Allstate's series of "Mayhem" commercials is one of the most successful ad campaigns

in recent memory.

It's easy to understand why they've caught on.

"I'm your phone, stuck down here between your seat and you console.

Playin' a little hide and seek.

Cold.

Bzz."

If you've watched these spots and felt like the guy playing Mayhem seems familiar, you're

right he's popped up in a number of shows and films over the last couple of decades.

Here are some surprising facts you didn't know about Allstate's Mayhem man, Dean Winters.

A guy walks into a bar…

Winters landed his first movie role in the 1997 Mel Gibson and Julia Roberts thriller

Conspiracy Theory.

But that wasn't Winters' first screen acting gig overall.

In the 1995 TV season, he had a recurring role as Tom Marans on NBC's acclaimed police

drama Homicide: Life on the Street.

He got that part via [vee-ah] his connection with Homicide creator and producer Tom Fontana.

Up to that point, Winters had primarily paid the bills with a bartending job in New York

City.

Fontana walked into Winters' Upper East Side bar at about 2 A.M. one night and the two

struck up a friendship.

Fontana offered to write a role into the show for Winters, and eventually he accepted.

It turned into a good decision for the young actor - when Fontana moved on to create the

prison drama Oz for HBO, he wrote the role of Ryan O'Reily specifically for Winters.

30 Rock runaway

For viewers of the Tina Fey sitcom 30 Rock, Winters will always be Dennis Duffy, Liz Lemon's

sleazy, on-again-off-again boyfriend.

"It's a fancy briefcase.

Cuz you're classy and important, like a dude."

"Thank you Dennis."

Duffy's many quirks made him a fan favorite, but he almost didn't get the gig.

Winters later said:

"I went to the audition for 30 Rock - I walked in, and there was, like, 30 guys up there

reading for my role, and [...] they were the funniest guys in New York City."

Faced with that level of talented competition, Winters bolted.

When his talent agency found out about it, they issued an ultimatum: Go back to the audition,

or they'd drop him as a client.

Needless to say, Winters went back - and got the gig.

"Dennis what are you doing?"

"I'm gonna mount a TV on your wall, I just, I can't find a stud."

He actually died

One morning in June 2009, Winters awoke with a fever and stayed in bed all day.

The next morning he went to his doctor's office, and that's where he collapsed.

He later told Page Six:

"I was turning black, and my whole head was swelling up."

An ambulance raced Winters to the hospital, but on the way, his heart stopped… for two

and a half minutes.

Paramedics revived him, and he wound up spending three weeks in intensive care to recover from

a bacterial infection.

Winters was too sick to work for a year.

Right before his brush with mortality, he'd filmed a pilot for an ABC show called Happy

Town, and when it was picked up, producers replaced him.

However, exactly one year and a day after he collapsed, his best-known work hit screens

when Allstate launched its "Mr. Mayhem" campaign.

"Mommy!

Mommy mommy!"

Avoiding Mayhem

Winters almost didn't live to make those Mayhem ads - and in fact, he almost didn't appear

in them at all.

After his medical nightmare, he had to re-learn how to walk.

He explained:

"I was feeling sorry for myself - I had lost toes and half a thumb and the tip of my nose

fell off - and this nurse took me to the children's burn unit.

I saw these eight kids with prosthetic legs playing soccer and I thought, 'That's it.'

That's the moment when I turned everything around and decided to learn how to walk again."

When Allstate Insurance sought him out to play the Mayhem guy in its huge commercial

campaign, Winters turned them down at first.

He told HuffPost Live:

"When they offered me the commercial, I said no.

My smartass remark was that I became an actor so I wouldn't have to put on a suit and sell

insurance.

And then my agent slapped me around and said, 'Come on, get real.'"

Active career

Shooting a string of 30-second TV commercials is Dean Winters' most widely known gig, but

it leaves him enough time to do lots of acting in movies and on TV shows, where he often

plays street-smart tough guys and cops.

Since the Mayhem campaign began in 2010, Winters has surfaced on sitcoms like Brooklyn Nine-Nine

and Divorce.

In addition to his recurring roles on 30 Rock, Rescue Me, and Law & Order: SVU, Winters also

starred on Battle Creek, a short-lived CBS crime dramedy co-created by Breaking Bad's

Vince Gilligan.

Winters has also appeared in films like John Wick.

Horror shoot

As a young man, Dean Winters wrote himself an acting "bucket list" of all the different

kinds of projects he aimed to perform in someday.

He later recalled:

"I was, like, 'I want to be in a horror film, I want to be in a Western, I want to be in

this, I want to be in that."

