G'day and welcome back to Buildsum and in this video
I'm gonna have a quick look at a thing called Effective Cover and then i'm going to talk more about how we
Convert or how we work out how many lineal metres of a product we would actually need to cover a square metre
Now quite often when we work out
Estimating or working out estimates on materials it work things like walls and falls out in square metres
But some of the products are actually going to use like floorboards, which you can see here
a couple types of weather boards and
Even decking they come or you buy them from the hardware store in lineal meters. So we need to know how to work out
How many lineal metres of product would cover a square metre of
wall
Ok. So the first thing that we need to understand is effective cover, so we'll go back to our floor board
And say you brought a 70mm by 19 or 20mm floor board
Okay, so you can see it's 70mm from the outside of the tongue to the outside of the groove here
However, that would only when we put our next board in
That board this one here is only actually covering 65mm
So it has what we call an Effective Cover of
65mm and obviously different width boards are going to have different effective covers and
similar with our different types of weatherboard
So here's a weatherboard, which is 200mm over all but in this case, it only has an effective cover of 190mm
because when we but this board in
it's going to overlap that much and
There are other types. So that's a you know, a milled type with a board if you go to the flat boards
so this one's
230mm long
When we do our lap and in other videos, I've shown you how to work out the lap
but in this case when we do the lap we have
200mm left which is our effective cover
and
So they are all good because those ones were actually deducting or taking a bit off the actual length of the board
But also think about decking so this board our decking board is 70 mm
But when we put it in, we normally leave a gap, you know on average around 10mm
so this 70mm board actually has an Effective Cover of
80mm when we got to work it out so that lets us work out the gap as well
So that's effective cover its the actual
width or the actual distance that the board is covering on the wall, not necessarily the actual width of the board
So we need to know that so we can work out how many boards
there are in a square metre so
Let's have a look at a square metre. So this has metre long metre wide and
we had so
To work out our metres per square metre
We basically take one, which is the metre and we divide it by the effective cover
So for our first scenario our flooring boards
one metre
divided by 65mm or
0.065
metres sorry gives us
15.380, so that's 15 boards
going up that wall and
Each one of those boards if we made each one of those boards and meter long
That would give us 15 .380m
of
floor board to cover that square metre of
floor
So similarly with their our weatherboards
our first weatherboard was a hundred and
190mm wide effective cover
so one metre divided by 190mm is just 5.263 and
You can see there. I've got one, two, three, four five and there's our .263
so that's 5.263m of
weatherboard
per square metre of wall
our other weatherboard
Clapboard so that was 200 had an effective cover of 200mm
So one metre divided by 200 gave us five and then he can see one two, three, four, five and our decking
Was 80mm effective cover 80mm because of the gap between our 70mm board
So one metre divided by 80 gave us 12 and a half
boards
All of meter long, so it gives us 12.5m of decking board
square metre of wall
So, there you go, I hope that gives you a little bit of an understanding of effective cover and how to work out
How many metres of
Board we would need to cover a square metre of wall
which will then help you to work out the total amount of our
Material that you would need for your for your job your floor or your wall

at a later time on YouTube or anywhere else,
I appreciate you tuning in.
Today I'm gonna be talking about really,
kind of something that I see a lot of people having
and that's heartburn and indigestion.
And how does that relate to better digestive health?
Very important and again, I'm sure that many
of you guys have had heartburn before.
There's probably, I think I read somewhere,
about 60 million or so people have heartburn
at least once a month.
About 25 million or so have it daily,
and that's a pretty big deal.
And again, if you've ever had heartburn,
it's horrible because what happens is
you feel that constant burning sensation in your
digestive system, your tract, your stomach, et cetera,
but what most people think is that having heartburn
is the result of having too much stomach acid.
And I'm here to tell you actually that
it's the completely the opposite.
In most instances, 95% of the instances,
it's actually because people don't produce
enough stomach acid, that's why you have heartburn.
And so what happens is that most of the people
that take heartburn medication, which actually,
it's about tens of billions of dollars every single year
that the pharmaceutical companies, you know,
pitch out to you and there's actually even more
because over-the-counter medications that you
can find, you know, the antacid medicines,
you can buy those anywhere, but having constantly
that state of heartburn and indigestion
actually, if you think about it, just constant
irritation on your digestive tract
and your esophagus and if you think about it,
just constantly burning, I mean, people don't realize
the amount of stomach acid, or actually how toxic
stomach acid can be and if you have that constantly
irritated on your esophagus or you know,
places where it's not supposed to be,
it can cause a significant amount of irritation
and digestive issues and its really just
this perpetual notion of having heartburn medications,
or you take an over-the-counter medications,
actually cause more problems than solving the problems
because taking antacids actually are
curing the symptoms not the problem.
