Trump team brings tough talk to border

BY RAFAEL BERNAL

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly doubled down

on the Trump administration's approach to immigration enforcement and border security

in El Paso, Texas, on Thursday.

This is ground zero.

This is the front lines, and this is where we take our stand, Sessions said.

Sessions and Kelly in recent days have focused their agencies on immigration enforcement

as a public safety priority, highlighting the threats posed by drug cartels and multinational

gangs.

We will maintain our borders, we will enforce Congress duly enacted laws, and we will

protect our communities from the scourge of cartels and gangs, Sessions said Thursday.

Kelly touted the hiring of new immigration judges in the Trump administration as a means

to speed up the deportation process.

The dearth of immigration judges has long plagued the immigration justice system, creating

long backlogs and wait times with undocumented immigrants either in detention or temporarily

released without legal status.

People who illegally cross our borders do not respect the laws of our nation.

We want to get the law breakers off our streets, and out of the country, for the good of our

communities, said Kelly.

Democratic lawmakers criticized the focus on security, emphasizing the border region's

relatively low crime rate.

Some of us just roll our eyes when somebody comes in from Washington and talks about security

and they're missing part of the essence of border life, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas)

told The Hill.

I think they're missing part of what the border life is all about and part of the border

life is retail and commerce and trade and tourism with Mexico, he added.

There have also been concerns from local authorities that some immigrants, legal and undocumented,

might avoid reporting crimes, or that they are witnesses to crime, because of the administrations

tougher enforcement position.

In a statement before Thursdays visit, El Paso Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D) said he wanted

Kelly and Sessions to understand that our community's security the public safety

of El Paso depends on the full participation of everyone in the community in keeping us

safe.

Members of both parties from border states have offered criticism of Trumps proposal

to build a wall on the border, arguing it could have a devastating effect on the regions

economy.

El Paso's other congressman, Republican Will Hurd, in a statement before the visit, urged

the secretaries to re-think the viability of a border wall, President Trump's signature

campaign promise.

While Attorney General Sessions and Secretary Kelly visit the El Paso area, I am hopeful

that they will listen to the law enforcement agents on the ground and realize that a wall

from sea to shining sea will be the most expensive and least effective way to secure the border,

he said.

Border communities are disproportionately dependent on trade with Mexico for their economic

well-being, and also profit from Mexicans crossing the border to buy American goods

and services.

Under Trump, both legal and illegal crossings have plummeted, a sign that the administration's

dissuasive policies are working to curb illegal immigration, but also that Mexicans are less

willing to spend money in the United States.

Still, cross-border trade seems to have avoided a downturn, as Mexican manufactured products

have become relatively cheaper in the United States due to the peso's weakening against

the dollar, largely as a result of investors' caution after Trump's election.

Cuellar, who Thursday oversaw the start of construction for a cross-border cargo bridge

expansion in Laredo, said it is important to strike a balance between border trade and

border security.

Kelly and Sessions made no mention of trade or legal cross-border movement of goods and

people in their speeches, central issues for border communities.

My Favorite YouTube Channels (so far in 2017!) | @laurenfairwx - Duration: 5:31.

So in addition to making videos on

YouTube, I really like watching videos on

YouTube! and I know that there are a lot

of creators out there so it can be

really hard to kind of find content that

you love! somebody might be out there

making videos that are perfect for you

but you might not know what to search

for to find them. so i thought that i

would recommend some of the YouTube

creators that i've been especially

loving lately and maybe you'll find

someone you like give! me a thumbs up if

this is the kind of video that you'd

like to see more often and if you're new

here, don't forget to subscribe to join

my weird, creative, crafty little online

family. I make video blogs talking about

topics that I'm really enthusiastic

about, I make really cute DIY craft

tutorials, mostly sewing tutorials

because I love sewing! and sometimes I

make videos to document my travels. so

this list is in no particular order but I

thought I'd start off with somebody

who's very similar to me in the

enthusiasm department and that is Tessa

Netting! if you think I get excited about

stuff, you should see Tessa's videos. she

is a ball of fire and energy and I love

her. she makes so many videos about harry

potter, at the end of the year she does a

song parody about all the things that

happened during the year. her song from

2016 is from Hamilton. I highly

recommend it. she's just an all-around

sweetheart, she's so talented, and you

should definitely check out her videos

especially if you like mine. next up is

Rikki Poynter! I've been watching her for

a few years now and I love her content.

she's so funny and smart and honest and

I love her. she makes a lot of videos

about being deaf and I have learned so

much from her over the years. she's one

of the reasons why I started taking

captioning my videos much more seriously.

she's done a lot of work communicating

why that is such an important thing for

YouTube creators to do and I highly

recommend that you caption your videos.

she's also really into pokémon, as

am I, and I always love when she makes

pokemon-themed videos. so yes. Rikki

Poynter. highly recommended. next, it's

Akilah! Obviously. Akilah Hughes, she's

hilarious. I laugh so so much when I'm

watching her videos. she's absolutely

brilliant and recently, she even started

making more relaxed vlogs which are

filmed in a very artistic way and I

really really like them. They're

refreshing and they're a nice balance

between her more scripted comedy videos.