One item Winters can cross off that list is a horror movie.

Winters played a sleazy businessman mourning his wife and dealing with amnesia in the 2002

direct-to-video release Hellraiser: Hellseeker, the sixth film in the series featuring the

spiky-headed Pinhead.

It wasn't necessarily a dream come true, however.

In fact, Winters didn't have the best time shooting the movie.

He explained:

"I took that movie at the last minute, I got to Vancouver, and if there were 120 scenes

in the movie, I think I was in 116.

And I got sick, like, at the end of the first read-through."

Winters wound up being extremely ill for three weeks out of the four-week shoot, and it didn't

help that the film was shot in a real psychiatric facility.

He added:

"I was having nightmares and seeing visions in the hospital.

It was just bananas."

The hands of Mayhem

The Leo Burnett advertising agency conceived the Mayhem ads, and in 2011, Burnett executive

vice president Nina Abnee unequivocally told Ad Age that one of the inspirations behind

Mayhem was simple, saying:

"We wanted to kick Flo's ass."

She's speaking, of course, about Allstate rival Progressive's extremely popular advertising

mascot.

Thanks in part to the Flo ad onslaught, Allstate's market share dropped for two straight years.

The Mayhem campaign reversed Allstate's fortunes with Winters' character and an emphasis on

value over price.

YouTube Star Scotty Sire Questions How We Look For Love In America In 'American Love' - Duration: 4:08.

EXCLUSIVELY premiering viral YouTube star Scotty Sire's all-new music video for 'American Love,' and he reveals the inspiration behind it

He hits the club with many of his YouTube pals!.Scotty Sire's music video for his song "American Love" is giving us major vibes

The song, which also features Grammy Award winner Elijah Blake and Myles Parrish, is the coolest club jam

And that's exactly what Scotty's going for in his music video. The video also features appearances by Scotty's friends and YouTube stars David Dobrik, Liza Koshy, Kristen McAtee, Heath Hussar, and Donna Glytch

They live it up at the club and show off their moves on the dance floor. Scotty is currently working on his debut musical project out of LA and on the road with David and Jason Nash on their Views Summer Tour

Watch the video and check out our Q&A with Scotty below!.How did you come up with the concept for the music video?

Scotty Sire: The concept for the music video was a collective effort among myself, management, and production team

It felt obvious that it should be in a club, one of the key places we tend to search for companionship, but only come away with that superficial "American love

We added a surreal effect to make me seem distant from the typical club environment

Were you inspired by anything specific?.Scotty Sire: The main source of inspiration came just from hearing the beat

It was my first song that gave a very "club" vibe, and so I went with "club" lyrics

I wanted to narrate what it's like looking for love in the wrong places. Wrong, especially for people like me and a lot of my fans, who have a strong social anxiety narrative

That's how I came up with opening the song with lines about drinking… not to turn up but just to feel comfortable amongst all the other people

Was it easy for you to get your fellow YouTube stars to appear in the video? Is that something you always had in mind?

Scotty Sire: I can't speak for other YouTube artists, but my crew is all about supporting and celebrating one another

My friends are always down to help out so it wasn't difficult to get them to stop by and make a cameo

What was your favorite part about filming the music video?

Scotty Sire: My favorite part about filming the music video was finishing

No, in all serious I liked watching how it all played out; seeing all the other people perform their parts and what creative contributions they came up with

They are all crazy creative. What was it like working with Myles and Elijah?.Scotty Sire: Working with really talented artists is always a great experience

Myles and Elijah both prepared their lyrics, came and performed their parts and got the job done, like the pros they are

I think it's because of them the song is good!

You said in one of your YouTube videos that the "American Love" video had the highest production value of any of your videos

has the experience got you thinking about future music videos and what you would want to do?

Scotty Sire: I'm sure there will be an opportunity in the future for another high production video, but for a while I will probably try to minimize my efforts on videos for my songs — concentrating on the music and my message

I'm trying to release an EP in August. So I'll most likely make a couple more (simple) videos, but I'll leave a few songs as just songs and see how they do on the EP

Contrary to what many may believe, YouTube fans don't always need pretty pictures to appreciate the perspectives my team and I share

[English] How to Make Chinese Meat Pancakes (肉饼)[中文字幕] - Duration: 10:09.

