**Award Winning** Sci-Fi Short Film: "BEAUTIFUL DREAMER" - Directed by David Gaddie - Duration: 26:12.

(birds chirping)

(somber electronic music)

- [Dad] I know.

- You okay? - I know.

- I know.

- [Amy] I remember when my dad told me

that you were very sick

and that you had to go away.

It's my earliest memory.

He said you were gonna stretch out the last two years

and cheat time,

so you could watch me grow up.

(alarm blaring)

(birds chirping)

(ominous music)

(doorbell ringing)

- Amy, look who's here.

- You're so big.

(somber music)

(monitor beeping)

- Are you feeling sick?

- No, I feel fine.

Cheer up, sweetheart.

I'm just getting used to being on the ground.

Come on.

- [Announcer] 200 civilians and gang members

have been killed in fresh conflicts

over potable water stocks.

- It's so exciting seeing how much you've changed.

- [Announcer] According to reports coming out of

the California-Mexico alliance.

- [Announcer] There are strong allegations this morning

that several sovereign entities are funding the conflict.

- Replay.

- [Computer] Replaying.

- [Mom] Can you hand me my clothes, please.

Thank you.

- When I got this for you, I thought it would fit.

I didn't know how long I'd be gone.

- [Amy] Is this your ship?

- No, but it's a bit like it.

- While you were in space, did you feel like everything

was moving very fast or in slow motion?

- Neither.

The ship just got faster and faster.

It was strange being away from here for so long.

- How long will you stay with us?

- Let's stay up all night and do all the things

that Dad doesn't let you do, okay?

- Yeah.

- [Mom] Okay.

(both giggling)

- Welcome to Amy's family catch up private museum.

Here's your ticket.

Please enjoy the wonders.

- How long did it take you to make this?

- Seven years.

- It's beautiful.

- Look, there's more over here.

Plus we were gonna make you even more,

but we ran out of walls.

- Looks like we're having a lot of fun in this one.

- That's when I'm five and that's the yellow bike I had

till I was seven and a half.

But, I couldn't ride it after I hurt my leg

and then I got too big.

Oh wait, come over here.

- [Mom] Who's that?

- [Amy] Are you really my mother?

- When I was up there and I imagined what it was like

to be down here with you,

this is exactly how I imagined it.

Come on.

♫ Oh

♫ I feel you right there

♫ When I'm alone

♫ So

♫ I still see you there

♫ Don't hide

♫ If you fly

♫ I'll fly too

♫ With you

- [Dad] Look, a guitar.

- Can I play it?

♫ Anywhere

- [Dad] All right.

♫ If you go

- Ready?

One, two, three, four.

[Amy] Can I have a guitar, Mom?

- I promise I'll get you one.

- [Dad] A natural.

Did you have fun?

- [Narrator] At Obolos, we use advanced medical research

and space exploration to help the most important family

in the world, yours.

E-currency, Earth Restoration, Space Exploration.

♫ Ah ah

♫ Oh oh

♫ Anywhere

♫ Anywhere

- Good night.

- [Dad] Good night you guys.

- I love you.

♫ Beautiful dreamer

♫ Wake unto me

♫ Starlight and dewdrops

♫ Are waiting for thee

♫ Sounds of the rude world

♫ Heard in the day

♫ Left by the moonlight

♫ Have all passed away

♫ Beautiful dreamer

♫ Queen of my song

♫ List' while I woo thee

♫ With soft melody

(ominous music)

(doorbell ringing)

- [Dad] Amy!

(light knocking)

- [Mom] Can I come in?

- Amy, talk to your mother.

- Amy?

(somber music)

That's an elegant dress.

I can fix that for you.

- Don't touch it.

- You must've looked beautiful in it.

I always dreamed of going prom dress shopping

with my daughter.

- Get out.

Get out.

What's wrong with you?

I said get out!

Get out!

- You just keep talking.

You keep saying everything that I've never wanted to hear

and you don't care.

