How Engineering Decreases Car Crash Fatalities - Duration: 2:21.

Imagine you are driving in a car, travelling 80 kilometers per hour.

And then suddenly, the unfortunate happens.

A head-on collision, an abrupt full stop.

In a split second, all kinetic energy of you and your car

are transformed to heat, sound and deformation.

G-forces will extend world's scariest rollercoaster, causing a lot of internal damage.

No human body will like such an event.

But engineers do their job and have invented three major features

that drastically decrease injuries in such an event.

First: The crumple zone.

Did you know that the front part of your car is actually not that rigid?

You can see that even in a relatively small collision,

the outer part crumples a lot.

This will extend the length of the path in which your body deaccelerates to zero,

which reduces g-forces by more than 50 percent!

Furthermore, modern cars are equipped with airbags.

This head protecting device is the reason for an eleven percent reduction of fatalities.

Using a combination of potassium nitrate and sodium azide,

a quick explosion can be created to fill the airbag with nitrogen gas.

Like a balloon can deform if you push on it, so can a good airbag,

creating a softer landing for your head.

But this only works when the deployment of an airbag is timed perfectly.

I recommend you to watch this video to see what will happen if that's not the case..

Yet, the effectiveness of an airbag is not even remotely close to that of a seatbelt.

By keeping your body in your seat, seatbelts are estimated to reduce your change

of dying in an accident by 45 percent.

These three safety features are together with dozens of other ones

the reason that driving a car has become safer and safer in the past few decades.

However, still more than 5 million accidents - causing 35.000 fatalities –

happen in the United States alone annually.

Worldwide numbers reach 1.3 million deaths yearly.

But thé solution is coming.

Autonomous cars exist, and they are already way better than their meat-based competitors,

only continuing to get even more superior.

So give it 20 years and all this won't be needed anymore.

But for now, wear your seatbelt guys!

Drive save!

And if the unfortunate might ever happen, you know engineering will do the best it can

to protect you!

Easter 2017. How to make an Easter Basket? Do it yourself Basket for two Eggs - Duration: 10:15.

Good afternoon! You are on the channel "Origami cat".

Today we will do this Easter basket.

It accommodates two Easter eggs.

Shopping white, decorated with an ornament.

Inside straw baskets. It put Easter eggs.

Shopping durable, made of cardboard.

Take a square of cardboard measuring 21x21 cm.

Mark the line of 7 cm. Put 2 to 7 cm label.

Make the same mark of 7 cm on each side of the square.

Connect the dots with a ruler.

Spend a knife along the line to leave a mark.

Cardboard should not be cut, but only pushes.

This stationery knife is very sharp.

I recommend to carry out such a simple line with an awl or a needle.

It will be much safer. Your fingers will remain whole.

Turn the square and spend another 2 lines (scratches).

If you use a knife, draw lines very slowly. Keep up with your fingers.

Fold the paper along the planned lines.

She bends herself, she need only help.

Check the crease. You should have also.

2 Make a cut on this side and 2 - on the opposite side.

You should have also.

Connect the squares together side angles.

Apply glue to the paper part of the square.

Connect the corners of the squares and hold.

Repeat steps on the opposite side.

Take a strip of white paper, 21h2 cm

And a strip of colored paper, 21h1 cm.

Apply glue to the narrow strip.

Glue the narrow strip on the broad.

It will stick to the basket.

Place the handle to the basket and glue.

Glue stick to the basket on the other side.

Prepare all the elements of decor.

My cross symbolize the elements.

Glue decoration element to the basket.

Who for the first time on the channel, please subscribe!

After the subscription, click on the bell next to the "Subscribed".

So once you learn about the release of a new video.

Glue pattern on the reverse side.

Take a square of wrapping paper 15 x 15 cm.

You can take paper, green or yellow.

It will symbolize a fresh or dry grass - straw.

Cut a rectangle (not fully) into strips.

Curl strips with scissors.

Apply glue to the edge.

Glue the grass on the inside of the basket.

Make another herb and glue to the other side.

I advise glue strip to the bottom.

The result was a very long grass.

I need a little shortened.

If you stuck to the bottom of the grass, it is not necessary to shorten.

Cut thin strips of the same paper.

Stripes symbolize the grass or straw.

Make a bed for the eggs.

Put litter in the trash.

Easter basket of paper ready!

Put in basket Easter Egg!

If you turned the basket

if you liked the video - put your finger up!

I look forward to your comments.

I am interested to know you, too, has turned a basket for eggs?

Thanks for watching the video.

