Magic Bacteria - A cautionary tale - Duration: 6:40.

Tell me a story please Daddy. The exponential function f of x equals 2

to the x can be plotted---No, no, no. I want a mathemagical story---ahhh

about Kashun and Derring. Let me tell you about the day Derring almost

exploded the entire solar system. It all started with a visit to a new pet store

run by a strange-looking fellow named Bob.

What's in here. I don't see anything. They're bacteria.

Ooh. Thy never need to eat, and as long as there is

space in the jar they double every minute. It's exactly 1:00 right now.

Here's 1 bacterium in your jar. At 1:01 you'll have 2 bacteria.

At 1:02, you'll have four. And each purchase of one pet bacteria comes with three extra

jars for free. Wow. Thanks. But just as she got to the door the pet store owner offered a strange warning.

Whatever you do, don't let the jar get full. If the bacteria fill up the jar they die, and then the jar explodes.

Derring felt a little nervous about that detail and thought about giving the jar

back, but the bacteria were so small she thought she'd have plenty of time before

the jar got full. Kashun wasn't too enthusiastic about the new pets. I don't

see anything. They're bacteria. Agh! Why would you do that? Haven't you heard of E coli? Salmonella?

Relax. These are no ordinary bacteria. They're MAGIC. Magic?

Yep. They don't need any food, and as long as there is space in the jar

they double EVERY minute. I started with one bacterium at 1:00. Then I had 2, then 4, then 8. Take a look!

Aghh. There are 16 of them now. Aren't they cute. Uhh. They're pefect pets.

What happens when we fill up the jar? Oh, we can't let that happen

Why not? If there's no space in the jar all the

bacteria die and then the whole jar explodes. How long before the jar fills up?

Probably years. Agghh! Don't worry, we'll just give some of them away. Bob gave me 3 extra jars for free.

Kashun measured the bacteria and the jar and the rate of

growth. If the bacteria doubled every minute the jar would be full at exactly

2:00, only one hour away. Here's a puzzle for you. If the jar started with

one bacteria at 1:00 and is going to be completely full at 2:00,

when with the jar be half full?

So when will the jar be half-full? 1:30?

1:59. Whoa!

At 1:30 there were 1,073,741,824 bacteria, but they barely formed a layer

of scum on the bottom, and Derring was sure that Kashun had made a mistake in

his calculations. Uh, Derring, we have a big problem.

Ahh. Whose a good pet? These bacteria are good pets.

We're going to be in huge trouble.

Psh. Don't be ridiculous. You can't even see them without a magnifying glass.

At 1:55 the bacteria filled 3% of the jar. A bacteria named Euclid

realized the predicament and tried to convince his fellow bacteria of their

peril. Stop dividing. We're going to run out of room in five minutes.

We've always done things this way. Don't be an alarmist.

We have 31 times more empty space than full. That's plenty. But they wouldn't listen.

Your ideas make us uncomfortable. Lock him up.

They'd always done things this way before. Problem solved.

Each minute the bacteria doubled again and again and then at 1:59 the jar was half-full.

That's the awesome power of exponential growth a slow build to an explosive upward curve.

Aghh. It's half full. We've got to take it outside so the explosion doesn't burn down the house.

Relax. I'll just put them into these other jars.

How much extra time will the bacteria survive now that there are four jars?

A few more hours?

Nope. They fill up the jars in only two more minutes.

[Doorbell] Have I got a deal for you. It's a one-day sale. 28 extra jars for only $9.99.

We'll take them. Oh no.

Phew. This will buy us lots of time.

Stop! Stop! Stop! You're just delaying the inevitable explosion.

If they keep putting bacteria into jars, how much time will they have before all

32 jars explode?

5 hours?

5 minutes. Aughh!

I see your jars are almost full again.

Can I interest you in a magic device that will automatically duplicate a jar and move half the bacteria into it when the jar reaches half full?

