(Most of) January Wrap Up | BookTube - Duration: 10:21.

I really tried to break the alternation of queer (and/or ASL Ponderings), and books, but… Oh well.

Hello, I'm Rogan and welcome to a wrap-up. I will TRY to make this short but we'll see.

I've decided that I need to be more consistent about WHEN I post wrap-ups of what I've read.

So from now on, I will be doing end-of-month wrap-ups.

I will try to do that anyway.

So! I have nine books today. Let's get started.

"How to Survive a Garden Gnome Attack"

This is funny. It's kind of a parody book. I enjoyed reading this. It's a very quick read, maybe an hour.

If you're a fast reader, maybe an hour. It's not even that thick.

It's written like a "how to survive a zombie apocalypse," that kind of thing. So this is pretty funny.

It will talk about garden gnomes like they're alive and have very murderous intent.

It's a funny little book, I enjoyed it.

Next, "The Partner."

It's basically about a guy who worked for a law firm, and stole money from them, disappeared for 2-4 years.

They looked for him, couldn't find him.

The law firm that he worked for went broke, all the partners spent the money before they even had it.

There's a lot, but at the same time, not a lot going on in this story. It jumps back and forth a lot.

It kind of pieces together the story as you go, it doesn't tell you from the beginning to now, no.

It starts now, jumps to back here, then forward to now, a little back, now, far back.

It can be a little confusing sometimes, but overall, it is good. It's a Grisham book, I enjoy his books.

*shrugs* It was good.

Next, "Queer" by William Burroughs.

I…gave it three stars on GoodReads. Partly because it was just very confusing.

I'm just going to read the synopsis on the back of the book, because I'm not even sure how to explain it.

Set in Mexico City during the early 50s, "Queer" follows William Lee's hopeless pursuit of desire

from bar to bar in the American expatriate scene.

Yeah, I… It was interesting, but very confusing. The writing style is very different than modern books, so…

It's not something I would say you must read. It's okay if you… Yeah, I don't know.

Next, "Girl at War" by Sara Nović. A couple things.

One, I already kind of explained this story in a collab I did recently. I'll link that up here wherever.

Second thing, the author is deaf.

Now, this book doesn't have any deaf characters in it, as far as I know. [text: Actually yes. But very minor.]

But the story itself is good.

It's about a girl who was born in Croatia and grew up during the downfall of Yugoslavia.

Then at about 11 years old, she was sent to the US to live there. She grew up, became an adult (there).

She (started to have) flashbacks, struggling with her life.

So she decided it was time to go back to Croatia and reconnect with her roots. It's really good.

It does touch on war, violence, trauma, so be aware of that if you need to prepare yourself for that.

Next, "Creative Struggle." If you know Zen Pencils, you will know what's in this book.

It's pretty much his comics from online put into book form. [text: *Not all of them, just a select few.]

So if you read online, there's nothing new in this.

It may be good to tell you what this is about.

It has different comics about famous people like Tesla, Einstein... Who else? Akira Kurosawa - a filmmaker.

Mary Shelley, the person who wrote Frankenstein.

All different masters of creativity, and the comics are about their own struggle.

Many people will look at them and go, "They're brilliant, good at what they do, they never struggle."

But the comics say no, really, they did have their own struggles that they had to get through

before they became skilled/good.

I really liked how Gavin, the cartoonist, did this. He drew it as if the person themselves was telling the story.

After each comic, he will have text about that person, what their history is, maybe more details about

their accomplishments, and why it's important to know about this person. It's really interesting, I liked it.

Next, "The Orchid Thief."

Basically, the story is about orchids and trying to figure out WHY people are so obsessed with them.

This started as a New York Times article, then the author decided that she wanted to expand to a full book maybe.

So she went to Florida, everything happens in Florida.

She follows one person who is obsessed with ghost orchids. He wants to get one, and clone them to sell

everywhere. Because they're hard to get, they're in the wild, only in Florida, they don't grow anywhere else.

It's an interesting story, yeah, and I did learn quite a bit about orchids in this.

I gave it three stars on GoodReads, because it wasn't anything that hit me and made me go,

"Wow, this is really fascinating!" It was an interesting story, yes, but not anything special.

Next, "Winter." This is the fourth, and final, book in the Lunar Chronicles.

If you remember from my previous videos, I've read all four - Cinder, Scarlet, Cress, and now Winter.

I really enjoyed reading Winter because we got to learn more about Luna, and what (the author) imagines

what life is like on the moon, and the people who live there. It was interesting.