You don't, you, you're hurting me regardless.

- (beeping) It's 3 am.

Are you still up?

- It's almost impossible to see where it was.

It's called invisible mending.

Took me a long time to learn.

(eerie electronic music)

(ominous music)

- [Door] Welcome home, Amy.

Bye, Amy.

- [Mom] Amy.

- [Amy] I can't do this.

- [Mom] Please, I'm sorry.

[Amy] Why did you leave me like that?

I wanted this to be a nice visit.

I have so much I wanna know about you.

- [Announcer] Expect delays on New Jersey-bound transit.

Expect delays for London-bound transit.

- I tried to get some day-to-day shots,

but it's not easy.

These are the people that I'm with.

- Is the treatment working?

- When I started, they told me I had less than two years.

If I get a little more, I'll be grateful.

- Are you in pain?

I never got to have breakfast with my mom.

- You just don't remember.

- I used to act out your funeral

in therapy with dolls.

I'd say the speeches and bury you.

Then you came back.

We used to call you zombie mom.

- You would've been five years old at my funeral.

I'm sorry.

On the day that I left, your dad and I made you breakfast.

And, we tried to plan out everything for you.

Dad won't see me this time.

I wanna go out.

I wanna do something fun.

Let's have the time of our lives.

(electronic dance music)

♫ So, we're leaving

♫ Now, the hotel

♫ The night is young,

♫ And, I'm ready to dance.

♫ We hit the club

♫ Around eleven or twelve

♫ The records on

♫ And I'm ready to dance

♫ We're feeling good

♫ Now, I'm feeling fine

♫ We love to party

♫ Until the weekends gone

- I'm not going back again.

I'm gonna stay here with you.

Woo!

♫ So, we're leaving

♫ From the hotel

♫ The night is young

♫ And I'm ready to dance

♫ You move it round

(crowd shouting)

(Mom mumbles)

- [Amy] You okay?

(alarm blaring)

- [Man] You all right?

You okay, ma'am?

Sure you're all right?

You want us to call someone?

- Hello?

Yes.

13th and Washington.

That's right.

Okay, please hurry.

(ominous music)

- Amy?

- [Amy] I didn't think I'd ever see you again.

I thought that was it.

- [Mom] I went to your house first and your neighbor told me

I could find you here.

(delicate music)

- This is Debbie.

She's still tired from her birthday yesterday.

She's three.

I think she looks like you.

(both laughing)

And, that's Adam.

Adam in navy blue climbing over the other kids.

(both giggling)

He's five.

Let's see if he recognizes you.

- Hello, Adam.

- Hi.

- Do you know who I am?

- Adam, this is my mom.

- Hi.

- Hi.

- [Mom] Your children are so beautiful.

When did you get married?

- Scott and I are separated.

- No.

- He was an ass.

Just took me years to admit it.

- (chuckles) Feel like I know so little about you.

Seems like your lives are just passing me by.

- It's hard doing it all alone.

I'm exhausted.

(both chuckling)

I'd blame Scott but I think it would be worse

if he was here.

- When you go gray, I hope you don't dye it.

Do you already dye your hair?

- What?

No.

- You hate people touching your hair.

- No, that's not right.

I don't hate people touching my hair.

- Oh, hi (giggles).

What would you like to do most right now?

- See your rocket ship.

- Oh, we can't do that.

I have pictures, though.

What about ice cream?

Would you like some ice cream?

Oh, could we have ice cream?

- Yeah.

- We can have ice cream.

(all laughing)

Good.

You do?

(ominous music)

(light knocking)

(monitors beeping)

- Adam?

- [Mom] It's me.

Don't get up.

- Oh.

(chuckles)

[Amy] I should have known it wouldn't be Adam.

He's busy with his new job.

Debbie never visits.

I look terrible.

I wish I knew you were coming.

I would've done my makeup.

- You look wonderful.

- How long have you been traveling since you started?

