Diy camera crane/jib (EN subtitels) - Duration: 4:03.

Hello, today I'm showing my crane I've made for filming.

Why did I make this crane? To film events and videoproductions.

I've made this out of materials I've found at home.

Why is it really handy?

Because you can make really stable shots and turning effects that are almost impossible to do by hand.

You can film really high, the pole is 5 meters long.

So you can make shots from around 4.5 meters high. And that's high enough for the most situations.

Where do you find such cranes? Mostly on events on the side of the crowd or in the middle.

Mostly they use a stabilizer under it to control the camera and make even cooler shot's.

But I don't have the budget for that yet.

So, how did I make this?

I took an old pole and cut it in 4, then I made coupling pieces to attach them on each other.

Then I used 2 steel cables to support the pole.

I've made a coupling plate to mount and rotate the pole on my tripod.

Its really heavy for my tripod but it works.

At the end of the pole I attached a corner where you can mount the camera onto.

This is connected to the pole but also to an other steel cable to hold the corner leveled.

That makes much nicer shots.

As you see, it's really simple to operate.

A friend of mine has learned operating the crane in less than an hour

and afterwards he had beautiful shots.

You just have to see that you make slow smooth movements.

Here are some shots made with the crane.

If you put too much weight on the camera side, it gets a little bit shaky.

But overall it's really stable.

Also on the operators side I've added 2 weights from 7kg

so you don't need to much power.

If you don't add weights the tripod gets loaded to hard.