Only $25, and the bacteria will never explode. No! It would

destroy the planet. Look at the data. In a half hour the bacteria would cover the

entire Earth in a layer of jars 2 meters thick. In an hour they reach out to the

Sun. Death, destruction, planet collapsing into a neutron star. Augh!

Or you might be interested in my flying stickers.

Attach them to the jars and they'll rise up 400 feet in the air.

Keep yourself and your loved ones safe from explosions, for a minimum monthly payment of $49.95.

Quick, not a moment to lose.

And that is how Derring almost destroyed the solar system. Fortunately for

everyone, Kashun knew enough math to model the exponential growth and save

the day. What about the bacteria?

Well it just so happens that there's one left.

Would you like it? No! Get that thing out of here.

And now our favorite part. Do we have new patrons on the table? We do. Hurray!

• Here's Why Battlefield 4 Will Outlast Battlefield 1 | Reason Behind the Success - Battlefield 4 - Duration: 4:58.

So Battlefield 4 is still doing extremely well for itself, despite the fact that it's

going to be 5 years old this October.

Battlefield V is also going to launch roughly around the same time, making Battlefield 4

one of the longest living games within the franchise we have ever played.

In fact, I believe Battlefield 4 has done so well for itself that the only time players

will move on, is when the servers are no longer available.

With the current amount of people still playing, I don't think DICE has even considered the

possibility of switching them off.

With that said, I believe Battlefield 4 will outlast Battlefield 1 by a good few years.

In fact the proof is already there.

We are seeing more and more players move away from the current game and back to what many

may consider the true Battlefield experience.

In fact Battlefield 4 has been doing this ever since Battlefield Hardline released.

There hasn't been a single game quite like it since it was fixed a few years ago.

Now we all know Battlefield 4 had a terrible release, leading to one of the most controversial

moments in gaming history.

This game alone made EA the worst company in America, on multiple occasions.

Now that's probably an overstatement, but there's no doubt in my mind that if Battlefield

4 didn't release like it did, we wouldn't have the current experience we have today.

Battlefield 4's bad release was exactly what DICE needed in order to get their act

together.

So what does Battlefield 4 achieve that Battlefield 1 can't?

Well the general replay ability of the game is more rewarding.

Playing Battlefield 1 is a great experience, but once you've unlocked all the weapons,

there's not much reason to come back unless you truly like the gameplay.

Once you've unlocked all the weapons in Battlefield 4, there are more things to go

for than a service star for each weapon because now you can unlock a wide range of attachments,

allowing the gun to feel customized to your play style.

Don't get me wrong, both games make use of a sub par progression system, but games

like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 made that progression just a little easier due

to the added variety to work for.

Obviously this comes down to the setting DICE decided to use for each of those games, unfortunately

Battlefield 1 went too far back that attachments that we see in modern day shooters just weren't

available at that time.

It was ultimately a risk that paid off fairly well.

The only competition Battlefield 1 had was Call of Duty Infinite Warfare.

A lot of those Call of Duty fans were tired of the constant futuristic setting, so they

came over to experience something different.

That's why Battlefield 1 saw such high sales numbers.

It was a great marketing strategy because DICE was actually listening to their customers,

whereas the developers of Call of Duty were far too comfortable in their current situation.

Battlefield players are no longer comparing their game to what sledgehammer or Treyarch

have to offer because they know they are getting the best possible experience they are looking

for.

The big question now comes down to which game within the franchise is going to scratch that

theoretical itch they personally need.

It is such a great time to be a Battlefield fan because we have the option to choose what

we would like to play rather than sticking with the current game.

Battlefield 4 is that game many people would much rather play due to it being set in a

modern day era where players can pilot a little bird, warthogs, etc.

We are living in that day and age that makes Battlefield 4 so relevant, even though its

5 years old.

Anyway, that's my discussion between Battlefield 1 and Battlefield 4.

