Touring The Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 In The Historic Garden District Of New Orleans A NOLA Must-See - Duration: 7:12.We're at the Lafayette Cemetery off of
Washington Avenue. And we just parked
along the street. We read that there's
lots of street parking around, and just
don't park where there's the signs that
say you can't during certain hours. This is a
very famous cemetery here in New Orleans.
Died 1866. Some of them are kind of new.
There's one where someone died in 2010. This one
died in 1872. I guess it's like a family
vault. So when someone else in the
family dies, they reopen it and seal it
back. There's one with some broken up
tablets that fell off of the front.
There's one that's been fairly newly
decorated, looks like, with beads and a hat.
Somebody's been attending a little bit
to this one. There's several people in
this one. Different drawers.
Different last names. So that this must
be a shared vault, mausoleum there.
This contains almost 1,100 tombs and
almost 10,000 people. It's huge.
We're gonna take a quick walk
around. We can't really walk really quick
because we're dressed for a brunch that
we're doing on the Natchez this morning.
Wonder what the oldest one is?
The first available burial records are
dated August 3rd, 1843. Although people were using it before that.
That one says, "Papa".
Oh, look at this one. They probably had a lot
of money. That's a huge stone and like
there's a huge gated fence around it.
Like they didn't want anybody to get in.
But they didn't want anybody in.
Except the gate is missing.
Maybe it was just an entrance.
O'Brien.
In 1841, there were 241 burials in the cemetery
because of yellow fever victims. Wow.
1995 is this one. So it hasn't had
time to weather.
Whoa! Look at this one.
Like it's like the whole family goes down the
row, like as to when they died. Like the
newest one died in 1986. Like this is the
whole entire Coffey family. C-O-F-F-E-Y.
Then up here it says Gassenberger-Hogan-Gerstner.
It says that in 1847, 613 more people were buried here
that died of the Yellow Fever.
And in 1853, over 8,000 people died because of the Yellow Fever
and often left bodies at the cemetery gates.
Oh! They just left them at the gate?
They didn't even bury them?
They were hoping to get them buried here, I guess.
Here's a really new one.
Some of the tombs say how
they died. Like Yellow Fever, lightning strike, or whatever.
They get kind of detailed.
There's some beads left at this one.
Oh, the Poydras Orphans.
"All Souls Sheltered At Poydras Home".
Ahhhh. It's an orphans grave.
And I just thought this one was cool.
Husband of Carey.
Look at all the stones around that one. I wonder why?
Maybe they pray for them with the stones,
or something.
Prayed for them, and leave a stone or something.
Sumpter Turner.
Died of cholera. October 27th of 1867.
Wow, that's a rough way to go then.
Oh, look they fought in World War two.
World War one and World War two.
A lot of the tombs are decorated with statues.
There's a Captain N. Taylor Squires, C.S.A.
Confederate States of America.
Killed near Franklin, LA., on Oct. 2nd, 1863.
Aged 25 years and seven months.
It looks like he was a casualty in the Civil War.
Some of them are in pretty bad shape and disrepair.
I know that they've tried to repair the
cemetery quite a bit and keep it up.
Its had some really bad days and they've
done a lot to fix it up, and
repair what they could and restore it.
It says, "Family Tomb".
There's several people that it shows
are entombed here.
Edward W. Sewell.
A native of Cork. (Ireland)
Was killed at the Battle of New Hope Church.
Says this person was a native of
Germany.
Banschbach.
This is a different style of grave. They're kind of an
open-top with ground in it. With earth in it.
Someone in this block was with the
Lafayette Hook-And-Ladder Fire Company.
This person was drowned in the
Mississippi River and body not recovered.
This is a big tomb here, and it says,
"The Jefferson Fire Company, Number 22 1852".
And it has an old pump fire engine on the front of it.
There's someone that it says died of
yellow fever. Mary Love and Edwin Given.
This one looks like it's all in German.
Well that was interesting. There's a lot
of history there. And you're not gonna see
another cemetery like that anywhere,
except for New Orleans.
And it's just kind of sad to see all the
people that died of cholera and yellow
fever back then, too.

Forbes Asia Investment Briefing With Gavin Parry - Duration: 1:43.My name's Gavin Parry, I'm the managing director of Parry Global Group.
We're a brokerage and asset management company in Hong Kong.
From this week our key takeaway is the lack of impact from the trade wars that are going
on within the region and globally.
Next week we'll be really looking for what the economic data will be showing in relation
to what monetary policy may come out of central banks globally.
But we'll also be interested to see if the empirical data from statistics holds true,
that historically when there's an election in the U.S. during the October period
markets tend to do quite well.
And following on to that, particularly given the situation of the trade tensions going
on, how the People's Bank of China could actually use their monetary policy to help
defend the economy and also to continue the expansion for economic growth.
Looking further ahead, it'll be interesting to see how the markets digest and bed down
the North American trade negotiations between Mexico and Canada, and to see how the global
markets will use that as maybe a template for how the U.S. will actually resolve some
of the trade disputes that they're also looking at with the EU and China, and other
countries like Japan, major trading partners, in the global scheme of things in relation
to markets.
What we'll also need to keep an eye on in the longer term is the central bank in China.
We don't believe that they're actually going to do any major expansion in monetary
supply in the mainland.
We don't think that the trade situation or trade wars or tariffs will actually become
such an impediment that the People's Bank of China needs to actually put its foot on
the acceleration and expand monetary policy on the supply side of things to actually stoke
the economy and keep it afloat.
We think that the long-term trade and economic growth prospects in China are very solid for
a longer-term upward trend.

