Waching daily Jul 22 2018

What's up everybody this is Master Ian Gamer and as we move ever closer to the 2018 summer

Overwatch event, now is the perfect time to start getting hyped for all the new content

it could have in store for us.

While I already talked about its start date and the possibility of the event getting massively

reworked in a previous video of mine, today I want to focus exclusively on what kinds

of cool new skins we could be seeing this year!

There have been countless ideas floating around the Overwatch community, so here I'm going

to be sharing some of my favorites that I would love to see make it into the game!

And without further ado, let's dive right in!

So looking at the past two years of Summer Games skins, most of them have fit into one

of two aesthetic themes, being Sports and Beach.

So to start, let's take a look at some possible Sports skins we could be getting.

First up, is Boxer Doomfist.

Given that Doomfist is canonically versed in many hand to hand fighting styles, it would

make sense for him to have at least some skill as a boxer.

The only problem I really see with this skin idea is Doomfist's asymetric design where

he has the massive gauntlet on only one arm, while most boxers wear gloves on both.

However, I trust that Blizzard can find a creative way to work around this while maintaining

the boxer appearance.

Next up we have Fencer Genji.

Not only do we already see Genji fencing in his Summer Games spray, but the outfit would

fit well with his character design given that fencers wear full body suits with large masks.

It would be a nice variant from the many ninja-esque skins that he already has, and additionally

the design of a fencing sword would look visually unique from any of his other weapon skins

currently.

Moving on to Winston, a lot of people have speculated that he could get some kind of

volleyball jersey given that his Summer Games spray is volleyball.

While this isn't a bad idea, I think it would be cool if he got a skin that better

emphasized his primate side, which is why I'd like to see him as a mountain climber!

While gorilla's are in fact largely ground dwelling creatures, we know from the Horizon

Lunar Colony that they must have had at least some experience with rock climbing, so with

the right gear equipped I'm sure Winston could take on any rock face he encounters.

The skin itself might involve a helmet and an overabundance of rope and carabiners hanging

off him.

His gun could maybe be fashioned into some kind of large rock climbing pick, although

that could be a bit of a stretch.

Overall, I think it'd be a fun idea, and is one that I haven't really seen any people

suggest yet!

Taking a look now at one of the more popular skin ideas overall recently, we have a sports

ball skin for Wrecking Ball.

Now I already mentioned this idea in my previous Hammond skins prediction video, but it's

certainly worth mentioning here since the Summer Games would be the perfect time for

him to get one.

As for the actual design of the skin, it could be made to look like a soccer ball, beach

ball, volley ball, really just about anything.

Additionally, Hammond himself could get either some kind of sports jersey to make him look

like a player, or even a referee shirt given that he would in fact be the ball.

Regardless, it's a super popular idea that many would love to see in game.

Lastly before I wrap up the Sports themed skin ideas, we have nationality specific Epic

skins.

Now the only reason I'm even mentioning these is because we had the leaked Sombra

Mexico skin.

If you aren't familiar with this leak than you can check out the video I made covering

it, but in short it looks like we may be getting more Epic skins colored to match certain heroes'

nations of origin, just like what we saw back in 2016.

This could be applied to most of the game's current playable heroes, so there's quite

a few possible candidates.

Anyways, moving on now to the possible Beach theme skins, this is where we get a TON of

great possibilities!

The first of which is Lifeguard Mercy.

In my opinion, this skin is pretty much inevitable.

If we don't get it this year, it'll come next year.

If not next year, then the year after that.

It just works so well for her character, and I'm sure lots of players would love to see

her in a swimsuit.

I'm not sure exactly what they would do for her wings.

Possibly they would just be made out of water or mist.

But for her caduceus staff they could give her either some kind of pool skimmer or lifeguard

pole that you would use to save someone from drowning.

All around, a really cool skin idea, and it would go really well with Lifeguard McCree

if you have both on the same team!

Continuing with the aquatic theme, we have Diver D.Va, complete with a Shark or Orca

mech.

It's been over a year since D.Va got a new event skin, and likewise this skin idea and

artwork has been around almost as long as Overwatch itself at this point, and it still

stands as one of the best looking summer skin ideas in my opinion.

However, instead of getting an aquatic animal themed mech, it could also be designed to

look like a submarine.

The default mech as is already strongly resembles some kind of submersible vehicle, so I could

just as easily and may even prefer seeing Blizzard go with something like this for her.

