Good morning. Just woke up, it's 9 AM.
Going to drink some coffee to wake up and pet my two new kittens.
Then I'm off to the studio to make some mashups for this weekend,
We're playing Indian Summer Festival on Saturday, Moscow Russia on Sunday.
We need to prepare everything, so we're going to build some cool mashups.
After that we're going to visit Sick Individuals..
..to ask how they prepare DJ-Sets, and some catching up.
Alright let's start the day!
Hey kitties.
Did you take a nice sh*t?
They are cute right?
This is Mila.
And this is Monty.
Here kitties, have some food.
And I'm going to the studio to make some fat beats.
I found a nice house tune last night, but it sounded a bit empty.
So it may be cool to put a rap acapella on top of it, making a mashup.
I started searching and found the acapella of 50 Cent - P.I.M.P.
Let's start right away.
I got the house tune ready right here.
As you might hear there is still some space in the drop.
There's a vocal in the build up, but room for an acapella on the drop.
Let's drag it on there.
Let's see how it sounds.
One problem, it's not synchronized yet with the beat.
It already sounds pretty cool. But we're not there yet.
I have yet to EQ the acapella..
..sidechain it a bit, so it fits better in the beat.
And a couple of effects like reverb and delay.
The basic foundation of the mash up is done.
Of course everything has to be properly mixed and leveled.
But the basic mashup idea is solid.
I'm going to finish it, to test it out this weekend at Indian Summer and in Russia.
Dude. Bro. What's up man. Long time no see!
Alright man, back to work.
Where are we going today?
To Sick Individuals. - Alright.
Because we got a ...
People are really crazy out here. What are they doing?
Uh yeah. We are going to Sick Individuals ... - Yeah.
... we started a collab with the boys, which is almost done.
It just needs some double checks, seeing if we can fix some things.
What's up man. - Yeah I'm good. You can park over there.
Look at this boy showing off his football tricks. - Everything. You know it.
Kluivert! - In the rain.
Nice one bro.
Yo yo yo. What's up.
An amazing studio, guys.
Arigato.
I heard these boys do something with visuals, during their DJ-Sets.
I think it's the biggest part of how we are different from other DJ's. - Yeah we don't do that.
No, that's maybe an idea guys!
You'll get crazy visuals with that crazy music.
Skulls everywhere!
Currently Joep is the DJ nowadays.
So he plays all the music. - DJ Joepie.
And I do all the visuals, when we are together on stage.
So I control the visuals and colours and so on.
We make all the visuals here at the headquarters.
So our show is a combination of visuals and music at the same time.
That brings something unique and different.
That really determines our set in the sense of how it looks like.
You can also make other choices musically like ...
... this track is complicated, but in combination with these visuals it works.
In choosing our music, our DJ-Set ...
... we can do more with visuals, we can take it to another step.
We can play more complicated tracks.
When the visuals are synchronized, the people will go crazy anyways.
So we won't have to play hits. That's a big advantage we have with visuals.
It's a wrap! - Did we succeed boys?
Yeah it all worked out. We're done. - Mightyfools and Sick Inviduals on some crazy sh*t!
It's done. It's done. - It's finished. It's there.
It's Saturday, today we're going to play at Indian Summer Festival.
The weather is ...
... sadly no indian Summer.
It's raining and it's cold. But the sun should be out soon.
We're going to the studio to prepare the playlist and and finalize the mashups.
Then we're off to the festival.
Already packed my bag for Russia, we are flying tomorrow morning. No more time for packing.
It was my birthday Yesterday, 30 years already.
So I'm going to read some of presents in the airplane.
Back in the studio!
We are going to prepare our Indian Summer DJ-Set, because our set could use an update.
We are going to build some cool mashups ...
... think of some suprise elements in our DJ-Set.
And of course rocking and testing it out tonight.
I divided all my music in Rekordbox. I got a main list.
That consists about 100 tracks.
I can scroll through them real fast.
They are all in order, an intro track is ready ...
... these are all early set tracks.
And the music gets harder when you scroll down.
Some moombahton. After that, more harder music.
Ending with some trap, and depending on the crowd ...
...we can switch to more trap for instance.
Or if they want to have more moombahton.
Or more house music.
Acapella tools.
And the panic folder, if the crowd is really tough.
Then they get some hits that are okay within our limits.
This is the most important sound in our set.
But my stomach needs some party too, I'm a bit hungry.
Let's get some food and after that the boys are coming.
Willem and Jamil are joining, our regular team. - Let's go.
Panas, panas. Warm! Thanks Erwin. - Terima kasih.
Ohh some nice food.
Look who's here. How are you dude?