- Two years.

Your mom's not leaving again.

- I remember when my dad told me that

you were very sick and you had to go away.

He said you were gonna stretch out the last two years

so you could cheat time

and watch me grow up.

(cries)

(ominous music)

♫ Beautiful dreamer

♫ Wake unto me

♫ Starlight and dewdrops

♫ Are waiting for thee

♫ Sound of the rude world

♫ Heard in the day

♫ Led by the moonlight

♫ Have all passed away

- Good bye, sweetie.

You have me in your heart always.

Don't miss me.

(monitor beeping)

- Was it worth it?

- I got to see less of you than most mothers,

but also more.

(cries)

- (chuckles) Your hair.

I love your hair.

(dark rhythmic music)

Mom, mommy, mamma

My mamma.

♫ Oh

♫ I feel you right there

♫ When I'm alone

♫ So

♫ I still see you there

♫ Don't hide

♫ If you fly

♫ I'll fly too

♫ With you

♫ Anywhere

♫ And, if you go

♫ Don't go

Entrepreneur John Sanei - CEOwise with Dan Newman #14 - Duration: 9:59.

John thank you so much for joining CEOwise. It's an absolute pleasure.

I don't know if I can shake your hand after climbing, but you are a trend specialist, now does

that mean that you help companies look into the future and address the trend

and technology that's coming up?

I think the best way I can describe

what I do is categorize and contextualize trends to give businesses

the opportunity to innovate with purpose and laser focus. You see there's so many

trends and they differently applied in different parts of the world to

different types of consumers, in different types of industries,

so if you don't categorize and contextualize it you don't give the

courage to the business owners to make the new decisions, so I actually call it

trenovate which is categorizing trends to help you innovate.

I read your book 'What's Your Moonshot?'

and I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

What inspired you to write the book?

A couple things,

in fact three things, the first thing was, there's a great saying by Yogi Bhajan

he's the guy who brought Kundalini Yoga from the east to the west and he says

that if you want to learn something read, about it if you want to understand

something write about it, and if you want to master something teach it and so by

no means am I a master, but having to put a book together really forces you to

become very keenly focused in on what are you trying to teach? And so I really

had to become quite sharp about that.

The second reason is a Feng Shui

principle that says go out with the old to bring in anything new

and I had this sort of thinking and ideas and concepts and frameworks in my

head for 40 years, and so really to release them was giving me the allowance

to bring on something new, and lastly I truly believe that individuals today are

the same powers organizations and companies have had in the past and we're

able now to create bigger, broader, big moon shots and just from our own

individual capacity with access to billions of people on the net.

And you mentioned competition and you said that your competitors of the future are not

going to be your competitors of today.

Absolutely, because you have no idea who

your competition is going to be and you have no idea from where it's gonna come.

I'll give you an example, the spice trade had lasted hundreds of years was

disrupted by the ice trade. A gentleman in Boston America for the first time

ever was able to create a warehouse that was able to transport ice between places

on ships, he was then able to take ice from one part of the world to India and

then break the whole a spice trade that was overland for many years with so many

people having people touch it making it very expensive. All of a sudden because

you could take ice to India nobody in India at ice so all of us an ice was

worth so much they gave him so many spices he was able to bring and totally

break the price barons with their spices, but then you see what happened the

electricity started making ice machines and ice machines now were cheaper than

carrying ice from around the world. Now on top of that ice machines made ice

boxes which became fridges. Do you know that last year the sharpest in decline of

fridge sales in New York and San Francisco ever, why, because Amazon fresh

now delivers anything in 60 minutes. You don't need to have a fridge at home anymore.

This is disruption, spice to ice, to electricity, to drones, so now if you are

not able to understand where disruptions coming from, if your eyes not about

agility and it's about competition, because spice people are

competing in spice people, ice warehouse is competing against ice, ice machines

are competing against ice machines, fridges against fridges. No no that's not where

the competition is coming from anymore.

