Hello everyone, thank you for joining me. Today I'll be showing you how to make a
dog. It looks to me like a basset hound. I'll be doing it in these colors today.
The materials I'll be using today are four ply crochet cotton, but you could use
wool if you prefer. I've got a chocolate brown for the main color and cream for
the contrast. I've got black for the nose and the inner eye, and white for the
outer eye. And I'll be doing a tongue, so I've got a pinky colour. I've got my
thread and sewing needle to stitch it together, but you could use your cotton
if you'd prefer. I've got scissors, I use a 1.25 millimeter crochet
hook and a darning needle to weave in my ends. Now I'm starting with the head, and
my brown, and I make a magic loop, and work three chain and fourteen double
crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight, and slip stitch into the third chain. For row two I work
three chain and work one double crochet in the same place as the chain, and then
I work two double crochet into each stitch around. So I'll continue around
this row and I'll meet you at the end. We join with a slip stitch into the
third chain. Now rows three, four, and five are worked the same. We start with three
chain and work one double crochet in the same place as the chain, and then one
double crochet into each of the next two stitches, and two double crochet into the
following stitch, and we repeat that all the way around. One double crochet into
each of the next two stitches, and two double crochet into the following stitch,
all the way around, and then slip stitch into the third chain. So that's for rows
three, four, and five. So I'll complete up to row five and I'll be back. At the end
of the fifth row, after I've joined with a slip stitch I fasten off,
and I've got quite a large circle. I'll start on the muzzle now. I start with a
magic loop, and work two chain. Into my circle I work four half double crochet,
three double crochet,
five half double crochet,
three double crochet.
Pull my circle tight and join with a slip stitch in the second chain. For row
two I start with two chain, and work one half double crochet in the same place as
the chain, and then work one half double crochet into each of the next three
stitches,
two half double crochet into the next stitch, and then two double crochet into
each of the next three stitches.
Next I work two half double crochet into the next stitch, and one half double
crochet into each of the next three stitches, two half double crochet into
the next stitch, and then two double crochet into each of the next three stitches,
and then I join with a slip stitch in the top of the chain, the two chain. For row
three I start with one chain, and I work a single crochet into each stitch around.
So I'll work around this row and I'll meet you at the end. At the end of the
row I slip stitch into the chain and fasten off,
and that's the muzzle. For the paws, they're both worked the same. I start with eight chain,
and work one double crochet in the fourth chain from the hook, and then work
one double crochet into each stitch to the end.
For row two I start with three chain and I work one double crochet into each stitch.
So I have the three chain and five double crochet.
For row three I start with three chain, and turn, and I work a joined double crochet into
the same stitch as the chain, and the next stitch, and then work three chain
and slip stitch into the same stitch as the last double crochet, and then slip
stitch into the next stitch and then I work three chain, and work a joined half
double, sorry a joined double crochet into the same stitch as the chain and
the next stitch, and then work three chain, and slip stitch into the same
stitch as the last double crochet, and then I slip stitch into the next stitch,
and work three chain and work a joined double crochet into the same stitch as
the chain and into the top of the chain from the beginning of the previous row,
and then I work three chain, and slip stitch into the same stitch as the last
double crochet, and fasten off. And I work another paw the same, and that's the
paw. I'll do the marking for the face now. I
start with nineteen chain.
I miss the first four chain and work one treble into each of the next seven
stitches,
one double crochet into the next stitch, and one half double crochet into the
remaining seven stitches.
Then I work two chain, and slip stitch into the same stitch as the last half
double crochet.
Work two chain, and work a half double crochet in that same stitch as the last
slip stitch. Now I'm working along at the back of the chain. I work one half double
crochet into each of the next six stitches,
one double crochet into the next stitch, and then one treble into each stitch
until the end, and also into the top of the chain at the beginning of the row,
and I fasten off. And there's the face markings done. For the nose I'm using
my black. I start with a magic loop, and work a chain, and then work three single
crochet, three double crochet,
three single crochet,
and three double crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight and slip stitch into the chain and fasten off.
For the inner eyes I've got my black and I make a magic loop, and work one chain,
and six single crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight, and slip stitch into the chain, and fasten off.
