Hi this video is about applying makeup for beginners my name is Melissa van Dijk
and I'm a professional makeup artist and if you are watching this video and if
you are enjoying this video don't forget to subscribe to my channel
underneath thank you so much for supporting me and now without further
ado let's get right into this video when it comes to applying makeup and if
you're new in the makeup world then you can be overwhelmed because there are so
many different products on the market and sometimes you have no idea how you
should use each product or also in which order you should use them so I just hope
that this video is helpful for you and I'm going to show you now step-by-step
how you can get a full looking beautiful makeup look in just a few minutes and I
hope that you enjoy it and that you can follow each step and now we will move on
to step number one for step number one at first I like to just get my hair out
of the face so that if I'm applying some products it won't be in my hair's so
this will look awful but for the moment I don't mind and then we are going to
start off with moisturizing our face this is so important because your face
can dry out really quickly so it's always important to apply a moisturizer
before you're playing any other makeup products so I have this moisturizer
right here and I'm going to use a little bit onto my face and if you have quite
an oily skin then you can apply on top the moisturizer and oil controlling
primer if you have a normal skin and you're happy with your skin texture then
you can skip this part and you just can apply the moisturizer on its own and
then we will move on to the next product but at first I'm going to use
a bit all over my face and just gently massage it into my skin
so I just used now in daily moisturizer it should suit with your skin type so
just check this out and then you can apply it without problems and if you
have a really oily skin as I said now you could apply an oil controlling
primer on top but I'm happy with my skin texture so we will move on to step
number two first step number two you can apply your foundation but you don't have
to use a foundation you can also use a BB cream so it's totally up to you you
need to feel comfortable when you're applying these products so if you are
not happy with the product try another one so I just used now the Tarte
Amazonian clay foundation and this is now an empty bottle I just got
everything out of it and the makeup studio one which is a little bit darker
so that I can match it to my skin tone so when it comes to matching foundation
to your skin tone then you can try it from the lower part of your cheeks
to the upper part of your chin and also of your neck so I just mixed my own
together which is right here and this I'm going to apply onto my face and you
can choose between choosing your fingers so if you have a BB cream you can also
use your fingers you don't have to use a brush and you can also use a foundation
brush which is a little bit dense but still a roundish brush or you can use a
damp Beauty Blender so it's totally up to you I personally prefer to use a damp
Beauty Blender because it gives me the smoothest application and also the
quickest
so when you're applying the foundation with the sponge then it should be a damp
sponge so just wet it a little bit and then squeeze it out so that the water
rinse out of it and then you can just apply it in dabbing motion so you're not
going to drag the foundation and swipe it around just dab it and when you press
and kind of turn it then you will move the product so you can spread it out but
I wouldn't recommend swiping it all over your face because then you will get some
lines and it gives you well it doesn't give you that even coverage so that's
what I can suggest to you and I personally just find that the Beauty
Blender gives me the best coverage and also the smoothest and flawless finish
but if you prefer a brush it works beautifully but it might not give you
this good coverage so you should just choose it by yourself and also
experiment with it
and now you can also drag it down towards your neck so that if you have a
fake tinte or if the color matching isn't that correct and you always can drag it
down a little bit so that you won't have this harsh line where you still can't
see the difference
just before I have applied my foundation you just saw that I mix my foundations
together so this is because for the moment I don't have a foundation that
suits my skin tone perfectly so that's why I mixed my own but you just need to
try it out to you if you are in a store and you're just new in the makeup world
then have a look at the store just try some four shades out and test it from
your neck and also from the lower cheek part and go in natural light so this
will give you the best result if you are in natural light because sometimes when
you are in the drugstore shop or high-end makeup products whatsoever then
they give you sometimes a really bad light so that you think it's the perfect
shade but then when you at home you see that it's too dark or too light and then you
can go and buy another one so they just want to trick you just keep this in mind
if you can just test it out in natural light try it in natural light now for
step number three if you want to cover up some blemishes or uneven skin
textures or some pimples then now you can go and just choose a concealer in
your skin tone so I have this one here from Maybelline and it's with the little
sponge applicator and I'm going to just apply it where my pimples are and then
later on I'm going to choose an concealer which is a little bit lighter
than my skin tone to highlight underneath my eyes so that I can get a
really nice and awake look so that I will look fresh when it comes to the
application then you can use your Beauty Blender or any random sponge or a damp
sponge and just use the pointiest tip which you have on this sponge because
this will work the best and gives you a really precise job or you can also
choose a concealer brush which is a fluffy brush and also a roundish brush
and you can dab it onto the pimples or onto your blemishes so you can choose