It was good, still has a little bit here and there that felt a little bit convoluted. But…overall, the series is good.

I enjoyed reading it. I enjoyed seeing the alternate possibilities of all these fairy tales.

Winter is obviously based on Snow White.

But I'm not going to say anything more because this series is one of those you have to read in order,

they're not stand-alone novels. So let's get to the next one.

Next, Piper. I… *winces* I don't like this one. I don't.

To be clear, this book is a graphic novel, so that's different from a book.

This is a re-telling of the Pied Piper. Simple and basic.

But I really didn't like it because… It has a deaf character in it, a main character other than the Piper.

But I felt like the deafness was used as a plot device, and the whole story felt kind of forced, and…

The way it was written was kind of all over the place, it felt choppy, jerky, it didn't feel natural at all.

So… I gave it two stars on GoodReads. Yeah, I wouldn't recommend this book at all.

Next book, I started and finished in maybe four hours. "Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore."

This was recommended by Kathy, and the minute I saw it, I knew I had to get it and read.

I mean, a book about a 24-hour bookstore, and books, and mystery, and all of that? Yes. Yes, please.

I decided, fine, I'm going to the library, get it, because I found out my library has it, yesss.

I got it… I think I may have to get my own copy.

Anyway! This story is about a guy who recently lost his job, his career goals didn't really pan out, so he's looking

for a job. He happened to find one at Penumbra's. He thought, sure, why not? It's a good temp for now.

And of course, things get weird. And get weirder, very fast.

This has a good mix of old-timer, books, a bookstore, and tech with Google, 3D models, and all of that.

While I was reading it, I used this specific bookmark to hold my place. I thought it was appropriate.

A book bookmark in a book about a bookstore and books. What can get better than that?

Also, for those who don't know sign, the book has a symbol that is mentioned frequently in the book.

It also has a picture.

That is the sign for book, [demonstrates sign].

So…I don't know if that was the author's intent or not, but I thought that was a cool tidbit.

Of course I want to add this. A really cool thing with this book cover is it glows in the dark. That's really cool!

I would definitely recommend this read.

That's it for today's wrap-up. Have you read any of these books? If so, did you like them or didn't like them?

The Ascension Process Isn't Always A Walk In The Park - Duration: 3:56.

The Ascension Process Isnt Always A Walk In The Park As Your Dirty Laundry Has To Come

Out

by Conscious Reminder

Often when we meditate we feel good immediately after, however it is quickly replaced by depressive

feelings.

This happens because when we meditate we levitate and move closer towards the vibrations of

our spiritual being.

We welcome the spiritual light in us which removes the karmic blocks gathered in our

chakra system over lifetimes.

As these blocks dissolve, it results in pain, cold or hot sensations and weird bodily movements.

While meditating, the normal body vibrations get heightened and reach the vibrations of

the spiritual self.

This gives off euphoric emotions.

However, once done, the body moves back to the physical plane where it needs to adjust

the energy levels to the physical parameters.

This process is soul alchemy where, through meditation and other spiritual practices,

we can transform the dense low vibrational energy into higher frequencies.

Since with scientific progress, we have resorted to easy remedies, our bodies often cant

cooperate with spiritual healing.

We dont understand that pills dont heal us; they cover the problem for a while.

True healing involves going to the root of the problem and bringing it to the spiritual

light and consciousness so that they can be cured of their issues.

The movement of bringing forth our energetic blocks creates changes in our energy fields

leading to ascension symptoms.

As the blocks are removed, higher vibrational energy is included which activates the DNA

and spiritual glands, resulting in certain changes.

Seeing humanity fall to a lower vibrational level, Mother Earth asked for help across

the Universe and it was granted.

We have to raise our consciousness and awaken spiritually to explore the full potential

of spiritual healing and transformations.

This is why most of humanity and the rest of the planet is undergoing transformation

from carbon based being to crystalline beings at a rapid rate.

With the help of meditation, we can reach the ascension in consciousness that will open

up the blocked tubes and channels that have been preventing us from attaining spiritual

heights.

With regular meditation, the depths of our hearts, minds and souls will open up to imbibe

the goodness of spiritual energies.

It will help us connect deeply to our true inner self.

However to achieve this balance and peace, one needs to undergo spiritual detoxification

of lifetimes worth of pain, karma and trauma.

The ascension process requires dedication, determination and will to get better.

This journey may make you experience uncomfortable sensations but you need to be persistent for

the benefits.

Many people start with good intentions but run away in fear, continuing to live their

fake lives.

