EXERCISE AND THE BRAIN - THE MAGIC PILL - Duration: 4:24.

Imagine you are offered to give up 30 minutes of your morning time in exchange for free

a magic pill.

The pill improves your learning capability reduce your anxiety and stress improves your

mood and motivation and generally it makes you a better version of yourself for the rest

of the day.

So would you take that offer?

Well what I just described is the reason why you should exercise.

When you think of exercising the first things that comes to your mind are the benefits or

maybe losing weight or having a healthier heart.

But the real benefits of exercise happen in the brain.

So what is the brain for anyway?

You may think it's about solving math problems or creating a new smartphone app that will

make you are millionaire.

But neuroscientist Daniel Wolpert says that our brain is for one thing only: To produce

adaptable and complex movement. Thats it!

The Koala is a great example.

In the past it had a much bigger brain but once it adapted it's digestive system to

derive all the energy it needs from Eucalyptus leaves, it didn't had to move as much, less

movement meant less brain activity and its brain shrunk.

Studies has shown that there is a very powerful connection between the brain and movement.

A big brain is needed to facilitate complex movements, and executing such movements and

getting your heart rate up enhances your brain power.

Exercise has been shown to help people better deal with stress and anxiety, improved mood,

focus and motivation.

A 2007 study has shown that exercise also primes the brain to learn faster.

Subjects who did high intensity training beforehand were able to learn vocabulary 20% faster than

those who remained sedentary.

This phenomenon is due to a protein called Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor or BDNF

for short.

BDNF helps to support the survival of existing neurons, and encourages the growth and differentiation

of new neurons and synapses.

In the brain, it is active in the hippocampus, cortex, and basal forebrain—areas vital

to learning, memory, and higher thinking.

A 2013 study showed that only 20 to 40 minutes of aerobic exercise increased the BDNF in

the blood by around 32%.

So the reason why exercise is a key trigger for all kinds of positive effects in the brain,

particularly learning, is because movement signals to the brain that something important

is happening.

Maybe not in modern times, but in the past the reason to move was for the sake of survival.

You move to escape a predator, to find better shelter, hunt for food et cetera.

And while moving its in your best interest to remember the lay of the land so you don't

get lost and you can locate forageable food again.

When attacked by a predator you better remember which path was most efficient

to escape, so you can prevent yourself from becoming a tigers meal the next time.

When you are sitting on your couch watching television you signal your brain that nothing

important is happening and it's time for rest.

Exercise also affects the areas of the brain responsible for motivation and action.

The reward center is one of the most important areas in the brain.

Dopamine is a key player in the reward system.

From evolutionary perspective dopamine is released when we expect some kind of reward,

it makes us want to do stuff, and it reassures us that the thing we did was worth doing.

So if your reward center is not working properly, you might have hard time to get things done.

If your brain doesn't expect reward and fulfilment from something it won't justify

doing it.

There are pills that can help with this, but you don't have to buy any kind of drugs to

get your reward system going.

Studies show that exercise boost motivation by increasing dopamine storage and increasing

the creation of dopamine receptors in the reward center.

It might not make you stay up all night in a studying frenzy like adderall, but it will

give you more willpower and focus to do those little things that don't usually feel rewarding.

But even though your reward center might be working just fine, you are feeling great,

and you are satisfied with your ability to learn, you can still improve all of these

areas.

When you exercise you might not feel a drastic change all of a sudden, but later on you will

look back and notice the difference in learning speed, mood, focus and you will get more things

done.

Now that you know all the benefits of exercise, it's up to you whether or not you will take

the magic pill and improve your life or you will stay the same and get the same results

you've always had.

- [Adam] Hello art friends.

What're we doing today?

- So this week we have got some ba-ba-da-daah

they're called Doodle Scents.

- [Adam] Ooooh, oh they're Crayola ones, cool.

- Yeah but since we're Doodle Date we thought it'd be cool

to do a video with these cause they're Doodle Scents.

These were sent to us by Charlene,

she sent us quite a few things.

- [Adam] Thanks Charlene.

- So we should open these up.

- [Adam] Are we gonna do like a smell test first?

Like what's the deal with these?

- How many are there in this?

There's 18.

- [Adam] 18 whoa that's pretty cool whoa.

- [Stephanie] There're some really interesting

scents here guys.

So what I want us to do is like

first we should have a sniff at them all.

But then I want us to do a blind pick and pick one.

- [Adam] Just pick one okay.

- Yeah and then we have to theme a character

based around whatever that theme is.

- [Adam] Whatever one we pick ooohh.