between a brush or Beauty Blender I will go with the Beauty Blender because I
started with a Beauty Blender so I'm going to finish off with it
so I turned this one way too high so that it has a lot of product in it but
I'm just going to use the sponge and spread it out so as you can see it is
quite a lot but because I have pimples around my chin I'm just going to spread
it out and this concealer should be in your skin tone and what the concealer
does it gives you this extra coverage which you can't really reach with the
foundation and sometimes the foundation with a higher coverage can be too heavy
so if you have certain areas which you want to cover up so that there aren't
visible any more or less visible then I would recommend using a concealer in
your natural skin tone and this will do the best job so you can choose the tip
or brush and just apply it where you need it so that you don't have a lot of
product all over your face but just to the areas where you really need it
to highlight the area under my eyes I'm going to choose the Tarte concealer and
this is lighter than my actual skin tone which is good because it will give me
that awake looks that I will look fresh and this has the dope applicator so I'm
just going to use a little bit not too much
and I'm not going to do this triangle thing I'm just going to keep it very
close to my eye area where I really need to highlight so and now I'm just going
to use the tip of my Beauty Blender and I'm going to blend it into the skin
for the next step we are going to set our face with some translucent powder so
I have a little bit of translucent powder here in this cup and I'm going to
set my under eye area with it and also the rest of my face so when it comes to
the under eye area it can crease quite a lot and to just avoid this that this
happens you're going to use a small fluffy brush you can use an eyeshadow
brush or normal face brush which is a little bit smaller then you can place it
underneath your eyes now for the rest of my face I'm going to use a big fluffy
powder brush and I'm just going to press the translucent powder onto the skin
so that it will set the foundation and concealer so before I'm going to set my
under eye area I'm going to take the Beauty Blender again and as you can see
it started already creasing on my eyelids so I'm just going to wipe this a
little bit away and blend it again into the skin and now while my eye is closed
I'm going to take the eyeshadow brush and so translucent powder I'm going to
place it on top so that it won't crease any more so this will just set this part
and this just happens because I use the foundation also over my eyelids so that
I can get an even canvas because sometimes you will have some bluish or
reddish areas and if you're applying the eyeshadow then it won't look that
beautiful and the pigment of the eyeshadows can be distracted from the
blueness and redness on your eye so now for underneath I'm doing the same thing
and I'm taking some translucent powder and I'm going to set it
so that the creasing will stop
so I know the same on the other side so at first I'm going with a Beauty blender
of my eyelid this side is quite all right
but just keep this in mind because then you won't have any lines from the
foundation when you have applied your eyeshadow later on I'm just going to
just some powder over it and now for underneath
I just want to make sure that there isn't anything creasing in my little
lines or in my wrinkles whatsoever so I just like to use the beauty blender to
make sure that the foundation is nicely blended so that there isn't any products
in my lines because then this can just mess up your whole makeup look so and
this is now my under eye area set now I'm going to take the big fluffy brush
and I'm going to set the rest of my face so I'm going to dip the brush a little
bit into it and always tap it on the lid off so that you have a little bit of
product onto your brush but not too much and with this one I'm just going to
press it onto the skin so I'm not going to wipe it away because this won't work
so you have no powder on it you're just going to wipe it away but when you're
pressing it into the skin it actually will set the foundation so that it won't
move so that it sticks this place
I know my forehead
and you can also use the rest which is left on your brush and just apply it to
your neck now you have set your face and now we will move on to the next step
now for the next step we are going to fill in our eyebrows so as you can see I
have quite a lot of my eyebrow hairs still there but sometimes you get
thinner eyebrows you just want to give it a little bit more definition and also
that they are more visible but I personally like to keep it natural so if
you have less brow hair than I have then just keep it natural and just fill them
in with some eyeshadow powder also or also some brow powder so it's totally up
to you but if you have some eye shadow which matches with your brow hairs then
you don't have to buy an extra eyebrow powder because it's quite the same so
you just want to add some color to it so when it comes to the brushes and I
would recommend taking a spoolie or an Brown lash comb which is this one right
here and yes I broke already two of the lash comb side but this doesn't mind I'm
going to use this side to brush through my brows and you can also take an angled
brush which is this one right here and the thinner the angle brush this will
give you a precise job done so you don't have to use such a big angle brush which
I have you can also use a thinner brush but now I'm also going to take some
eyeshadow so I'm not going to use any brow products I'm just going to use this
eye shadow right here and this is perfectly for my eyebrow hairs it
matches also perfectly with them and I'm just going to fill them and where I have
some spare areas so at first I'm going to take the lash comb and lots of Brown
start to brush through my hair and then I'm going to take the angled brush with
some eye shadow powder on it I'm going to fill in my brows but just a little
bit so I'm not going to focus on the perfect shape I'm just going to focus on
