Pt 3 : The Midnight Hunt | A Journey With The Gaurakshaks Of Ramgarh | Unique Stories From India - Duration: 11:30.

Tap the bell icon on the YouTube app

And never miss out on unique stories from 101 India

It's 9.47 PM and we've been up since 5 AM

We're finally going towards a 'naka',

Which is like a checkpoint

If somebody is trying to smuggle cows tonight

The good thing is that it's a new experience

Because there are gunshots and stone pelting

That is where all the action is going to happen

My first pit stop was to pick Phool Singh up

He had planned our itinerary for the night

We have to go about 10 kilometers towards a small village called Putkha

That's where our checkpoint is

We will meet the people over there, who will teach us how the checkpoint is set

up

Then we will head back

About 2 kilometres from there, some of our men are waiting

They will tell us if any cow smuggling van passes by

That's when we will return to the checkpoint

This encounter will happen somewhere between 1AM - 2 AM

Maybe even 3AM

You will get to see how we protect cows

How we are doing our duty towards our mother

How we are helping the police

To uphold the law and helping the nation

Jai Shri Ram!

Up ahead, we will be entering Bharatpur district

By God's grace, we had seen a van there once

When we tried to stop it, they didn't stop

And the smugglers started firing at us

There was a truck in the village and they realised it was blocking their path

So they stopped, got out of the van and escaped while still firing at us

We fought back with our sticks, pelted stones at them

We get 4-5 tips about cow smuggling vans every month

We manage to catch them every time we get a tip

Did you get a tip today?

Yes, we got a tip today

It'll pass, it'll pass

We have to switch our headlights off once we get on the bridge

We need to move very slowly from here

Xulfee (Director), if I die here, I'll come back as a ghost and haunt you

Who is he?

This is Bunty Bhai

Jai Shri Ram

If a smuggling van crosses Malakheda, breaking the police or the gaurakshak checkpoint

We will know about it immediately

First they get the information, then they pass it on to us

From Govindgarh till Ramgarh, they have to cross

our checkpoint here

This checkpoint is their final barrier

If they cross this checkpoint, there's no one to stop them

But why are people here so determined to stop them?

The brutal way these smugglers transport cows in their vans

It moves us to tears

It comes from within

They are mistreating our mother (the cow)

How can we just watch them treat our mothers like this?

If someone were to tie up and carry my mother away like this

Can I stand by and watch?

According to Hindu religion, we have two mothers

And it is our true calling to save cows

The cow is like our Mother India

They say 33 crore Hindu gods reside in a cow

Why doesn't this happen all over the country?

The kind of fear that you see here

If everyone was a Bhagat Singh, then the country wouldn't have been under British rule

Bhagat Singhs are still born today, but their names are different

Switch off the camera

Is this the same car?

It might be

Is everything ok?

Yes

Whose car is it?

Just a local

Now we have seen the checkpoint, the spikes and all. What is next?

Now we will go for some refreshments

And when we get more information, we will come back

You will get a call from them? Yes

Should I keep this stick? For my safety

This is a special Police station set up by the Rajasthan Government

Just for curbing illegal cow smuggling

We don't even have electricity

There is nothing here

We don't even have drinking water

We have to go 3 kilometres to fetch water

The Gaurakshak Police station was a novel idea by the state

But not the best executed one

No lights, no drinking water

Some policemen were forced on duty even with high fever

Now we are going back to our checkpoint

Jai Shri Ram

You have a high fever

No, I'm fine, it's okay

Please get yourself checked

Okay sir

When we get to the checkpoint, we have to signal the men there like this

With this sound, our guards will get to know that one of our gaurakshaks is approaching

Please teach me? How do you do it?

You need to exhale, then adjust your cheeks and whistle

Just a second, let me try

I cannot do it

Secret signals given to alert the outpost

Spike strips laid to deflate the tyres of the smugglers' vans

Motorcycles used as barricades

And a lathi-charge on bikes in the pitch black countryside

This checkpoint was a far cry from the ones I was used to back in the city

Phool Singh took us along to patrol the small dirt roads

through the farms often used by the smugglers

I couldn't see a thing

It was pitch dark

This night, we were the gaurakshaks

Bunty Bhai is calling

Hello?

You can see a van?

We are getting there

Bunty Bhai just called. We have to get to the checkpoint

They've spotted a van

Maybe it's a smuggling van

We should switch off the lights, right?

