Ayo! It's Bryan here. Today, going to be talking about the San Francisco 49ers.
Going to be talking about the NFC West and how the 49ers stand against the NFC West as
of this video, as of this moment, pre-draft, pre-offseason, everything.
So let's just dive into it. Now the NFC West consists of the Seattle Seahawks, Arizona
Cardinals, LA Rams. Pretty tough division I would say kind of. The last couple of
years, it's been up and down, up and down, up and down with Jim Harbaugh, Pete
Carroll a couple years ago. That was one of the best divisions in the NFL.
Now, it's in the slump a little bit. The Rams are pretty much dominating this whole
division I would say. Arizona, Seattle they had a down here a little bit.
San Francisco had a down here as well, but had a great end of the season with
Jimmy Garoppolo. I think we all know that. That's probably the best time to talk
about the 49ers is the last five games of the season. Fantastic, but don't want
to get into that. I talked about that many times. So I'll be retreading everything.
What do I feel about the NFC West? How do the 49ers fare? I would say
right now as the rosters are not constructed completely. I don't know if I
want to take into consideration free agency and everyone that's going to be leaving,
going to be coming in, but right now, looking at the roster, I think the 49ers fare
pretty well and yes. We all know the Reuben Foster incident. I don't want to
make too much of it. I already talked about with two different videos now. So if you
want to watch it, you can watch it in the link in description and the card section
on Reuben Foster getting arrested and what have you. I think we still fare well
even without Reuben Foster. Maybe defensively, they're going to take a big hit
assuming that he gets suspended or something like that. If he's still on the team.
I don't know what the decision is yet for Shanahan and Lynch or if he gets
cut by the 49ers just completely outright, but assuming that he's going to
stay with the team I guess. I don't know and he's going to be suspended, then I still
think they're going to be an okay shape because they have free agency to rely on.
They have the draft as well. They have a lot of good things going on in their favor.
Offensively, I'm not really concerned the most because we got the
boy, Jimmy Garoppolo to handle this offense with a pretty good talented team
I would say. Carlos Hyde, I don't know if he's a free agent, if he's going to sign
with the 49ers in this offseason. Maybe they can. They can afford that, even
though Jimmy Garoppolo is on a really, really big deal, but at the same time, they still
have a lot of cap money. They have the second most after the Garoppolo signing under
the Cleveland Browns. A good thing for the 49ers to have. Everyone else in the
NFC West. The Rams? They're probably going to be good because they got Sean
McVay, Jared Goff. They had a sensational season I would say.
Todd Gurley was just a freaking beast as well. Defensively, they were
all right with Wade Phillips. Aaron Donald? My gosh, that defensive line with
Aaron Donald. That guy was pretty damn good. Overall, I think the Rams are going to
be all right. They're going to be consistently good. Hopefully they're just
not a one hit wonder. Well, I hope they're a one hit wonder for the 49ers, but at
the same time, I like to see the Rams because I do have a little bit of love
for the Rams because I used to live in the LA area kind of. Orange County, but still counts.
I know it's 30 minutes away, but still counts that I lived near LA, but whatever.
The Arizona Cardinals, they had gone through a lot of changes.
Carson Palmer retired. Steve Wilks is the new head coach of the Arizona Cardinals.
If you don't know, he's the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers
last season. Had a pretty damn good stint there as the defensive coordinator for
the Panthers and what have you. They're going through a lot of wholesale changes.
It's going to be hard for Steve Wilks to find a quarterback, but he has a pretty
good GM in Steve Keim. I think that's not a bad thing to have. He's been there for
a while. So he knows what to see in the Arizona Cardinals, but I think they're going to
be struggling just a little bit. Just like last year.
I mean, Adrian Peterson. He got lucky against the 49ers to be honest with you.
I think he rushed for like 157, 159 yards? I forgot exactly. I remember that game vividly.
That was just a one hit wonder performance right there because after
that, he never had a good performance in the end, except the game against Tampa
Bay in a couple weeks later during the season, but other than that, I feel like
Adrian Peterson offensively got really lucky against the 49ers because
they were still trying to find themselves. Don't want to get in a rant. I love
Adrian Peterson, but I feel like it's almost the end of the career of his. Oh
my gosh. It's kind of sucks to say that. Remember his years in Minnesota, freaking beast.
Don't want to get into tangent there, a good one for Adrian Peterson.
Want to talk about the Arizona Cardinals even more. Defensively, they're a pretty
damn good team and Steve Wilks is inheriting a good defense I would say
with Chandler Jones on the EDGE. You got Justin Bethel/Patrick Peterson.
One of the best corners in the game, especially Patrick Peterson and that
guy's a freaking beast. I think defensively, they'll be good, but
offensively, I think they'll be struggling big time even with Larry
Fitzgerald, which he is still a beast I would say. That's my take on that.