that they're a little bit intense and that they are a little more visible
and if you like you can also use a little bit more product towards the brow tail
but just keep it soft and simple in the front
like this and I'm just going to do the same thing on the other side so at
first I'm going to brush through them
and then I'm going to take my angle brush again
just a little bit more color to it
and at the brow tail a little bit more intense
so I know this is an easy way how you can fill in your eyebrows and it doesn't
take that long just keep it simple and you just want to add a little bit more
color so that they are a little bit more visible than before now we are moving on
to eye shadow so when it comes to applying eye shadow you can do it with
your fingers but you also can use some brushes which will help you to blend it
out and it will look a little bit better so I would recommend doing a mix of it
so applying it with your fingers and then blending it out with a brush and
you don't have to use so many different colors you can use one or two to keep it
simple and this will give you already a big difference so I'm going to use this
palette right here and I'm taking two shades but I'm going to show you at
first the first technique and then the second technique so if you want to keep
it simple and just using one shade because you aren't sure if this matches
for you on that then you just can take one shade and try it out so I'm going
with this shade right here and this shit I'm going to apply with my finger on my
mobile lid so which is this part right here and then I'm going to take the
fluffy brush from before where I have applied the powder with I'm going to
blend it out a little bit up towards my crease and then for the second technique
you can use one shade more and this will give you a little bit more definition
and for that I'm going to use the dark brownish shade and I'm keeping this in
my crease and a little bit above so if you have also hooded eyes this is also a
beautiful technique for you so if you have hooded eyes I would recommend using
two different shades and if you have a really nice almond shaped eyes and also
big eyes so that you don't have any hood right here and you can go and be happy
with just one shade so at first I'm going to show you now what I mean about
just using one shade so now for just using one shade I'm going with this one
right here it can also be a shimmery shade so don't be afraid you don't have
to use matte shades you can also use just a shimmery shade which will give
you a beautiful finish so I'm just using it on my
finger I just need a little mirror so that I can see what I'm doing and I'm
placing it on my mobile it's so at first I'm just going to take my finger and
place it on my mobile it and this has a little bit of a shimmer to it which will
give you already a beautiful finish if you just want to use one shade I'm going
to again and it's neutral but still when the light hits your eyes then you will
see the shimmer in it but you can also go a little bit more Sparkle if you
liked it it shows up a little more but if you haven't used any makeup before
then I would recommend using a shimmery shade like this which is quite natural
but still you will see it when the light hits the eye and this you can apply with
your finger and now with the rest which is left on my finger I'm going a little
bit above right underneath my crease and then I'm going to take a fluffy brush so
now I'm going to take the fluffy brush I'm just going to wipe it from the left
to the right so that it melts in with the foundation so that you don't have
any harsh lines so this is now one technique so I'm going to repeat this
technique now on the other side so I'm going to take my finger and I'm digging
into the shade and now I have the right shade on my finger I'm going to do the same
I'm just applying it with my finger on my mobile it
so the mobile it is this part where your eyelid gives you some movements so this
is the mobile it and then when you open up your eye and you see this part right
here this is your crease
a little bit more to the other part and now I'm going to blend it up to my crease
so now I'm going to take a fluffy brush again I'm just going to wipe it over it
so that we will melt in with the foundation so this is now the first
technique and if you want to keep it natural this is the perfect step for you
now if you want to use a second shade then I would suggest you to take a
little bit more of a dense fluffy brush and you are going to take this one into
your crease so I'm going to take this shade right here so that you can see a
little bit of the difference and just keep it from just a little bit and you
always can extend it so if you were starting with just one dunk then blend
it out and then you will see if this is enough for you or not
and I also would recommend using a little mirror so that you can see where
your crease is so when you're looking straight into the mirror this is where
your crease is and I'm going to apply it into the crease and above so I'm going
to apply a little bit on the brush and just underneath your your eye bone this
is where the crease is I'm going to use this dense brush I'm going to use it
from the left to the right and now you already can see that it gives me this
difference
and I'm going also to connect this one with this corner right here
but it's totally up to you it's always just important that you're blending the
colors and this shade right here which I'm applying should be met so if you
have hooded eyes then you can apply this technique to your eye but just make sure
that the second shade is matte so the first doesn't matter if it's
shimmer or not but the second shade needs to be matte so now I'm going to take
the other fluffy brush again which we have used before I'm just going to work
over it blend it and this will give you a little bit more definition and also
can lift your eye
like this and now we are going to do the same thing on the other side so I'm
going to take this brush again and you always can build up any eyeshadow
and then I can blend it upwards
and now on the other side I'm going to connect this part together