So then there's Andrew Huang. high five, Andrew! [high five sound]

Andrew is one of the most versatile,

creative musicians that I've ever seen. I

feel like he's best known for making

music out of items that you traditionally

wouldn't make music out. of he's really

good at making sponsored videos with

products integrated and he's so clever! I

don't even know how to explain to you

how great Andrew is except to tell you

that you need to go and just listen to

something that he's made. I haven't

mentioned this yet, I probably should, but

you can go into the video description

below for a list of links to all of these

channels that I'm mentioning. next up is

LBP! Lauren Dixon-Paver. she makes some

really adorable DIY tutorials and she

has a ton of tutorials on really cute

plushies. I know that a lot of you like

plushies like I do so you should

definitely check out her channel. so the

next one is Free Dad Videos. I found out

about this channel through my friend

Josh who actually knows Matt who makes

Free Dad Videos. funny story, my husband's

name is Matt so we're "Lauren and Matt"

and Josh always talks about "the other

Lauren and Matt" and eventually Josh told

me that "the other Matt" who is married

to "the other Lauren" actually also has a

youtube channel. so, weird. small world. but

Matt makes really funny and really well

produced skits starring his kids and

they are great! they're really into video

games and Star Wars and just, my

nerdy parent heart is so happy whenever

i watch their videos. They've also been

doing some really cute music videos

lately. I tried to pick channels that go

across lots of different genres for this

list, so this next one is a beauty

channel called freshblush! her name is

Erin and she has so much personality. she

does amazing everyday makeup looks as

well as really dramatic costume makeup

that is just gorgeous and I really like

listening to what she has to say. her

voiceovers aren't just about what she's

doing as far as the makeup goes, she

incorporates a lot of really interesting

conversation into her videos and I

really like that about her! the next one

is a booktuber that I just recently

found out about and I've been going

through and watching a bunch of her old

videos and I just think they're great.

her name is Ariel Bissett and she's

really fun to watch! she has a great

on-screen personality and she's so

enthusiastic and passionate about

everything she's talking about. she also

makes zines and so she's done a lot of

really cool DIY videos on how to make

zines, how to carve your own rubber

stamp, and she's just great. and I have

one more to recommend

and her channel is called with

Wendy. she makes and designs her own

clothes and she does some really great

not intimidating, approachable sewing

tutorials. she has a lot of videos on how

to alter existing clothes and also how

to make clothes from scratch. and making

clothes is a project that's been very

intimidating for me for whatever reason.

I sew pretty much every day of my life

but I make accessories and plush toys

and I am just for whatever reason really

scared to make clothing. and watching her

videos is really making me want to at

least give it a try, even if I screw it

up, the least I can do is attempt to do

it. so if you've been thinking about

learning how to sew clothes, definitely

check out her channel. so those are all

of the recommendations that I have for

you today! in the comments below, I would

love if you could recommend some of your

favorite youtubers! I'm always looking

for new people to watch, especially DIY

tutorials and creative video blogs.

there are just so many people doing such

great work out here and I just want more

people to see it! read the video

description below for a list of links to

all of these amazing channels. thanks for

watching and I'll see you soon!

Need is a bad word And a bad message when communicating

Because if on you Will be written on you

This is bad.

Apple Wins Free Speech Award After China Censorship | China Uncensored - Duration: 8:09.

On this episode of China Uncensored:

Apple: the company known for giving users

loads of choices and freedom

to use their products however they want—

just broke my irony meter.

Hi, welcome to China Uncensored.

I'm your host Chris Chappell.

Boy folks,

what a month it's been!

China Uncensored launched a brand new website,

thanks in part to the Youtube adpocalypse…

...and we launched on Roku, Amazon Fire TV,

and last but definitely least,

Apple TV.

It was a shock when we received

a notice from Apple saying they removed

the China Uncensored App from Hong Kong

and Taiwan.

Apparently because the show is illegal there?

Strange that I don't remember

narrowly escaping prison

when we went to Hong Kong and Taiwan last year

and met with multiple government officials.

I wrote to Apple CEO Tim Cook

at the beginning of the month

asking for an explanation,

and a demand to put the China Uncensored app

on the app stores there.

And we started a petition!

Which I'm sure everyone watching this

has signed.

Because you're all good people.

Tim Cook has not yet responded to my letter.

And I couldn't figure out why.

But now I think I've got my answer!

He's been too busy

winning the Free Speech Award

from the Newseum in Washington DC.

The Newseum,

besides being the all-time winner

of the punniest museum name,

also "promotes, explains and defends free expression

and the five freedoms of the First Amendment."

Which sounds great.

And they have some pretty cool exhibits.

Like an entire section of the Berlin Wall

with an East German guard tower.

And a memorial dedicated to journalists

who have died reporting the news.

And a permanent exhibit on...

the First Dogs?

Okay...

Uh, back to the Free Expression awards.

The awards honor people who

"have taken personal or professional risks

in sharing critical information with the public,

have been censored or punished by authorities

or other groups for their work,

or have pushed boundaries in artistic

and media expression."

That's why Playboy founder Hugh Hefner

also won a Free Expression award.

I'm sure he got it just for the articles.

Tim Cook gave the longest

victory speech of the night.

According to Apple Insider,

he spoke of the importance

of freedom of speech,

"Not just the forms of speech

that entertain us,

but the ones that challenge us.

The ones that unnerve

and even displease us."

Wise words, Mr. Cook.

I totally agree.

In praise of Tim Cook,

Newseum made this video.

"We believe that a company that has values

can really change the world.

I think it's really important that

corporate leaders like Tim

care about principles like freedom of expression

and the advancement of human rights.

He takes risk at both a personal and a professional level

to engage in new ideas.

It's not just about making money,

it's also about making a difference

in the world."

Yes, Apple:

making a difference in the world.

By doing things like being the Platinum Sponsor

of the 2017 Free Expression Awards.

I'm sure Tim Cook winning one of those very awards

was a complete coincidence.

It's just like the time I won

the Best Host of a China-focused Comedy News Show

Not Based in China award.

Right after I gave the hosting organization

two million dollars.

But let's talk about what Apple is doing in China.

You see,

while Tim Cook was being honored

for his commitment to free speech,

Apple has been doing everything it can to help

the Chinese Communist Party censor.

For example,

when the Chinese government asked Apple

to remove the New York Times

from the app store in China...

...along with a bunch of other

independent Chinese media...

...and an app that lets Chinese internet users

break through the Chinese Communist Party's

Draconian Internet censorship firewall...

...plus of course China Uncensored...

they did it.

Because as Apple said,

"the content was 'illegal' in China."

Sure, last year Apple told the FBI

they wouldn't help in a terrorism investigation

for privacy and security reasons,

but that was the FBI!

The worst Apple could have faced

was probably a big fine.

But the Chinese Communist Party

could literally bring down

all of Apple's operations in China

tomorrow, for any reason at all.

