Hey it's Fei!
Today I'm hosting a new show with Soompi,
coming to you on CREATED by Viki.
The show's called SHOOK,
where we celebrate some of the talent
you guys nominated for the 13th Annual Soompi Awards.
Today's guests have been winning the hearts of Soompi's audience - including mine -
Welcome, The Rose!
Hello, we're The Rose!
Hello, I'm Woosung, the electric guitarist and vocalist of The Rose!
Hello, I'm Hajoon, the drummer of The Rose!
Hello, I'm Dojoon, the keyboardist, acoustic guitarist, and vocalist of The Rose!
Hello, I'm Jaehyeong, the bassist of The Rose!
Wow, looks like you guys are going to be so busy this year, in 2018!
But I heard that you guys were super busy as well in 2017
with an awesome debut!
And did you know you guys were nominated
in the Rookie of the Year category
for the 13th Annual Soompi Awards?
Wow!
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
We appreciate it!
Yeah! All this love!
I think when we debuted last year
obviously, we didn't really expect much to be honest.
Because it was just our first debut
so we weren't thinking that we were actually going to have overseas fans
or even Korean fans.
But, I don't know, it just worked out!
So we have some overseas fans,
and I think people really loved the song "Sorry"
and we did get nominated, like she said!
So we just wanted to thank the overseas fans
and the fans in Korea for supporting us so much!
We appreciate it so much!
So before we begin,
can you guys tell us a little about your 2018 plans?
In 2018,
we're doing a Europe Tour in February,
we have a mini album coming up,
and we might do some tours
more tours here in the area or overseas
We heard from your fans
that you guys were really good with direct communication!
That is a very key point to have
and it's very special as well!
As so much of our fans love us,
we try to give back the love starting from little things like communication...
we think that's the only proper thing to do for our beloved fans.
That's how it worked out,
and everyone thinking well of us for that...
We're thankful.
Keeping the trend of open communication,
today we have a very fun episode of SHOOK for you guys!
So this mission is all about world domination for you guys!
Am I right,
or am I RIGHT?
Am I right?
YOU are RIGHT!
I'm RIGHT!
Yay!!!
Are you guys ready?
I'm ready!
Let's go!
The first word is "Shook"!
Shook?
"You got me shook!"
Does anyone know?
I kinda know it, I think?
Isn't that "shook~"?
I think it means like
"You got me shook" as in like
the thing where...
Like "The Rose's 'Sorry' has gotten our fans shook!"
Yeah!
Did you really know the meaning?
Yeah I did!
Foreigner!
So the next word is "Yas"!
I get the feeling that it's really a positive word.
Similar to like "yes" or something?
I think it's "yes" but they pronounce it "YAS"
Yaaas
Next word is "Lit"!
"It's lit!"
"IT'S LIT!"
Hip-hop word, isnt' it?
A little bit.
A little bit?
"The Rose concert in Europe was lit!"
WILL BE lit.
Will be lit!
And WAS lit.
Okay when is this coming out?
Maybe it was?
"Snatched" or "I'm bald".
"I'm bald"?
"My wig was snatched!"
"His music snatched me!"
Bald??
Doesn't it have any special meaning?
Yeah, maybe like you're just blown away.
"Whoa, I was snatched" or
"He snatched me".
Okay
How do you use "I'm bald"?
Uhh, I guess...
"Oh I'm bald"... Few more examples?
"It was so good,
the music was so good that
my wig was snatched and now I'm bald"!
Ohhh okay
Ohhhhhh
Okay so you say "I'm bald".
We're learning here.
Yes
Okay
The next word is...
"Chill".
You know this.
Chill!
What is it?
Chill!
"It's chill!"
"Oh, chill."
"Yeah chill!"
It's kinda like "cool" in a way...
or you can say "chill" to calm someone down.
"This interview is pretty chill."
It's like... kinda like...
You can't really...
Yeah you can't really explain it, but
it's just chill!
Like, chill is just chill!
Ah it's chill!
"Looking like a whole meal"
"Oh you're looking like a whole meal today!"
I feel like,
I feel like...
I'm rice?
I'm meat!
I'll be the soup then.
No, you be the vegetables.
Oh yeah, I'll be the vegetable.
Okay, I'll be water!
I think it means like
you're looking like a whole set,
as in like, you're looking all set up and like...
everything's perfect?
It's like "Whoa, you look really good"!
Yeah!
You're looking fine, so you're looking like a snack...
Kinda like a feast...
Feast! Yeah like a feast!
It has everything that should be there and it's perfect... kinda like that?
"Spill the tea"
It's beyond my abilities?
Oh that kinda makes sense!
But I don't think that's it?
What's done is done?
Is that what it is?
Spill some information... like
"I spilled the tea on our mini album just now..."
Ohhh so it's a bit more like a spoiler?
Yeah so you spill the tea...
It's like a secret.
- "Spill the tea! Let me know!" - Ohhhhhh
"Zaddy"
"Hey zaddy, I'm..."
Daddy!
Zap!
Zaddy!