Additionally, instead of giving pilot D.Va a wetsuit and snorkel, she might get some

kind of sailor outfit, which if nothing else would be a bit more visually unique and interesting

when compared to her standard jumpsuit.

Moving onto a different hero but still sticking with the submersible theme, we might also

get a skin like this for the other mech based hero in Overwatch, being Wrecking Ball.

Given that many submarines feature a largely spherical design, I could see Blizzard modeling

the mech in this way, and once again giving Hammond himself either a diver or sailor outfit

to match.

Similarly, Blizzard might go with a more vintage design and turn Wrecking Ball into a heavy

metal diving bell.

It could fit better with the "dense wrecking ball" aspect of the hero, and might even

be adorned with seaweed and other deep sea flora and fauna to give it an aged, rustic

look.

And speaking of vintage deep sea divers, there are other heroes who could easily get this

kind of skin, too.

For example there's a really good artist's rendition of Diver Roadhog, where he has a

diving helmet mask, harpoon hook, and puffer fish gas canisters.

Roadhog may already have quite a few aquatic and island based skins, but this one would

still fit him well.

Pharah also could even get a skin like this.

It may be a bit of a stretch, but I could see the diving suit being her armor, oxygen

tanks for her jetpack, and a torpedo launcher instead of rockets.

The idea of a flying diver might be a little weird, but hey, we've had stranger.

The other major candidate I could see getting a deep sea diver skin would be Reinhardt.

Like Pharah, the suit and helmet would easily fit his armored design, and he could wield

a massive anchor as a hammer.

Maybe even some kind of propellers would be used instead of rockets on his hammer and

when charging?

All around another great idea, especially since Reinhardt, like D.Va, has been getting

the short end of the cosmetics stick for quite a while now.

But thankfully, there are a number of other summer skin ideas we might see for him as

well.

One of these other ideas would be just a typical poolside or beach outfit.

The bulkiness of his armor could be made up of some kind of pool floaties and his hammer

could be an inflatable toy.

However, hands down my favorite summer skin idea for Reinhardt is the Greek god Poseidon.

Rein's armor could easily be made up of shells and other kinds of ocean decoration,

his shield could be some kind of water barrier, and his charge ability some kind of waterjet

propulsion.

But, most importantly of all, his hammer would be a trident.

Overall this idea just feels so fitting for Reinhardt, that I might have to peg it as

my number one most wanted skin for the upcoming Summer Games event.

Please Blizzard, you NEED to make this happen.

But, moving on from Reinhardt while still sticking with the aquatic theme, we have sunken

Bastion.

Mainly taking inspiration from his appearance at the beginning of the Binary comic, this

is a look that me and many others have loved since the comic's release.

Now, if Blizzard were to make it a true Legendary skin, they'd probably have to do more than

just plaster a few starfish and octopuses on him, which is why I think they should redesign

Bastion's body to resemble something like either a deep sea probe or sunken ship.

If the latter, they could give him some kind of rotted wood texture, kind of like two of

his default Legendary skins, to make the skin feel more unique.

And that wraps up my Beach themed skin ideas, but I'm not done quite yet.

While Sports and Beach have been the themes used in previous years, who's to say we

won't get a completely new theme for some of the cosmetics this year?

Summer Games after all has some of the greatest potential for theme diversity out of any of

the Overwatch events, so what are some other summertime activities we could see represented?

What about camping?

I could see heroes like McCree or Soldier: 76 getting some kind of boy scout or wilderness

explorer skins.

Overall, there's quite a bit of potential when it comes to summer skins, so I'm fully

expecting Blizzard to throw us at least a few curveballs that nobody would see coming!

But, now that I've shared my favorite new skin ideas, I want all of you guys to share

yours!

Don't lose faith.

I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved

what I did.

You've got to find what you love.

And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers.

Your work is going to fill a large part of your life,

and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work.

And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.

If you haven't found it yet, keep looking.

Don't settle.

your parents will not go to work for you.

your relatives, your neighbours, your friends, your teachers or anyone telling you to do

something is not going to live your life.

It is you who should decide! find the thing that will make you happy, find

the thing which is not a task or some work for you.

Money is secondary, there is always a way out.

however, if you do what you love and love what you do that is the only fullfilment in

life.

and once you reach that point, once you are a master of things you love, you will have

all those things in life but then you will realise these materialistic things make no

difference.