Even when they bend over backwards

to kowtow to the Party.

Which just shows that they don't know

anything about kowtowing.

It's just like how one day,

the Chinese government offices

decided to ban Windows 8

and replace it with a Chinese knockoff—

and there was nothing Microsoft

could do about it.

The Chinese Communist Party's

arbitrary, highly politicized control of the government

and the judicial system

strikes fear into the hearts of

every company operating in China.

So I understand why Apple is concerned.

They don't just make iPhones in China.

China is also the world's biggest consumer of iPhones.

I mean, the Communist Party

could just ban the sales of iPhones tomorrow

in the entire country.

I know it sounds crazy,

but it briefly happened in Beijing last year.

So Apple is facing a real threat

to its bottom line in China.

But at least by being so morally flexible,

and doing what the Chinese government tells them,

Apple has had smooth sailing in China.

Just kidding!

At every step of the way,

the Chinese regime has still made things

as difficult as possible.

In 2012,

Apple had to pay 60 million to a Chinese company

to get the rights to the name iPad in China,

because Chinese courts

wouldn't grant Apple the trademark.

And in 2013,

CEO Tim Cook was forced to issue a humiliating public apology

to Chinese consumers

after Chinese state-media

launched a largely false campaign

to smear Apple's customer service reputation.

Then in 2016,

Chinese authorities shut down the iBooks store

and iTunes movies just a few months

after Apple launched them in China.

Plus the whole iPhone6 ban

I mentioned earlier.

And just this month,

Chinese authorities summoned Apple to court

over its app store.

So, I guess Apple has learned a lesson

from being the victim of arbitrary,

unfair actions by the Communist Party.

And that lesson is:

That's how Apple ought to treat everyone else!

So I'm not super surprised that Apple TV

banned China Uncensored in China.

Though I am surprised they banned our app

in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Unless that's just some more of that

backwards kowtowing on the One-China policy.

But you know what?

I say, if Tim Cook is willing to accept the

Newseum's Free Speech Award,

he should accept the responsibility it implies.

Mr. Cook:

Put your money where your mouth is

and make Apple stop removing media apps

from your app stores in Hong Kong and Taiwan,

as well as in mainland China.

Because remember,

"It's not just about making money,

it's also about making a difference in the world."

So what do you think Apple should do

to make a difference in the world?

Leave your comments below.

And to further encourage Tim Cook and Apple

to make the right decision,

click the link below to sign our petition

to get the China Uncensored app back in the Hong Kong

and Taiwan app stores.

Thanks for watching this episode of China Uncensored.

Once again I'm your host Chris Chappell,

see you next time.

Intelligence – Why it is Not Understood and What is it Really - Duration: 11:20.

Intelligence

Why

it is Not Understood and What is it Really

Like me, youve surely heard it at some time in your life how somebody has been regarded

as intelligent with comments like: He she must have a high IQ However, to describe

intelligence as IQ (intelligence quotient) is like telling a troglodyte i.e. someone

whos never seen a house before that a house is a kitchen!

Granted, a kitchen is of course included in the makeup of a house, but as IQ is to intelligence

it is only part of the whole picture.

Since IQ is an inadequate way of describing intelligence its no wonder that the IQ

test has been criticised.

It is biased towards middle/upper class westernised left-brained individuals while greatly lacking

consideration to creativity, assessment of well-rounded character and practical everyday

handling of things.

In light of this it may not come as a surprise that IQ doesnt always reflect how successful

someone will be in life.

The reason for IQ and its test (American school SAT no different) getting so many acceptances

has much to do with the global ruling elite controlling the planet and their education

agenda for the masses.

As I have explained in message #5 The Education System Deception the ruling elite only

want you to fit into their corporate based compulsory standardised education system which

serves to indoctrinate and control.

This is the reason for this purposely limited intelligence paradigm, IQ, and it has served

them well.

IQ and the ego trip

For some, IQ is a kind of status symbol.

Those scoring quite significantly over 100 are considered incredibly bright, which is

why some people spend so much time and money on intelligence questions to boost their IQ

score.

There are websites that will train you to boost your IQ to a high score for a fee with

a certificate at the end of it.

Its done by memory, methodology and technique: Look at me everybody Ive got an IQ of

148.Yes, folks, intelligence can be bought.

Yet another example of ego, pea-brained behaviour.

Anyone who focuses their attention and intention on something will inevitably develop, no matter

what it is, but it would be quite stupid to think that in the above circumstance a person

has become more intelligent. Secondly, any IQ over 145 is untrustworthy due to the

nature of the test scoring and the higher it gets the more speculative it becomes.

Dont fall for the IQ intelligence myth, hype and speculation.

For example, when famous chess players and scientists are said to have IQs of 180

or over

The warehouse analogy

Another myth about intelligence, which amuses me, is the false belief that intelligence

is related to how many facts a person knows.

Just because someone is a hot contender for winning a quiz with a head bulging full of

facts doesnt necessarily mean that he she is incredibly intelligent.

How come?

It cannot be said that someone like this has a great capacity for learning because this

person may have just spent endless hours cramming and storing these meaningless facts into their

small warehouse brain

Intelligence The Big picture and the 4 bodies

So what is intelligence?

To answer this it is necessary to look at the 4 bodies that make up our existence as

living beings, which are the: 1) Physical, 2) Mental, 3) Emotional and 4) Soul bodies.

Intelligence comes from the effects of 1 or a combination of these 4 bodies that interplay

during response to everyday life handling.

The following describes the 4 bodies and their respective intelligences.

1 and 2 are well known, but the 3 and 4 are not familiar with many people and may be regarded

by some as the most interesting.

1.

Physical body and flow of cognitive intelligence

For a normal physical body to function well and be beneficial to cognitive intelligence,

good diet, exercise and avoidance of toxins is essential.

2.

Mental body and IQ

As already disused IQ is a valid construct but needs to be approached from a much broader

perspective.

Frankly, the idea of giving intelligence an arbitrary figure is rather silly: The IQ test

is biased.

In effect, it is designed by academia for academia.