I have no idea for this one...
...Name?
"Hi Zaddy!"
"Hey Zaddy!"
Is it an acronym?
Is it like daddy?
It's like daddy.
"Hey daddy!"
"Hey zaddy~"
Hollering a bit...
So you're like, "Ay zaddy," you know?
"Oh, looking good zaddy!"
There you go!
Can you say, hey, zam- zammy- zommy?
No!
Okay, so the last one is...
"Bruh".
BRRRRUH!
Yeah!!!
There you go!
Is it?
Yeah!
Brruh
I don't know
Bruh?
"Come on, bruh!"
Bro?
Yeah, bro!
I'm surprised...
I don't know how I know all this!
Now you know!
Now we know it!
We learned more today!
Yeah we'll try to use them!
Bruh
Call my daddy I'm gonna go with zaddy!
You're looking like a whole meal, zaddy!
Okay so now I heard that you guys prepared some slang
to teach me and your fans!
Yes!
So, you guys want to get into it?
Let's start!
ieng (ㅇ), jieut (ㅈ).
Korean character!
Yeah, acronym!
Oh acronym!
It's an acronym for something.
I have no clue,
can you guys do expressions to help me out?
It's kinda more of a...
computer kind of word?
For PC game or like...
Yeah for gaming or like...
you use it when you chat!
I'm good looking today, in-jeong? (나 오늘 좀 잘생긴거 인정?)
You just said it!
I didn't understand, so it's okay!
In-jeong (인정).
In-jeong (인정)!
It's like "Right? Right."
Oh, like am I right or am I right?
You TOTALLY agree.
Like, TOTALLY. Totally.
Totally, yeah.
Ohhh, okay!
"You agree?"
So it would be like "Ya".
"You agree?"
"Ya"
Ohhhhhh
Yeah when you do it in English...
Gaen-so (갠소).
Use it in a form for me.
For instance, when you have a picture that you like.
If you have any pictures or videos that you really like,
you say this.
I wanna gaen-so (갠소) this.
I wanna keep this.
Oh, similar. Yes.
I wanna snatch this for myself?
Oh snatch!
For yourself! Yeah!
Gae-in-so-jang (개인소장) in Korean,
but you shorten it to gaen-so (갠소).
Kkul (꿀)!
Kkul (꿀) something something!
Kkul! (꿀!)
Water!
We use that, don't we?
Kkul (꿀)!
You could say like, "It's kkul-jaem (꿀잼)"
"Jaem" means "jae-mi-it-da (재미있다)"
so it's like "fun".
Something fun.
Have you ever heard of "kkul-mat (꿀맛)", "kkul-jaem (꿀잼)",
or...
"kkul-alba (꿀알바)"?
No...
"Kkul (꿀)" means honey in Korean...
Ohhhhh
Honey is really sweet,
really like smooth, and you know...
They put it in front of a word
which makes it more...
Intriguing?
Yeah!
And it makes it like...
Emphasize!
Yeah emphasize!
So you mean you can use it with whatever word?
Kkul-The Rose?
I mean,
"The Rose is kkul!"
Yeah, you can use it like that.
When you put it in front of an adjective,
it emphasizes the whole word.
This one's a little easier.
"Rae-al (레알)"
"Oh this is rae-al good." (아 이거 레알로 좋다)
Which means...
This is Konglish!
"This is rea-al delicious!" (이거 레알로 맛있다)
This is really good?
Yeah!
When you say it in English, it's "real".
R-E-A-L.
But when you read it in Korean,
rea-al (레알)!
Oh you're breaking it down?
Real good, this is real good.
Okay our last one?
"Go-gu-ma (고구마)!"
Go-gu-ma is sweet potato!
You say it to..
Someone you really like.
Someone you really like?
A doggy?
A doggy.
You're a sweet potato!
But in Korea, it's used as little bit more negative way than...
Yes.
Ohhh
Like,
"You're a SWEET potato!"
Yes
Yeah you can say that!
You know how when you eat sweet potato, it's really thick?
Thick, yeah.
And you need some water, right?
It's not digesting well and it's stuck right here?
Stuffy!
Yeah stuffy!
So you say to people that are stuffy,
Why do you...!!!!!
This sums up the meaning.
How do you say it again?
Go-gu-ma!
Sorry that we're such a go-gu-ma explaining all this.
So did you guys have a favorite slang
that I taught you guys today?
Probably, the easiest one was "zaddy".
Yeah
"Hey zaddy~"
"Hey zaddy"
Ohhh okay!
And did you guys have fun learning it?
Was it hard?
Yeah it was hard,
but when you put it into context it's
a little bit easier to understand.
Well, unfortunately, we ran out of time today.
But that is it for today's episode of SHOOK!
But don't go anywhere because next time,
we have another AWESOME group
that was also nominated
in the 13th Annual Soompi Awards!
So make sure to come back!
Stay tuned!
Bye guys! We were The Rose!
Bye guys!
We were The Rose!
Thank you! We appreciate it!
Vote for us!
Vote vote!
You guys are a whole meal!