SO WHEN ARE YOU STARTING?

What do you desire?

What makes you itch?

What sort of a situation would you like?

Let's suppose, I do this often in vocational guidance of students, they come to me and

say, well, "we're getting out of college and we have the faintest idea what we want

to do".

So I always ask the question, "what would you like to do if money were no object?

How would you really enjoy spending your life?"

Well, it's so amazing as a result of our kind of educational system, crowds of students

say well, we'd like to be painters, we'd like to be poets, we'd like to be writers,

but as everybody knows you can't earn any money that way.

Or another person says well, I'd like to live an out-of-doors life and ride horses.

I said you want to teach in a riding school?

Let's go through with it.

What do you want to do?

When we finally got down to something, which the individual says he really wants to do,

I will say to him, you do that and forget the money, because, if you say that getting

the money is the most important thing, you will spend your life completely wasting your

time.

You'll be doing things you don't like doing in order to go on living, that is to

go on doing things you don't like doing, which is stupid.

Better to have a short life that is full of what you like doing than a long life spent

in a miserable way.

And after all, if you do really like what you're doing, it doesn't matter what it

is, you can eventually turn it – you could eventually become a master of it.

It's the only way to become a master of something, to be really with it.

And then you'll be able to get a good fee for whatever it is.

So don't worry too much.

That's everybody is – somebody is interested in everything, anything you can be interested

in, you will find others will.

But it's absolutely stupid to spend your time doing things you don't like, in order

to go on spending things you don't like, doing things you don't like and to teach

our children to follow in the same track.

See what we are doing, is we're bringing up children and educating to live the same

sort of lifes we are living.

In order that they may justify themselves and find satisfaction in life by bringing

up their children to bring up their children to do the same thing, so it's all retch,

and no vomit it never gets there.

And so, therefore, it's so important to consider this question: What do I desire?

When I was 17, I read a quote that went something like:

"If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right."

It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years,

I have looked in the mirror every morning and asked myself: "If today were the last

day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today?"

And whenever the answer has been "No" for too many days in a row,

I know I need to change something.

Remembering that I'll be dead soon is the most important

tool I've ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life.

Because almost everything all external expectations, all pride,

all fear of embarrassment or failure - these things just fall away in the face of

death, leaving only what is truly important.

Remembering that you are going to die is the best

way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose.

You are already naked.

There is no reason not to follow your heart.

No one wants to die.

Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there.

And yet death is the destination we all share.

No one has ever escaped it.

And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best

invention of Life.

It is Life's change agent.

It clears out the old to make way for the new.

Right now the new is you, but someday not too long from now,

you will gradually become the old and be cleared away.

Sorry to be so dramatic, but it is quite true.

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life.

Don't be trapped by dogma which is living with the results of other people's thinking.

Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner

voice.

And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and

intuition.

They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

Everything else is secondary.

Stay Hungry.

Stay Foolish.

I'm Giuseppe, from giuseppepipia.com, and this is an extract from the documentary

about Easter in Caltabellotta.

After the Resurrection mass, the cathedral will be again the protagonist of the

most waited event by the young people of Caltabellotta: the exit of Saint Michael.

The wait gets more trepidatious. The youth, not only in age but

mainly in the spirit, of Caltabellotta, gathered on Di Leo square,

travel through the Madrice street, along with the band that plays the hymn of Saint Michael.

Such hymn, the "sanmichilata", appeared at the beginning of 20th century, but

sadly the author is not known, although it might well be a local.

The guys crowd the steps of the cathedral, and beg the opening of the front door

to finally withdraw Saint Michael.

At 5:30 am the front door spreads out.

The guys flood the cathedral and take Saint Michael out, with an extraordinary stamina,

alternating runs and undulating and up&down movements, "abballata" in dialect, to announce

Christ's resurrection and to search for the Madonna among all the streets of the town.

Top 10 Scary Times A Dog Saw A Ghost - Duration: 8:17.

Sometimes on this chanel, I talk about life, the unviverse, history, politics, science,

religion, sport, music or art - huge topics that explore the human condition.

Today, Im going to go further than Ive ever gone before.

Today Ive got a video for you that will go down in YouTube history.

It will change your life for - well for about the next 10 minutes.

My name is Danny Burke, and this is the Top 10 Scary Times A Dog Saw A Ghost.

Starting off at number 10 we have The Lady.