For example, a Professor may have a high IQ like other affluent middle class University

academics, but what would these guys be like in areas outside of their intellectual bents?

How would they respond to intelligence tests designed not by academia, but say, handymen,

farmers or Amazonian tribesmen..?

Might some be ranked as idiots?

IQ needs to have greater resilience, ableness to measure adaptability, be both cultural

and class fair.

Howard Gardeners theory of multiple intelligences certainly has much practical value and is

regarded by some as a step in the right direction.

If these changes were made, IQ, in spite of its validity, would still fall short of truly

assessing intelligence because with this alone the big picture is incomplete; there are 2

other greatly influencing factors needed to be taken into consideration:

3.

Emotional body and emotional intelligence

The emotional body is the emotions we carry from the effects of all our conscious and

unconscious memories and experiences.

Emotional intelligence focuses on how we respond to things in everyday life through our emotions

and other peoples emotions.

How would you do in certain circumstances?

Would your emotions help you to develop flair, deal effectively with things, nurture relationships

find solutions etc or would they shrink you into fear, a lack of confidence or self-judgement?

You can see how our emotional body is such an important factor in the big picture related

to intelligence.

Another area or offshoot of this is social intelligence.

For example, a doctor may be great at making diagnoses and say calculating drug doses (rational

left brain IQ, mental body intelligence), but greatly lack social skills and etiquette

when dealing with patients (lacking social intelligence)

4.

Soul body and spiritual intelligence

This is who we are in spirit not physical form.

The soul body has an awareness of self.

This is not from the point of view of ego self with all those superficial or largely

false identities such as position in society, financial status, clothes worn, race, gender

and colour which could lead to the creation of insecurity, unhappiness and anger but

an awareness of a spiritual self which emanates enthusiasm, joy, peace and love

Spiritual intelligence therefore operates on this level with a sense of appropriateness,

respect for others and ethical behaviour.

The soul body thinks and sees from the heart. Unlike the ego regarding others

in the way of whats in it for me? the soul body focuses instead on how may

I help you? The soul body also reflects spiritual intelligence in terms of playfulness

and creativity.

Finally

Still wondering what intelligence really is?

At least the 4 bodies and their implications help to explain intelligence far better than

IQ alone.

It could be said that intelligence is an adjective. This means that there are no such people as

stupid or brilliant people: People are only momentarily brilliant or, in contrast, only

momentarily stupid.

As individuals weve all had our moments of brilliance and stupidity but for most part

we exist somewhere in between: No one is either one of these 2 extremes all the time.

There are those who have whats called an imbalance of intelligence. The psychopath

for instance has an imbalance of intelligence. He may be clever, calculating and rational

(high on rational left brain IQ, mental body intelligence) but seriously lacking in spiritual

intelligence (without ethics and a conscience).

Perhaps the goal for our own personal development would be to achieve an all-rounded balance

with

the 4 bodies and their respective intelligences.

Fausts Alptraum - Part 17 - BEST DAY AT THE BEACH...(English gameplay) - Duration: 30:51.

Hello everybody! Whitemouse is in the house!

And welcome back to the world of Fausts Alptraum!

Now, I have noticed 1 odd thing about

the story of Pinocchio

that, the carpenter created 2 dolls

but in the end, the fairy only loved and adopted 1 of the dolls

could be Pinocchio

and this is what I want to find out in this episode

Why?

and what happened to the other doll

because it seems that, this time the story

directly relates to Elisabeth and the girl that looks like her

now, since Mr.Cat no longer with us

I can do whatever I want with this

ok, I drew...

it seems I drew

the door become open in the infirmary

no not this one

nono, the middle room, sorry

yes, I can enter it now

so why did the cat try to stop me

nothing?

nothing?

uh oh

what the f*ck??

what is this??

is this

it seems like one of the...

one of the pig

ok, is that supposed to happen?

ok...

I remember clearly that there was no blood

on the bed

the first time I came in

HAH!!!

he's gone

anything around?

oh, a small chest

a note

ok, let's see the other stuff first before...

seeing the note

nothing?

ok, that's depressing

what is this?

Products?

so Elisabeth did live here before

but she doesn't remember

ok...what is this?

seems like teddy bears

one without face, one without nose

and one without eyes

creepy as f*ck...

so, this is the 5 numbers that I need to input in the

chest inside the workshop?

so I need to find out

how to put the...patients?

into their beds

and this will be the structure

hey guys, I found another piece of the diary

thought I would read it for you guys

No...bad mices

is something changed around here?

no

ok, I'm completely stuck here

I only know that "lugner" means "liar"in Germany

but...

I have no other clue so I had to look it up and...

well, forgive me please

here, a metallic key

nonononono

hidehidehide

that is the 3 little pigs

it's like...where I supposed to hide?

on the right? on the left? I don't know

let's see how things turn out 1st

jesus...

ok, not this spot then

so I got a metallic

a tightly shut eye is on the key handle

ok, I know

eat the chocolate again

and the tightly shut eye...

yes, I remember, for Siebel's room

let's go there

so...where is that room

ok, through the gallery, 3rd floor

and the gallery is way back here, there! ok

tightly shut eye...

what is this?

all 3 of them?

the same?

I got the swimming tube

uh...no it's not

is that the shark

it's gonna eat the liar?

ok, got the chocolate

what is this?

ummm...what???

ok...some names of the books

what is this?

omg...

umm...ok, forgive me for this guys, too many "orientation"

it seems this is some files for researches

now it becomes a rose

now I need a new key

where is the key I need

well...let's just go outside and see if there is any clue about this

egf...blah blah blah...omg this puzzle will kil...

me...

it's that girl again

wait...there is no reflection?

oh there is

oh, she is sitting on the floor

just like that

nothing change around here?

wow...ok, so this picture has many names

don't know what that means though

nope, nothing in here either

wow...what is this?

okokok, so, I did try...have to input from 0 to 99

and I skipped that part, sorry

and I entered this room

and also buried the gold coin

under the tree

inside the room and I got this

now what is this?

a?

that's like many!

ok...save the game

oh my god! my inventory also...

oh no...

