Tweet of the Week with Norm McGaughey April 7, 2017 Dr. Terry Alban

[DR.TERRY ALBAN] Welcome to Tweet of the Week and this week we're going to be talking

about one of my favorite subjects.

It was a subject I enjoyed very much when I was in high school, and yes you will be

surprised to know that we had it going on even back then.

I'm joined by Norm McGaughey who is our Coordinator for Career and Technology Education,

and Norm, I know you have been working really hard to bring some exciting new programs to

our Career and Technology Education offerings for students and you tweeted about some of

that.

[NORM MCGAUGHEY] Right, on Friday Katie Heefner and I, our teacher specialist, actually spent

some time with the Advisory Board at Hood and really spent some time with some local

business people as well as really trying to find a way to get more people involved in

computer science because we know there's 19,000 jobs right now that aren't filled

in the computer science industry.

And, so for the last three years we began integrating coding and computer science in

middle school and also the development of the foundations of computer science at the

high school level which enables you to receive your Tech Ed credit has really bolstered our

numbers.

And, we're starting to really see, um, some momentum in that field.

And, um, the next objective, one of the things we're doing is, is rewriting the curriculum

in our seventh grade communication techniques to expose more middle school kids to the computer

science because we really feel that's the time where they begin thinking about their

future so we're excited about it.

[TERRY] That is so true, and as you said a field that continues to grow a great need,

and I think if students can get interested in that they're going to be lots of possibilities

for them.

And, things like hour of code.

Even let our little ones form PreK on up begin to explore the idea how do you program and

get the computer to do the things you want.

[NORM] Right, and, and I think it's more in showing the students what computer science

isn't.

To me it's really a medium for like problem solving and self-expression and it's everywhere.

One of the new courses that Hood is coming out with is Musical Computation, utilizing

computer and coding for music, so there's, I think if we just get more students exposed

to it they'll realize that, you know, this, this might be something for me.

We know that, um, really our goal is nontraditional students because we know a female in high

school that takes one class of computer science is ten times more likely to major in computer

science in college.

So, maybe just that one class will you know spark that interest.

[TERRY] And, I think it's wonderful that you're talking to our colleagues and higher

education in the business community because they will help keep it real and perhaps can

also serve as mentors and key guest speakers for our students and our staff to see the

applications.

Because I think you're right, I think sometimes students don't realize how far ranging this

field is and the different areas you can go into that are going to require some computer

science work.

[NORM] Right, another thing we did also with FCC is we had our cyber security day the last

few years.

And, now their enrollment for that program is tremendous.

I think just showing students what it is, is really gonna be the secret.

So, the more we can get it out there, I think, you know, we'll be making a difference.

[TERRY] Well, keep on tweeting about it, and if you're a little bit curious now students

go talk to a teacher, found out, give it a try.

It is a great field for the future.

OPENING POKEMON COLLECTORS CHEST Sun and Moon - Duration: 8:08.

