Hello, Ponguj's here and today we will talk about The Joy of Creation: Story Mode. I'm not sure how much I'll go into theorising today, I'll focus on the overall of what was released.
The game is in development for quite a while, and its official release will happen in a few days, but I just recently started to think about it.
The Joy of Creation has always looked like a free roam version of FNaF without any deeper lore. The characters are Ignited Animatronics, technically you could call them Withered Withered Animatronics, just more destroyed versions of FNaF2 robots,
Halloween Update and Ignited Springtrap, which shouldn't even exist showed, that there's not much to show lore wise.
It was a try to show FNaF3 with free roam, but it didn't have any lore relevance, just looked scarier.
So I didn't have much to make an episode about. The Joy of Creation: Reborn had its own good moments, Foxy's mechanics were ok, phone in Fazbear's Fright too, while wasn't very handy, but there wasn't much to talk about.
But now, it changed into "Story Mode", and like the title says, they want to focus on the lore...
Wait. (Story will not be a major part of the experience.)
Anyway, I'm going to look into it all, teasers before the release, and most likely make some theories after that. I doubt I'll record gameplay unless you want a video in 5FPS with the lowest setting.
Story Mode has five teasers and five trailers. Near the last trailers, there was added a new game description. We will start with it, it's pretty nice interesting to start with.
The whole story starts on the 8th August 2016, in the second anniversary of Five Nights at Freddy's series.
Despite the success that this series got, there's something else, and that last thing isn't very pleasant. Horror moved to the real world.
We're playing as Scott and his family, trying to survive the terror, we don't fully understand yet. We have to find some details, clues, that will help us understand, why FNaF series won't be continued.
I must say, it's pretty interesting coincidence compared to what has recently happened, but anyway.
This concept is really original, interesting. The Joy of Creation went strongly into meta, meta story, it's not a fangame about FNaF but a fangame about the creator of FNaF.
And it explains how Ignited Animatronics can work. You couldn't add them into FNaF lore, well, you probably could, but it would make a huge mess in the story, but no, these ones are something completely new.
The game includes five different parts, while each of them will work in a different way, five different levels with specific mechanics.
And these five teasers I mentioned earlier shows each of those locations, we've seen two of them in the demo, Living Room and Bedroom,
the full version will include Office, Basement and Attic, most likely in this order.
Now, let's say what do we already know from the demo. At the beginning, we have a short cutscene where we are Nick and we're talking to Tobias with a phone,
we've got our house back, the house we are behind now, but we can still see that something is wrong, there are Animatronic's eyes in the corner.
Later, we go to "Memories", all the levels we have to beat are memories, referring to what has already happened in this room earlier, we have to remember them.
The trailers suggest, that the mechanics we've already got will be altered, or at least Living Room mechanics, but I'll explain how everything works now, in the demo.
In the both levels, we have to fight against the same four animatronics, I've got Golden Freddy in the Living Room once, but he hasn't done anything specific.
It seems that he appears always when you can hear some random, weird ambient during the game.
In the Living Room, which is the very first level, Freddy and Bonnie will come from the right and left doors. When they are close, the player has to hide under the sofa and wait, until they go in, look around and leave.
Foxy stays in a door behind us and we have to use a flashlight on him when the door opens. Chica is visible on the camera and moves only when the lights are off, they turn off from time to time, and we have to turn them on with one of the two switches near the doors.
It seems, we are Scott in this level, which is suggested by a conversation we hear there.
In the second level, we are a small kid, Nick, and we are left in a cradle. We again defend from the four animatronics in this level, Freddy is behind the window and we have to cover the curtains when he appears,
Bonnie knocks to the doors and when he's in, we need to have our light turned off and don't move, Chica leans out from her closet and we have to watch her, meanwhile Foxy leans to us from behind, and then we have to look up, and pretend we are sleeping, we are closing our eyes then. That's all from the mechanics for now.
Living Room mechanics are pretty mixed and unbalanced, they all can attack you at the same time and you can do nothing to prevent that. And Freddy attacked me twice when he should be far in the hallway.
I also find that funny, that using your flashlight on the tv will give light on Chica, looks like something paranormal, that she's really inside the TV. (Meanwhile I haven't seen that on other gameplays...)
In the both nights we get phone calls, both of them explains the mechanics, but also tells something more,
first suggests, that animatronics literally left the games and they are working with their AI from the games now, that they adapt to the new surroundings. In the second, we find that the man calling us in called Michael.
He may be the same as the Mike from FNaF series. I think it also easy to connect the facts, that the guy from the cutscenes is the kid in the cradle - they both are called Nick.
So, I'm guessing that whatever happened, this small kid survived everything and came back here when he grew up, and the game is going to focus more on him.
When dying in the Living Room, we can get some special cutscene, where there is a kid trapped in Freddy, I think, I'm not completely sure, as it looks like Foxy's Pirate Cove, but Foxy seems to be here on the right.
There is Golden Freddy or Shadow Freddy coming closer, it's difficult to determine, as the animatronics are burned, I think it would have more sense for Golden Freddy to be here.
But, as we've done that, let's focus on the trailers, each of them was released after the newest demo version. Before I discuss them, check them on your own, links are in the description.
