likely to experience a cardiovascular event, and

50 percent more likely to die from a related disease.

A study out of Arizona State University, published in the Journal of Applied Nutrition, determined

that Aspartame causes brain damage by leaving traces of Methanol in the blood . Another

study published in the U.S. National Library of Medicine determined that long-term consumption

of Aspartame leads to an imbalance in the antioxidant/pro-oxidant status in the brain

(source). Another study published by Washington Universitys Medical School outlines a possible

connection between aspartame and brain tumors.

2. Electronic Devices

Electronic devices and the radiation emitted by them is everywhere. Its not uncommon

for people to engage in activities (like smoking) and then decades later, become aware of the

consequences, and electronic devices like cell phones and WiFi signals are another great

example.

This is what the world would look like if cell phone radiation was visible.

Dr. Martin Blank, Ph.D., from the Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Colombia

University, has joined a group of scientists from around the world who are making an international

appeal to the United Nations regarding the dangers associated with the use of various

electromagnetic emitting devices, like cell phones and WiFi.

Multiple studies have revealed that cell phone radiation can cause cancer. Did you know that

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified radio frequency fields (including

those from cell phones) as a possible carcinogen in 2011 ? The dangers of cell phone use gained

a lot of mainstream credibility in 2011 when the World Health Organization (WHO) admitted

that cell phone radiation may cause cancer. The statement was based off of a cumulative

decision made by a team of 31 scientists, from 14 different countries, after reviewing

evidence that suggested this to be the case. You can read more about that here.

3. Pesticides

We recently published an article titled A Pregnant Woman Eating Organic Vs. Eating Conventinal:

Its Time To Think About Your Baby.

In the article, we explain the difference between organic food and conventional food,

as well as provide a number of sources and studies showing clear concern about the pesticides

sprayed on our food and in the surrounding environment.

These chemicals have been linked to birth defects, cancer, Alzheimers disease, Parkinsons

disease, autism and more. Using the Bradford Hill Criteria, the results of multiple studies

indicate that we have nudged ourselves into quite the dilemma.

Again, you can find all of the health concerns that are associated with the chemicals sprayed

on our food in the article linked above, and that doesnt even include the environmental

concerns.

This is precisely why multiple countries have completely banned these pesticides from being

sprayed. In fact, 19 countries in Europe just banned Genetically Modified Crops from being

grown in their country, and that includes the pesticides that go with them.

4. Personal Care Products

Unfortunately, many personal care products are a terrible idea, and putting these products

on our skin makes absolutely no sense. For example, if we look at cancer, its caused

by physical carcinogens, chemical carcinogens, and biological carcinogens, all of which we

surround ourselves with on a daily basis, and all of which are in various personal care

products, such as many deodorants.

We recently wrote an article on how to prevent breast cancer through an armpit detox. The

article goes into detail about concerns with regard to aluminum, and how substances put

on our skin do not take long to penetrate and find their way into the bloodstream.

When it comes to cosmetics, there are thousands upon thousands of chemicals that are okayed

by corporate manufacturers, and considered safe. This is all that is needed; there is

no approved regulatory process for these chemicals and the potential harm they may cause.

Again, chemicals are very effectively absorbed through your skin. For example, the Faculty

of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, Canada, conducted a study to quantify how

many sunscreen agents penetrate the skin after it is applied. The results demonstrated significant

penetration of all sunscreen agents into the skin. We are talking about multiple chemicals

entering multiple tissues within the body.

When it comes to women, they tend to use several different products on a daily basis that can

contribute to an overload of toxic chemicals. Make-up is a huge source for heavy metals.

In the report Heavy Metal Hazard: The Health Risks of Hidden Heavy Metals In Face Make-up,

Environmental Defense tested 49 different make-up items, including foundations, concealers,

powders, blushes, mascaras, eye liners, eye shadows, lipsticks and lip glosses. Their

testing revealed serious heavy metal contamination in virtually all of their products.

96 percent contained lead 90 percent contained beryllium

61 percent contained thallium 51 percent contained cadmium

20 percent contained arsenic The Environmental Working Group has a great

database to help you find personal care products that are free of potentially dangerous chemicals.

Better yet, simplify your routine and make your own products. A slew of lotions, potions,

and hair treatments can be eliminated with a jar of coconut oil, for example, to which

you can add a high quality essential oil to for scent.

5. Commercial Cleaning Products

Having commercial cleaning products in your home is not a smart idea. Combined with the

rest of this list, its not hard to see how all of these products are associated with

the dramatic rise in disease weve seen over the past few decades.

Weve covered this topic before, and outlined why these products are dangerous and what

alternatives you can use instead. Why We All Need To Stop Cleaning With Bleach is a great

example, so check it out if youre interested to see where we are coming from.

Alternatives include baking soda, white vinegar, lemon juice, hydrogen peroxide, liquid castile

soap, organic essential oils, mixing bowls, spray bottles, microfiber clothes and more.

Why is it that these products could be manufactured to be much less hazardous, and in some cases

cheaper, but arent? Its not hard to see why so many people believe that these

corporations have no problem in contributing to the decline of human health. A scary thought?