I personally believe Battlefield 4 is going to outlast Battlefield 1 by a good few years,

just by its current setting.

It's just far more relevant even though Battlefield 1 is trying to teach you about

history, but let me know in the comments below how you feel about this.

Do you believe Battlefield 4 is going to outlast Battlefield 1, and if not, tell me why?

Anyway I hope you enjoyed this video, smash that like button if you did and hopefully

I'll see you in the next one.

Dark Elf Kingdoms of Naggaroth | Warhammer Fantasy - Duration: 9:31.

Across the treacherous waters of the Great Ocean that separates the civilizations of

the Old World from the wild and untamed lands of the New, there lies the bleak and unforgiving

continent of Naggaroth.

Here, barren, windswept plains are broken only by the jagged peaks of shattered mountains

or the black sludge of magic-stained rivers that carve labyrinthine canyons into the frozen

ground.

It is a place known across the world as the "Land of the Chill", where across the

ages untold millions have been taken in chains.

Ripped from their homes in the dark of the night to live out the remainder of their lives

in untold suffering.

Naggaroth is cruel, but those who have built their kingdoms here are crueler still.

In their tongue, they call themselves the Druchii: slavers, despoilers, killers, Dark

Elves.

The Druchii are not the only elven race to walk the world, but of the three great civilizations

that arose from the fractured lands of their home isles of Ulthuan, only the Dark Elves

have embraced the powers of Chaos so openly.

Almost all the races of the world have been marked and changed by Chaos, but perhaps only

to the Dark Elves has it has brought enlightenment, they have embraced the revelation that the

world exists only for the pleasure of the strong.

The Dark Elves care nothing for the sanctity of life and consider the so called "lesser

races" nothing more than insects begging to be ground beneath a boot heel if no productive

or entertaining use can be found for them.

All Elves are said to be cunning, but the Druchii delight in manipulation.

Every word they speak hides a depth of meaning and they are masters of twisting words to

serve their interests.

The unwary might be fooled by the elegance and effortless grace they share with their

distant kin, but theirs is a cold beauty, one that only serves to distract from their

true intentions.

So completely assured of their superiority, the Druchii can be almost careless in their

actions.

They revel in the act of betrayal, knowing that their silver tongues can always be counted

upon to save them from reprisal.

Above all, the society of the Dark Elves is opportunistic and impetuous.

This extends not only in their dealings with other races but defines their own internal

governance as well.

The Kingdoms of the Dark Elves are rigidly hierarchical with a complex structure of titles

and positions that date back to their most ancient history.

Deviations from this system are exceedingly rare, for to even suggest through the creation

of a new appointment or rank that the royal traditions of the past are somehow flawed

is to invite a swift death.

A constant cycle of plotting, disgrace, betrayal, and assassination is behind every position

of authority in Naggaroth.

Powerful nobles are trapped in perpetual competition with their rivals, all vying for power while

simultaneously preventing others from achieving it.

Yet no matter how high a lord or lady might rise, in truth there is but one ruler of the

Dark Elves; Malekith, the Witch King of Naggaroth.

To the Druchii, he is the embodiment of their people, destiny and greatness burned into

his very soul.

As long as he lives, Malekith's authority over the Kingdoms of the Dark Elves is absolute.

His inner circle is known as the Black Council, comprised of exactly one hundred of Naggaroth's

most powerful Dreadlords.

To claim a seat at the Obsidian Table of the Black Council is one of the Kingdom's highest

honors, but perhaps the most dangerous.

The favor of the Witch King is always unpredictable and often fewer Dreadlords leave a council

chamber then enter it.

Across the millennia, a few nobles have been clever enough to avoid falling victim to Malekith's

temper.

First among these and closest of all Malekith's Councillors is his own mother, the tremendously

powerful sorceress Morathi.

This honor is not the result of any familial loyalty, but because her intentions are not

always clear and she can only be trusted when kept in plain sight.