My Mistake- By Doom Vroom - Duration: 6:19.

you know how there are those moments in

life in which you are presented with a

choice and you feel that you can't win I

suspect that the rest of my life will

feel that way my situation as unique as

it may be is completely my own fault I

recognize that that doesn't stop it from

being needlessly cruel it all began with

an innocent break-in perpetrated by

yours truly I'd broken into an outwardly

elegant mansion the inside was very well

kept and stocked with the most expensive

of furniture flooring countertops

toilets my new but something felt a miss

in hindsight I feel that how easy the

front door gave way to my foot should

have been the first sign that something

was wrong

I'd managed to empty some items of

interest a couple of money stacks in a

laptop both of which were found in a

home office area downstairs and then lay

my way up to the upper floor there is a

thing that goes something like assuming

makes an ass out of you and me well in

this case assume makes one of us dead

yeah the owner was home as it turns out

no cars in the driveway is not a

clear-cut indication that the residence

is empty the old guy came barreling out

of his bedroom and get a hard framed

certificate to the head

I only meant to knock him out at worst

it isn't my fault the elderly are so

fucking fragile I didn't check the rest

of the manor I just couldn't bring

myself to do so within 24 hours the

police were knocking at my door and

presenting me with some shiny steel cups

they were cufflinks in a sense but not

the kind that I wanted to be able to

afford I'm expecting to get sent to a

cold hard sell but I find myself at a

law office it turns out that the police

had brought me before the codgers

personal lawyer the police officer stood

beside me still cuffed as the lawyer

read me the will of one very recently

deceased Edgar Westbrook the suit tells

me that I have two choices with the

first beam to go to prison for life he

assured me that Edgar had greased enough

palms to ensure that sentence would

befall me should I choose to go to trial

the second and likely equally illegal

option was that I inherit Westbrook's

wealth sounds grave of an awesome right

but then the lawyer reads the terms

should I choose option 2 I must live in

the mansion make a will which would name

my killer as my beneficiary with the

exact to same options offered to him or

her and I must put out an ad in the

newspaper at the set of every bump

stating my place of residence and the

beneficiary condition of my will should

any of those terms be breached then

hello doll house for me not so awesome

now is it

I went with option two because freedom

when the police dumped me off but my new

home and slept an ankle bracelet on me

it really hit home how both options were

prison except one came with a life

sentence and the other a sentencing of

death I feel like a fuckin moron now

realizing that I chose death over in

life sentencing technically I could just

leave and get son to prison but that

somehow seems more final that the

potential death that awaits in the end

it just boils down to hoping for decency

and others in relation to decency I

found a note left to me well not to me

but the killer of Edgar Westbrook which

Jessel happens to be me it went on about

how ol Edgar might not be able to have

his cancer cured but he would be able to

treat the cancer that is his hometown

society I must admit that note makes me

feel like I've chosen poorly I guess

what it all boils down to is please

don't kill me

you

No Light at the End of the Tunnel for Ukraine - Duration: 5:50.

Ukraine.

On Wednesday, the High Court of London passed a verdict

on Kiev's $3 billion debt,

which Poroshenko refuses to pay to Russia.

The trial lasted for a little more than a year.

As a result, the court ruled that Russia has good reasons to demand its money back,

$3 billion,

and an accumulated interest of $75 million.

Also, the court found all of Ukraine's arguments not to pay, unjustifiable.

Ukraine, of course, is going to protest

this unfavorable decision in the Supreme Court of London.

The procedure can take from several months to a year.

Some observers, however, are confident

that Russia won't receive any money back in any case,

since Ukraine in its present form will collapse as a state,

and there will be no one to pay it back.

Others, like the ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Yelena Lukash,

in the spirit of black humor, fully modeled nationalists' reactions

to the decision of the High Court of London.

I propose to the "activists" that they put on balaclavas and prepare Molotov cocktails,

urgently block the court itself, lay concrete at its entrances and exits,

come to the embassy of the unfriendly Great Britain with protests,

prepare an alternative decision in the Obolonsky district court on Euro bonds,

urgently publish information about all those involved on the "Peacemaker" web page,

in absentee arrest all the judges of the High Court of London,

and allow a search in the waiting room of the Buckingham Palace.

This should help.

And the EU, which supports such actions of the "activists" inside Ukraine,

won't oppose similar actions on its territory.

It would sound grotesque,

if it wasn't clearly written off from the events already happening in Ukraine,

in a country of lawlessness, absurdity, and chaos.

Let's at least look at the other recent news from Ukraine.

On Friday, we received a message about the stoppage at the Dnepr Metallurgical Plant.

Production stopped due to a shortage of coke, as a result of the Donbass blockade.

The Dnepr Metallurgical Plant is not an ordinary enterprise.