Hello everyone welcome to my channel my name is Ling I want to show you guys

today how to make some Chinese meat pancakes or meat pies or 肉饼(Rou Bing)

Chinese pancakes are some of my favorite things to make because they are very simple to

make they taste great, but they really only require three or four ingredients

So let's get started O(∩_∩)O

You will need 1 cup of flour about 250 grams of ground pork

it doesn't have to be exactly But if you buy your ground pork from supermarkets

like Jewel-Osco or Mariano's or any supermarket, it's about half a pack

I usually just freeze the other half and save it for next time...and you will need

about this much of green onion if you're not a big fan of green onions feel free

to use less, on the other hand if you love green onions, also feel free to use more

Anyways, more or less, green onions won't ruin the flavor of your pancake

Usually I use more than this, but these green onions are from my backyard and

these are actually all I have left today About 2 to 4 tablespoons of soy sauce

I used the three if you don't really like soy sauce or if

you don't really have any feel free to use salt instead but I highly recommend

soy sauce because I think it really brings out the flavor of the pancake

Now, let's get started Let's make the dough first so this was the 1 cup of flour

You're going to add in some water but only a little bit at a time

Really take your time and I will show you what consistency you should be

looking for As you can see we're not quite there yet so I had to add

more water, which is okay. Just make sure to take your time and

do not add too much water at once

This is the consistency that you should be looking for

You should stop adding more water as soon as everything starts coming

together into a single dough Notice that I have only been using my chopsticks

If you don't have chopsticks you can use a spoon but you should not be dipping your

hands into the dough yet

Now it's time to use your hand Just use your hand to

roll this thing into a nicer looking dough after that you just want to cover

it with a plate or lid and let it sit for about 20 minutes meanwhile we can

start making the filling

as you can see here I already cut the green onions into

small pieces and to make the filling you just have to mix the ground beef (I meant pork) the soy

sauce and the green onions all together

now this is the most exciting and most important part that we are going to

assemble everything all together so the recipe makes two pancakes so you will

only need half of the dough first Dust the working surface with a generous

amount of flour this will make sure that your dough does not stick to your

working surface Now you want to roll your dough into a square shape

remember we let the dough sit for about 20 minutes before rolling it out so

letting it sit for about 20 minutes actually makes it a lot easier to roll out

Take your time just slowly roll out your dough into a square shape

So you want to be flipping your dough back and forth like what I am doing here and and

re-dust your working surface with more flour if necessary this would make

sure that your dough does not stick to your working surface

you can stop once your dough reaches about this big as you can see that I

kind of messed up one of the corners, that's okay so when we add in the

filling we can just fold in that corner first it will not affect our

final product So I will show you what I mean here

Remember to use only half the filling because remember we only used

half of the dough So just to spread

your filling evenly onto the dough

Alright now we need to cut the pancake So imagine that you are cutting your

pancake into nine equal pieces but don't cut it yet Okay so we're not going to

cut all the way through So you only want to cut the top and the bottom 1/3 as

you can see here you want to leave the middle portion uncut and I'm trying to

show you here with my hand so that would be the portion that you do not want to cut

And then you want to do the same thing on the other side so only cut the

top and the bottom 1/3

and now you want to start folding your pancakes so as you

can see I fold in the part that I messed up first And just fold in everything

like so... perfect so this will give your final product multiple layers which will

make your pancake crispy on outside and soft on the inside

Put the first pancake back in the bowl and then you can repeat the same process with the other half of

the dough and the filling

Alright now it's time to roll out your pancake so

put that a first pancake back onto your working surface

Dust your working surface again and you want to gently roll out your pancake so you want to

gently press and roll it out

also you don't want your pancake to be too thin so if you roll it out too

aggressively that is going to actually push all the filling to the outside like

the edges so you don't want that to happen

That looks about right so I'd say your pancakes should be about quarter of an inch thick

Okay so that looks good Put some oil in the pan and you want to

be using medium heat here Give the oil about 30 seconds to heat up and then put

in your pancake so you want to leave your pancake in there for about

a minute

Put on a lid, it will help cooking the inside of the pancake

After about a minute turn your pancake over to the other side to cook the other side

You want to cook the other side for about another minute

You should be flipping your pancake back and forth for about three to four times

until your pancake gets fully cooked At this point our pancake looks really

crispy and golden on both sides and we're done!

Cut each pancake into four pieces and serve

Look at those nice layers!

Alright so that was how to make

Chinese meat pancakes If you guys liked today's video or if you guys like

Chinese food please give this video a thumbs up and if you guys would like to

watch more videos please subscribe down below If any of you happen to make some

of those meat pancakes I would love to see some pictures of them on Instagram

or Twitter at dumplingling01 thank you guys for your support thank

you guys for watching and I will see you guys next time

Bye! (づ ̄3 ̄)づ╭❤~