Other powerful council members typically include the highest commanders of the Witch King's

armies and fleets, who earn glory for every victory and blame for every defeat.

In battle, the Dark Elves prize speed and maneuverability above all.

They are relentlessly aggressive in battle but most effective when conducting lightning

raids, seizing slaves and plunder before an organized defense can be mounted.

Sadistic and thrill-seeking elements of the Dark Elf Army will often enter a drug crazed

killing frenzy, contrasted by the cold, ruthless professionalism of Malekith's personal Black

Guard.

Cavalry often plays a key role in these engagements, with the Druchii nobility often riding atop

carnivorous reptiles native to Naggaroth alongside more traditional steeds.

The Dark Elves display a natural talent for the taming and training of beasts and monsters.

Harpies, Manticores, Hydras, and other predators that stalk the Land of the Chill are often

driven to the enemy at the end of lash.

It is through their mastery of the sea however that the Dark Elves wield their greatest strength.

Their forces are organized around enormous floating fortresses known as Black Arks, each

home to a small army of raiders and ships.

These arks roam every ocean, landing forces on an unsuspecting kingdom, before disappearing

with plunder and captives.

This is not merely the basis of their military strategy, but the backbone of the Druchii's

economy.

The Dark Elves count no craftsmen, workers, or farmers among their own, for such tasks

are thought beneath them.

The Kingdoms of the Dark Elves were built on the labor of slaves, and it is through

slaves that they endure.

Untold captives exhaust themselves within the mines of Naggaroth's mountains or rot

away in vast plantations before their bodies are left to nourish the barren soil.

Slave revolts are rare and harshly suppressed, and the only successful revolts have typically

occurred at sea, before the captives have been broken completely.

To be a slave in Naggaroth is a fate worse than death, for in addition to providing a

cheap source of labor, slaves also are a critical component of the Dark Elf religion, sacrifices

to the Cult of Khaine.

Other remnants of the old Elven pantheon remain in Naggaroth, but it is Kaela Mensha Khaine,

the Bloody-Handed God and Thousand Faced Lord of Murder that is by far the most worshipped.

While the High Elves of Ulthuan only invoke this wrathful god in times of war, the Dark

Elves are wholly devoted to him.

Every city in Naggaroth has temples and shrines devoted to Khaine, slick with the blood of

those sacrificed.

The most holy time of the year for the Druchii is the Death Night when Witch Elves rule the

streets of Naggaroth's cities, capturing any they find, killing them on the spot or

dragging them back to the temples as sacrifices for Khaine.

Dark Elf families will barricade their doors and windows on Death Night, for often these

Witches will not limit themselves to the streets alone.

When dawn finally breaks, those who lived through the night will often sacrifice one

of their own as thanks to the Lord of Murder for sparing their family, at least for another

year.

In the ages since Malekith and the remnants of his people first sought refuge in Naggaroth,

the Kingdoms of the Dark Elves have grown in size and might to rival the greatest of

those that still remain in their homeland of Ulthuan.

Malekith has never forgotten the ancient sundering that led to his banishment however, and it

is the dream of every Druchii that they might one day return to their homeland and scour

their hated kin from every corner of the world.

Across their history they have waged countless wars upon Ulthuan and the other races of the

world and even now in Naggarond; The Tower of Cold, oldest and largest city of the Dark

Elves, Malekith calculates the demise of his enemies with chilling ruthlessness.

Yet neither he nor any of his people have ever considered the possibility that when

the last of his foes dies screaming in agony upon the Altar of Khaine, ultimate victory

might cost them their only purpose and leave a void impossible to fill.

Should that day ever come, the Druchii might learn just how much of their souls have been

devoured by their ancient hatred, by Chaos, and they might not find that tally to their

liking.

What If The Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae Didn't Go Extinct? - Duration: 5:00.

What If The Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae Didn't Go Extinct

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae, or just Jaekelopterus for short, was a large arthropod living hundreds

of millions of years ago.

