Let's talk about the result first, I finished at 9th place this time at VSF2018
This is my first time drop out of Top 8 at a Premiere CPT event
I mean I was kinda lucky
As the time goes on, the competition will get fiercer and fiercer
I thought I might not be able to keep up with everybody's pace
Furthermore, I was trying out Menat's V-trigger 2 before EVO
and I think it is one of the reason for my performance at VSF2018
I was wandering between VT1 and VT2
and I decided to go VT2 all the way
That's why there's a big difference in the damage output
However, I was able to do what I want which is focus more on spacing the footsies throught the tournament
So to sum up, I thought it was a tourment with both satisfaction and disappointments
So, to tell you how I feel about England as a country
One is Kingsman
and another is a nation that doesn't have good food
To make it clearer
It's a gentlemen's nation with no good food to eat
therefore, if I want to eat something
Oh, I'm sorry my dear friends in England. But you know it's true
I mean sure you guys can like your national food, but not for me
I'm sorry
When I go there the players were waiting in line for getting their badges
The venue looks like this
The DBFZ Tourney was ongoing on the second floor
Of course I got mine too
and here's the picture of me and VSF Badge
Man, my skin looks great on the picture!
I mean my skin is good even now
But the camera's filter looks too good
This is the main stage at the third floor of the venue
It's on the third floor, and if you go there
the entrance is on the streaming setup sides and the whole floor looked like a theatre
That's why, if you guys go to cinema like CGV or MEGABOX in Korea
You know that if you are on the first raw, it is hard for you to see the screen right? Same problem here
If you are sitting on the front floor you need to see the player's monitor to see what is happening
It's hard for you to see the match on the big screen since it stress out your neck pretty hard
The venue was quite cool, but on Day 1 the place was kinda cold
and on Sunday, it was kinda hot
The main venue was quite vacant because the venue utilizes the whole building with 3 floors for the tournament
and there were quite amount of free gaming area so it was good for the warm-ups
So after a match, if I want to practice I can just go to the different free gaming area to do that
One thing that I'm very grateful about this event...
is that all the staffs were trying their best on doing their works as a staff member
They were responsive to players problems
They made sure that every players know where to go and what to do, and gives what they need
Specially on Day 3, NL had a hard time with the temperature of the venue and needed water
and when he ask the staffs if he can get some water
and they gave the real cold water right away, that was really thankful
I was also able to meet different European players
Specifically, I am happy that I was able to meet Ryan Hart again
He's still very good at the game, very stylish, and he's living pretty well. and these are the points I liked about this event
During VSF2018, I was in the Pool 2 (or B Pool)
No matter what tournament you go
TO usually makes some marks (ex. Pool A,B,C; Group Stage 1,2,3; etc.) for players to know which place they should go
But in VSF2018, there were no such indication marks in the venue
It was kind iffy
I know I was in Pool B back then
but the way I found my place was thru finding the players that I know is in the same pool
not with the help of the staffs
and again, there were no any indications of which pool is which
There are so many cases that was unsure, like is the pool over? Is this place changed to another pool?
there were no clear ways to identify those things
So, I think if they are going to do it again next year, they need to make these clear area indications
for things like pools, free gaming area and etc.
As a viewer, you guys might have noticed
But there were many delays in the Capcom Fighters' stream
There were some cases like me who is supposed to have some match on stage but the game just does not get started
I had my pool matches at 11 AM on Saturday
I started my tourney at 11 AM, Saturday
After first two games, I was about to have a winners final so I went to the stage
and I got the news that my opponent was Moke's Cammy
I thought since it's winne's final with Moke it's probably going to be streamed
after that, I was not able to play the game for LITERALLY 3 hours
until 2:40, there's no staff telling me that there's any match
I asked a staff on when I'm going to have a match since I've waited so long, am tired and kinda need to eat
Then their answer was "Really? You can play the winners' final at the off stream setup"
funny right?
I heard it was a streamed match so I waited
only to be told I can play it off-stream
and even if I want to just finish my pool in the off stream setups
I was told to have a on stream match against Justin Wong
There were just too many back and forth
Also I really need to criticize this
I HAVE to criticize on the Timetable issue
this issue is quite serious
I'm kind of mad, to be completely frank
As you guys can see here in the timetable on Sunday's streaming schedule
This is their official schedule for the tourney
When's the Top 8 for Street Fighter V?
You guys tell me
It's 2PM right?
As you guys can see, the official schedule told us that it's 2pm for Street Fighter V and Tekken as the last game.
This is suppose to be the official schedule
So I thought I can just sleep till 1PM and go to watch the TOP 8
NL, Justin Wong and many players thought it was the right time too
But, Oil King found out that the TOP 8 for SFV was actually at 5PM while he was having a little chat with European players
he told us that the TOP 8 starts at 5PM
NL only knew about this schedule until Oil King told him so
There were no updates for either Twitter, official page, staffs or what so ever
they just went for it without noticing all the players
They didn't notify the change
This is really something we need to criticize here
How can they?
You know what's more? SFV was lucky if you think about it, since our schedule was delayed
So even if the schedule is changed, there will be at least no DQ for not getting on the stage
I felt really weird, so I asked JDCR about if he knew about the change in schedule when I was in the plane
and his answer was "no"
Those Tekken's players got their Finals schedule changed from 5PM to 2PM
and since the Finals starts earlier, players who doesn't know the right time they will get DQ for not showing up
and JDCR's answer was "No, they didn't know"
This is undoubtedly the staffs fault for not notifying
It's just... No
They need to get criticized and they need to take this feedback hard
VSFighting must solves these problems
In my opinion
I've been to two premiere events until this point, one of which is Stunfest
Even Stunfest has the same schedule problem where I thought the Top 8 gonna start at 7PM but it actually starts at 7:30PM
It's the same for VSF
Coincidentally, both European events didn't give me good impressions in terms of their event management
There were some good moments with the players there, but as an event they were not able to satisfy me
Since it's my first time to go to England
I thought to myself to have a great time with the country and the players
and these few issues kinda make me raise my eyebrows
and that's why I'm mentioning these issues, specially that Schedule fiasco is their huge mistep