Yes, but there are things to do and preventative measures/ lifestyle changes you can make.

We are always talking about raising money and finding a cure for cancer, without a word

mentioned regarding cancer prevention.

6. Air Fresheners

When it comes to health, air fresheners are probably some of the worst products you can

have in your home. These commonly contain 2, 5-dichlorophenol (2, 5-DCP), a metabolite

of 1.4 dichlorobenzene. This stuff is present in the blood of nearly all Americans, has

been linked to lung damage, and has been known to cause organ system toxicity.

Air fresheners have become a staple in many American homes and offices, marketed

with the promise of creating a clean, healthy, and sweet-smelling indoor atmosphere. But

many of these products contain phthalates (pronounced thal-ates) hazardous chemicals

known to cause hormonal abnormalities, birth defects, and reproductive problems. NRDCs

independent testing of 14 common air fresheners, none of which listed phthalates as an ingredient,

uncovered these chemicals in 86 percent (12 of 14) of the products tested, including those

advertised as all natural or unscented. National Resources Defense Council

7. Plastic Food Containers & Bottles

Not long ago, German researchers discovered endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) that

could adversely affect development and reproduction, to be contained in 18 different popular bottled

water products. Of the 24,520 suspect chemicals found to be present in bottled water, the

one that showed consistent results and illustrated anti-androgenic and anti-estrogenic activity

is di(2-ethylhexyl) fumarate (DEHF). Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that can interfere

with the hormone system, they can cause cancerous tumours, birth defects, cardiovascular disorders,

metabolic disorders and as mentioned earlier, other developmental disorders.

There are other concerns, most notably bisphenol-A (BPA), bisphenol-S (BPS), and phthalates.

Study Shows Regularly Used BPA Alternative BPS Could Be Just As Dangerous

BPA Shown To Negatively Impact Brain Development

Your best bet here is to avoid plastic containers, and replace them with glass bottles and containers.

It would be wise to choose glass baby bottles as well.

8. Avoid Processed Meats

Apart from the obvious heart-breaking treatment, abuse and murder of billions of animals raised

for slaughter every year, The World Health Organization recently linked processed meats

to cancer, and recommended reducing processed meat intake to reduce the chances of contracting

cancer.

Eating processed meat such as sausage and bacon can cause cancer in humans, the World

Health Organizations cancer agency says. Mondays official designation from the France-based

International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), part of the WHO, places processed

meat in the Group 1 list as carcinogenic to humans. The agency said it based the

classification on sufficient evidence for colorectal cancer.

This came after years of multiple researchers making this link. Whether you believe it or

not, or dont see it as alarming, the fact remains: reducing your meat intake (specifically

processed meat intake) is a great path towards a healthier life.

In fact, some experts are suggesting that going completely meat-free is a better option

for those looking to optimize their health.

Studies are confirming the health benefits of meat-free eating. Nowadays, plant-based

eating is recognized as not only nutritionally sufficient but also as a way to reduce the

risk for many chronic illnesses. Harvard Medical School

Its important to note that a very high and alarming percentage of Americans eat hardly

any vegetables whatsoever. According to the Wall Street Journal in 2011, approximately

80% of Americans who ate meat rarely consumed vegetables at all.

The American Dietetic Association weighed in with a position paper, concluding that

appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets,

are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention

and treatment of certain diseases. (Journal of the American Dietetic Association, July

2009) If youre going to eat meat, its best

to make sure it is from an organic, free range grass-fed source.

9. Sitting In Your Chair

Theres a growing amount of research revealing that sitting in your chair (something many

of us do at work, school, etc.) could have some quite dramatic consequences on your health.

Prolonged sitting has been tied to a pre-curser for chronic disease and early death, even

if you exercise regularly and are in good shape.

A study published in the British Medical Journal found that prolonged sitting can increase

your risk of lung cancer by 50 percent. Its also been found to increase your risk of death

in relation to several health problems.

10. Stress & Negativity

Science is starting to catch on to the idea that how you feel can directly alter your

genetic expression. Its not just the environment that your genes respond to, its also your

conscious thoughts, emotions, and unconscious beliefs. Emotions can regulate genetic expression,

and a great book recommendation to find out more about that is called The Biology of Belief

& Spontaneous Evolution, written by cellular biologist Bruce Lipton.

Researchers at the HeartMath Institute are showing the same findings. They show how emotional

information is actually coded and modulated into the hearts electromagnetic field.

They show that by shifting our emotions, we can change the information that is coded into

these magnetic fields. Their research also sheds light on the fact that different emotional

states are responsbile for creating different brain states. You can read more about that

in an article we recently published here.

Furthermore, findings in quantum physics are showing how factors associated with consciousness

can and do indeed have some sort of affect on our physical material world. You can find

out more about that here.

There is also the case of neuroplasticity, which is the idea that the brain is changeable,

adaptable, and malleable. It shows how the brain can change its structure by how we perceive

the world around us.

