Hello everyone and thank you for tuning into Tradechat.
My name is Panser
And today we are going to be going over all of
this weeks hottest stories in tech and gaming.
Everything from really good deals in World of
Warcraft to not so great deals to game on a macbook.
Lets Ketchup!
The Battle for Azeroth pre-patch dropped last week, and I did
cover all those changes in last week's Ketchup, if you need a
refresher. But this week Blizzard made a more subtle change to World
of Warcraft, one that has nothing to do with Battle for Azeroth.
As of last week, World of Warcraft is available to play for just
the $15-per-month subscription fee. There is no longer a Battle
Chest, that's not a thing, all of the expansions up through Legion
come bundled together for just the $15 a month subscription.
The subscription however does not cover the upcoming Battle
for Azeroth expansion, which releases on August 14th. The
expansion will start at $50 for the standard edition, $70 for
the digital deluxe edition, and $100 for collectors edition.

Last week was San Diego Comic Con and amidst the panels, screenings, cosplay contests,
and other activities, some attendees picked up a hidden quest: find Mark Hamill.
Which is basically just the plot to Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
In Real Life.
So this rumor started that Mark Hamill would be attending
Comic Con incognito and since that sounded like something Mark
Hamill would actually do, it spread like wildfire. And then
because Mark Hamill is Mark Hamill, he just rolled with it.
On Thursday, Hamill hinted that he would be at San
Diego Comic Con in disguise throughout the entire
event, and that at least two of those days he would
be disguised as none other than Luke Skywalker.
So if you attended San Diego Comic Con and you ran into someone
wearing a Luke Skywalker mask, that could have been Mark Hamill.
Or maybe Mark Hamill learned how to force project, and he was only there in spirit?
Or, more likely Mark Hamill was probably trolling and
he wasn't there at all. But, I'm not mad about it.
In more Comic Con news, virtual reality just got
kicked up a notch… or like several notches.
This year's Comic Con featured a virtual reality park based on the upcoming
Amazon Prime series Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan starring John Krasinski. For
those who don't know, VR parks are a fairly new concept that combines virtual
reality with physical elements to achieve a whole new level of immersion.
In this installation, the user is thrust into the role of Jack Ryan, the series' title
character, while an in-character operative
guides them through the 60,000 sq. Foot park.
The user basically gets gets the full action-movie treatment: zip lining, maneuvering
obstacles, VR combat, and somehow always getting out of impossible scenarios. Of course.
Listen up, marketing teams. You want to promote your show? This is how you promote
your show. I'mma watch that, I wasn't even at Comic Con and I'mma watch that.
Mmhmm
On another VR note, Rick and Morty's virtual reality adventure game, Rick
and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, has been nominated for a Prime time Emmy.
So apparently the Emmys have been giving out awards for interactive media
since 2002, but as of 2017, the interactive categories were totally revamped.
One of the newer categories is the very
specifically-named "Outstanding Creative Achievement in
Interactive Media Within a Scripted Program" which
is what Virtual Rickality is nominated for.
But it gets even better. Because the show itself was nominated
for an Emmy in Outstanding Animated Program for the
episode Pickle Rick, meaning Rick and Morty have two prime time
Emmy nominations right now. Which is kinda awesome!
And given that we have been guaranteed seven more seasons of the show, I
wouldn't be surprised if there weren't many more Emmys to come in the future.
And still on the topic of VR…Yes there's a theme here, if you haven't noticed.
This week Marvel is releasing its first ever
VR title, Marvel Powers United. In the game,
you can play as 18 different heroes, including
Wolverine, Captain America, and Deadpool.
And let's be honest, there's an entire demographic of
people who are gonna buy it just so they can be Deadpool.
You play in a team of four heroes against some of
the most notorious villains in the Marvel Universe,
and the game includes ten different locations
from Downtown New York all the way to Wakanda.
Oculus is also releasing a special Marvel Powers United bundle
including an Oculus Rift headset, touch controllers, and
a digital copy of the game for just 400 bucks, so if you're
interested in that I have a link in the info below for you.
And finally, the Macbook Pro is one of the hottest laptops on
the market right now, but it is not exactly known for being
"gamer-friendly". Well all of that may change because Apple
is making a serious attempt to tap into the gaming market.
In a recent collaboration with Blackmagic Design, the two companies have
created an external graphics processor that is compatible with Macbook Pro.
The Blackmagic eGPU is designed for VR, 3D games, and creative software,
and promises users the high-speed processing power of a desktop computer.
And now the Blackmagic external GPU can be yours for the low low price of $699…
What a steal.
I understand that it's Apple, so steep price's are to be
expected. But for the price of a MacBook Pro and the external
Graphics Processing Unit, you could have just bought a laptop
for less money that was already a reputable gaming system.
Just Sayin'...
I guess we'll just have to wait and see if the Blackmagic's external
GPU lives up to the hype Apple has created for it. But either
way I think it's at least a great sign that Apple is trying to get
into the gaming sphere which, is always growing in popularity.
And that is it for this weeks Ketchup. I hope that