I'll need two of those. For the outer eyes I've got my white, and I make a
magic loop and work two chain, and work eight half double crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight and slip stitch in the second chain, and fasten
off. I'll need two of those as well. For the body, which is this part here, I'm
using my main colour, my brown. I start with a magic loop and work three chain, and I
work eight double crochet into my circle.
I pull the circle tight, but I don't join. I've got a half circle. I work three
chain, and turn, and I work one double crochet in the same place as the chain,
and then I work two double crochet into each stitch across.
For rows three and four, I work three chain, and turn, and work one double
crochet in the same place as the chain, and then work one double crochet in the next
stitch and two in the following stitch, and I'll repeat that across both rows. So
one double crochet in the next stitch and two in the following stitch across,
and then three chain, and turn. So I'll work those two rows and I'll be back. Now
that's the four rows of the body. I'll fasten that off.
I don't work the tail until I'm putting it together. I'll work the ears now. They're
worked the same until I work a row of neatening around them, a single crochet. I
start with the magic loop, and work three chain, and one double crochet into the
circle. I pull the circle tight. For row two I start
with three chain, and work a double crochet in the same place, and a double
crochet into the top of the three chain.
For row three I start with three chain, and work one double crochet into the
same place, one double crochet into the next stitch, and one double crochet into
the top of the three chain. For row four I work three chain, and turn, and work a double
crochet in the same place as the chain, and one double crochet into each of the
next two stitches,
and a double crochet into the top of the chain. The next row I start with
three chain and work a double crochet in the same place as the chain, one double
crochet into each of the next three stitches,
and then a double crochet into the top of the chain.
For row six I start with three chain, and work a double crochet in the same place as the
chain, and then one double crochet into each of the next four stitches,
and a double crochet into the top of the chain. For the next three rows we just
work three chain, a double crochet in the same place as the chain, the first stitch,
and then one double crochet into each stitch across. We're not working into the
top of the chain anymore.
So two more rows like that.
So we have our three chain and six double crochet.
For the next row we work one chain and work one single crochet into the same
place as the chain, and then one half double crochet into each of the next two
stitches, and then one double crochet into each of the next two stitches. Into
the next stitch we work two treble
and then we work two treble into the top of the chain, and that just makes it
bend out.
And that's the ear. Now I'm going to do a row of neatening. So for this ear I
don't turn I just do my one chain and work a single crochet into each stitch
around. For this ear I turn it over and then work one chain and work a single
crochet into each stitch. That way my ears face a different way. So I'll work a
row of single crochet around my ears. Now there's the ears done, with turning
the second one over to do my row of single crochet neatening they face the
different way. Now I'm going to do a tongue. You wouldn't have to do a tongue if
you didn't want to, you could just embroider in a mouth. Now I've got my
pink and I make a magic loop, and work two chain, and then I work a two half double
crochet cluster into my circle, just like that.
I pull the circle tight, and fasten off.
Now I'll make another paw, and another set of eyes, and weave in my ends, and
I'll be back and we'll put it together. Now one of the first things I do is I
stitch the face marking onto the head. Just the thick edge against the edge and
coming down evenly. I'll stitch the nose onto the muzzle and also embroider in a mouth,
and I'm going to stitch the white dots on to the eyes. Next I attach the paws to
the head. I just slip them under there and stitch around behind, just as evenly
as you can, just a bit of a gap between.
I attach the inner eyes to the outer eyes. I just have a bit of white around
on one side, and the tongue to the mouth. I just squash it up in there and stitch
it in. The next thing I'll do is stitch the body to the head. It just goes in
like that, in behind the head, and also the muzzle to the head. It slightly
overlaps the marking and it can go a bit lower than the head, just in like that.
Now I'm going to put on a tail. I join my cotton about here, and I work fourteen chain.
I work a slip stitch into the second chain from the hook, and then a single
crochet in the following stitch. Now I work two half double crochet into each
of the next two stitches,
and one double crochet in the following stitch. Now I'm going to work one joined
double crochet over the next two stitches,
one treble in each stitch until I get to the last two stitches.
Now I work a joined treble over the last two stitches,
and then slip stitch into the body, and fasten off.
Now I'll attach the eyes, and weave in my end, and I'll be back. The last
thing I do is attach the ears. The ears point out and attach just towards the
top of the head, so that they come down just slightly above the feet. There's
the finished dog. If you liked my video please like, subscribe, and share. I'm also