Switch off the lights

Let's go

Switch off the light at the back as well

At dawn, Phool Singh got a call from Bunty Bhai

that our mission for the night was successful

I was getting goosebumps

Jai Kaali!

Veer Bajrangi!

Har Har Mahadev!

Jai Kaali!

Veer Bajrangi!

Har Har Mahadev!

Its 5 AM in the morning

It's freezing and the gaurakshaks are serving tea

I am serving tea

This is Pappu ji

Bunty Gujjar Maharakpur

We get strength from Lord Hanuman

We have caught the van at the cost of our lives

We worked very hard. They fired at us

We got a call at 5 AM in the morning, that they have managed to rescue some cows

They had a run in with the smugglers, at this Gaurakhsak Police station

The cow smugglers rammed their vehicle into the tree

You can see how badly damaged it is

Earlier in the night, it was very peaceful

Now everything has changed

Look at that

A young boy gave us their location

Telling us when the smuggling van passed by

They managed to pass the gaurakshak checkpoint

We had drums and boulders to block their way

Both of us blocked their path with our sticks

They rammed their vehicle into the drums and then hit the tree

The smugglers' van hit our barricade vehicle

Our man who was standing guard injured his hand

He has an injury

How will it heal?

We will apply cow urine and it will be fine

Please wash it

We will only apply cow urine

But wash it first

We will only apply cow urine

First wash it and then apply cow urine

We will apply cow urine on it

But won't it...? Everything will be all right

None of the others are injured? Nobody is injured

Jai Shri Ram

I came here to understand the Gaurakshak situation in Ramgarh

For some it is about religious beliefs

For some its about political mileage

And for others it's about cruelty to animals

And even about their personal freedoms and individual choices

Three days, many questions and one long cow chase later

I realised that i was still confused as f**k

Being Happy - Part 2: Punjab | Kashmir | Himachal - Duration: 18:45.

Happiness is if you get bread for dinner What else do you need?

Are you happy here now?

Absolutely.

As we go further you will experience peace.

I'll only be happy when I have my own business.

If you don't have food at home, how can you be Happy?

Whatever you do, you do from your heart. That's happiness.

With Gujarat, Rajasthan and Haryana done,

I now move forward in this quest to unravel the mystery of happiness…

I now move on to Haryana's neighbor

The land of farmers, the home land of the warrior Sikhs, the land of peaceful Gurudwaras

I am in Punjab

But my stop in Punjab is one of its furthest ends.

So I needed to hitch a ride

and soon enough I got this ride.

Didn't take long before I posed my question of happiness to the driver of my rickshaw

Travel all you want across India or the world

and you still won't find happiness.

The heart is like that.

Only when your heart is at peace, will you experience Happiness.

Happiness is if you get bread for dinner

What else do you need?

When your kids are be healthy and happy.

When your home is peaceful.

If my family members are happy, I will be happy.

If my kids aren't happy, why would I be.

68 years back a line was drawn on the map of then India,

a line that defined the geography that exists today…

68 years back, Attari - the last station on the Indian soil,

the station just 2 kms away from Wagah station in Pakistan,

saw a train full of mutilated corpses- a train full of hatred, disharmony and blood.

Today I stand searching for happiness at that very place.

and I met someone with a story not very different from mine.

Are you from Mumbai? What are you doing here?

I had a small tiff with my family members, I was upset with them. So I ran away with a friend.

When I initially came here, I stayed in a cemetery.

There was a guy who was already staying there, he became my friend.

He asked me about where have I come from and why?

I said I have come from Mumbai to look for work.

So he gave me my first job.

In India, people move from small villages to towns and cities like Mumbai hoping to fulfill their dreams?

You on the other hand have done the opposite.

I think it's better here than it is in Mumbai.

If somebody from outside the village comes here, he is welcomed with open arms.

He is treated as one of our own.

In Mumbai, if people end up having guests over…

their first thought is to ensure that the guests don't stay long.

Do you prefer your life in Mumbai or here in Attari?

I love it here, that's why I stayed back here.

So you are happy here?

Absolutely. I am happy.

After talking to him it was time to move on from this silent not very known border

to the more famous, noisier one…the Wagah border.

While chatting up in Attari I lost track of time.

I was a little late to reach the Wagah border

So I tweaked my destination pointers and found another 'sarhad' (border)

which looked equally - if not more interesting….