nerds we're back with another video

unboxing this pokemon TCG sun and moon

lunch box these lunch boxes are my

absolute favorite pokemon TCG product

unbox because you get so much in it for

only 25 dollars if you've never unboxed

one stick around because we're about to

do one right now this is the newest one

all right now before we open this up

let's take a quick look around the

outside of this lunch box of course it's

going to feature nothing but Sun and

Moon Pokemon you get the starters back

there and you get the legendaries off to

the side and the front as you saw but

right here is where the magic happens

boom here we go and you see promos right

there promos that you can only get in

this lunch box right here it's not like

they're play worthy but it's pretty cool

if you collect click the promos or if

you just collect the starters in general

and then you have a point right there

with all the sun and moon starters on it

and then right here let's take i'll lift

this up right here so you can see a

little bit better what you get you're

gonna get booster packs yes mr. packs

everybody loves booster packs looks like

we got two steam stage one fates collide

and then to sun and moon right over here

you should have a code card in here

somewhere lift this up and then you get

sun and moon pencils let's take a quick

look at east right here sun and moon

pencils you get the starters right there

as you can see not bad pencils i've

never used these but i mean they're kind

of cool to have any way and then you're

going to get a sticker sheet right there

of the legendaries not bad pretty cool

and then there's a sticker sheet of the

starters now one of my favorite things

in these lunch boxes is these little

note pads that you get in here / right

they're pretty cool I've used these

before and giveaways when I've given

away I think I used it for the

Valentine's giveaway it was a the

volcania and the mag gear none notepad I

use that and I wrote you guys some notes

and send out with your giveaway prizes

and then you get this little um this

little collector buying there for your

cards how fancy but let's do the fun

part let's open up their booster packs

right now like always with the booster

packs

I like to go from the oldest to newest

so we're going to do face glide and then

the two steam siege and then the two sun

and moon so let's go ahead and open up

this face Clyde right here not a bad set

one of my more favorite sets right here

now we got those Alakazam Xin here and

there is a code card for you right there

really awesome artwork in it some good

playable card so let's take a look at

i do not have this much trouble with

booster packs so I'm opening it up not

that extra energy in there here we go

the last video so I don't know if I'm

the only good thing we fold but you know

what I do love these pins right here

because this is not just a 10 this is a

lunch box so you can take your lunch in

it when you go to work or school or

whatever and then you get your pencils

you can write things with all kinds of

Let's Peek At... Overload Playable Teaser 2.0 by Revival Productions | LegacyOfJames - Duration: 6:02.