Now, let me explain.
So, if you have heartburn, generally what happens
is that people take the heartburn, you know,
the antacids and you feel that relief.
If you look at it, it's basically just calcium
and what it's doing is absorbing that acid.
You're gonna get some sort of relief,
but what you're actually doing is
that you're telling your body to do something
that it's not meant, excuse me, that it's not
naturally meant to do, which is stop production of acids.
You produce stomach acid because you have to
digest foods and get nutrients from those foods,
so by taking antacids, basically, you're,
what I like to call, is turning down the valve
on a faucet, basically just tightening it,
tightening it, tightening it and if you constantly
do that, over the course of time basically,
it's just gonna not be able to be produced at all.
Just like if you tighten up the cold
or the hot water faucet.
If you keep on doing that, eventually it's not
going to tighten any more and you back,
actually can't even get it off,
so when you take antacid medications,
or over-the-counter medications,
you actually are telling your body not
to do something that it's naturally meant to do.
Now people say, "well Jared, again, it still
"doesn't make any sense, you know,
"how come I get a little bit of relief?"
Again, you're solving the symptoms,
not the problem and you know, what happens is that
heartburn and indigestion and stomach acid production
actually decreases as we age, I mean if it was,
if heartburn and acid reflux were caused by
too much stomach acid, you'd see a bunch of
teenagers popping antacid pills,
but what happens, who do you see actually taking that
are the older people, people as you age,
you take more and more and then what happens is
you take one antacid, then you take two,
then you take three and eventually, as I said,
you're tightening that up til you can't
produce any more stomach acid
and then you're gonna have a significant amount
of problems associated with that.
Now, how can you solve the problems?
First of all, it's, you know, to eliminate those
foods that you are eating that cause the indigestion.
Most people don't even know that,
but generally in most instances you have a bad
bacterial overgrowth in your stomach
or in your intestine and that causes
a significant amount of, you know, irritation.
So the way that you can do that, of course,
is by taking probiotics to off-set that balance
of bacterial overgrowth.
That's the first thing that you can do.
The second thing, as I said, is that try to find out
the foods associated with a poor digestion.
Eliminate those from your diet, but again,
most of the acid refluxes are caused by
a bacterial growth of processed sugars
and carbs that you have in your stomach.
So hopefully this was beneficial.
If you have any questions about this,
you know, comment below or send me a message,
but again, this is something that probably
you aren't gonna hear anywhere else, or maybe at
a few other places, but how heartburn
and indigestion are caused by low stomach acid,
not too much stomach acid.
If you liked it, click like below.
Go to Jared's ProPops over on Facebook,
but I appreciate you guys tuning in.
Hopefully this was beneficial
as you're eating your lunch,
don't get indigestion.
Have a great day, peace.

NAD Demand Letter to RID - Duration: 5:48.
The National Association of the Deaf (NAD), as the nation's premier civil rights
organization of, by and for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals issues this letter to the
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) to demand that the RID act in furtherance of the right
of people who are deaf and hard-of-hearing to equally effective communication.
Specifically, the NAD requests that RID immediately issue a public apology and statement with respect
to positions taken by its previous executive director, Anna Witter-Merithew, during her tenure with RID.
We understand that Ms. Witter-Merithew provided expert witness testimony in opposition to deaf people
asserting civil rights in at least three cases known to us while she served as the Executive Director of RID:
as the rebuttal expert for the hospital in the case of Priscilla Saunders v. Mayo Clinic, No. 13-cv-1972 (U.S. District Court of Minnesota, 2013);
as the rebuttal expert for the hospital in the case of Durand et al. v. Fairview Health Services, No. 2015-cv-2012 (U.S. District Court of Minnesota, 2015);
and as an expert witness for the prosecution in the criminal case of State of Tennessee v. Andrew Clayton Parker, No. CR6081 (White County Criminal Court, 2014).
While her report in the criminal case of Parker is not available to us at the moment, we have
her reports and testimony in the Saunders and Durand cases.