This giant, prehistoric scorpion was a terror in its day, and possibly even an apex predator

in many areas.

But what if this crazy creature did not go extinct, but continued to exist to this day?

Let's explore.

If you want more What If videos, check out our "Biggest What Ifs" playlist on the

channel.

Now get ready, it's time to ask the question: What if The Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae was Real?

First of all, Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae is a hell of a mouthful.

So let's just call it the Jaekelopterus for sake of ease.

Also, pronunciation varies based on region, but I'll be going with "Yeihkel-opterus"

in this video, since it was named after German palaeontologist, Otto Jaekel.

If you forget how to say it, just think of Jaegermeister, and you'll be okay.

Jaekelopterus was a giant, predatory arthropod, believed to have lived in the Silurian, Devonian,

and Permian eras, roughly 500 million to 250 million years ago.

It is believed to be an ancestor of modern scorpions, and many believe it could be related

to several modern arachnids.

Incredibly, Jaekelopterus may well be the largest arthropod to ever appear on Earth.

(ka-liss-ur-a) A chelicera, or claw, was found in the Emsian Klerf Formation in Germany,

which was 36.4 centimetres long.

Based on the fact that it seemed to be missing a quarter of its length, and assuming it had

similar proportions to other giant arthropods, its body is believed to have been roughly

2.5 metres, or 8 feet, in length.

Jaekelopterus is believed to have been a marine creature, found in rivers and swamps, feeding

on pretty much anything it could get its claws on.

They used their powerful claws to hunt fish, other smaller scorpions, and even others of

the same species.

Yep, it looks like they were cannibals.

They had six legs, with the back two shaped like paddles.

Due to their size, thick exoskeleton, and powerful claws, it's believed that Jaekelopterus

may have been an Apex Predator in its time.

It should be noted, however, that they did not have the stinger or venom associated with

modern scorpions.

So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

As fish around them became more dangerous, it's believed that these giant scorpions eventually

evolved to be better suited to hiding, becoming much smaller, eventually becoming the scorpions

we know today.

But what if this never happened?

What if these big bad beasties remained at their large size to this day?

Let's dive in.

First of all, of course, freshwater systems like lakes and rivers would be much more dangerous.

Considering they had evolved to be able to crack through the armour of their prey, armoured

fish, they would be highly dangerous to any human who happened upon one.

This idea would be rather terrifying for most people, especially kids, although it would

likely be used as a form of entertainment for others.

Whether one was daring one's friends to go near the river, or pretending to see a

Jaekelopterus from behind them, it would serve as an effective aquatic boogeyman.

However, considering they likely would not be too numerous near populated areas, their

existence probably wouldn't affect how we act too much, especially since they would

probably be hunted rather heavily for protection and food.

This brings up another point.

Despite the potential danger posed, this creature could be a wonderful solution to current food

problems.

There is a quickly rising movement called the Insect Protein Movement, which, as you

may have guessed, advocates the use of insect protein to replace more conventional meat

sources like cows and pigs.

This largely relies on crickets, but other arthropods like scorpions can be consumed

as well.

One problem with this is that insects are so small that you must eat a huge number of

them to get enough protein and calories for your needs.

But as we've learned, size would definitely not be a problem for Jaekelopterus.

This would be made even easier if we used selective breeding, in order to make them

better suited for farming.

We could breed them to maximize the meat produced, make them more docile, make them less dangerous…

most traits could be manipulated by selective breeding, in much the same way that they evolved

into other creatures in reality.

For more on this idea, check out our video entitled What if the Terror Bird Didn't

Go Extinct?

Considering how useful they would be, it's possible that they would be able to replace

a good deal of meat protein that normally would have been from cows or pigs, which would

be good both morally, and environmentally.

Of course, some would still have moral qualms about it, but given the significantly lower

mental capacity of arthropods, it would be an awful lot better than eating pigs.