In February 2017, a story appeared in a number of newspapers.

Tim Welty, a 25 year old from Virginia, was visiting his parents.

They had asked him to fix their computer which he did.

He also set up some cameras so that his parents could keep an eye on their dog.

They were all VERY freaked out when this was one of the first things they saw.

There appears to be some sort of figure hovering over the sofa that none of them saw in person.

They believe its a civil war maid who died there many years ago.

Although they didnt see it, they believe their cocker spaniel definitely did.

The dog appears to be staring right at the figure, its ears pointed up in alarm.

Next up at number 9 we have Zoey.

Thats the name of this dog owned by Zack Clark.

Zoey was just a puppy in this video.

Zack picked up the camera when she started growling at barking at seemingly nothing.

At one point she even backs up in fear.

Zack titled the video -Dog sees a ghost- so it seems like he's already made his mind up

- but what do you guys think?

He said there was nobody in the house at that time, just him and Zoey.

Is she just being a daft puppy?

Or is this canine contact with the afterlife?

More coming in at number 8 now with Annie.

We join Cy Jarvis for this video.

He explains that his dog Annie kept growling at the door at around 10:30 at night.

He thought it was just because she wanted to be let out but when he opened the door,

she wouldnt budge.

This video has gained almost 2 million views with almost 6,000 comments discussing what

exactly was making Annie behave in the way she did.

See what you guys think.

Next up at number 7 we have Bark.

The dogs weve looked at so far have been a bit quiet when seeing the alleged ghosts - perhaps

its fear - but this dog seems to have a very different reaction.

It was uploaded by Valerie Brown in 2013, have a listen.

I think the weird part is that the dog seems to move its attention, as if its tracking

a moving object.

Sometimes dogs bark at one spot for no reason but this one clearly seems to be following

movement.

Its ears are pricked and it seems skittish, its either seeing something or its a very

good actor …

Coming in at number 6 now we have Pixie.

This is a Jack Russel Terrier that works as a ghost hunter.

You heard me right.

Pixie is part of a team that investigate the paranormal.

They take Pixie along because they say shes shown an aptitude for detecting ghosts.

They analyse her body language to see if she can sense something her owners cant.

They look for when she stops unexpectedly, sniffs the air, barks or if shes agitated

in any way.

In the video youre seeing now, Pixie is taken to the Pickering Creek Inn which has had a

number of ghost sitings.

Pixie is drawn to the basement where an old underground railway used to run under the

inn.

Was it just a lucky guess or is Pixie on to something?

Moving on to number 5 now we have The Orb.

This is a picture thats been shared a lot online appearing to show a dog playing with

a Globule Orb, otherwise known as a Ghost Orb.

Ghost hunters say these often show up in photos and videos and believe they are the soul of

a deceased person.

They say humans struggle to see these things, cameras can pick them up though - and animals,

including dogs.

The person who took this picture believes thats exactly whats going on here.

They say the dog is investigating the orb that the picture taker simply didnt see at

the time.

At the number 4 now we have The Rocking Chair.

This clup was uploaded by Squardwardlosser in 2009 and simply titled -dog gets scared

by ghost- … and thats exactly what seems to happen.

The dog is chilling on the floor when allof a sudden, this happens.

As the chair rocks, a noise can be heard off camera.

The dog, although scared, goes to investigate the noise, which sounds like its moving back

on to the screen - then again we see the chair rocking towards the end of the video, seeming

to confirm that the first time wasnt just a fluke.

Next up at number 3 we have Louis.

This 6 month old beagle was caught on camera barking and growling at something in the kitchen

of a house.

He seemed to focus the majority of it at an open cupboard in front of him.

The uploader said that Louis had been known in the past to wake them up in the middle

of the night, barking and growling at something unseen.

They usually have to let him out so he can patrol the house and once he's had a look,

he can calm down and go to sleep.

This time was different though.

Nothing could calm him.

Little louis just kept barking at the cupboard - see what you make of it …

Moving on to number 2 now we have The Mummy.

This clip was uploaded by Megan Brooks to YouTube in 2014 - she titled it -Dog sees

ghost, protects owner- … what from?

Well, it seems to be the Egyptian statue at the end of the hallway, take a look.

As the clip goes on, its quite clear that the dog has to be scared of the statue, theres

nothing else there except a few boxes and papers.

When this clip was first shared around online, people instantly started speculating that

the dog can see the physical embodiment of an Ancient Egyptian Curse.