I got this mask so...what is this for?

wow...

and the picture here finally reveal itself

ok...this game though

where did that girl go?

anything change in this room after I got...

wow...ok

and I can't interact with anything in this room anymore

nothing inside these 2 boxes either

ok, let's get out of here

this picture changed too, wtf??

and of course this also changed

ow...

it is the same face that appeared inside the garden before

so weird

ah okokok, I get this x2

ok, who could've think of this? I'm inside a house

why do I have to wear a tube?

uhhh...

ok, to te beachhhh~~. What is this?

ah ha! the third piece of Pinocchio's tale

here we go!

that's it? ohohohohoh!!!

I can't move!

Don't eat me!!!

I am the liar here?

ok...is it me or this face get sinister? (just me :P)

a glas...

and 1 more piece

that...doesn't look good

ok, anything?

no, just a mirror

same...

also...

nothing either

ok, so this is the sanatorium before it is renovated

right?

1st floor

2nd floor and 3rd floor

but all the room turn out to become

a mirror after I open the door

ok...this is the 3rd floor, right?

ok, gotta save the game

there is still another floor?

ah right, we have to count the basement too

no...another puzzle

what...ah, no, thank god

wait what...hey hey hey hey!!!

what is this sound?

sounds like some kind of water is

being sucked up

oh no...not another one!

ok, I'm not touching him...ok

wawawawa!! what is that?

uhhh what the hell??

how did he...

ah right I...

I am not supposed to touch the water

because it will make sound so he can notice where I am

I'm such an idiot

ok, I got the eye now but what can I do with it?

this is the 2nd floor right?

now to 3rd

all the pictures here changed?

yes, all the picture here changed

god...why

nope, still the same

hard to escape this unscatted huh

I have no clue toward those 5 leters though

if I can't solve it then I won't be able to access

the next key

but what can I do about it...

oh god...

ok, so ehfab are the 1st letter of the 5 children's names that

are assigned bed inside the infirmary

so after we successfuly assigned them

and thing and stuff

then we will have

this as the result

how do I do it? oh god, I won't be able to tell you

well, too long~

what?

so the liar is Siebel huh

what did he lie

now...the key, slightly open eye

was on the key handle

yes, it is in the teddy room

here, in here

chess?

yep, Siebel is the liar

I can only move this huh

what am I supposed to do?

cause a checkmate?

no, I get this I get this, I have to

put this in a place where

it won't be able to be eaten by other chess pieces

ok, I got the place

hehe~~

teeth...oh god

so I supposed to wear it?

no thank god

so who do I give this to?

to make sure that they will not eat me?

ah!!! yes! I think I remember

not sure I want to remember, I have a theory but...

well, let's try it

no

ah, ok ok ok, here here here

here, I got this I got this

oh god no...

well, an eye is enough for you, ok?

ok, I have to give you 2, ok ok

god...1 small, 1 big eye, look so horror

and the mask

hihi, he is smiling~~

so creepy~~

ok, what is the last instruction?

so there is no rare treasure inside

haha

then what is inside

some thing here? anything? no

why is this room look so...

From Bihar to Bangalore 1/8 - The Holy Water - Duration: 50:08.

from Bihar to Bangalore

a journey through India

land of cows & call centres

from Varanasi

Episode 1 The Holy Water

He who hasn't seen the river Ganges, hasn't seen India.

To Hindus, the Ganges is the source of life.

And when you die, the river takes you back again.

If you're lucky, you'll be cremated on its banks.

If you don't have the money, at least your ashes will be scattered in the river.

On every train you'll find a family with the urn of an aunt or grandma...

heading for one of the cities along the Ganges.

I never know what to make of such spiritual places.

I mean, I already feel ill at ease in a church.

Hello.

I was given the business card of BP Unyal, astrologist and former scientist.

So I trust him to be able to give scientific advice about my aura.

But I have to wait my turn.

What is that? -This is Ganga water.

Can you show it? Why did you take it?

We do puja with this.

Take it like this. -Just drop it?

It purifies the body.

It comes from the epicentre of the earth, from Mt Kailash.

And it emerges in Gangotri. -Thank you so much.

Scientifically it is believed...

that it contains some bacteria which eat other bacteria.

So it contains bacteria...

So there's no growth of bacteria in the water of the Ganges.

That's why we believe... -So, aura...

Aura...

So this is your instrument to read my aura.

It's an ordinary magnifying glass. -Sit down and concentrate on this part.

Then I will tell you. -Sit like this?

Like this. No, face towards mine, then I'll read you your aura.

Close your eyes and concentrate, then I will tell you regarding this.

Health wise, you will have a good health.

And approximately, if you lead a good, disciplined life, you'll live about 87 yrs.

87?

And regarding money, property, you will have good money...

good properties, assets, like an apartment, a house.

In coming time, you will not face any shortage...

or any acute shortage of money within your life.

Near the age of 35 you'll have a new relationship.

And you'll also get married, maybe.

If you could give a short answer. We just started a series about India.

We just started travelling. What's your feeling about our work here in India?

We'll be making a series. How will the series be?

This work too will be fruitful for you. You will gain some knowledge.

You will...

This work will be appreciated by the people who will see your work in India.

Thank you so much. -This chakra is very good.

First seat of mind, second seat of mind, third seat of mind. Very good.

How much is it? -Let me see. 700.

Do you have 300 back?

Each year, the people of Varanasi honour their god Shiva with a festival.

Shiva is not only the god of creation, but also of destruction.

Rather funny, considering that there are over 300 million gods in Hinduism.

Are you from Varanasi? -Yes.

Can you tell me what's going on today?

This is the wedding day of Shiva and Parvati.

Today we celebrate the marriage of these two gods.

Just as with our own marriages, today we celebrate their wedding anniversary.

There's a temple over there. That's where the procession will begin.

From there it will pass through the entire city.

Tonight a large wedding procession for Shiva will leave from the main road.

It's sacred ash.

If you're truly devoted to Shiva, you rub sacred ash on your body.