Steel has been smelted here for 127 years.

The last time the plant was stopped and cooled was only during the German-fascist occupation.

During the Tsars, this was the largest metallurgical plant in the Russian Empire.

In the USSR, in 1949, the plant was awarded

the title of "The best metallurgical plant of the Soviet Union."

And not only in the USSR!

In the world, the Dnepr Metallurgical Plant was often the first.

For example, it was the first on Earth, in 1979,

to start producing hollow rolled axles for wheels of railway cars.

Until now, in Ukraine, the enterprise has been

a monopoly supplier of several very important items,

such as axle billets for railway wheel sets,

subway contact rails,

and pipe billets.

Once, 20 thousand people worked at this full cycle production site

with blast furnaces, open-hearth furnaces, Bessemer converters, and rolling mills.

Now, a full stop and cooling.

They promise to pay salaries only for February.

Stopping such an enterprise can't be an isolated event in the country's industry.

By the beginning of the 21st century, Ukraine was the 7th largest steel producer in the world.

This year, we won't find the country in the top ten.

How the Dnepr Metallurgical Plant stoppage

will affect the entire metallurgical complex,

and who else it will bring down, is only to be seen.

Ukraine showed signs of degradation, anarchy, and chaos every day this week.

On Wednesday, someone fired from a grenade launcher at the Polish consulate in Lutsk.

This from a grenade launcher, and at the building of a diplomatic mission.

It seems, handgun shootings aren't considered an incident in Ukraine anymore.

At least, the statistics on this are classified.

In international ratings, the country is falling lower and lower,

plunging into poverty and despair.

According to the UN, 60% of Ukrainians live below the poverty line.

This was stated by Neil Walker on Thursday,

the representative of the United Nations Development Program in Kiev.

According to the Human Development Index,

Ukraine fell from 55th place to 84th place in 2016.

In the World Happiness Report, Ukraine also fell down,

and now ranks 132nd,

behind Ghana, which is in 131st place,

and ahead of Uganda, which is 133rd.

Russia, by the way, has risen in the World Happiness Report during the year.

For Ukraine, these are severe symptoms.

And there is still no light at the end of the tunnel.

There isn't even a strategy,

a real direction for the country, on which there is agreement in society.

And in reality, under the cries "Glory to Ukraine!", the state is breaking down and drowning.

It hurts.

The 10 Most Polluted Places in the World! - Duration: 16:06.

Here are some of the most polluted places in the world!

10 - North Pacific Gyre The Pacific Ocean is famously the largest

ocean in the world at a span measuring over 63.8 Million square miles.

Let me first explain to those who don't know what a gyre is.

An ocean gyre is a system of currents that sticks to a course and can flow in exactly

the same location and direction.

Isn't nature an amazing thing?

As you'd imagine, if an object is left stranded in one of these, it'll be carried with this

current for many, many years.

Because of this current in the North Pacific Gyre, this area that's also known as the

Pacific Trash Vortex makes this list.

The North Pacific Gyre is home to the world's largest pile of garbage and is topped off

regularly by garbage from the ocean's western garbage pile.

Located off the coast of Japan, the Pacific Trash Vortex can be seen off the shores between

California and Hawaii.

The floating cloud of trash comprises mainly of man-made marine debris collected over the

years of sea exploration and was first discovered as early as 1985.

The size of the patch is unknown, because large items readily visible from say, a boat

deck, are uncommon.

Most debris consists of small plastic particles suspended at or just below the surface, making

it difficult to accurately detect by aircraft or satellite.

The sheer scale of this patch hasn't yet been accurately measured, but we can safely

say it covers at least a few miles.

Estimates of its size range from 270,000 square miles, which is about the size of Texas to

more than 5.8 million square miles, or about 8% of the size of the Pacific Ocean.

9 - Sukinda, India Are you familiar with something called hex-ah-vale-ent

chromium?

If not, basically it's a man-made heavy metal and is used in the production of stainless

steel products and leather tanning.

The vital ingredient in giving these materials their strength is the metal element known

as chromium.

In September 2007, the Blacksmith Institute listed Sukinda as one of the 10 most polluted

places in the world.

However, multiple local political figures and scientists disputed the listing, claiming

that the Blacksmith Institute used outdated research.

Anyways, this particular Indian town has factories that make the products mentioned, as well

as the world's largest and highly exposed chromite ore mine, all of which pollute the

air with toxic fumes that are constantly inhaled.

60 percent of the drinking water in the area contains hexavalent chromium which is more

than double the international acceptance.

What's more interesting is that Indian health officials estimate that 84.5 percent of mine

related deaths are linked to chromium related diseases.