Is there some sort of spirit attached to the statue that humans simply cant see?

Either way, the dog seems nervous at what he sees but not scared enough to run.

Good boy.

Good boy.

And finally at number 1 we have Alfie.

Thats the name of this dog owned by Tracy Albrighton.

She uploaded this clip in September 2014.

Little Alfie is up on her bed and barking incessantly at the door - check it out.

At first I thought it might be the light on the door but no, he doesnt seem to be looking

at that.

He seems to be looking at something standing in the doorway, it just seems to get creepier

as it goes on.

He's not just barking, he's also growling, as if he's ready for a fight.

Those who say he's seen a ghost insist that it must be a malevolent one, an evil spirit

of sorts.

I think the creepiest part of this is the fact that Alfie keeps staring at the same

spot in the doorway, which means whatever ghost he sees isnt moving - its just staring

right back at them …

LGBTQ Literature Readathon June Wrap Up - Duration: 19:11.

my name is Oly Bliss this is my channel f#Bookdraw for those who don't

know I enjoy looking at queer fiction and occasionally I'll create images out

there today I'm doing a wrap-up from June where I was particularly focusing

on a lot of queer related books so the first one was the fifth season by

N.K. Jemisin so this is a kind of epic fantasy which is done across three books

and I did it as a not what you read which really father did however the only

criticism I would say with having an audio read before an epic fantasy there

is the benefit of that you all the world-building with anything kind of

fantasy or science fiction is usually something that takes a little bit of

time to adjust to but I was listening the glossary and like I know now that

there is this big glossary at the end where it can explain everything else and

so when I was first kind of going along with it it took me a little while to get

my head into some of the terminology that was being used the benefit of doing

audio is someone else is going through that terminology for you and you just

become more familiar with the sounds of the words and since because it was

something that I actually listened to at the beginning of the month I went back

to wiki you know some of the terminology and it's all there so if you are doing

it as an audio read you always have Wikipedia do you always have these

resources that's a hand so basically it's following three different main

storylines but then there's a whole series of other side characters which

are integrated into this but it's mainly three female protagonists and they live

in this world which is kind of like Pangea where we used to have all our

continents squished together into one supercontinent so they live in a world

which is like that and what's really interesting is the magic system is all

kind of based around the kinetic energy and magnaflow's of

the the continent and there are this group of people who can tap into that

where they can actually pull from the Earth's energy and they're called

Orogenes and and they have this ability the ability to manipulate the heat and

the energy flow but what's also kind of scarier is that if they can't withdraw

that this heat they as an energy source they can withdraw it from human beings

and so they freeze but every time the magic is used it's really beautifully

illustrated and you really go in through the eyes of the person who is casting

that magic so I really really enjoyed that part

what kind of clutched for me slightly is that one of the characters and some so

at the beginning she has two children one of them gets murdered and then the

rest of her journey is trying to search for her daughter and but for some reason

it like it's particularly when you were hearing yet it is doing it for a second

person narrative but and it really jarred with me because I was like what

me or I cuz also preserves listening to I was like it's you a character named

and there's like no no this is actually me and I am now this person so that

jarred with me a little bit but um you kind of get over it you guys just go

with the flow vignette yeah with a magnet flavor and micro flow and just go

along with the ride but the other characters I really really enjoyed or

particularly liked one of the characters called Simon I so syenite has this

ability rush um and she's got these four rings so that is a demonstration of her

kind of level of ability and she's brought together with alabasta who's a

ten rigueur so he's like super powerful and it's interesting to see the dynamic

of their relationship and how their relationship evolves through the course

of their time together and it quite goes into some polyamory

territory there which I actually really enjoyed listening to and how that was

kind of constructed and the roles of the relationship and that was the kind of

queer element within it as well but I believe that some of this queerness will

continue to expand through the rest of the trilogy from people that spoken to

but I just thought it was quite a refreshing tone in terms of the

relationships that were in there and what their roles were together I felt

like from reading it I was only really being introduced to what the rest of the

world is and so it's it's actually left me wanting more and I I would i really

enjoyed the ride with it the next one was what I was talk about is let's talk

about love which is by Claire Kann and let's talk about love because I love

this book I think this might be like a read of the year for me so this is all

about Alice and and she has just broken up with Margot and so she's actually

asexual and that was the kind of root cause of why they broke up and she's

working in the library which I also found really cute as well just because

you you kind of want to be there you able to be in the world that she's

living in and she's got this color code system where she kind of sees other

people and as a level of attraction to her and so previously like everyone's

been different shades of like yellow and green up to orange but then there's this