A reading of these reports and testimony makes it clear that Ms. Witter-Merithew served as an expert
on behalf of defendants alleged to have violated the civil rights of deaf people who require
communication access through qualified sign language interpreters.
Priscilla Saunders is a deaf woman who was pregnant and sought qualified interpreters for
when she would deliver the baby at the Mayo Clinic.
She asserted in her complaint that she could not effectively communicate with the hospital's staff interpreter and asked for other interpreters.
The hospital allegedly kept using the staff interpreter anyway to communicate with her.
Ms. Witter-Merithew provided an expert report on October 22, 2014 saying,
"It would not be possible for the Mayo Clinic to satisfy the specific expectations and preferences of the
plaintiffs in this matter for consistent provision of services by highly qualified interpreters with native ASL competence."
Roger and Linda Durand are deaf parents who sued a hospital that was treating their adult hearing son
and allegedly did not provide them with qualified interpreters except two times, both brief.
The Durands asserted that, as a result of the lack of qualified interpreters, they did not understand that their son was dying.
Ms. Witter-Merithew provided a June 29, 2016 expert report in which she opined,
"It would likely not be possible to satisfy the specific expectations and preferences of the plaintiffs in this matter for consistent
provision of services by highly qualified interpreters throughout the days leading up to Shaun Durand's death."
Even more upsetting to the NAD is her statement in the report that
"There is no evidence supporting the notion…that the inclusion of interpreters would have in
anyway [sic] improved the level of understanding that apparently continues to elude Linda and Roger Durand."
She further stated that the deaf parents were at fault for not properly requesting interpreters:
"They [sic] family is emphatic that requests were made, but often vague as to with who, when, how"
and "The hands off approach of Linda and Roger Durand, which included a failure to self-advocate and ask for
clarification when needed and when the opportunity existed contradicts the impact they now claim the lack of interpreters created."
Anna Witter-Merithew was employed by the RID as its Executive Director from March 2015 to July 2017.
Moreover, what the NAD considers most disturbing is the timing of her reports and testimony.
Her Saunders expert report is dated October 22, 2014, but she was prepared to testify until the case was settled in March 2015.
Her Durand expert report is dated June 29, 2016, and her deposition was given on August 16, 2016.
According to her Durand report, she was scheduled to provide expert testimony against the interests of a deaf person accused of a crime on July 8, 2016.
The NAD believes these comments to be harmful to the civil and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing people.
The Saunders case immediately preceded her hire, and her report should have disqualified her from the executive director position.
She continued to provide testimony and reports throughout her term on behalf of defendants sued for allegedly violating the civil rights of deaf people.
NAD believes that Ms. Witter-Merithew's statements on behalf of defendants against deaf people
seeking access to equally effective communication is completely inconsistent with advocacy
for the civil rights of deaf people and undermines interpreters as a profession.
And, in the Durand case, she has done this while stating that she is the Executive Director of the RID.
The NAD considers unacceptable any statement by an interpreter acting as an expert witness in opposition
to the assertion of critical civil rights of deaf people.
Also unacceptable are any such statements made by the executive director of RID or any staff of the RID.
To rectify Ms. Witter-Merithew's actions, the NAD demands that the RID make a public apology and three public statements as follows:
The RID will declare that it agrees with the NAD that the Code of Professional Conduct (CPC) needs
to be updated to prohibit any interpreter from providing expert witness testimony or reports opposing
the civil or linguistic rights of any deaf or hard of hearing person, and will expedite its
committee work with the NAD to revamp the CPC;
The RID will declare that it prohibits all of its staff and board members from making any statements
or engaging in any conduct that is adverse to the civil or linguistic rights of any deaf or hard of hearing person; and
The RID will disavow expert witness reports and testimony by RID staff and board members that are
adverse to the civil and linguistic rights of deaf and hard of hearing persons, and declare that the
RID renounces the reports and testimony given in the Saunders and Durand cases as well as any other similar cases.
The RID has an obligation to take these corrective steps with respect to the actions taken by
its previous executive director, and these statements that NAD requests above are the minimum
that the RID owes to both the deaf community and the interpreting community.
While the NAD and RID no longer have a partnership on certification, we have been engaged in a
dialogue about the CPC and other areas of mutual interest.
Given this situation, however, the NAD cannot engage in any further collaboration with the RID until such corrective actions are taken.