In this small place here two entire countries live in peace and harmony…

In the 68 years of violent history, amidst the hatred that we are supposed to have in our hearts,

this place here has still kept alive the happy India and Pakistan that once were.

Amongst the stories of hatred and past - this small place beams with stories of heritage and friendship…

So happy I was with my experience

that I instantly decided that this is the place that deserves my happiness souvenir.

I transfer a happiness souvenir from one state to another.

So, I had gone to this place called Guhana in Haryana which is famous for a type of 'Jalebi' they make.

I want to give you this as a souvenir of happiness.

Thank you. Thank you for coming here.

We would also like to give you this auto, It has come from Pakistan.

Thank you so much.

As I look outside the window, the road turn steep and the valleys grew deeper.

If serenity had another name,

it would be called Kashmir.

This place, no matter how beautiful it is

peace hasn't always prevailed here

I saw an old bookstores in the markets of Srinagar.

I went in thinking I would get some answer from the books here

But then I met her, Shaheen.

You stay in Kashmir… this place is flooded with military troops…

don't you feel the unrest?

A person might find his peace in a hut

it's still peace

Someone might be rich…

he might have all the wealth in the world but he may not be necessarily happy.

The poor wants that I should have money and stay happy

So does the rich… he also wants money to be happy

What kind of happiness are you looking for?

I can't describe it. I do have a smile on my face !

What does your heart say but… You should feel happy from within.

If your heart is happy… you are internally happy…

then your soul will automatically be happy

I can feel the happiness just by talking to you

Thank you so much

Where in Kashmir can I find people who I can ask about their happiness ?

When you will sit in the Shikara, see the Dal Lake

The moment you step inside the Shikara, you will feel happy…

So I took Shaheen's word

And I did go to the Dal Lake.

And yes I did take a shikara too

And I asked my Shikara wala, Are you Happy?

The tourists that come here are our guests.

It is our duty to make sure they are having a good time.

Our happiness is in helping them

After coming here, I am hearing from everyone that Kashmir is a very peaceful place.

It's contrary to what I have read about.

Aren't you feel the peace?

A little. Yes!

As we go further you will experience even more peace.

God took time out to make Kashmir with his own hands.

Right here in Paradise on Earth

I have definitely found 'shanti' and I have definitely found 'sukoon'

There is big smile on my face

But I still don't know if I can call it 'happiness'

If you had to make a list of ' Things to know about kashmir'

The second thing after the Shikaras would be the Kashmiri willow cricket bats.

A thing that is quite an integral part of our cricket crazy nation.

And I couldn't have missed an opportunity of meeting someone

Who moulds these willows into the stunning bats we play with.

I was lucky enough to meet this artist who has been making these bats for a very long time now.

Did you ever wish to be a cricketer?

You can't just wish for such things.

You need money to fulfill these wishes.

Apart from the luck and the hard work the players put in,

a lot depends on the bat you make as well.

When we see these cricketers play with our bats

Why wouldn't we be happy.

Mohd. Azharuddin (Former India Captain) used to play with my bats.

Azaharuddin? You gave him you bat?

Yes! Am sure you felt proud?

Ofcourse, But then there time like today when I feel sad thinking about it!

Why? Thinking about where I was and where I am today?

So you aren't happy now?

Here… Nobody cares about your work.

They do not recognize the hard work that has been put in.

Work here isn't what I want it to be like.

Why don't you go back to where you were working before!

I will go!

I will only be happy now when I have my own bat factory.

You supply bats to so many players,

When they score a century and lift their bats to acknowledge the crowd, how does that feel?

I don't feel anything. In fact I feel sad.

I will only be happy when my work is seen and appreciated.

I have been going around India, In search of happiness.

Somebody gave this to me near Wagah Border.

The same way you make these bats with your hands

An artist in Pakistan made this Auto rickshaw.

I want to give you this Happiness souvenir.

I am expecting that you will be a little happier now.

Very Much so. I am very happy.

I want you to also give me something that I can pass on to someone else.

I want you to Sign this for me,

Cricketer are the ones who end up being famous. People call them their heroes.

But its only with your bats that they can achieve that.

According to me, you are the real hero.

Thank you so much.

He may not be the happiest.

But the spirit to get there is still intact.

He strives everyday to find his happiness.

I guess it's time for me to do the same.

Moving from the Kashmir valley to the Kangra valley, I have reached Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.

Sometimes I wonder, all these people that I am meeting,

all the places that I am visiting I am leaving a part of me in all those places.