Of course, it would be tough to give up bacon, and it's likely that factory farming of

mammals would continue, but hopefully it would not be as common.

And now we return to our question: What If The Jaekelopterus Rhenaniae Didn't Go Extinct?

Well, they would, of course, be highly dangerous.

Larger than a human, with powerful claws, and a strong armoured carapace?

Sounds pretty terrifying.

However, they would also be pretty darn good to eat.

We're already eating more and more insects nowadays, and the size of the Jaekelopterus

would make it an ideal candidate to add to the human diet.

With the use of selective breeding, we could make them more convenient and enjoyable to

eat, to the point where they may lower our consumption of beef and pork.

Which, while not for everyone, would be a welcome change to many people.

Thank you for watching Life's Biggest Questions, I hope this was interesting and informative,

and maybe even inspired you to look into it further on your own.

If you liked this video, please thumbs up and subscribe to the channel down below.

While you're down there, let me know if you would eat Jaekelopterus if you were given

the chance.

And if you'd like a challenge, try coming up with your own ideas of what would happen

if the Jaekelopterus was real.

Try out a thought experiment; it's pretty fun.

Until next time, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey with Life's Biggest Questions, wishing you

the best of luck, on your quest for answers.

Rich vs Poor - How Do They Compare & Who Is Living Longer? - Duration: 8:24.

Today we're taking a look at the differences between rich people and poor people, beyond

just money.

For example, how does money affect a person's prospects, their diet, or even their estimated

life span?

Join us as we take a closer look, in this episode of the infographic show: rich vs poor.

First, just how big is the gap between rich and poor here in America?

The truth might be shocking, as several recent studies have shown that the United States

has the largest wealth inequality gap of any First World nation.

In fact, current levels of wealth inequality are comparable to 1920's pre-Great Depression

America- but how did we get there after the decades of middle class growth following World

War II?

One of the biggest factors in re-creating the great American wealth gap has been globalization.

With major industries destroyed around the world following World War II, the US became

a manufacturing powerhouse, leading to the creation of millions of well-paying, blue

collar jobs.

Yet as access to markets overseas expanded and the cost of transporting goods plummeted,

companies began a mass exodus to cheap labor markets around the world- most notably Mexico,

India, Indonesia and China.

Rather than pay the fair wages that took decades of hard work by labor unions and politicians

to enforce, companies instead relocated their manufacturing base overseas and then lobbied

those governments to prevent the creation of the same wage-protection legislation we

have here in the US.

Even today we are seeing a new shift, with some companies already pulling out of India

and China as their workers too fall victim to Globalization after their governments began

to enforce, or threatened to enforce, minimum wage and worker's compensation laws.

The second major factor in the collapse of the American middle class was automation.

First hitting the automobile industry in the mid 60s, more and more advanced robotics are

starting to edge Americans out of the few manufacturing jobs that still remain in the

US.

That effect is now spreading to jobs once thought safe from replacement by robots, with

companies like McDonalds field testing self-service ordering kiosks with the eventual goal of

replacing all staff, from the cashier to the cook.

This slow takeover should be clearly visible even to you in your own life- next time you

go to the grocery store, notice the self-checkout lane and the self-service movie rental kiosk.

Those two machines alone represent 3 shifts, or 9 total workers replaced for a 24 hour

business.

So just how big is the difference between rich and poor now?

Well for starters, the rich are richer than ever.

In 1982 the lowest ranked member of Forbe's annual list of America's richest 400 had a

net worth of $80 million, while the average member on the list had a net worth of $280

million.

In 2016, the poorest member of Forbe's richest 400 Americans needed a net worth of $1.7 billion

just to enter the list, with the average member holding a net worth of $6 billion; after adjusting

for inflation, that's over 10 times the 1982 average.

But inequality is skyrocketing even between the richest Americans, with the richest American

having a value of $2 billion in 1982 vs $81 billion in 2016, outpacing gains at either

the entry point to Forbe's richest 400 or the average.