- [Stephanie] So like for example we've got like

cotton candy, there's a root beer float. (laughs)

- [Adam] Oh I hope I don't get that one. (laughs)

- You had a root beer lollipop earlier.

- [Adam] And it tasted horrible.

You guys said that Dum Dums were amazing so I was like,

oh I'll try that one and it was awful!

(laughs)

- The really weird thing though right, it's called barnyard

but on the picture there's some hay by the elephant trunk.

Oh yeah, it smells like poo. (laughs)

- Oh that does smell like poo. - It smells like poo?

I hope you get that one. (laughs)

- Draw a pooper-ancestor.

- [Adam] Poo monster or something, yeah.

- Oh tropical punch, see I pick the nicer ones.

It doesn't have a strong scent but it smells nice.

Like Americans have a lot of - ooooh.

- like fruit punch at parties, don't they?

- [Adam] Yeah, that's quite subtle,

that's kinda like how the strawberry one was

but a lot less intense I think.

- The strawberry one was a sweeter smell I think.

Oh, I don't want a melon patch.

I hate watermelon.

Oh that actually smells, quite nice.

I wouldn't say it smells like watermelon,

otherwise I'd be really grossed out right now.

- [Adam] No again, that's really subtle isn't it?

I think barnyard's burnt all my nasal senses out. (laughs)

- Oooh buttered popcorn!

Oooh, yeah that smells like the cinemas.

- Oh does it? - Yeah.

- [Adam] Oh wow, that's incredible, yeah.

- That makes me wanna go watch a movie. (laughs)

- [Adam] That one smells just like

when you go see a movie somewhere yeah?

That's amazing.

I think that's the best one so far,

in terms of like smelling exactly how it's supposed to.

Wow that barnyard. (laughs)

Toasted marshmallow.

Yeah that one smells really...

really so much how it's supposed to smell too.

- [Stephanie] Yeah it does,

I was expecting it to taste like, taste like (laughs)

I didn't put it in my mouth! (laughs)

I was expecting it to smell like a bad marshmallow

because of the colour of it, but yeah it smells like one--

- These markers taste horrible.

Oh cotton candy.

Now, this might be me

but I don't think that smells of anything.

(laughs)

- [Stephanie] Oh, if it does have one, it's very subtle.

- You see what I mean?

I don't think it smells of like anything.

- [Stephanie] Do you think they forgot to scent this one?

(laughs)

- They were like, there's no way some kid

will smell them all, just send them one with no smell.

(laughs)

- [Stephanie] Just send them barnyard

and then you don't have to do the rest. (laughs)

- Put barnyard in all of them. (laughs)

Oh, I'd love it. (laughs)

Oh root beer, ugh.

I'm not looking forward to this after that Dum Dum.

I don't like it. (laughs)

Okay we're down to the last three.

- Caramel custard.

Yeah I can, that one's really subtle,

I don't know if they've flavoured that one.

- [Adam] Unless we've smelled like really intense ones

and now we've like-- - and you're like

we've lost our sense of smell.

- [Adam] Oh it's kinda there, yeah.

- Is it? - Very very subtle again.

- Oh very subtly I can smell the caramel now you've said it.

- [Adam] Or as you Americans say, caar-mel.

- Caar-mel.

Evergreen tree, this one will probably smell like those--

little car air fresheners. - Oh like a car air freshener.

- Whoa, I think I might've had that one as a kid

when I was younger - Really? Let's see.

- It has a very karela tree smell to it.

- [Adam] Oh wow yeah it does, doesn't it yeah?

- And then we've only got one left.

- [Adam] What's the last one?

- The last one is spice cake.

Oh, that definitely smells like a Christmas cake.

- Oh yeah it does, yeah. - Yeah.

- [Adam] So whichever one we pick,

we have to do a theme around that marker okay.

- Yeah it could be like an animal or a person or--

- [Adam] Or it could be anything, a monster-type thing okay.

- Anything but barnyard would be good,

I don't even care if it's green this time.

- [Adam] Come on barnyard! (laughs)

I need ya barnyard!

Okay!

- Where are they?

- [Adam] Up, up, up, up, there we go.

- You won't let go of it.

- [Adam] What did you get?

- Oh spice cake.

- [Adam] Oh okay, that's not so bad.

You really like drawing cakes and stuff.

- [Stephanie] Okay.

- You ready? - Pick one.

- Okay, whoa. (laughs)

oooh, hello.

- [Stephanie] Which one, did you get two?! (laughs)

- The one that I actually picked was tropical punch

so I gotta do something with this one.