new guide to Kimmie who comes in to the library and she starts working with him

and she is like knocked off a socks off surrett across the floor she doesn't

know what's going on she doesn't know how to describe him like she's got all

the fields and so he becomes code black and she's like this guy is doing things

for her and she she is kind of a bit confused by what those feelings mean to

her so then she goes for a bit counseling and she gets them support

learning about the difference between attraction and desire

so and how they are actually separate entities to each other because I've

never really kind of considered it before or mold much on it and because

this book was introduced to me through ChrisVigilante own perpetual pages and

so Adriana today have like explained what it means to be asexual and because

I was finding it quite confusing and difficult to kind of grasp like that

some of the language in some of the how that feeling feels but reading about

this separation between attraction and desire really kind of spelled it out for

me so like in terms of for me personally

the realm to relate that to it's like I can see someone like Zac Efron is very

attractive like I think he's an attractive guy he's very pretty

but I there was just no desire there for me personally whereas if you can to

compare him with someone like Gerard Butler or Idris Elba

desire like I'm into that but I would see all of them as attracted people

attracted men but I like what gets me kind of going and gets me interested is

some of the attributes that both be able to display over someone like Zac Efron

so it kind of helped lock or unlock some things in my thinking as well and I

think that's why I appreciated this more so even if you're not someone who's ace

like there is a lot that you can get out of there and it was just it was fun it

was really fun and it was really endearing and sweet and joyous and I was

just wrapped up in it I you just wanted to chill out with her and just hang out

and oh yeah I'd love to know where she goes on what happens to them next and

and the ending is just the so super cute I was yeah I was really into this so the

next one in which oh and and red was the Brightsiders which was a part of the

readathon where they did a read along with and that was Theory Rogan and

Kathy and and I hadn't even heard about this book it was wasn't on my radar at all

what I particularly liked about this book is that it was really positive

about different forms of queer representation throughout the book so

the Brightsider is focusing on Emma King who is a bisexual female character

who's a drummer in a band and they're doing really really well and she's on

the cusp of like going to start to explore what it would be like to sing

and there is all this kind of ongoing media based drama where she's kind of

fallen a little bit off the rail and she's trying to rectify some of the bad

things in her life and I particularly thought was great as Emma's not the most

self-confident character but she has a level of self-awareness and she knows

some things in her life aren't right and it's through her friendships and the

conversations that she has she's able to actually say no this isn't actually

right and there are things that are wrong in my life which I need to sort

out and an alter so there was some really positive messaging particularly

for awhile a novel which I've just really appreciated the only kind of

criticism against that is that a lot of it's attached to wealth so because she's

in this position of being a superstar she has a lot more privilege and freedom

and when she's struggling she basically hops on a plane it goes to Hawaii and

chills out and can get her headspace sorted so in terms of how that relates

on a day-to-day basis for the rest of us you kind of just have to go okay we're

living the super-rich lifestyle right now and if you had all the positions of

wealth and privilege this is how it go you're in a position

of complete control so there was something slightly jarring for me about

that but pulled me out so for the next one which want to read and I just want

to gush about is the queer a graphic history so this is a graphic novel which

takes you through all the different thoughts and theories surrounding queer

theory as a structure and I just found this book fascinating sorry graphic

novel fascinating

so this is by Meg-John Barker and cartoonist Julia Scheele one of

the most interesting parts for me was talking about 'Performative Gender' so in

terms of how when we present ourselves to other people in society we are all

active and we are all acting I mean we're of that kind of concept of we are

all acting like the stage and stuff but this is really talking about how gender

is really specifically performative and how some people can react against

wanting to perform in a certain way because it doesn't necessarily sit well

with them and how there is expectations about those gender roles in which you

experience and you act out on a day-to-day basis

oh I didn't realize is that this there are all sorts of books and maybe I'll add

this as a picture on the side which go into swathes of other thinkers so

there's a whole thing on Jungian theory and Falcault and satire and psychology and

and and just like mania I just want the entire catalogue of this stuff because

it's super easy to digest and really quick and easy consumer or introductions

to quite heavy material so the next one and was a buddy read which I did from

Adam from mementomori and Shawn the book maniac and was going alongside a heap

load of other people it was it was like the biggest

but II read that I've been involved with but there's that too kind of spearheaded