But I guess that is what inching towards happiness really is.

You feel you are home, when you are happy even if it is miles away from your real home.

Proving every word I just said is one such lady from Germany who has travelled the world,

But what she didn't find anywhere in the world, she found it here in Dharamshala.

If there is work, I will be Happy.

If there is no work, how would I be happy?

I can't sit home and not work.

I need to feed myself.

And if you don't have anything to eat,

how can you be happy?

I am happy because I can give someone happiness.

The things that you do

Should give you a sense of satisfaction

A sense of contentment

A sense of realization

And then,

that's what you call happiness.

Most of the people, what they do is

They look for happiness

And what you get is….

Not very…the true happiness

Which is dependent on something

So, I thought

If I look for happiness,

I wouldn't the get the happiness that I really aspire

Then I thought

Okay. Let's be happy without a reason, maybe that might last longer

Than happiness that is dependent on so many other things

So I am happy.

Imagine leaving everything behind

In search of Happiness…

Basically imagine me!

Now imagine… Living in another country against your will but with a beaming smile on your face

basically imagine these little children in Dharamsala at the Tibetan Children's Village.

This school for the last 54 years has been home to kids,

kids who have been orphaned.

I don't know what is the meaning of happiness for them…

but one thing that I know for sure is that I am going to leave them some smiles!

Right now I am the head master.

I look after teachers and students in the primary section.

Before that I was teaching Maths, science and English also.

For the past 10 years I have been doing this job.

How many students do you actually look after.

We have 1750 kids in our school and we look after all those kids.

What kind of happiness do you experience when you do this.

When the teacher is prepared and the students are enjoying the lessons

There is a lot of happiness in the childrens' face

So happiness is when children are being cared for

When we are cared for by someone else

then that is real happiness

You are a teacher

Life is a lesson

I am a student

So, what lesson would you like to give me on happiness

First I always tell my kids

Be honest, there is always happiness in it

And whatever you do, you do from your heart – that is happiness

I was in Kashmir a few days back and there I met a guy who made cricket bats

This is the happiness souvenir, that I would like to give you

So that you can give it to your children

Thank you so much

This is his name: Bir Bhan

It is great isn't it. Something special from Kashmir

I also want to give you something special.

Whoever I saw here, their faces were happy faces

Sir told me about a student of the school long time ago

Who wanted to see and feel Tibet so much

That he smuggled the soil from Tibet here to Dharamshala

Later, they made bowls and saucers from that very soil

And that is what he wants me to pass on as a gift of happiness.

I can't really think straight to explain what is it that I am feeling right now.

But what I know is that it's overwhelming.

Pt 2: The Hindu Gaurakshaks | A Journey With The Gaurakshaks Of Ramgarh | Unique Stories From India - Duration: 5:54.

Tap the bell icon on the YouTube app

And never miss out on unique stories from 101 India

I am your mother. I give you milk

But you sell my flesh

Why do you make money

From your mother's hide

I just met Farooq, and I am now going to meet Naval Kishore

Who heads the Hindu Gaurakshak wing in Ramgarh

Naval Kishore is the head of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad unit in Ramgarh

And an influential personality behind the Hindu Gauraksha movement here

Before agreeing to this interview

He ordered his right hand man Phool Singh

To accompany us and do a complete background check on our team

They say cows feed everyone, still everyone feeds on the cow

Money has made them forget that the cow is their mother

Everybody has forgotten their relationship with the cow

What the cow means to us

And how useful the cow is

Only when he was satisfied did he call us for the shoot at a secluded location

Ramgarh lies in the Alwar district of Rajasthan

It's on the border with Haryana

It's through this area that cattle is transported for slaughter

It is the golden route for cow smuggling

Some people told me that people from other religions also help you in gauraksha

There are some young Muslim boys, who are our friends

But they don't work with the same zeal

They help us secretly, not in the open

While talking to Naval Kishore, I told him about my meeting with the Imam

Saheb

And his opinion on the importance of saving cows

What the Maulana has said is correct

But not everyone from their community listens to people like him

If they want to eat meat, there are other animals as well

But cows are sacred as per our religion and holy books

The Vedas say the cow is like our mother

My message to Narendra Modi

Is to approve the cow as India's national animal

Meeting Naval Kishore and Acharya was quite an experience

It was the first time I had met people like them

They held on to their religious beliefs so rigidly

It made me feel uncomfortable even though I'm a Hindu

After the meeting, Phool Singh took me to the local gaushala (cow shelter)

Where he promised a sight I would never have seen before

I only drink cow's milk

Not buffalo milk?