Good, and you? - Yeah nice man. Alright, let's eat boys.
Look who's here - DJ Khaled.
Where are we going?
Indian Summer Festival.
Hey. What's up!
What's up bro?
What makes our DJ-Set unique? By not playing the tracks you play.
That's a honest answer.
Okay boys. See you later!
I heard about a 10 years anniversary of these two crazy guys.
- It's long right? Yeah it is.
You two, for the last ten years, it hurt a lot of people, you know?
No but seriously.
These two guys, a lot of talent, and the craziest guys of the scene.
Nothing but love for them. - Cheers man.
Cheers on the good life!
Kenneth we got a question. - Yeah.
What makes your DJ-Set unique? What are your key points.
I think what everyone else does.
Make their own music, and only play their own music.
Edits, bootlegs. Just whatever you like.
Cool. So own edits, bootlegs, and play the music you like. - Your own productions.
That makes your set also unique right? - Yeah, I think it's a great answer.
Me too, I agree.
Kenneth, thanks for your time. - Take care man.
That was a crazy show. - It was great.
I'm sweating. It was such a nice show.
We're going to drink a lot of water before we go to bed.
Catch a few hours of sleep, then off to Russia. - Moscow.
Good morning.
Slept a few hours and already on our way to the airport. Russia, Moscow, Gipsy Club.
With Sidney Samson, MC Ron Simpson, it's going to be a good night.
Russia. - Yo. Whats up.
You guys are fast. - Banana.
We're in Moscow. It's cold out here.
Okay... this is the room?
Shit. My grandmother used to have this bath tub.
We're in Russia, Moscow, at Gipsy Club together with Sidney Samson.
What's up. Mightyfools!
Hell yeah. We're doing a special back to back set tonight, can't wait to rock, brother.
Oh sh*t. Back to back, Sidney Samson and Mightyfools. That's where it's at.
MC Roga up in this b*tch.
A question, what makes your DJ-Set unique?
Well, look ...
... I never prepare my set.
I'll make sure that I have all the new tracks with me.
I'll put them in a folder and when I play I look at the crowd ...
... and I think, which track is going to work. Reading the crowd.
Oh Ron is coming, look at him.
Okay, so ...
... when I see the crowd I decide what I'll play.
So basically every set is unique.
All my transitions are different each time, that makes it unique for me.
Sometimes I play more hiphop, other times more house, a bit of this and that.
That's about it. - A real DJ.
A real DJ, no preparing, just go with the flow. - Really cool. Sidney, thanks a lot.
There's the club ...
... and we are standing here.
Sh*t, I think the whole country of Russia heard us.
This club's acoustics aren't neighbourhood friendly.
Wow.
You can hear everything, and we are standing far away from the club.
You can't see it, but we are really standing far away from the club.
Here, a whole river between it.
Moscow, it was nice.
Back to the hotel, catch a few hours of sleep, and then we fly back to The Netherlands again.
I think that's our hotel right? Nep rep derp. Ah screw it.
I saw a McDonalds today, and it was also Mak drom drom something. I don't know man.
Good morning. - Morning.
We are in a world leader hall of fame, with everyone who visited this hotel.
Sean Connery slept here. Alfred Hitchcock. - Look at this one.
Chuck Norris bro.
Richard Nixon.
No way.
They didn't change the hotel since he has been here.
Assad. Wow, okay, damn.
Well that was the hall of fame, sadly we're not in it.
No, such a bummer. Well, now we are.
Thank god it's friday's.
Jack Daniel burger.
What did you order? - I ordered 'Toine eats shit'.
Sort of a Mr.Hankey, imitation crab but it's chicken.
But it looks like imitation crab.
Alright, enjoy your 'Toine eats shit' dude.
Thanks.
Jelle eats shit.
America, Russia, it really doesn't matter to you right?
You are such a trash bin.
Poor guys, everyone wants a selfie with them.
It's the Chilean football team.
To be honest, I want a selfie too, but I'm too afraid to ask.
Why not? - I don't know.
Here are even more people that want a photo.
World star. World star.
That was one crazy weekend.
Russia, Indian Summer, cool shows.
Learned a lot from our colleague DJ's to make a DJ-Set special.
For example, like us, you can make mashups.
You can play your own tracks.
You can also not prepare, but have a lot of good tracks on you and analyze the crowd.
Or make it as crazy as you want, and build your own visuals.
In the near future we got Tomorrowland, and Ultra Festival ...
... and a lot of other cool shows.
So keep watching and see you in two weeks.
Like and subscribe. And give a thumbs up! - See you in two weeks. Give a thumbs up.