We dont have to struggle with the duality of our lower selves and higher selves any

more.

By raising our vibrational energy, we are slowly reaching our true potential, closer

to God.

With the spiritualization of our ego, we are becoming one with our higher selves.

This is how the world will be healed.

Contact an energy healer to help you through the entire process.

Biggest Inspiration For Students | APJ Abdul Kalam Biography in English - Duration: 5:20.

Abul pakir jainul abedeen abdul kalam, better known as a.p.j abdul kalam, who was the 11th

president of india, was born on 15th October, 1931 in a poor tamil muslim family in rameswaram.

From teen age he had to fight with poverty for his family and his own education.

His career life started by selling newspaper.

He was admitted in tiruchiraplly sent josef college and also was graduated from there.

He was very heedful in studies from childhood but after graduation he lost interest in physics

and he deeply regreted for it for the next 4 years.

After this listening to his inner voice he decided to do engineering course.

In 1995 his name appeared in the merit list of madras institute of technology but the

fees for admission was one thousand rupees.

Then he had not that much money.

But his mother and sister arranged that money by selling their gold jewellery and apj abdul

kalam was admitted in engineering.

His interest in studies increased after seeing the faith of his family members in his studies.

After noticing his deep interest in some projects in college, a professor gave him the responsibility

for a senior class project.

But after noticing no progress in that work his professor told him "complete it within

3 days or your scholarship will be taken back".

At last kalam successfully finished that project and also made his professor happy.

After this a new chapter started in his life.

He got chances to work in air force and as a directorate of technical development production

in defence.

He decided to try for boths.

He got interview calls from dehradun for air force and form Delhi for defence.

After staying in Delhi for 1 week he gave interview for defence and then he came to

dehradun for air force interview.

There he stood 9th out of 25 people.

But first 8 candidates were selected.

And so he lost his opportunity to become a fighter pilot.

He became so depressed as he was unable to make his dream come true.

After this he went to hrishikesh and there he met with swami shivananda and expressed

to him about his dreams, wishes, depression, and grief.

After listening everything swamiji told him, "Desire, when it stems from the heart and

spirit, when it is pure and intense, possesses awesome electromagnetic energy.

This energy is released into the ether each night, as the mind falls into the sleep state.

Each morning it returns to the conscious state reinforced with the cosmic currents.

That which has been imaged will surely and certainly be manifested".

After this he went to delhi and started to work as a senior scientist in Indian defence

Ministry.

Then he was transferred to indian space research organisation ISRO in 1969 and started to work

as the head of the project of making a satellite named slv iii.

But in 1979 when the slv iii was sent to space, it crashed just after 317 seconds.

And for that abdul kalam had to face a critical time.

He was very depressed then and became very weak mentally.

After this in a press conference when abdul kalam was asked about the failure of the satellite

mission, professor satis dhawan took the microphone from him and answered all the questions from

the media.

He said, "these are very complicated missions, we will have to find the fault on our own

and we will have to correct it and will keep an eye on this so that this incident does

not repeat in future".

He also said, "I have full confidence that we will be able to send another satellite

in one year".

In later years when kalam was preparing to construct a new satellite, a lot of people

were making him remember about the failure of the slv iii.

But he kept Faith in himself and focused only on his own work.

On 18th july 1980 rohini satellite was launched and it became successful to reach the orbit.

It took kalam to the peak of success.

He wanted to work in many projects after this but those were rejected by the cabinet.

In 1998 he did some successful research in atomic science.

At that time, president atol bihari vajpai wanted to give him his Ministerial post but

kalam rejected that.

But in future he was honoured by becoming the 11th president of india.

As a president he was honoured as well as criticised.

He first advised to ban iftar party in rastrapati bhaban.

Later when the reason became claer it was that approximately 22lakh rupees have been

spent for the Iftar party every year in Rastrapati Bhawan.

So he ordered the money should be sent for the welfare of orphanages to bought them food

dress and blankets.

He also used to donate to orphanages from his own savings.

In 2007 he left the presidentship with honour.

On 27th july,2015 during giving a speech in iim shilong on "creating a liveable planet

earth" he passed away due to massive cardiac arrest.

According to reports, his last words told to his assistant srijan pal singh were "funny

guy!

Are you doing well?".

At last I want to finish this video with one of my favorite quote of abdul kalam, he said

"man needs his difficulties because they are necessary to enjoy success".

At last a little request to you, if you find this video useful then please share it with

you friends and by commenting below please let us know on which person you would like