I don't drink buffalo milk

Only cow's milk?

I only drink cow's milk

One cow man

I drink cow milk, cow urine

I have never had cow urine

It cures diabetes and kills all kinds of germs and diseases

As I entered the cow shelter, I saw what looked like

a sea of cows and bulls

In 25 years of my life, I had not seen this many cows even in total

I have seen humans in local trains But this even beat that

Did she hit you?

Are there red marks? Not much

The bulls with the blue tag have been castrated and sterilized

So, no 'flowers will bloom in his garden'?

Gaushala was a luxury resort for rescued cows

They enjoyed facilities like a doctor on demand

24x7 fodder, ambulances and life insurance

If only we had such resorts for rescued people

Having met both Hindu and Muslim cow crusaders

I wanted to know more about the villains of the story

The cow smugglers

So I decided to visit the only Police Station in Ramgarh

And find out what the laws actually say about the matter

If someone transports cows for slaughter

Or if someone transports beef

It falls under the Rajasthan Bovine Animal Act

Sub-sections 3, 5 and 8

Cow smugglers transport cows in trucks

Which are packed full with cows

They are first sedated using injections

Which makes it easy to smuggle them

Even luxury cars like Scorpios are modified

So you can smuggle cows inside

During our conversation, I asked him about

The alleged violent activities of gaurakshaks reported by the media

And whether Ramgarh's gaurakshaks

Actually take the law into their own hands

Nothing of that sort happens here

In this area, whenever we go to catch cow smugglers, we carry our weapons

So when we join the gaurakshaks

We have our weapons

And we have their support

Gaurakshaks are mainly our informants

My encounter at the police station left me even more confused

Do the state and volunteer forces actually join hands and work together?

It's 9.47 PM and we've been up since 5 AM

We are finally going towards a 'naka', which is like a checkpoint

If somebody is trying to smuggle cows tonight

The good thing is that it's a new experience

Because there are gunshots and stone pelting

That is where all the action is going to happen

[Music]

in the car rented a car from Haven got a

nice upgrade of the car design as well

cuz they needed an automatic car because

as you know they drive on the other side

of the road they think that you can see

and driving not over here that one here

the car drive on the left hand side the

UK in firming him the UK because that's

right this in the middle of England in

some of the UK so I have a meeting here

birmingham and then flying back tomorrow

again hold queue Vienna yes we've got a

nice upgrade to an audi a6 s line I'll

show you this nice dashboard it's pretty

cool look at this dashboard on the audi

a6 s line I look at look at the top

speed over there

so yeah driving on the other side of the

road on the left hand side instead of

the right hand side that's how they do

it here inning there's like really

strong strong winds right in here in

Birmingham in England at the moment they

said like over 100 km/h about 6070 miles

per hour so the landing with the little

prop plane in Birmingham was pretty

interesting like something like this so

in like this event landed

okay guys let's check into the hotel now

staying at another hill obviously

[Music]

hey guys welcome to the Birmingham hill

in UK in England just checked in to the

room so you know the drill already I got

my my free water as usual and you know

what's coming right what time is it it's

there you go it's 1220 to let me show

you the hilton standard time here hilton

standard time two minutes off I think

they do it on purpose it's got to be

imperfect everywhere we go where we were

polled and learn the u.s. we're in

Russia now in England always two minutes

off okay so yes this is the room special

I look at the bathroom mr. me yeah

there's the bathroom set a bathtub which

we never used to cut a small shower and

yeah that's about it what you'll notice

Pt 1: The Muslim Gaurakshaks | A Journey With The Gaurakshaks Of Ramgarh | Unique Stories From India - Duration: 6:20.

Tap the bell icon on the YouTube app

And never miss out on unique stories from 101 India

We need to switch our headlights off once we get on the bridge

Turn off the lighs

We need to move very slowly from here

Who would have thought that beef and cow politics

Would occupy the political centre stage of our country

And lead to such polarity and media obsession

Personally, it's more difficult for me to fully understand the 'beef issue'

And the kind of political attention it has gained

So, I decided to go to the Rajasthan-Haryana border

Where most of the cow smuggling in India allegedly happens

And meet with some of the gaurakshaks (cow vigilantes) there

To get a clearer idea about what drives them

And to figure out for myself what was going on at a grassroot level

The Hindus love their cows

Which is quite obvious because of their religious significance to them

But what's unheard of is a group of Muslims risking their lives to rescue cows

We are in the small town of Ramgarh, near Alwar, Rajasthan

To meet one such group of Muslim gaurakshaks

After reaching Ramgarh, I met my host Farooq

A gaurakshak who took me to his village of Muslim gaurakshaks

Why do people smuggle cows?

