Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel, I'm Emma and today I'm opening the March Scrawlrbox.
So I had a little problem with the shipping of this one, it arrived half opened.
So I'm hoping nothing is... stolen.
But something is definitely broken, because everything is a mess inside.
I don't think you can see... maybe you can. See?
Yeah... so let me zoom you in a little closer, and let's open the package.
Okay so we're gonna open. I'm guessing I'm gonna have some pencils.
Scrawlrbox, if you're watching... do not send this without a proper package.
It's everywhere. Like... everywhere... look at this!
Okay so the pastel was getting everywhere so I had to throw the box away and clean as much as I could.
But you can see it damaged the paper and the card quite a bit.
So, I'm gonna go back and tell you a little bit more about the supplies0
So first we got the Rembrandt soft pastels,
"They are meant to be high quality artist pastels, with the perfect balance of usability and professional results."
We're gonna test them just after.
Next we have the Derwent Pastel Pencils.
"Although beautiful, pastels are not always the cleanest medium to use..."
Oh really? [laughing]
"With Derwent's pastel pencil you can enjoy the beauty of a pastel, without the mess".
That's definitely true.
The next one (item) is the Pastel Pencil Sharpener, by Derwent as well.
And this is the Fabriano Tiziano Pastel Paper.
"You can see and feel the difference as you use this paper. The pastel pigment grips the textured surface of this specialist paper".
Okay!
The theme of the month is: Cosmic Landscape!
There is pastel INSIDE of the wrapper of the candy.
I don't know if you can see it... see there?
I don't know, but yeah, there.
Sooo... I don't think I'm gonna eat this. That's too bad.
Before I start my drawing, I'm gonna swatch real quick the supplies.
So firtst we have this pencil in: Aluminium Grey.
Oh... it's so chalky.
I really don't like pastels! [laugh]
I'm not even sure if I'm doing this right... okay, so this one is Mint Green.
Next we have the Carbon Black.
I hate the sound of it, against the paper.
This one is Prussian Blue.
And this one is Titanium White or Titanium white... I don't know how to pronounce this word.
But wow! This is really white.
Don't know if you can see, but that's quite different from the paper.
Okay so we are testing now the Soft Pastels.
So we're gonna start with the black one which is called.... Black.
It's just called Black.
Okay, here we go.
I don't know how you're meant to use them. They are really soft though.
Because those feel like quite dry, this one is really soft.
Next we're gonna use the White one, so they don't have fancy names.
You know what? This is messier but I think I like the feel of it better than the pencils.
This one is... what?
Ph... Phthalo Blue...
What the hell?
Phtha.. okay I cannot pronounce this so... we're gonna go with Blue.
And the next one is Prussian Blue.
wow...
This one is really dry for some reason. Because the other ones were not.
And this one feels a lot dryer.
There is some fallouts, as expected with pastels.
But the colours are quite good. It's just the medium that I'm not really fond of.
I'm gonna try and think of something to draw for Cosmic Landscape. Let's get started!
Okay so this is what I have so far. I don't think I can do any more.
Because, the more I layer, the more blended it gets
And I don't have any warnish or anything like that. So I can't set what I have and build up on top of it.
I don't know what to do... I'd like to add some more details. But with the tools that I have, I'm not sure I can.
The process was really messy...
I think I'm gonna stop for now, maybe I'll add just a few details once I removed the tape.
So this is my Cosmic Landscape piece for the Scrawlr Challenge
I don't think I'm gonna use those supplies again. Just because it's not a medium that I like... [Cat noise]
Sorry my cat is meowing... Nym shh [cat still meows]
Uh, what was I saying?
Yeah, so I'm not sure I'm gonna use those supplies again. But still, it was fun tro try.
A bit frustrating because I think I don't have enough skill to really do what I wanted.
But... it was fun nonetheless.
Thank you so much for watching!
If you enjoyed, please give me a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel!