Human thoughts and learning actually turn on certain genes in our nerve cells which

allow those cells to make new connections between them. Dr. Norman Doidge, MD,

author of The Brain That Changes Itself

There is also the idea of distant healing:

Over the past thirty years, significant scientific research has been conducted on

the potential effectiveness and value of distant healing practices. The practice of distant

healing is drawing increased attention as an important component of integral medicine

models that blend a range of approaches to health and healing. Many leading health professionals

and spiritual leaders believe distant healing practices may significantly expand the capacity

to facilitate healing. Marilyn Schlitz, PhD, President of the Institute for Noetic

Sciences (IONS)

Emotions and the way you feel are a huge part with regard to your overall health

Dairy

Remember those milk commercials you used to see as a kid, claiming that milk does the

body good? It turns out that might not be true at all. In fact, it could be the complete

opposite. New evidence continues to emerge suggesting that drinking milk from a cow is

not really natural, and not really good nor necessary for us at all. Its not a coincidence

that approximately 65 to 75 percent of the total human population on our planet have

a reduced ability to digest lactose after infancy. In some countries, more than 90 percent

of the adult population is lactose intolerant.

Video Games That Went Way Too Far - Duration: 4:40.

Video games have certainly attracted more than their fair share of controversy over

the past few decades.

But while most gamers simply shrug it off, once in awhile the critics may actually have

a point.

Here's a look at some video games that went way, way too far.

And to kick things off, we're going to travel all the way back to the 1980s, with a little

game called...

Custer's Revenge

The Atari 2600, shockingly, had its share of adult video games, even if it was sometimes

hard to distinguish a human body from a palm tree thanks to the system's blocky graphics.

The worst of these was the infamous 1982 release Custer's Revenge.

"Shows a nude General Custer, fighting his way past Indian arrows.

You score the big points in this game by getting the general to rape an Indian woman."

Needless to say, people were outraged, and Atari attempted to sue the game's publisher,

which went out of business a year later.

Grand Theft Auto V

The Grand Theft Auto series is no stranger to controversy.

That said, it's hard not to think that the series' developer, Rockstar, went to a bit

too far with the torture scene in Grand Theft Auto V.

In the mission, "By the Book," the player controls Trevor as he tortures a man by waterboarding

him, ripping out his teeth with pliers, and shocking him with a car battery.

If Rockstar's goal with this scene was to showcase the horrors of torture, then they

certainly succeeded.

If it was to create a fun moment of gameplay… well, maybe not so much?

And that wasn't the first time a Grand Theft Auto game pushed the envelope.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

If you've been playing video games for any amount of time, then you probably recall the

controversy surrounding 2004's Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and the so-called "Hot

Coffee Mod."

That was actually a hidden mini-game that allowed the player to control the main character,

Carl "CJ" Johnson, during sex scenes with various women.

Of course, these types of mods are pretty common in gaming, but the difference here

is that Rockstar itself included minigame on early PC editions of the game, via code

hidden on the disc but otherwise inaccessible without hacking.

After a massive controversy, Rockstar ended up removing the code and releasing a new version

of the game — but not until after it had cost the company untold millions of dollars.

JFK: Reloaded

In 2004, Traffic Software released a first-person shooter called JFK: Reloaded.

As you'd suspect from the title, the game allows the player to reenact the the 1963

assassination of President John F. Kennedy by controlling his alleged killer, Lee Harvey

Oswald.

You get more points for how closely your shots match the historical assassination.

Traffic Software claimed that it was attempting to educate players by creating a historically-accurate

depiction of the assassination.

Others felt the game simply glorified the tragic presidential assassination, because...well,

it does.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

In 2009's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you control of an undercover CIA operative

who infiltrates a cell of Russian terrorists.

During the "No Russian" mission, you accompany the terrorist group on a mission to gun down

innocent civilians in an airport.

The game doesn't force you to actually shoot anyone during this mission — it's up to

the player to decide whether or not to participate.

But the scene is nevertheless extremely disturbing.

Given the high-profile terrorist incidents in western Europe and elsewhere, it's no wonder

the game was highly controversial.

"You bring a game into a house, nothing to stop an eight-year-old kid from becoming

a terrorist and shooting people."

"That's right."

"On a video game."

"Yeah but not a terrorist, that's ridiculous."

While many intentionally shocking games are made by indie publishers looking to cash in

on free publicity, Call of Duty is made by Activision, one of the world's biggest game

publishers.

They should probably have known better.

But considering how far all these games have pushed the boundaries of good taste, one stands

out as being the sickest of all...

Mario Teaches Typing

There is perhaps no series more offensive as the two Mario Teaches Typing games for

the PC.

These "edutainment" games were an unholy alliance between Nintendo and Interplay in the 1990s.

Seriously, could they have chosen a worse educator?

Mario's never even shown that he can read — much less type.

And if he does know his way around a keyboard, how can he hit the keys with any precision

while he's wearing those gloves?

And when was the last time you looked for typing lessons from a plumber?

The answer is "never."

A good teacher for kids?

He's constantly eating mushrooms and can't even stop his girlfriend from getting kidnapped.

"Well, you're the one who got captured by mushrooms, how the hell does that even

happen?"

"Don't flip things!"

"I'm not, you got kidnapped by something that goes on a salad!"