- [Stephanie] You very almost had caramel custard.

- No. - It threw itself at you.

- I really wanted barnyard. (laughs)

- Did you? - Yeah.

- [Stephanie] How's your sketching process going?

- [Adam] Okay I think, I was getting kind of stuck

with tropical but then I thought,

oh there's all kinds of plants and flowers and stuff so--

- Yeah. - And parrots!

So I might try and draw a parrot somewhere.

- [Stephanie] Can you turn it 'round so we can have a look?

- [Adam] Oh yeah, there you go.

This is what I've got so far.

- [Stephanie] Awwww.

- [Adam] I like her hairdo.

- [Stephanie] Cause mine's meant to be

themed around a spice cake,

so I've got her holding a spice cake.

And I'll probably try to do a colour palette kinda like the--

- [Adam] Challenge complete, she's holding a spice cake.

- [Stephanie] Maybe some lacy frills on the bottom of this.

- [Adam] Is it spicy lace?

- [Stephanie] Well I was thinking cause

this is meant to be like a cream layer on top,

this might make look like cream at the bottom of her skirt.

- [Adam] Oh right, okay.

Look at those little legs.

- [Stephanie] I always struggle most with drawing like

feet for some reason, and legs.

- [Adam] Feet are hard though, feet and hands I mean geez.

Humans have so many like, wiggly appendages.

They're very hard to draw.

- [Stephanie] Oh, yours is looking really cute,

I like the birdie.

- You like the bird? - Yeah.

- [Adam] I can't think of a name.

That's obviously Trudy,

but if you guys can think of a cute name for a parrot.

- [Stephanie] I think we should let

the people in the comments decide.

- [Adam] Okay guys, you get to name the parrot.

- [Stephanie] And then Adam can pick

which one he likes best. - Okay.

Oh I'm excited, guys.

Gimme a really cool name.

I'm a little bit undecided as to whether

I should ink this one or leave it in pencil

cause I kinda like how it's looking in pencil

and we've been inking a lot lately

and I don't wanna ink anymore. (laughs)

- [Stephanie] Oh well you don't have to ink.

- Oh okay, am I allowed? - Yeah.

- [Adam] Am I allowed just to leave it in pencil?

- [Stephanie] You know I think we should

just stick to colouring with the colours that we picked.

- What, just the one?

- [Stephanie] Yeah and just turn it into

a one marker challenge. (laughs)

- What? You're just making this up now?

(laughs)

Thumbs up for impromptu challenges.

- [Stephanie] I don't even know what the colour is

I'm marking with, I haven't even swatched it.

- [Adam] Let's see what you're working with.

What color's that?

- [Stephanie] It's just like a brown, like a mid-tone brown.

- [Adam] This is my red.

That might help me in the parrot.

- [Stephanie] I really like this drawing as well,

I don't know whether I'm making a mistake in deciding

doing it in just one marker.

- [Adam] You're the one that suggested it! (laughs)

- [Adam] I like sneaking over and watching you ink.

Don't forget those spicy buns.

- [Stephanie] The spicy buns. (laughs)

Sometimes I can't even follow my own sketch lines

cause there's just so many.

- [Adam] Well I took the time to sketch it

but I ain't gonna follow it.

- [Stephanie] Oh are you going straight in

with your colour now then?

- [Adam] Yeah I'm gonna try.

Do like a little, maybe a flowery type-design.

- [Stephanie] Yeah, a pattern can be a good way

to break things up a bit

so it doesn't all look flatly coloured.

- [Adam] I always feel like I'll do a pencil sketch

that I'm quite proud of and I'm like,

oh that doesn't look so bad.

And then the challenge element comes into the video

and I'm like, oh no.

making your background and your character

sorta pop against each other. - Yeah.

So let's start with actually colouring in the spice cake.

and her clothes and everything.

- [Adam] It gets tough when you know you've only got one.

you can't sort of help it though you know?

- [Stephanie] I find Crayola pens best for

colouring in like small areas.

The smaller the area,

the flatter the lay you can get of the colour.

Oh I see you've done a lot of details in the background.

- [Adam] Yeah, and I need to shade them in.

So this is gonna be the longest Doodle Date on record

while I do all of these.

(laughs)

- [Stephanie] So you're kinda cross hatching those in then.

- [Adam] That's the plan yeah.

- [Stephanie] Okay I wanna have a go

at some of these techniques.

- [Adam] That's cool,

it kinda looks like a stripy shirt anyway now.

It works quite well.

- [Stephanie] I think her socks are gonna look quite frosted

with this kinda technique.

