Robby: Throughout today, my highest blood glucose was 107.
So this was a super steady day.
Good morning everybody!
It is Friday, April 21 and I'm feeling really good about today.
Today's just going to be a great day.
I have 5 calls of people who are interested in learning about coaching.
I'm going to be packing for Tulum, which is super exciting.
It looks amazing.
I haven't been there, but it looks amazing.
Blood sugar wise, today's off to a good start.
I woke up and my Dexcom said 124.
I took 2.5 units to treat the dawn phenomenon, which
is a little more than usual but the problem is I
haven't been exercising so much lately.
We'll see what happens.
That should keep me pretty stable until it's time to eat breakfast.
Right now I'm just drinking some lemon water and i'm going
to make some tea and some celery juice and then head outside to the beach for a little
movement.
This is the tea I drink each morning.
I just soak it in water each night.
There's rosehips, shizandra berries, and elderberries.
So that's just straight celery juice, and I'm going to strain it because it tastes even
better when it's strained.
It's 8:33.
My 2.5 units are working out great.
Now it's time to head to the beach.
Okay, so I did a little bit of movement on the beach.
Went down to 62, so I'm going to treat this with 3 of these
dates.
Each date's like 5 grams of carbs so I'm going to treat this with 15.
Obviously the dawn phenomenon was a little too much.
Going to have to take less than that tomorrow because I'm
starting to be more active again.
One of these days I'm really going to try surfing.
It's a good morning at the beach.
Got in my movement, touching nature.
Now it's time for breakfast.
For breakfast, it's going to be papaya, mango, and some greens.
It's going to be roughly 180 grams of carbs, so I'm going to go for 7.5
units, which will be roughly a 24:1 ratio.
So here's the final product.
Dexcom says 80 and I've waited plenty long to eat.
It's probably been about 10 or 15 minutes ago since I injected, so I'm going
to go eat this.
It's just mangos, papaya, arugula, and spinach.
Okay, I'm 79 so far.
It hasn't even been two hours.
The ratio is too aggressive, so exercise is starting to lower my ratios.
So to correct this, I'm going to be proactive and try and keep it up.
So 3 dates and I should be okay.
Lunch is in progress.
This is white sapote.
It's an amazing fruit.
White sapote's actually not in the USDA nutrient database, so I guess that
it's similar to sapodilla.
That's how I calculate the numbers.
Here's the meal.
Everything right there, so I put it into Cron-O-Meter right here.
188 grams of carbs in this particular meal.
I've injected 7 units.
What does the Dexcom say?
Dexcom says I am 95.
I took insulin probably about 10 or 15 minutes ago, so I'm going to start
eating and enjoying this delicious lunch.
Okay, I'm running errands.
I'm actually going to Walgreens to pick up some blood glucose
strips.
Just to be safe, I'll eat 3 dates like I did last time.
I just measured out this afternoon snack right here.
I've got tomatoes, mangoes, wild blueberries.
I'm going to blend it all together and throw some spirulina in there.
And it's 93 grams of carbs.
Those are all the actual grams of each ingredient, so if I do 2.5 units then it's
going to be a 37:1 ratio.
That's what I'm going to do and then I'm going to workout soon.
So exercise class starts at 5:15.
That means I gotta eat this pretty darn quickly and get on my
bike.
So I ate 55 grams worth of dates during this workout.
I'm going to test and find out exactly how the Dexcom is right now.
It was a good workout and fun bike ride as always.
I'm just blessed to live in a great spot.
86.
See, the Dexcom was not giving me the completely accurate data,
although I will say I've had this Dexcom in now for like the 8th day now so it may be
time to change it.
I don't know exactly how many carbs are going to be at dinner, so I'm just going to guess
because I worked out and I'm pretty hungry.
I'm just going to take 4 units and I will measure this
stuff afterwards and see what the ratio ended up being and see if I feel good about it.
I'm going to take my long acting.
I always take my long acting with my dinner.
So Lantis here.
I'm going to do 16 units.
I've been doing 17 lately, but since I finally picked up the exercise
again I'm just going to go with 16.
All right.
Short acting -- I use Humalog and I got this pen that
does half units which is pretty cool.
I don't know if you can see that on the camera or not, but
anyways I only need half units so I'm just going to go with 4.
I'm going to go with the legs since I worked out the legs, so it's a good idea.
So let's talk for a moment about everything that's going on.
So if you have not signed up for the free summit, you've got to check out our free
summit, okay?
I'll put a link below for that: Mastering Diabetes Online Summit.
It's amazing.
If you have not heard about our retreats, go to
our website and check it out to see what's going on.
We've got our next retreat July 13 - 17.
You can read all about it on our website, MasteringDiabetes.org.
I will be in the United Kingdom at the UK Fruitfest on August 2 - 6.
I'm super pumped about this, so if you live in the UK and it's ike too
far for you to travel to a retreat, I mean this is basically
like an opportunity -- a cheaper opportunity -- to get all your food taken care of to ask
me anything you want about diabetes.
Like work on your transition, what's going on, I'll be there all
day just hanging out, having fun.
I've got a few lectures going on.
Plus there's other bunch of great people there giving lectures, so if
you are in Europe and you want to hang ut and eat a
bunch of fruit, you've got to check out the UK Fruitfest.
Hey, if you're in America and you want to travel there, I mean check it out.
I'm pumped.
I've never been to London.
I've never been to the United Kingdom.
So I'm just rally excited about it.
So that's happening August 2nd to the 6th.
If you enter the code MINDFUL, you have 10%.
So that is coming up real soon.
Okay, there's the salad so far.
That's what we've got.
I'm going to calculate these numbers in Cron-O-Meter.
Dexcom says I'm 98 and going up, so I have to be careful now with the insulin
timing.
So I'm going to test myself again.
Okay, when I measured everything out, it was 155
grams of carbs and going up it flattened out.
I re-tested myself.
I'm 76, so it's time to eat this beautiful dinner.
Wrapping up this video, putting all the numbers together, and I'm snacking on
cauliflower.
Blood glucose is in a good position right now -- 92 and going steady.
This is all the data in Cron-O-Meter.
Total carbs for the day: 743 right there.
Total carbs: 743 grams.
My boluses throughout the day were a total of 23.5.
My basal insulin: I took 16.
So my total is 39.5 units of insulin.
When you do the math here to calculate the 24-hour insulin
sensitivity ratio, which is super important.
Every type 1 should be calculating this number.
I take the total carbs divided by the total insulin
and today it's 19:1.
I'm happy with that and my macro ratios today are 90/5/5 with a total of 21
grams of fat.
And let's look at the Dexcom data.
So throughout today, my highest blood glucose
I believe was 107.
So this was a super steady day.
There were a couple lows in there, hovering in the lows a couple times, but none of these
are dangerous lows.
I might have missed by a little bit and I felt fine.
I was okay.
It's not a big deal, and that's part of really being in control
of your ratios, what's going on, just quality type 1
management.
So that's what happened today.
I know what a dangerous, shaky low feels like.
It was nowhere near that today.
I'm happy.
This was a solid day.
This flatline, it's usually not that flat actually so this was the result of really
diligent measuring, eating a lot of greens with meals,
insuiin timing, and eating at a good pace.
That's how I got the flat line.
And that's it, so if you have comments or questions, please write below.