the idea and I um I was just impacted in by Shawn and so I don't know anything

about Muriel Spark before this point and this is her first book that she wrote

and Shawn was just like do you want to take part yeah sure why not kind of

going outside of what I was trying to achieve with my Pride Month but then it

turned out that had a quick character and and the way in which they were

discussing the characters and the uncle who is gay it was that quite like

preparing to me in some ways because there is lots of things within this

which are wrapped up around religion and So Mureil Spark's lead character Caroline is

kind of I would say like Caroline kind of ears morose bark within this but her

character is aware that she's in a book or she becomes aware that she's in a

book and the other people around her are kind of characters within this crime

strict and she's working out how she thinks and feels within that narrative

and what it means to her and there's a lot of metaphysical fiction at play

within this book which really pickled my brain and as I was going through it and

because I didn't have some of the context of who she was and what she was

about and actually Adam was really really helpful in terms of providing

this breadth of context which helped me just lock in and understand who she was

but she's quite playful and devious with her to have perceptions of religion and

her relationship and so she she converts to Catholicism but she's also quite

cynical and highlights the hypocrisy now exists within religion but she has this

kind of develop faith and anything that you think that were hurt really was

she's having this conversation with the young core and it concludes with her

saying but it there's something I'm denying wrong with a person being gay in

terms of through scripture or interview what's outlined in the Bible and it's

something that she can't argue against and for me someone who is really

questioning what religion means and was quite playful and provocative with it

within the book who can kind of reveal things and look at things in a queen of

quizzing a fun light-hearted way and kind of poke holes and but was led to

the conclusion that still someone who was gay was wrong

that that hurts that

hurts that someone has that mentality but then further on down the book she

later says 'that other people may have problems with you but I don't'

so instead of me interpreting what she was saying that like you can't deny what

is written in the Bible itself but it's not something that necessarily affects

her and she doesn't see you and actually a mementomori was am saying how she

ends up living with women for the last part of her life and so potentially she

might be a bit queer herself and pursue that because it was it kind of was a

book which I really like grappled with and conceptually and there's so many

layered different bits within this book that it's well though it's quite it's

light it's doing a lot and it was doing a lot in a quite playful way but in a

really unexpected way and having the insights of everybody else apart from

that who are a part of that group really added to the depth of the experience of

reading it like I would not have got as much out of this book had I read this in

isolation by myself if you want to do a group read on a book

this is a book which I really encourage people to explore collectively rather

than in isolation because the thing you could look at it in quite a narrow and

quick way but if you actually give it time and actually pick some of the

things that being told within this story it just adds a lot more layers to it and

it became quite a rich read for me by the end which I just wasn't expecting I

thought it would be kind of quick and frivolous and it turned out to not be

and to be really epic and cool in the end

so those are all books which I read

in the month of June I know this probably a bit late I seem to be like

telling you a month later what happened in the previous month on a regular basis

and we just kind of go with that as a theme showing but I have loved this

month in terms of the reading that I've done all the stories there has not been

a bad read this month it's been so good so good and like that the queer history

is something that I will be dipping back into just to kind of remind myself of

some of those concepts and kind of making me look at the world more

critically critically in terms of what are you all doing here

why are we behaving in this way but anyway this is enough for me I've had a

really good time telling you about this update and I'll see you again real soon

Opinion | If Democrats Want To Win, They Need To Get Radical - Duration: 9:57.

Tom Williams via Getty Images  As we face the near daily crises of 2018 ― worsening climate change, stagnating wages and rising autocracy, one of the rare points of agreement across the political spectrum is that Democrats should be less extreme

It's unseemly to challenge Trump administration officials through acts of civil disobedience, we're told

It's ungracious to stall or stymie President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh with parliamentary tricks

It's unjust to consider the impeachment of a president who aligned himself with a hostile attacker over our own intelligence services

 But it is unacceptable to maintain the status quo.  We face extraordinary challenges

We have a health care system that requires the victims of mass shootings to crowdfund their recoveries, inflates the cost of lifesaving drugs at a whim and grotesquely penalizes chronically ill and disabled people

Our economy compensates workers with meager wages despite record corporate profits, demands debt to make basic investments in our education at every level and creates a cultural atmosphere that routinely criticizes us for the tiniest indulgences