To make leather

And also for their flesh

Let us give you some knowledge about farming

I am from India, not from America

If you are an Indian, tell me what this is

I cannot remember now

What is it?

Garlic

Inside the village, Farooq took me to see his farm

Instead of seeing cows or their Muslim protectors, I was quizzed on my farming knowledge

It was followed by a customary welcome drink

Some fresh cow's milk

Finally Farooq took me to his uncle, the village sarpanch

And the perfect person to tell me about the Muslim gaurakshaks

This entire region of Ramgarh is known for breeding cows

The Meo caste Muslims have been raising cattle for generations

Cows are very useful animals

Cow dung is also very useful

Even cow urine is invaluable

And it's milk is the best

Cow's milk has saffron in it

This is the reason why our elders started rearing cattle

And since then we are following in their footsteps

And serving the cow

I asked him about the allegations against the Muslim community regarding the issue of

cow meat

Whether our neighbors are upset with the work we are doing

Even if it is legal and we are doing it in our homes

That action is prohibited for a muslim

If there is anyone in Uttar Pradesh or anywhere else for that matter

If anyone indulges in such activities

He is not a muslim. He's the son of a bastard

After hearing what Farooq's uncle had to say

I decided to pay a visit to the local Imam

Who, as Farooq informed me, was the driving force

Behind the idea of Muslim gaurakshaks in Ramgarh

According to Islam, we are allowed to rear cattle for their milk

But to be cruel and inhumane to them is not allowed

So is this why you started a cow protection unit?

According to state and national laws

We have recruited a team of young Muslims

And together with our Hindu brothers

We protect the cows

My name is Mohammed Ismail Khan

My name is Khurshid Ahmed

I am here to serve and protect cows

When we need people for roadblocks, we get our young boys to do it

We also talk about the issue during the sermons on Friday and during Eid

So that no individual from the community should indulge in these unlawful activities

And if someone chooses to

Before our Hindu brothers can accuse them

It is our responsibility to ensure that we prevent

such anti-social elements in our own community

But was this the only reason they chose to protect the cow?

A few antisocial elements are involved in cow smuggling

And there are both Hindus and Muslims who do this to earn a living

But the entire Muslim community is blamed

And the religion is blamed

So it is our duty to stop these cow smugglers

After meeting the Muslim gaurakshaks

One thing was clear

They did not like their community to be labelled as 'beef eaters' or 'cow killers'

And most people wanted a peaceful relationship with their neighbours

For whom the cow is sacred

This is why they decided to create a force to protect them

As an act of solidarity, perhaps tinged with some form of peer pressure

It was not only about saving cows, there was something more to it

To find out what that more was

I realized I had to explore further

On the outside, many groups of cow protectors pretend to save cows

But in reality, it's all about money

Behind the scenes, it's a different story

I just met Farooq, and now I'm going to meet Naval Kishore

He heads the Hindu gauraksha wing here in Ramgarh

We've seen almost all the cows in Ramgarh

But we haven't seen the guy who keeps them all entertained

Meet Ismail

Ismail is the gentleman who is the husband to all these cows

That's what Farooq told us

I'm just going to hang out with Ismail

His name is Ismail

Because he smiles a lot

And no prizes for guessing why

Because he gets all the action!

[TMT][346d] Giới thiệu cuốn sách Super Sentai Toy History 40! Phần 4: Lý giải! (Engsub) - Duration: 14:41.

Welcome back to Super Sentai Toy History 40 book review!

This time, we continue on the contents, Intermission, Designer comments.

About the details info of products.

There isn't enough time for all, we just show several ones.

Such as Wild Tousai King part.

The appearance of it, the paragraph said that:

"This is Doubutsu Dai Gattai of 13 Zyuoh Cubes,...

right arm holding Big King Sword to gain all Zyuman power for final attack."

About this toy product info was:

"Using Cube Rhinos for the body...

adding others to become arms, legs...

make it more impressive in huge size...