This city is the city of Shiva.

Everyone here who is devoted to Shiva rubs sacred ash on his body.

And Shiva is here? -Yes.

Where? -Everywhere. But you don't see him.

Is Shiva also in this tea? -Yes.

Shiva is in this tea, in you and also in me.

Shiva is in him, in everyone. Shiva is present in everything.

You will find him in every stone in Varanasi.

That's how we say it. Shiva is present in every stone in this city.

It's a question of belief. If you believe, you can see Shiva.

Only then can you see Shiva. Otherwise it's just tea.

It's not that simple for you to learn and know about Hinduism.

I know, but I'm trying. -Yes, that's what I mean.

All these people are half-knowledgeable.

So that's the type of message or what you can learn from them.

I'll tell you one more thing.

Islam, Jain and Christianity, all these are religions.

Whereas Hinduism is not a religion, it's a way of living.

Don't go in depth. -Because I'll never understand.

oh, my heart love Lord Shiva

love Lord Shiva

love Lord Shiva

Shiva is so powerful. Even the most powerful warriors and spirits fear him.

Ghosts and spirits serve him. The Ganges sprang from his locks.

The Ganges flows from his locks to the Himalayas.

It flows to the Himalayas, around the world and back to the Himalayas.

How important is the river Ganges to you?

When you bathe in the Ganges you will be cleansed.

All your sins will be washed away. It's a spiritual thing.

In your next life you'll be a good person.

You become blessed and you'll be a good person.

Do you also drink from the river?

Yes, we drink the water from the river.

Can you play something on this instrument?

Play something.

Can you play music?

It's not dangerous?

Dangerous. -Dangerous? Okay.

A half-chewed snake is a bit too much...

but the best way to get to know a country is to jump in at the deep end...

as I learned in Russia. If you resist too much, you won't get anywhere.

What's that? -Marihuana drink.

Marihuana?

We're at an ashram where a lot of men live...

who left their earthly life and their family and children behind...

and actually came here to die.

I'm really anxious to hear what drives these men to come to this place.

Hello. I'm looking for Swami Ishwaranand.

Why did you leave your home? -Well, it's like this.

My sons live in Madhya Pradesh.

I came to Varanasi to pray to God.

Then I left my home and now I live here.

How long have you been living here? -Six years.

A ritual is performed to take the vow of celibacy.

The ritual lasts for three days.

After those three days we become hermits.

Then the guru gives us the prayer stick and we become mendicants.

I'm 70 years old. I'm here to find deliverance.

I'll stay here till I die. I'll never leave this place again.

I'll stay here till I die, then I'll find deliverance.

I'm happy here. My family is very happy.

My loved ones don't feel unhappy.

When someone dies, his soul goes to Brahma.

Once he's there, he'll never come back again.

He'll be considered dead.

When that happens, he's brought to the site of cremation.

There he's cremated. The soul leaves the body and goes up to heaven.

Once there, he has to explain how he got there.

Then the last ritual takes place and it's concluded that there's nothing left.

Karma.

Swami, aren't you afraid to die? -I'm not afraid.

If I have to die today, it's fine.

They say it's better to die without loved ones around.

My life will be blessed when birds feed off my flesh.

When I came here, I didn't want my family ever to come visit me.

When I die, the sacred men will submerge me in the Ganges.

The fish will eat from my body.

The animals will have something to eat. Then I'll be blessed.

Can I see the prayer stick? -Yes.

Where is it? -I have it with me.

Swami, where's the prayer stick? -Here.

Why is it packed?

330 million gods and goddesses dwell inside it.

The mantras of all 330 million divinities are stored inside.

All of them? -Yes.

When you sing to the gods, all misapprehensions disappear.

When that happens, you realize that nothing or no one accompanies you.

Then you can start doing good deeds. That means...

You are one, alone?

Yes, I'm alone. That's what I meant to say.

The Ganges is our mother. She protects everybody.

After a bath in the Ganges you'll be free of all your sins.

After the bath we ask her to wash all our sins away.

After that...

We're here in Varanasi because of the power of the Ganges.

And we worship Lord Shiva.

When my life on earth is over, I'll go to heaven.

What are you doing? Let me pray. -One moment.

Life is predestined. You have no control over it.

It's as if free will doesn't exist. Somehow that's also comforting.

I've often been envious of the carefree nature of the Indian people.

There's no point in fretting or worrying, you can't influence life anyway.

It's as if life is a film and you're just playing a part.

You just went into the river? -Yes.

That's our faith. The faith in Mother Ganga.

How often do you go bathing? Once a year, two times a year?

This is the third time. The third time I come here.

You don't worry about the quality of the river, the water quality?

Water quality? Quality of water?

The quality of water is not as good as it should be.

But it's a matter of faith for me.

My father and mother also came here. But they are no longer alive.

They died in Pratapgarh.

Did you bring the ashes to the river? -Yes, on the bank of the Ganga River.

If we die, we go to heaven, to the other world.

hail Shiva

hail Shiva

I was watching the cremation from a distance.

It seemed the proper thing to do.

You don't see tourists with cameras at Dutch funerals either.

But one of the men at the pyre signalled to me.

He asked me where I was from and what I thought of India.

As if that whole cremation wasn't going on.

I asked him who was on the pyre.

My grandfather, he answered. He didn't sound sad.

Being cremated in Varanasi means not coming back to this world again.

His grandfather had finally reached Nirvana.

During the final stage of dying...

your soul leaves the body and you become one with the Lord.

Then a last rite is performed so that the soul can rest in peace.

The body perishes, but the soul lives on and becomes one with the Lord.

It becomes the ultimate power. The body was only a kind of coat.

And for that coat we perform this last rite.

We decorate the bier. Death is a certainty.

Death is something beautiful. Where there's life, there will be death.

Only gods never die.

Once life is formed in the belly of the mother...

death is inevitable. The body, the coat goes to waste...

but the soul becomes one with the Lord and is blessed.

It becomes one with Rama and Shiva.

That's why death in Varanasi is so beautiful. Nobody cries here.

