Welcome to Ink It Up with Jessica TV I'm Jessica Taylor and in this episode
I'm going to show you how to make these fun backgrounds with your sponge daubers.
So what are sponge daubers? They are like cute little sponges at the tips of these
little black things that fit on your fingers, so really they're like fun
sponge finger puppets! The first color combo I'm going to use
is Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie. I usually like to have just one ink pad open by me
so that I don't stick my dauber in the wrong color. You're just going to dip your
dauber in the color and then dab it to make the circles. Now you'll notice if
you dab once it's going to be dark, the next time you dab it's a little lighter and
the next time it gets just even a little bit lighter. Plus the more you ink it up
the darker it's going to get. You can do overlapping circles, off the edge circles,
however you want to do your backgrounds. You can bring your circles, your sponge
dauber circles, all the way to the bottom or like this one you can kind of make it
look like it's confetti falling down. It's totally up to you! I'm going to come in
now with some Pumpkin Pie now you can't really wash these sponge daubers but
I've found it's okay to use the same dauber with the same color family. For
instance I could use this sponge dauber with all of my oranges and I just kind
of rub it off on scratch paper to clean it in between. You don't really want to
wash it, they're not really that sturdy.
Okay, also how hard you push will effect how large your
circle is and how dark your color is. So I think I'm going to leave it like that.
Isn't that fun? The next color combo I'm going to use is
Bermuda Bay and Pacific Point. Now because these are the same color shade,
they're both blues, I'm going to use the same sponge dauber. I'm going to start with
my lighter color, stick my dauber on the end of my finger
and just start adding some circles. For this card I went all the way down to the
bottom and you really do want to go off the edges of your cardstock otherwise
it's going to look odd if you tried to keep it inside so
like an actual piece of patterned paper that you would purchase, you want to go
off the edges. You really kind of keep going as much as you want. Now I might
just kind of rub this off on my scratch paper to clean it up a bit before I
switch over to my Pacific Point. Now I'll come back in and add some Pacific Point
circles. My biggest tip is don't overthink it. Just put those circles
down and maybe stop a little bit before you think you should. So there you go!
This is just a really easy way to make backgrounds with your sponge daubers.