Beside, if considering the combantion without excess...

This was the largetest Sentai robot from 13 machines."

Same thing with Kyoryuger.

"Dx Kyoryujin was intergrated with collecting items, Zyudenchi...

So each combine had their own sounds.

By Kamitsuki gattai, sound system reached maximum making it attactive."

About Gekiranger.

"Jyuken Gattai GekiTouja is a combination of cat relatives.

This combine was simplified and became the basis for all gattai in series."

Then, we go for Intermission appendix.

There are 13 intermissions.

We'll list all but focus on new important parts.

First is the 00, the begining for Big Scale products.

This's popular after Battle Fever J, but existing from Goranger & JAQK.

It's bigger than Dx, pvc only, didn't have metal parts.

For example, there're Variblune Big Scale and Poppynica.

Beside the claw shooting, Big Scale had the same function of Poppynica.

Or Varidorin Big Scale, wings had to be pulled out by hand.

There was no button to activate like original.

With Sky Ace in JAQK.

The cockpit came along with action figures.

The transformation function was kept.

Next is the 01.

Special diorama playset and republishings.

Some products had base painting inside the box.

Player could use the box or take it out to play.

Those focused on the entertainment of toy.

Such as limited edition Chou DX Set Bioman Choudenshi DX Set.

With Big Scale Bio Dragon, Chogokin Biorobo, 5 Chogokin figures Bioman,

High Dash Bio Mach and vynil big painting base.

Changeman playset, open the box we can put machines in the base.

Or Boukenger's.

About Sentai Robot republishings.

Some products were republished as special way, limited edition.

They had Dai Denzin of Denziman republished for Chogokin Anniversary.

Also Battle Fever Robo.

Both were the most famous and popular that time so reproduced.

Beside, some reproduced in "Eien no Hero Series" toyline.

Meaning "The eternal Heroes" like Goggle V, Sun Vulcan, Dynaman.

Some came with "Godaikin" name for foreign countries.

Specially, on the 10th anniversary Super Sentai in Liveman.

All robots from BFJ to Galaxy Robo of Maskman were republished.

Then being awards in "point campaign" of Telebi-kun Magazine.

The 02 with many Dyna Robo editions.

The fisrt one had brown eyemask.

The name and copyright were decal on Dyna Mobile.

The sticker on the hips was orange.

In the 2nd, name and copyright were moulded on toy part.

The orange sticker was 3D reflective decal.

The stickers on the feet were changed too.

In the 3rd, eyemask was reflective orange, no more brown.

In the 4rth, the wheels were pvc, no more rubber.

In the 03-4-5-6-8-10-11...

were about another color ver of Sentai robot.

In the 07...

Legend Sentai Joint Gattai Series released on Gokaiger anniversary.

The 09 was Claw Ressha.

A special product from Telebi-kun.

The 12, a special racing line for Go-onger.

It's bonus for 2000 early 1st release customers buying Dx Engine-Oh.

We've already finished the product info.

The last part is the Designer comments.

Because of shorty video, my team only show several ones.

Earlier in the opening, the designer had some noted rules...

"First, Sentai robot which meaned the robots in the series...

had to have a closest design on the screen as well.

That meaned the toy design had to be calculated for robot suit actor.

Second, robot products had to focus on transformation and combination.

However, the designers had to understand those were for 3 ages.

Designer must respond for those 2 first before creating different functions.

Those're also 2 basic noted for robot design of Sentai.

It sounds easy...

But over 40 series with hundreds robots...

To keep them was more difficult than we thought.

The man designer 1st Sentai robot masterpiece in history, Murakami Katsuhi.

He's the contributor of 1st machines on early stage.

The development process of Sentai robot was as same as Super Robot.

From the basic action robot, Chogokin Mazinger Z.

Also designed by Murakami.

Until combination appeared such as Combattler V.

Murakami worked as Sentai robot designer up to Bioman.

After that he was designer leader until Goggle V.

He's also the founder of Plex, which often work on Toku products,

who gave important decisions affect final design of sentai.

Such as Zyuranger stage...

There're all new and old designers of Plex.

Daizyujin's developed from sample designs in the company.

But there's no idea about Mammoth or Sabertooth as main robots.

Instead of that were Brachio or Dimenotrodon.

Murakami's the one who sugguested Mammoth and Sabertooth.

Because "There was no difference for the mask with dino theme."

He always looked for diversity.