For the rest of us, our net worth has actually dropped, with only those making over $200,000

actually holding or increasing their net worth since 2000.

The difference between rich and poor is also from where the rich and poor actually get

their wealth from.

For the top 1%, over 49% of their wealth is derived from highly lucrative sources such

as stocks and mutual funds, making it easier to continue to grow that wealth and reinvest

it.

For America's bottom 90%, only 9.1% of their wealth comes from these sources, instead coming

overwhelmingly from the value of their homes and real estate- sources not nearly as lucrative

and thus harder to reinvest with in order to grow wealth, and also the biggest hit asset

category by the recent great recession.

The amount of debt held by the top 1% vs the bottom 90% is even more skewed, with the top

1% only holding 5.4% of all public debt, and the bottom 90% holding 73.5% of debt- yet

another factor that makes it difficult for the bottom 90% to try to increase their wealth.

The wealth gap is also affecting us at the dinner table, with a marked difference in

the diets between rich and poor.

While overall American health and eating habits has improved in the last 25 years, the majority

of these gains have been in higher income households.

Some of the factors thought to be the source of this disparity include better health education

amongst wealthier Americans and the rising cost of fruits, vegetables and nuts vs the

low cost of pre-packaged meals high in saturated fats, sugar and sodium.

Work and quality of life also affect this trend, with richer Americans working better

jobs that provide greater amounts of personal satisfaction, and poorer Americans having

higher levels of stress and job dissatisfaction, or being forced to work multiple jobs to make

full-time hours leading to a preference for quick, easy to make, pre-packaged meals.

Smaller choices have also driven the disparity, with higher income Americans eating more fruits

and replacing sugary fruit juices with whole fruits.

Wealthier Americans are also dropping processed grains with added sugar and sodium for whole

grains and wheat breads, and ditching sugary snacks for things like natural peanut butter

and nuts.

Not surprisingly though, neither wealthy or poor Americans have increased their intake

of vegetables, because vegetables are terrible.

Things like income disparity, differences in total debt, and even diet may be expected

as differences between rich and poor people.

But what about total life expectancy?

What about a life expectancy difference of 21 years- even here in America?

A University of Washington study looking at the differences in American life expectancies

between 1980 and 2014 discovered a shocking 21 year disparity between the most affluent

counties in the US and the poorest.

Researchers discovered that residents of certain affluent counties in Colorado had the highest

life expectancies at 87 years, while people in several counties of North and South Dakota

had a life expectancy of only 66 years.

If this is shocking to you don't worry, it was for the researchers involved as well,

with one commenting that they expected to see such a drastic difference between the

US and a Third World nation, not between different counties here in America.

Yet the disparity is only expected to grow, with the data showing that mortality trends

for individuals aged 25 – 45 years in poorer US counties experienced an increase of 11.5%

since 1980 and shows no sign of slowing down.

And while overall life expectancy has increased by 5 years here in the US, we are actually

at the bottom of life expectancy of nearly any First World nation despite spending more

on healthcare than the rest of the world, just barely beating Romania, Serbia and Macedonia.

Once the US was a beacon to the world with a robust middle class that provided opportunity

to all- today the reality is far different.

In the last 30 years we have reversed every gain achieved by the great post-WWII Middle

Class boom and reverted back to pre-Great Depression levels of wealth disparity and

income inequality.

Yet the cost of living continues to rise, while access to health care and education

shrinks and automation replaces the American blue collar worker.

Where this future will lead us is uncertain, but what is certain is that without some major

changes the great American Dream will at last truly be dead to the majority

of American citizens.

So, do you think the gap between the rich and the poor needs to be narrowed?

156 Rhodes Ave - How To Mortgage - $929,000 - Leslieville Semi - Duration: 3:55.

Welcome to how to mortgage!