Now you said that by 2020 almost 50%, in

the U.S. almost 50% of people are going to be self-employed or freelancers,

as you termed it. That's an incredible amount. Yes. Does that mean that the whole shift

is moving towards entrepreneurship?

Yes, so I think in the past, and it's not my

stat it's a McKinsey stat actually I've just quoted them, in the past the

large organizations were able to bring efficiencies and what has happened today

is that efficiency is the cancer for innovation and what we need today is

agility and big massive organizations aren't able to be agile and this lack of

agility puts them at a very back foot and that's why big organizations and I

think the trend, not I think, I know trend is called the decentralization of

power and so what we see is these mega structure organizations really starting

to fold away to create small networked businesses. So entrepreneurship and this

idea that we have access to so much information, to so much ability to

manufacture anything we want through 3D printing and the likes puts us in a

very powerful position to create small mini businesses around us that could

possibly become global businesses with the advent of Kickstarter or any of

those sort of tools. So, I think this move towards entrepreneurship is driven by

two things, one, the lack of security inside this corporations and two, access

to so much it makes it a no-brainer to actually start becoming a freelancer.

And maybe three tech.

Yeah well exactly, but this access is tech, actually

tech is the interface and I say McKenzie says 2020 in America,

but if we look at how communication is growing around the world I believe that

the rest of the world would be on the same trend in the next five to ten years

without even trying it becomes a natural sort of organic process.

You've recently been inducted as a faculty member of the Singularity University, what is that,

what is Singularity University?

Singularity University was started by

two gentlemen about eight to ten years ago Ray Kurzweil who's a bona fide

genius, he's written a book called 'The Singularity is Near' 86% of his

predictions have come true so far. His prediction is that by 2029 computers

will be as smart as human beings and the other gentlemen is Peter Diamandis

who's a very well-known futurist, a space entrepreneur, an author, just an all round

futurist and the two of them got together and set up a university in the

same campus as NASA in San Francisco and their main job is to help the world

understand the future better and to solve the grand challenges that face

humanity, hunger, thirst, education, energy and these sort of things.

As being a faculty member I start to get to teach around the world and start to work with

the largest organizations and governments around the world helping

them prepare for the future.

Finally, where do we start by reaching for a moonshot?

We've got to become clear that we first have the capability to

reach our moon shots today and we have the capability as individuals to reach

billions of people. That's never been an option for us as human beings and for us

to have this new capability means that if we're able to bring a solution that

can just create a positive notion in two million people, that could pay you $1

each for that, look at that idea and how quickly it can spread. So first and

foremost what's our internal dialog

saying to us? How confident are we feeling about ourselves, the impact we

bring, how much of an architect are we? And then secondly how much are we

exposing ourselves to the future to understand it? I often get off key

notes and people go "Oh my god, it's like I'm so scared I'm so worried", I'm like

the only reason you're doing that is because you haven't been exposing

yourself. How often you get onto trend websites, how often do you watch

futurists talking, how comfortable are you with the language that's been

used, because the more you expose yourself to it it's like a virtuous

cycle, right, the more I expose myself to it the more of an architect I've become,

the more of an architect I become the more I expose myself to it and it's just

this continuous loop, but what people do is they don't expose

themselves and stay victims and so you can't create moonshots and then people

think on are you thinking too big calm down calm down sit down, but the truth is

we've all got access to it now. I'm building a business right now called

AIRBRN that yesterday we entered a competition to service Holland's largest

telecom business, now where was that available before, I mean how would I, me in Cape

Town my other partner in London, two partners in Joburg, all of us speak to

each other continuously through WhatsApp and Skype and whatever the case may be,

we found this competition we all entered it from around the world, what, now we

could be servicing somebody in Euros in Holland living in Cape Town, this is an

opportunity that only you can have when you first believe you can, start

developing this sort of businesses in line with what's coming and then start

spreading it to the billions of people that we have access to.