A paramilitary operation that willfully perpetrates an inhumane and illegal family separation policy and is overseen by inveterate liars has free rein under the auspices of this administration

 These conditions call for dramatic solutions. Overhauling the layered complexities of our health care system or abolishing a federal agency may seem radical on its face, but that perception rests on divorcing the substance of the policies from the reasons they are necessary

Liberals do not seek to abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement because they want to destroy agencies, but because they seek to end the harms perpetrated by this particular office

 Americans are not seeking to overthrow the world, but to build a system that values and invests in our success and has mercy for our failures

In search of this, we have marched and organized and engaged in civil disobedience and protest

We handed a three-million-vote margin to the most progressive platform in decades in the previous election

Liberals do not seek to abolish ICE because they want to destroy agencies, but because they seek to end the harms perpetrated by this particular agency

 Yet, despite the energy and enthusiasm for this vision of the country, elected Democrats have remained defensive

They chide their own constituencies for pursuing remedies to our suffering. Rather than celebrating and encouraging their base, the party seems alternately embarrassed and resentful to have it at the center of their coalition

Further, the Democratic leadership's reluctance to appreciate and endorse the very core of its support and appeal has attracted attacks and made the party too weak to endure them

 This cowardice has enabled the Republican Party to set the agenda and define the parameters of discussion

The very same party that had a presidential candidate call for the outright eradication of three Cabinet-level agencies during a debate (though only remembering two) is somehow able to paint abolishing ICE as extreme

 During that same campaign, every GOP candidate rejected a theoretical agreement in which they would receive a ten-to-one ratio of spending cuts to tax increases, in one of the most outrageous and public displays of fiscal innumeracy in American politics

The issues that animate their base — from guns and taxes to immigration and diversity — dominate our national dialogue even as majorities disagree with them, giving them outsized influence in what is meant to be a representative polity

Republicans do not even pretend to consider the lives and well-being of American citizens beyond their voters and donors, and, facing no rebuke and no consequence, they have internalized the idea that they never need to do so

 The problems that surround us are the result of an insufficiently aggressive Democratic Party conceding to right-wing radicalism

This vision for the country has eroded democracy, diminished economic mobility, degraded our environment, worsened our health, squandered the potential of an entire generation and endangered the retirement of another

SOPA Images via Getty Images  Remedying this will require a radicalism heretofore unseen from Democratic leadership

It must be a radicalism of approach, investment and policy that centers the values, stories and lives of Democratic voters and their allies

They must, as Mario Cuomo once said, campaign in poetry and govern in prose. It is a radicalism that mentions the global ubiquity of paid maternity leave in the same breath as the global prevalence of universal healthcare systems

It is a radicalism that defends, not castigates, the righteous anger of Democratic representatives, like Maxine Waters of California and Frederica Wilson of Florida, when they are under attack

It is a radicalism that does not concede to the limited Republican notion of what the country has been, and instead challenges us to embrace what the country could be

 It may seem easier to meekly preserve the Democratic legacy of the 20th century than it is to set the foundations for a new one in the 21st, but that is a false choice

Victory rests upon pushing forward an agenda designed for the problems of today while recognizing how we solved the ones of yesterday

It was not the moderation of the Democratic Party that salvaged the country from the Great Depression

It was not kindness that challenged fascism at home and abroad. It was not deference that ended de jure segregation and recognized black citizenship as American citizenship

It was radicalism.  That same spirit is necessary to protect and expand our election systems, devastate white supremacy legislatively, reduce gun violence, set a floor for American poverty, develop the energy infrastructure of the future, equalize education, encompass all American citizens within the safety and power of representation and meet the challenges that have and will come with climate change

 For the Democratic Party to survive and thrive, the days of campaigning in prose and governing in silence must end

And the table needs four legs to stand up.

And imagine that each leg represents a different

Area of Animal Rescue.

1: will be shelters and rescues.

2: would be humane education

3: Would be spay and neuter initiatives and

4: would be legislation

When you put the table legs proportionately to how much efforts are being put into each of those areas.

The table would be

off balance

This problem a pet overpopulation

Abuse neglect and euthanasia will not end until we put equal resources into proactive efforts.

There are over

12,000 rescues and shelters in the United States

Imagine how different things would be if we had over

12,000 humane education programs

or spay and neuter organizations or legislative groups