Where we tour active properties on MLS and talk about

what it would take to buy them. I'm Sean Humphries your mortgage broker.

Today, we are at 156 Rhodes Avenue. It's listed by my friend Jimmy Yeung and it is

in the Leslieville neighbourhood. It's three bedrooms

it has income potential in the basement and it's also been renovated.

Let's go take a look at the property and we're going to talk about what it would take

to buy it

So what did you think about the property? Did you like it? Hit the thumbs up if you

liked the property! and as well tell me what your favourite part of the property is.

There's a poll right here up now. Let's talk about the mortgage options.

This property' is listed for $929,000.

The minimum down payment is going to be 7.31% ,which

is $68,000. Since you've got less than 20% down

you need to get the mortgage, as well as mortgage insurance. The mortgage is going to

be $861,000 and mortgage insurance is going to

be $34,000 so your total mortgage that you're going to be

taking on is $895,000 dollars making the

payments $4,100 per month. Now if you add taxes, they are

going be about $400 per month, you're looking at carrying cost

somewhere around $4,500 per month. Minimum family income

of $185,000. Okay did you like the video yet?

Hit the thumbs up if you're liking the video! If you have 20% down on this

property that's going to be $186,000. Making the

mortgage $743,000. The payment on that is

going to be roughly $3,500 per month.

If you include the taxes

which are $400 per month you're looking at carrying cost

somewhere around $3,900 per month.

In order to be able to

afford the property in this scenario you're gonna need to make a minimum

income of about $160,000 and that doesn't

include any other debt commitments that you might have.

What if you have a big

down payment but not a lot of income?

so you've got $620,000

as a down payment. That would make the mortgage only

$309,000 and the mortgage payments $1400 per month

If you had taxes on top of that that's another $400

making the carrying cost $1,800 per month.

The minimum income you would need for that is roughly $75,000.

This property also has basement income potential. You could probably get $1,200 per month on this.

and now you chopped off $1,200 on your mortgage payments. It may not help

you to qualify for the mortgage, but it definitely helps you pay it down a lot faster

Thanks for watching! I hope you enjoyed the tour of the property, as well

as what it would take to mortgage it I'm Sean Humphries, your mortgage broker.

BMW F8X and Heat Soak (Ft: Will Wattanawongkiri, CSF, & VF-Engineering) - Duration: 2:10.

Ron: Hey guys so we're here today we are in the ModAuto service side. And I'm with

Will the fastest person that I know in California Will: little exaggerated but thank you thank

you very much Ron: I'll let you say your last name there's no way im even going to

attempt it. Will: Its a Wattanawongkiri Ron:...there you go

Will: but a thanks for taking me in guys

so honored to be here and thank you for taking your time and effort to

help us out with the install I mean you know we've been tracking for so long

just about 12 years or so a little over 12 years that boy I'll tell you

so many different vehicles have heating issues you know whether it be a GTR even the

older M3... including the current generation M3 you know there's always a little bit loss

or if you don't overheat there will definitely be like power loss and stuff like that so

today we're here... ModBargains hooked us up with some CSF radiators and DCT

coolers and VF-Engineering hooked us up with the intercoolers so... we're getting them

installed today. Ron: What we end up seeing is basically that ton of loss Will give me a call and said "hey I'm

on the track and pushing it and losing power" and I was like hey on the dyno we

see this like 40 to 50 drop just after a few runs so your ... we definitely

see it on here and you've been pushing your car way beyond it Will: You know after your first

lap, you definitely feel the power loss. Like if you were to be at

lets say Buttonwillow if you guys are familiar with it... We lose about at least a

second - second and a half just on a second lap So... its huge you know hopefully with the new

upgrades with the more reliability upgrades we can retain you know hopefully

no loss but you know maybe half a second at most or something which is good

Ron: So you're doing it on the on the track even you know the guys on the street it's I

think the number one must-do Mod on the vehicle so let's get this installed on it!

Will: Absolutely agree with it
