A new study suggests that many Koreans feel living longer would only be worth it if they
were healthy.
A team of medical researchers at Konyang University conducted a survey of nearly 350 people aged
20 and older... and found that only around 20-percent would want treatments to extend
their life in case of a terminal condition.
The most unwanted treatment was dialysis, with 82-and-a-half saying they wouldn't want
it,... followed by artificial ventilation, chemotherapy and then cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
The researchers also found that people who did not want such treatments were more likely
to profess a religious faith.
The researchers interpret that as the belief in life after death negating the urge to receive
life-prolonging treatments.