hello there mates welcome to another

episode of Games with James today I

would like to take a look at a game that

I've looked at on this channel before I

know I'm pushing the boat out but just

bear with me here the game in question

goes by the name of Overload developed

by Revival Productions the game is

currently in early access on Steam so

for those of you who don't know Revival

Productions contains a few developers

who worked on Descent 1, 2 and

3 hence the reason when I last

played Overload I called it the only

true successor to the Descent series so

in my first video that I did on this

game I was looking at version one of the

playable teaser this version was light

on contents which is obvious because it

was in alpha at the time and still is

and had some big optimization issues and

by optimization issues I mean my pc

became a blast furnace after about 15

minutes of play so what's the deal with

version 2.0 well as you can see

from the footage on screen it has

received a massive graphical update

textures are much better and better

lighting has been implemented if this

game is going to be anything like

descent than the lighting system that

they employ is go to have to be very

good all the descent games were known

for their dark and claustrophobic

environments if this game is going to

try and replicate that feel which it

certainly looks like it's trying to do

at this present time it will need to get

the lighting spot on and on that front I

am very pleased with the progress made

in version 2 point 0 the levels are dark

and I mean dark in some parts of this

demo level I was put in mind of some

modern survival horror games the look

and feel of version 2.0 is very

different to that of version 1 if I put

the two pieces of footage side by side

you should be able to see what I mean

version 2 just feels more claustrophobic

and dark and dank and I love it as for

the graphics they've also been vastly

improved in version 2.0 I'm going to

leave the side-by-side footage up for a

bit so that you can see the difference

the improvement is night and day in its

obvious

and is what I would class as good

progress the one thing I particularly

enjoyed about version 2 is the addition

of a cockpit mode which while a bit

threadbare at the moment still adds to

the immersion and the feeling of

claustrophobia it was just a little

thing that I found rather enjoyable I

think one thing that is very important

in a six degrees of freedom shooter is

that feeling of immersion and the cockpit

view is an embodiment of that it makes

you feel like you are actually piloting

a ship through these claustrophobic

tunnels now as with any of these early

development graphical features it's not

a complete implementation which means it

doesn't quite sit right with the rest of

the heads-up display I'm hoping that

when the final game launches the heads

up display will be integrated with the

cockpit view in some way shape or form

speaking of the heads up display it has

received a slight graphical upgrade but

I'm still liking its simplicity it's a

very functional HUD and I like that in

first-person games in general i believe

the heads up display should be minimal

giving you the information you need and

nothing else the hud in overload

version 2 is okay I think it could be a

little bit less intrusive so for

instance when you aren't in cockpit mode

the HUD elements could move down to the

corners out of the way but that's a

minor nitpick and certainly won't be a

major issue for everybody so that's it

for the graphical overhaul so let's turn

our attention to optimization as far as

I can tell the optimization in this

build is a little bit better than

version 1 and when I say as far as i can

tell i don't have fancy overlays that

can tell me that type of thing but in

version one it took 15 minutes for my pc

to become a blast furnace now it takes

roughly 45 minutes my pc still becomes

like a blast furnace just a load slower

now i'm not going to be too hard on

overload for optimization issues it is

after all a product that is still in its

alpha stage of development optimizations

of this kind will come later but right

now it is a fair improvement so the last

thing I'm going to talk about in this

video is the content

choose well the same as version one this

version of the playable teaser contains

a demo level and a couple of challenge

levels pretty much exactly the same as

version 1 so the reason really must to

talk about them the demo level is an

example campaign level but isn't

actually part of the campaign for

obvious reasons then spoilers and all

that it's actually a fair level if a bit

short but it combines multiple different

areas and does a good job of showing off

the new lighting system if that's what

the campaign is going to look like when

the game launches then I would be happy

with that the challenge levels are

basically an exercise in how long you

can survive against an infinite wave of

enemies to get increasingly harder the

longer you survive these levels are

rather fun but due to the lack of

variety it can get very old very quickly

however I need to keep reminding myself

that this is an alpha build of a game

that probably won't be released for a

while all in all I'm very happy with

where this game is going I'm very

impressed with a new lighting system I

think it adds so much more atmosphere to

the game the graphical updates are nice

and the optimization is getting better

I'm very much looking forward to version

3 of the playable fiza and it's

something I definitely think you should

check out if you get the chance so

For me it's all about hydration because whenever I'm in a plane, my skin gets really

dry and the air isn't clean, so this is a Biossance squalane oil.

So squalane is found in sharks, but this is animal friendly.

It's all natural, which is why I'm obsessed with it, so I put this all over my skin, my

face, my neck, even on my arms…

And then, I put the Laura Mercier rose oil.

I'm obsessed with this one.

This really transformed my skin.

I use it during colder months but especially on planes as well.

The next thing I have is a TonyMoly sleeping pack.

I use this all over my face, neck, and even on my legs.

It's super hydrating.

You actually can put this overnight because it's super moisturizing, so it works really

well on planes.

Look!

It looks like a banana, it smells like banana, but it's super moisturizing like a banana!

And then, before I step out of the plane, I always put on my Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer.

It has SPF in it, and then it also gives you that natural glow, which is so good.

Last but not least, I have my Laura Mercier eyebrow duo.

So it has pencil on one side and spoolie on the other, so I just brush my eyebrows up

and I'm ready to go.

How to Activate 'SECRET' YouTube Dark Mode? - Duration: 1:36.

Hello YouTube.

This is Praveen for TechEmpty and in this video I will be showing you how can you activate

the YouTube dark mode in Chrome web browser.

This trick comes handy if you do watch a lot of YouTube videos at night.

To prevent the eyes from straining, do activate the YouTube dark mode right now by follow

these steps.

So, without any further ado, let's get started.

First of all you need to have the latest version of Chrome browser and then open it.

Now visit youtube.com to enable the dark mode.

Right click anywhere on the chrome browser and choose 'Inspect'

Here select 'Console'.

Now copy the code provided here in the description of this video and paste it here.

After pasting the code, press the Enter key to save it.

Now reload the YouTube and enjoy the material design.

If you don't see the new layout, then you must delete the browser cookies.

To activate the dark mode of YouTube, find the three dots at the top right corner and

then select 'Dark Mode'.

Toggle the button to enable it.

This new layout won't go away after you relaunch the chrome browser unless you clear

the cookies.

Once you clear the cookies, you need to repeat these steps again.

To turn off the new layout, choose the three dots and from the list of options select 'restore

classic youtube.'

That's it.