Illustrate a story! - Duration: 8:46.hey guys for this painting
I did do a little bit of under painting
to this without recording it. I think I
was just really distracted by something
I was watching and got a little carried
away I guess. I wanted to make sure that
the overall colour was warm so I started
with some yellows and added some violet
shadows because that's a complementary
color so that would work. and this
painting is another of the wild satellite
series in which I have this really
silly character that just happens to
be a cat that has built a little cube
satellite out of some junk that
reasonably wouldn't really travel
anywhere but it's just a little funny
story I like to play with. and this one
came about because my husband was
watching some miyazaki films and I was
really taken by Howl's Moving Castle. I
thought was super interesting and I just
loved the scenery and the rooms in that
animated movie. it's so intricate and
magical and I just I really wanted to
paint a cluttered room I guess. this
room isn't actually that cluttered. it's
actually pretty orderly but it has just
enough stuff to scratch that itch. I
really like how it turned out. I
procrastinated so bad with this painting.
even though at first my reasoning was
sound... it was like I didn't think I had
enough time to meet this YouTube
deadline last week so I decided put it off
and did a more complicated video. and
then I just kept wanting to get ahead of
my personal deadlines before starting
this painting
and just kept being pushed back and push
back. I know that I said on Friday
that I was going to start working on it
because I could have the whole weekend
to work on it. then it turned out
that I wasn't even going to start it
until Sunday and I felt so bad about it
but I've been like just stuck in this
procrastination thing this last few
weeks and it is hard. it's hard to work
with your own deadlines because it's
really easy to just be like 'I don't
really want to do this, I just don't feel
like doing any work right now, and I'm
not really that accountable to anybody. no
one's gonna care if I do something or
not.' so it's really easy to talk myself
out of sitting down to do the work. it's
really easy. I definitely have lots of
nights where I procrastinate
just a little bit at a time and
then it gets to eight o'clock at night and
I'm just like well it's 8 o'clock I
should probably go to bed in an hour or
so and I'm gonna have to wind down. huh
it's bad. whatever I finished it. I
procrastinated a little bit on editing
this video but I finished it. you're
watching it. it's done. anyway so what's
happening in this painting? this scene could
technically be two possible things. when
I started painting it I decided that
this is the cat settling down for a
moment to do some repairs on the
satellite. I imagine that space and
different planets would do a lot of wear
and tear on
you know junky items. even for a cube
satellite that defies physics.
something's gonna break on it. so this
painting is him inside of this little
cob house replacing some of the little
tiny solar panels that he's ripping out
of these calculators. and I have it
situated in the cob house because one: I
want one so bad. I want to live in a cob house
it's like a little house
that is built by hand out of you know
things like clay and mud and stuff. I
just love the idea of them. I love the
unique designs and decorative qualities.
everything can be built in because
you're literally just molding it like
with clay. so yeah I also borrowed pretty
heavily from pictures of existing houses
online for which I do kind of regret a
little bit. I got way too far into
the fantasy of drawing this. yeah
I could have probably made it a lot more
cluttered than this but it's hard? I'm
not really that cluttery of a person. I'm
the kind of person that likes to have
some kind of control and peace in my
living spaces so .yeah and you can also
say that this piece is sort of like a
prequel to the wild satellite. this could
have been the first initial build of the
satellite for all I know. that would make
sense too. I don't know where you would
find tools and raw materials out
the galaxies that don't really exist but
that's the fun of fictional stories, that
anything can happen. anything can happen.
and that is the joy of creating a story
to illustrate. they used to be my
favorite thing to do in elementary
school. back then, making stories was a
lot easier I think. maybe my standards
are just lower? but I don't really feel
like I could write a story now. so if you
do - if you like writing stories or you
are really close to somebody who likes
writing stories, I highly recommend
illustrating them because it's a great
source of inspiration when you wanna
paint something but you can't think of
something to paint or draw. go back to
previous big ideas and illustrate a new
part of it

you can don't pay the fines
If you rental the car driving in Australia
and get the fines ticket
but don't pay the fines. What happen will follow
1. you car rental
car rental company have your credit card information
they'll pay that or don't pay
if they don't pay at first time fines
they'll wait the first time expand
and the car rental company will get the expand letter
they maybe pay on the first time expand fines
because this is expand fines
they help you to pay the expand fines
they will add some fee in your case
so everything will be late
If your original fines ticket is 242AUD
maybe you get your credit card payment is over 500AUD