and now we are going to take the fluffy brush again and we are just going to
work over it so that will blend
and this is how you can create an easy eye makeup look with just two different
eye shadows for the next step we are going to apply some mascara so that your
lashes are visible we are going to choose some mascara so I have here the
great lash by Maybelline and if it comes to applying mascara you always can mess
up your eyelid and because we have applied a beautiful eye shadow we don't
want to mess it up so for that I'm going to share this tip with you if you tilt
your head back then the lashes won't be able to touch the eyelid so you won't
mess it up so I'm going to demonstrate it so I'm just going to open up the
bottle and I'm going to tilt my head back and now I can just apply the
mascara as normal
this might look strange to you but I'm promising you your lashes aren't able to
touch your eyelids if you are doing this action
so now when it comes to let it dry so don't look up like just looking above
but just keep it straight so that your eyelashes aren't touching anything so
that they can dry normally now we are going to do the same thing on the other
side so I'm going to tilt my head back and now I can apply
so now we are going to move on to the lower lash line but if you are going to
dunk into the mascara tube again then don't pump too much air to it because
then it will dry out so to keep it as long as possible very smooth and without
clumps you just dip it in and then take it out because this just will give you a
better finish and it will also last you longer so now for the lower lash line
you don't have to tilt your head you just kind of look straight into the
mirror and apply it just make sure that you're not touching the bottom just keep
it a little bit on your lashes and you don't have to use so many coats on your
lower lash line one coat will be enough so it also depends on how thick and how
long your lashes are
so I just want to get them visible and now I'm going to let it dry and now we
will move on to the next step now for the next step we are going to add some
blush so I'm going to choose a medium fluffy brush just as a face brush and
it's more like a roundish brush and the fluffy of the brush the better you can
separate the product and it's a powder product and this one is from Maybelline
it's the blush which you can see it has a little bit more like an peachy shade
to it and it's also shimmery so now I want to add a little bit of color to my
face and also sculpt it a little bit so I'm going to dunk into it I'm going to
place it on my apples and then I'm going to wipe it towards the hairline so like
this and you can start with a little bit and you always can build it up
so and if you are going to apply to your
apples just make sure that it's not too close to your nose so the perfect like
space between your apples where you are going to apply it and your nose is when
you're taking this part right here from your nostril then you're going straight
to this point and the outer corner of your eye so where they are meeting each
other and also yo you can also take the middle of your pupil so where they are
just meeting each other this is where you can apply the blush I wouldn't go
too close because otherwise it will look a little bit like unnatural so I'm just
going to apply it like this you can also smile while you're doing it so that you
have kind of a focus where you need to apply it but then when you're going to
apply it you just can be relaxed you don't have to smile because now you know
where you are going to apply it so if you're going to smile this part right
here I'm going to apply it and I'm keeping it also towards my lashline
I wouldn't use a bigger brush for this like the one I have because otherwise
you can't really focus we are going to apply it but it should be a fluffy brush
now as a last step you just will need to get a lipstick and pop it on your lips
and if you have problems that your lipstick can bleed and I would recommend
using a lip liner at first because this will keep everything in place and if you
have any uneven lip shape then you always can just get it even with a lip
liner and I'm also going to use a liquid lipstick which dries down and it has
also a metallic sheen to it this is from Huda Beauty and I'm going to apply it
on its own but I'm just going at first to apply the lip liner
now I'm going to apply the liquid lipstick this one dries down because I
wanted it last me all day long and I just personally got the experience that
if I'm using a liquid lipstick that dries down it just works the best for me
so that's why I'm going to choose this one and I want to add a little bit more
of a shimmer to it so that's why I chose the metallic hood of beauty one I'm just
going to apply it and fill it in
so this is not a finished look which I created for you and I hope that you'll
like it and when it comes to using different products I personally do not
like to say what I'm using because it works with everything so it doesn't
always mean that high-end products are the best there are also so many
drugstore products and if you are new in a makeup world and I would suggest you
that you are going to try out maybe some drugstore products because they are less
pricey and they will give you a better world they will give you also a
beautiful result so you don't have to spend so much money if you're going to
try an experiment with some different product because you are new in the
makeup world so this is why I'm not a fan of talking about different brands
and also names because I mean you can well you can use anything what you like
it just should suit your skin type your skin tone
it also should work for yourself so you need to feel comfortable with it and if
you are a person that likes higher products and go for it but you don't
have to use only hired products so I just used now a range of my favourite
products which I'm using in my day sorry which I'm using in
my daily makeup routine and I'm just feeling comfortable with these products
and that's why I'm using them and I just hope that you liked this video and if