- [Adam] Oh you're doing the stippling thing.

hair with like different colours for it but--

We never like swatched all these colours before going in.

The Tournament of Power 2? - Dragon Ball Super - Duration: 5:24.

Initially the Universal Survival Arc was promoted as if we will have a 12 Universal Tournament,

and Goku was also expecting to fight the strongest from all the Universes.

I am pretty sure many of the promotional materials stated it's going to be an all Universal

Tournament, but now we here.

Recently it was revealed that the tournament will involve only 8 Universes.

For having higher mortality level, 4 Universes won't have to participate.

What we have on the table now, is a Battle Royal where 80 fighters from 8 different Universes

will fight for survival.

That battle has a limit, a time limit of 48 minutes.

After that the Universe with highest number of Survivors will be declared as the winner.

But, is it really going to be all?

Especially since they have already teased those 4 other Universes.

I don't see Goku resting without fighting them; he wanted to fight the strongest from

all the Universes not just 8.

The fact that their Gods has been shown, in a way confirms that we will get to see more

of those Universes sooner or later.

I can very clearly see another tournament including them.

It's not even a matter of 'if', it's a matter of 'when' and 'how'.

Also as they had at one point advertised that we will get to see all the Universes in action,

it would do justice for us the fans too.

There's 2 way to go about it instantly or sometimes in the future.

That is they can build up another tournament with those 4 Universes just after the end

of the Battle Royal or they can do it after 2-3 arcs of different stories.

If they want to do it instantly, then maybe it could be something like after winning the

Tournament of Power.

Goku requests Zeno to let them fight with the higher ranked Universes as they clearly

proved they deserve it.

Then, it could lead up to a 5 Universal Tournament, maybe they could start it giving them a short

break or Zeno could promise to hold it sometimes later.

Like, he did with this tournament and we had an arc in between.

Now, 5 Universal tournament would have a hard time setting up matches, so it would be better

if it was a 6 Universe Tournament.

Besides, Universe 11 looks like a strong Universe too, they have a lot of interesting fighters.

So, it would be perfect if both U7 and 11 got to fight with them.

How they could do it?

If they want to do it right after the Battle Royal maybe giving a week break only or something

like that.

They could directly connect those 4 Universes in this tournament.

About the battle royal, The Great Priest said the Universe with highest number of survivors

at the end of 48 minutes will win the tournament, but what if we get a complex ending?!

Let's say at the end of 48 minutes, Universe 7 and 11 have 2 survivors each.

What do we do in that case?

Most likely they would extend the time or let them fight in separate battles to decide

a winner.

I made a video about that titled ' Battle Royal Beyond 48 Minutes '. You can check

that out, link will be on the description, but in this video we are trying to make connection

with another tournament.

In that theory, The Great Priest could say something like that both Universe 11 and 7

have proved their worth surviving the entire battle, and this was not enough for any of

them to get eliminated.

That is the other 4 Universes were no match for him, Zeno was not satisfied by their one

sided dominance.

Thus, the tournament will continue after a 7 day break, this time involving those 4 other

higher ranked Universes.

In that case, they might want to finish the 48 minutes of Battle Royal swiftly.

The opening for this arc is named.

Limit Break x Survivor, maybe they are referring to breaking the time limit by the survivors

or something along that line.

Even though I like that idea of Goku breaking the limit or similar suggestions, this could

also be something to keep in mind.

If we try to think something Unique, it could be a conditional like let's say after the

Tournament.

Goku requests Zeno to not destroy other Universes, Zeno gives them a condition that if Universe

7 is able to win a tournament against the top 4 Universes.

He will spare the rest.

This could also create a way for Goku to gain the trust of those 7 other Universes who are

now against Universe7.

The Gods of Destruction except for Beerus even gathered to develop a scheme against

them.

So maybe Universe 7 will get the responsibility of other Universes on their shoulders, in

that way the next tournament would have even more significance, and Goku will once again

be known as the Good guy to everyone.

However, the specifics of how we will get to see those 4 Universes in action might not

be accurate, as these all are nothing but assumption, but we believe sooner or later

we will see them in action.

It's bound to happen.

So, let me introduce a workshop "Cobbleblade" and their knife "Nomad".

All their knives' are made by hands without any CNC machine production.

So, the model "Nomad". Frankly speeking the knife's design looks strange but let's take it in our hands and you will understand how handy and ergonomic handle of the knife.

It is really thoughtfully designed!!!

The knife is created for various tasks - EDC, tourism, hunting and fishing, and of course - the fight.