In the first one, we get the whole new location, it's difficult to determine which level are they from, but I think the best type is the Office from all of them, it ain't Basement, nor Attic,
and the remaining two we've already seen, well, unless the Living Room will be changed in the final version, not sure.
But I think, that both the first and the second trailers are about the Office, and it makes sense in the order, it's the very first level after what we've got in the demo.
The Office will focus on that room with the three monitors, on the second trailer there was seen a calendar, I can't see what year is this, but it's clearly August.
As it was supposed to be August 2016, and the days fit, this month starts with Monday, so it would make sense it just hinted 2016 before we've got a confirmation in the description.
The second trailer shows us a recording, which most likely belongs to Scott and if I understand that correctly, animatronics becomes smarter, they break away from the AI they had,
in the Living Room Phone Call Scott said, how he will understand what they're trying to do, he coded them, but now, in the second trailer he says, that they are doing things, they never did. They don't use AI anymore and working together against you.
Like the first level was almost completely related to AI, second one less, then now, after the third one, they're doing whatever they want, nice concept, some evolution of these characters.
How the trailer suggests, we will be in the Office, but we will also be able to walk around and somehow protect from the animatronics.
If we check one of the final trailer scenes, it seems that we can hurt animatronic we've met somehow, not sure if Freddy was hit or just turned back from the flashlight,
but yeah, we will be able to do something in front of the animatronics.
The third and fourth trailers are focused on the Basement. Third, just like first gives us a few gameplay scenes without any words or bigger montage.
We can see how the whole location looks like, a lot of bars, buttons, there's our room with the monitors,
the biggest question is, what's going on with the scene when the person goes into the toilet, leaves and appears in the whole different location, a weird hallway full of the pipes.
It's possible that the Basement will change as we'll be walking around, it will be a level you have to pass through, not something you have to survive for the specific time.
On the gamejolt, it was mentioned that the first level will be different than the rest of them.
Now, in the fourth trailer, we can see a number, that is changing, from six to one, and some words on the monitors.
I think, that we'll have to pass through the same place several times, which changes each time, looking for keys, passwords, protecting from the animatronics. There are a few sentences in the fourth trailer.
Along with "6", there is: "Many shapes, all similar but different" - after that, we see a moment, when there is an endoskeleton just behind the monitors, I think it's the endoskeleton from the first game, but I'm not completely sure.
"5" "All keeping us in here with you" - There is a pretty interesting scene, when we're burning Foxy's hook.
"Find the key to fit the lock" This time, we're entering a code, we're not looking for the key, but for a number.
"Avoid the ones lost in the fire" We're going through the dark hallway.
"Give him to us and we promise" There are doors with number "2"
"His kindred to fulfil your desires" On the other monitors, there is a cradle, a number four and some other room that I can't identify now. There is a lot of stuff here and it's really interesting.
I really wonder, who are we here, according to the description, we're someone from Scott's family, but still, that person gets some special treatment.
The sentences on the monitors here are also pretty interesting, it seems they are suggesting some another, new character?
Maybe it's Michael, Phone Guy talking here? Maybe these are endoskeletons? He tells us to "avoid the ones lost in the fire", animatronics, so the one talking isn't them,
I think that the "similar shapes" may also refer to the robots. The one talking to us wants something from us, he promises us "his" kindred if we will give "him" in return. It's about Scott, I think?
He also says, he's trapped here with us, and talks about himself in popular, so maybe there's a group of characters, not sure, hard to determine. Endoskeletons would work that way.
The final trailer, which shows us the release date, 17th July, also shows shots from each level. At the beginning, there is a repetition of the intro,
the main character is Nick, who has grown in this house, and later lost it, almost losing his whole family too, all of this because of Five Nights at Freddy's.
He isn't even completely sure of what happened here, and we have to figure that out by ourselves.
Some of the shots are what we've already seen, there is one interesting moment when someone gets closer to us, but the red surroundings suggest, it's a perspective of an animatronic.
Later, there is a scene that shows a change in the first level, now, we will be able to see things from the animatronic's perspective on the TV.
This one is also from the living room I think, now hiding from the animatronics will be something more than just hiding behind the sofa, we're going into full free roam now. There's also a pretty nice thing, which are items hidden behind the posters. There is an Office again.
Again the living room, animatronics will enter from any of the three doors, not only Freddy and Bonnie from left and right. Bonnie is now in the doors, that should've been Foxy's earlier.
And at the beginning, there is endoskeleton from the second game. Everything looks pretty interesting, the thing that I'm looking forward to the most is Phone Guy, Mike, whoever he is. If he also left the game, and it's Mike from FNaF1? Who knows.
The concept is really interesting, animatronics that somehow left the games, but it could work differently, my first thought is that somebody else created those animatronics and send them to attack Scott. But from what we've already seen, there's a lot of paranormal stuff etc. I dunno, but it makes me really curious.
There are the main four, Golden Freddy, one or two endoskeletons, maybe even more special characters, in TJOC: Reborn there were those two, there may be more different characters. We will see.
For today that's all, I haven't seen any specific, hidden details, at most the calendar, that was already explained through the game description.
So yeah, we will see when the game gets released, I'll probably discuss more of what happened after the game is released.
Until that, thank you for watching, leave a comment if you've found anything I've missed, you can comment even in English, and see you soon in the next episodes, bye!