Everybody smiles happily...

because an older relative becomes a saint...

after singing a mantra making him the god of the house.

They will praise him profusely. We can't describe our faith.

That's why death in Varanasi is so beautiful.

Excuse me, can you show us the room?

Of course. The rooms are the same downstairs and upstairs.

Downstairs? -They're the same as upstairs.

We have twelve rooms.

Come in. -Hello.

She's his wife.

This is that man's wife.

He's her husband.

That's their daughter-in-law.

Excuse me, where are you from? -We're from Bihar.

From Champaran? -No, from Sasaram.

He who dies here, will never say 'ouch'.

Only those who die outside Varanasi do so.

No one here says: Ouch, this hurts or that hurts.

To find deliverance, peace and silence are required.

I've brought her here with joy, not with sadness.

When at the hospital they said there was nothing they could do...

we brought her here so she can find deliverance.

If she recovers, I'll take her home. If not, she can die here.

She's being treated with Ganga water. -She drinks very little.

She's drinking water. -Yes, she's started to drink water.

At first she wouldn't drink at all.

Thank you very much.

This morning I stepped out on my balcony overlooking the Ganges.

A monkey took a shit here last night, but my chair had already been cleaned.

I sat down and looked out over the river.

Not far from me a hand floated by, the lower arm still attached.

The fingers were clenched into a fist.

A fisherman pulled in his catch, someone was washing clothes.

400 million Indians live along the banks of the Ganges.

No wonder the water is so dirty.

Near Varanasi it contains 100 times the safe amount of faecal bacteria.

Let's have a look at the actual river itself. Mother Ganga.

So regularly your university takes samples.

Yes, Varanasi University regularly collects samples.

We analyse the water quality and then we report to the government.

Here, exclusively in Varanasi...

for the first time I have estimated that 33,000 dead bodies...

human dead bodies, are burned on two cremation grounds.

Harishchand and Madhaganika.

In Varanasi alone? -In Varanasi, 33,000 per year.

And these bodies are burned with the help of 16,000 tons of dry wood.

In India dry wood is used for the burning of the bodies.

From this huge quantities of ashes are released into the river.

Also some parts of the body remain and are directly thrown into the river.

So I have estimated...

that 300 tons of half-burned flesh is released every year into the river.

So 3000 dead bodies of humans...

and approximately 6000 dead bodies of animals.

This is just in Varanasi. Can you estimate how many tons...

of partially burned pieces of body are floating around in the entire Ganges?

Since I don't have the data for the entire Ganges, I can't tell you.

I make scientific estimations. -You're right, you should be precise.

Just to interrupt you.

Don't you want to warn this man who just took a dive about the risks?

This river is also linked with the faith of the people.

And it has been scientifically shown that regular bathers in the river...

have developed resistance in their body.

Because of this resistance, the water doesn't adversely affect their health.

Has that been scientifically proven? -Yes.

But if you take a bath, you will be adversely affected.

So that's the point of worry. -For me it's better not to take a bath.

I'd suggest that for the first time, please don't take water in the area.

Have you ever gone bathing here? -Yes.

But nowadays, now I know the water on this side of the stream is polluted...

I won't take a bath in this area. -You go midstream.

I go to the middle or to that side.

I heard that if you're pregnant and you die, you're not burned.

Then you're not burned, and if you're a saint, you're not burned.

Babies are also not burned. And they put them on a stone?

They go midstream and sink it there.

The exclusive character of the river at Varanasi is the half-moon curvature.

But Mr Tripathi. You swim midstream, where they throw all the bodies in.

Often when we come to take samples, we also take a bath.

So first you sample the quality... -Yes, and then we take a bath.

First we analyse the quality.

When it's safe, then we take a bath. Otherwise not.

The Ganges begins in Rishikesh, at the foot of the Himalayas.

Hard to imagine this is the same river as the sewer flowing through Varanasi.

Most spiritual tourists go to Rishikesh, of course.

It's all aura readers, meditation centres, gurus, spiritual bookshops...

and my personal highlight, the four-day workshop 'The Art of Dying'.

At primary school half of my class had parents who were into Bhagwan.

That was back in the 1980s.

I'd forgotten all about it and thought it had passed...

until I was in Pune last year, seat of the Bhagwan movement.

To my surprise it was full of people from all over the world.

Bhagwan is alive and kicking, although he's now called Osho.

What happens is this. Our lungs contain over 8000 pores.

But we only use about 1500 of them.

In order to open the pores, we breathe quickly and deeply.

When the pores open, extra oxygen enters our lungs...

which makes our blood much purer.

The second step is driving out anger. We call this 'catharsis'.

We have so much suppressed anger inside us.

From childhood on, everyone suppresses anger.

So we have to get rid of that anger.

And that's how the repressed anger is released.

Hitting and kicking, so that the madness goes out.

How old were you when you got the tattoo?

It was four years ago.

In Jabalpur, where Osho was teaching at the time.

I think he was teaching there.

I went to a camp, and that's where I met him.

Now he's with you forever. -Yes.

When I see a picture of Osho or have eye contact with him...

I get this feeling he's there for me.

What attracts you so much in Osho? There are many gurus. Why Osho?

Lover. -Lover?

Explain what that is. -Osho?

Outside him there's nothing.

First I was looking for love.

I've been in various relationships, but now I don't need one anymore.

Not like before. I don't need a relationship anymore.

You're not married? -No.

Because Osho is enough?

Osho is enough?

Exactly.

Why do you think so many people from the West like Osho?

Because the West has developed in such a terrible way.

People have had enough of this materialistic lifestyle.

They've become accustomed to working hard on automatic pilot.

But now that they're wealthy and have everything, they still feel an emptiness.

They have the feeling there has to be more in life.

And they come here to explore that possibility.

India has always been very spiritual.

They feel the urge to look for something different.

I'm here to meet Gophal, a young yogi who can tell me about the yoga culture.

I wanted to meet here because I want to see the ashram...

where the Beatles found inspiration for The White Album. It's over there.

They spent the summer of '68 there with their guru.