Gaoranger with animals opened the 21st century for Sentai.

On the occasion of this event, Plex decided to create 21 power animals.

After making this idea work.

Nonaka Tsuyoshi, design monitoring, found "Hyakujuu" aka "hundreds" for Gao.

Then, there're many series with animal theme.

So while idea planning...

Designers combined all the best part of sentai products.

To make Gaoranger that year success.

Beside the popular animals like lion...

There were advanced transformation, combination and new species.

In Go-onger, designers're asked for 12 combination at the end.

So there's a reversal in design processing.

Meaning each machine was made to be a part of final combine.

In particular, each already had joints for Engine Oh G12.

Vehicle with animal forms were chosen easily from the begining.

But they also thought about eyes on machines.

This idea started for new challenges.

However, they tested and found out it better with eyes.

At first, they just want eyes like decorating on plane, jet.

Then, Toei really want it for real.

The team tried to make it as much beatiful as they could.

Finished products had different characters that never happend before.

About Engine Soul, designers intergrated them from start for machines.

It wasn't easy to do.

Because of space caculating for Engine Soul.

Or how to place them that kids can regonize easily.

One more difficult happend in G12 project,

was that it had to look badass and great.

The team's received advises from Nonaka about this.

By the way, Bandai didn't want any excess parts.

Because of those, G12 project was an EXTREME challenge.

And Sentai Robot design was for 3 ages only..

So functions had to be simple.

Transformation and combination had to be easy to remember.

By hard teamwork,G12 project had been completed.

About Toqger design.

When train theme was agreed by all...

Takagi immediately decided train gonna be collecting items.

An important theme, because it based on real thing, kids saw everyday.

While planning, there was ideas "they must follow real trains".

Or "how to make kds regonize them immediately".

Those became general puzzles in the company.

Beside, designer wanted a combination...

Looked more train, by idea let them move parallel for combining.

While working and testing prototypes in front of Toei.

This idea had warmly welcome.

About outfit of Toq-Oh, while Takagi's making arm, thigh more details.

The manager and design leader said whether not follow cube shapes.

They're no trains anymore and losing their nature shapes.

With Zyuohger, designer got comments...

"At first, I designed cubes could tranform into real animals...

I'd actually made it.

But I thought they're transformed cubes...

If animals were not cubes, it wouldn't have any impressive.

With that idea, I designed again for cube animal.

It's not only cube with arms and legs to become an animal.

Each cube had to have different transform to animals.

While working, I was offered to simplified transform steps too.

Kind of by 1 or 2 steps to complete.

So the transform had both simple and impressive.

About the size...

I was offered to intergrate carving details on them by senior.

In short, this time was chance for brainstorming.

But this gonna be the only one sarified those offers.

So it's a real challenge.

About transformtion, I tested a lot.

But many cubes appeared, transformation would be more complex.

Such as more leg armor, turning or seperating them into pieces.

I met same problem while designing Gobuster-Oh.

That thing was very complex.

This time, I just need a touch to complete.

Both I and manager had the same thinking.

Then I thought why pull them up seriated 1-2-3.

I actually did 1-3-2 first and put Big King Sword in as well.

That's how I felt.

And Zyuoh King design.

You just could see it in Sentai.

If it's in other toyline, it never gonna be made.

Exactly, I didn't want people recognized that GB and Zyuoh were mine.

Talking about Sentai, people feel that it's basic of basic.

Be with it for long, you will see.

So there're questions: "How to create the design with basic rules".

There'll be limited in creating product...

So our work is how to make children interesting always.

how to create new product each year.

There had opinions "selling one same old thing is still fine".

Just like car toys, block toys were.

Inspite of new release, there is no new in playing function.

Of course, Sentai's just a same part in toy world.

But when you talk about Sentai.

We talk about character, personality first, and then toy.

Same personality like making characters die.

If we don't try something new, we don't respect ourself and customers.

I think this's why Sentai's different from others.

Of course, creation must had a limit.

how far we go...

Like mask design or mixing color are our concern.

It's Plex business of course.

We realize all of those.

So we still hope you'll support for us each year.

Finaly, this's the end of our SSTH 40 review.

By those clips, we hope you know more...

about formation and development of sentai toy history.

In history, designers never stop thinking...

Or run out of idea.

They always try their best for new products and ideas.

We hope you should respect their work for Super Sentai.

We will return for more interesting videos. Bye!