Seattle Seahawks? Mmm... They're falling off a cliff a little bit. They missed the
playoffs for the first time since 2011 when Jim Harbaugh was there for his
first season. So that's been a long time, but still an impressive team. Still
talented team as well. Russell Wilson trying his damn best to
play offense with a terrible offensive line. Jimmy Graham's a pending free agent.
I don't know if I want the 49ers to get him, but we'll see what happens.
Wide receivers, eh. They're kind of okay. Doug Baldwin, Tyler Lockett. I do like Tyler
Lockett. I like him as a returner. He's a pretty damn
good little guy. Defensively, they're aging I would say. They're having some rifts
if you want to call it a rift. Earl Thomas going to the Dallas Cowboys I think
weeks ago at the end of the season. Kam Chancellor has a neck injury. I don't
know if he's even going to be playing football again, but I'm going to assume he's
going to play football because I think he's going to be healthy and hopefully he can
heal up from that injury because that's a terrible injury. Richard Sherman, I know
everyone hates Richard Sherman in San Francisco, but I like his play. He's a
pretty damn good corner I would say. He has an achilles injury. That's going to be
hard to come back from to be honest with you because once you tear that achilles,
man you'll never be the same person ever again. An ACL injury is bad, but achilles
is worse in my opinion. Just look at Kobe Bryant when he tore his achilles.
He was never the same person again, although that was a late age, what,
around age 33-34 he tore his achilles? Richard Sherman is still young. So he
come back from this, but I think he'll lose a step big time in my opinion after
tearing his achilles, which is really unfortunate. Such a damn good player,
but I can't really do anything. The injury gods do what they want. Seattle I
think defensively, they'll still be alright. Also Bobby Wagner, best linebacker
in the game. I was hoping Reuben Foster could be like Bobby Wagner and Luke
Kuechly from Carolina. He still can for the 49ers if he's still on this team or
anywhere else. I don't know what the thing is going on with them. I still
think Reuben Foster can still be a beast and overcome this whole domestic abuse,
violence whatever you want to call it incident that happened on Sunday.
Defensively, they're still good in my opinion, although they're aging and I
don't know if they're going to be the same defense as they were with the 2013
Super Bowl year. We'll see what happens. Offensively, they got to find an
offensive lineman. It sucks for Wilson to run around for his whole life and trying
to do something and he's still able to do something, but he could do a lot
better if he had an offensive line, which the Seattle Seahawks had neglected to
find out or what have you. I don't know what's going on with them and not
finding an offensive lineman for Russell Wilson. They're kind of screwing him there
a little bit. Pete Carroll, I don't know if he's losing the locker room a little
bit, but I feel like Seattle's trending down just a little bit. I wouldn't say a lot.
I know they didn't make the playoffs last year. I would say just a little bit
to the fact that I think the 49ers can pass him this year my opinion and in the
future as well because the 49ers look loaded for the future, while Seattle
is not looking pretty good in the future I would say. So overall, if I had to put a
placement for the San Francisco 49ers in terms of the NFC West, I would put
them at second place to be honest with you under the LA Rams. Maybe you guys
would put them in first place. Jump into conclusions, but I don't want to get too
caught up in the moment. Winning five games in a row.
I know that's a very, very good thing, but at the same time, oh. Hopefully, they can
keep it up, which I think they can keep it up, but I think the Rams are just a
little bit better, tad bit better than the 49ers. I think the 49ers could have
beat the Rams twice I would say. I know they almost beat the Rams in the
Thursday Night game with Brian Hoyer as the quarterback and they destroyed
the Rams the last week, but Jared Goff and Todd Gurley weren't playing, but I
still think they would have won the game in my opinion had Jared Goff and Todd
Gurley been playing. It's going to be a really close division. I know this is
really early to say, but I think the 49ers can make the playoffs and maybe
compete with the Rams for the title division or whatever you want to
call it. Arizona, I don't believe in them with no quarterback and Steve Wilks as
a rookie head coach, even though I think he could be a great head coach, but I
just think his first year, he might be struggling in my opinion. Seattle, I think
they're declined just a little bit I think the 49ers can pass them this
year in my opinion. So yeah, that's going to be pretty much it you guys. I have the
49ers in a pretty damn good shape for the 2018 season. The Rams, they're going to
be up there as well. It's going to be fun to see Kyle Shanahan versus Sean McVay,
but I think overall, the 49ers are running up, up, up, but I think the Rams
are just a little bit better. Just a little bit okay? Just a little bit people.
Don't try to put words in my mouth all right. I think the Rams are just a
little bit better. Please let me know what do you guys think about the 49ers
right now and they're standing in the NFC West. Is it good? Is it bad? What place
would you put them right now? First, second, third or last place? Put it down