I believe Ringo Starr was the first to leave. He didn't like the Indian food.

He'd brought two suitcases, one with clothes, one with red beans.

When the beans were finished, he went home.

But he did write 'Don't Pass Me By' here.

Hi, Gopal. Good to see you. I'm fine.

Last time you had less hair. -It has grown.

Why was it so short? Any reason? -No, I just decided to shave it.

K and I are the same age, but our lives couldn't have been any more different.

K ran away from his parents, who lived in a village in Bihar.

Why? He never wanted to tell me.

During his wanderings he met his guru.

For ten years he lived with him, cooking for him, looking after him.

Is everybody able to do yoga? -Definitely.

It doesn't matter if you're a beginner or advanced.

Anyone can do and practice it. But it requires your inner wish to do so.

If you have something in your mind you want to do, nothing is impossible.

Whether your body supports it or not, if you wish to do something, just do it.

What do you have in your hand?

This is a 'neti pot' we use for 'jala neti'. We fill it with lukewarm water with salt.

We insert it through this nose and water comes through the other side.

It's a cleaning process that helps activate the inner glands.

You breathe healthier and it improves your eyesight.

I always have a stuffy nose. -It's good for that. Very good.

This is called 'sutra'. There are many different sutras.

These sutras we insert inside. It makes you feel like sneezing.

But you slowly let this go inside, then use two fingers to take it out.

Out of your mouth. -Just rub it a little bit and pull it out.

Some people have lumps inside or cannot breathe properly.

It helps them. Your hearing capacities also improve with this process.

This process is thousands of years old. -Okay, let's see.

Let's try it.

My nose is always bothering me. Maybe this will help.

But I actually think it's just going to hurt a lot.

Separate your feet. And this knee.

Open your mouth.

Which hole? Does it matter? -No.

Open your mouth. Insert inside.

No, not that side. This side, here.

Yes, slowly lift your hand. Open your mouth more.

Lift up more.

Does it start going?

No, it's not coming.

Open your mouth. -Yes, it's coming.

I can feel it. -Come back a little bit.

Blow your nose. Yes, blow.

Wash your hands.

Blow your nose.

Water.

You pull it back out of your nose? -Through the nose.

You can go right or left.

First we have to see on which side your air is flowing more.

If on the right side it flows more, go with the right.

Like this. -It looked a bit hard.

Is there a beginning or an end? -Yes, the beginning is here.

Open your mouth. Look up, head up.

It's very unpleasant.

Open your mouth. Lift it up more.

Good.

Do you feel like it has come there?

You will feel that something is there inside.

You can apply some honey or some ghee on top.

I can push, but it doesn't go further. -Okay, come back.

Oh, this feels very...

Slowly.

Maybe I'm just not spiritual enough.

At what age did you leave home? -I was twelve.

So why did you decide to do that?

First, cultural background, second, faith.

In India we consider everything that happens to be predetermined.

That we are here is predetermined.

It's not that suddenly we happen to see each other.

So in my faith this has been predetermined.

And my action, my will, supports that action that is predetermined.

We move along with that, like water flowing.

And if you want to float along with this river...

you just slowly move your hands and you'll be floating along the river.

Maybe it's true we swim against the current too much in the West.

We think everything can be controlled and that we can eliminate all risks.

But the notion that everything is predestined also has its dangers.

If you have no free will, nothing will ever change.

That may be the reason why the caste system still exists.

Or why the position of women in India is often still appalling.

A few months ago I was here at the Matridham Ashram...

a place where sannyasins live who care about the environment.

The river is polluted and they protest against that.

Last year one of the swamis died during a hunger strike.

I've been told that another swami is on a hunger strike now.

Our leader, Kumar Bharati, has just arrived in the place...

of the peaceful protest.

Professor D.D. Agrawal, now Swami Gyanswarupsanand...

is doing a continuous fast for Ganga.

He's been fasting since February 8. -So that's almost a month now.

Yes, I think today is the 23rd day. -Can he eat fruit?

Since February 8 he's been taking only lemon, water, salt and a bit of honey.

Nothing else.

I met him in Varanasi in December.

Mr Agrawal...

His name is Swami Gyanswarupsanand.

He has renounced his previous name.

I'm sorry. Excuse me.

For a Westerner it's hard to adapt. I'll do my best.

Swami Swanandji, you spent a considerable amount of your career...

as a scientist. How do you look back on your life?

The moment one enters sannyasinship...

you forget all that happened before.

The date of birth becomes the date of sannyas.

So as of now my date of birth is July 2, 2011.

Do you ever think of the time before that?

I can only think of that as a preparation for this phase.

I feel that I was being prepared by Lord Rama himself...

for a specific task, and this is the culmination of it.

Don't you think that India also might need you as a scientist?

You know so much about the river... -I'm sorry to say it again...

but Westerners feel that one can keep on living as long as one wants...

or as long as you're needed. No.

Everything is ordained, everything is fixed in time.

And in any case, I can't survive more than a few more years. I'm past 80.

Nobody is needed in this world. It's the Lord whose games these are.

Depending on one's previous actions.

We believe in rebirth. It's just changing clothes.

If you change clothes one day, it doesn't mean that you are no more.

The soul lives on.

So into whatever birth I pass next...

It doesn't matter. Whatever the Lord needs, I do.

So this time is for me to look towards my soul, towards my next life.

Not this life. I'm not worried about this life at all.

Actually I'm counting the days until I'm able to change these clothes.

You're counting down? -That's right.

The countdown has started.

How many days?

That only the doctor can say.

I wish it's not more than 15 or 20 days.

I feel 15 days is sort of optimal.

See how happy he is?

Are you not observing how happy he is?

He's not worried. We are worried, he's not worried.

Help me and tell me when I can start.

oh, Mother they who partake of your pure water

will attain the highest state

oh, Mother Ganga

The hunger striker is eating again and is still alive.

And the river Ganges is as polluted as it ever was.

But I didn't get sick from my glass of Ganga water.

Maybe the river really is more sacred than I will ever believe.