Supposedly, so far nothing has been done to improve living and working conditions or to

combat the levels of pollution.

8 - Kalimantan, Indonesia Kalimantan, found on the Indonesian island

of Borneo, is home to many infamous small-scale gold mines.

Gold is extracted and smelted down using the highly toxic metal, mercury.

Kalimantan is composed of five provinces.

In two of those provinces, Central and South, Artisanal Small-scale Gold Mining forms the

primary source of income for 43,000 people.

Workers and nearby locals are exposed daily to the poisonous fumes of mercury.

The fumes contaminate local waterways, and because of this, surrounding vegetation suffers.

Mercury vapors can travel long distances in the atmosphere, however, the most acute health

risks posed by these mines are more local in nature.

What's even more shocking is that some miners even carry out this dangerous work in their

family homes.

This leads to the mercury fumes becoming trapped in their homes and slowly spreading illness

between them and their families.

Additionally, mercury released during the amalgamation process before smelting is easily

released into area waterways where it can accumulate in fish and water.

Thankfully, since a survey was carried out in 2008 exposing the rising rate of mercury

related deaths, Indonesian governments have taken steps to gradually abandon the use of

mercury and make the gold mining and smelting process safer.

7 - Agbogbloshie - Accra, Ghana Agbogbloshie is the name of a trash dump.

Sure, no big surprise a dump site would be mentioned on this list, except things are

a bit different for this particular site.

Found in Ghana's capital city of Accra, Agbogbloshie is contributing to a dangerously

toxic atmosphere throughout the area.

This site is used mainly for discarding of what's known as 'e-waste', which as

you can imagine, basically means electronic garbage.

Unfortunately, extracting the valuable metals from e-waste consists of burning the rubbers

and plastics protecting it.

The mass scale of burning of these materials causes toxic vapors and leads to a highly

polluted environment.

Poisons such as lead, mercury, and arsenic, seep into the surrounding soil and water,

thereby seriously polluting the landscape.

The burning of plastics and rubbers is carried out with no protective clothing or breathing

apparatus, and is all carried out in open air.

Greenpeace labs tests have shown the water and soil from areas in Agbogbloshie contained

concentrations of toxins at levels a hundred times more than the allowable amount.

Several studies have confirmed high levels of lead in soil with particular risks to workers

and children.

Supposedly, workers in these scrap yards have been reported to only living to their mid-20s

after short careers consisting of long days of nausea, breathing problems, untreated wounds

and burns, anorexia, and inevitable cancer.

Just…..wow.

Exposure to these toxic fumes is especially hazardous to children, as these toxins are

known to inhibit the development of the reproductive system, the nervous system, and the brain

in particular.

High levels of toxins have also been discovered in soil and food samples, as these chemicals

stay in the food chain.

6 - Mediterranean Sea Surrounded by highly populated locations and

dense tourism of southern Europe and northern Africa, it's no wonder the Mediterranean

Sea is an entry on this video.

Underneath the idyllic appearance of the Mediterranean lies evidence of terribly filthy human behavior.

Underwater pipes gush out gallons and gallons of untreated sewage into the sea each year;

650 million tons, to be exact.

In addition to the sewage, 60,000 tons of toxic mercury and 4,000 tons of lead are also

dumped here, along with an estimated 129,000 tons of mineral oil annnnd, just to top it

all off, piles and piles of domestic waste and debris.

It goes without saying that the Mediterranean water has become highly contaminated and become

extremely dangerous to wildlife and beach goers.

Sadly, for its size, the mediterranean sea is classed as the most polluted sea in the

world.

This issue has been raised with the UN many times, however, with the sheer scale and the

huge amounts of contributors to the pollution, it's hard to know where to begin.

5 - Buriganga River, Bangladesh The mighty Buriganga River, responsible for

feeding and supplying the Bangladeshi capital of Dhaka, is now threatening thousands of

locals as it's now the most polluted river in Bangladesh.

Industrial waste such as oil, metallic particles, and human waste including untreated sewage

now dominates the city's waterways and are causing a life threatening level of toxins.

Environmental experts say that the river was once a highly reliable source of energy and

fuel to the people, wildlife, and the general city of Dhaka.

Really, it took environmental experts to figure that one out?

According to the Dhaka Water and Sewerage Authority about 420,000 cubic feet of untreated

waste are released every day.

Textile industries annually discharge as much as 56 million tons of waste and 0.5 million

tons of sludge.

Sewage is also released into the Buriganga.

Because of Dhaka's heavy reliance on river transport for goods, including food, the Buriganga

receives especially high amounts of food waste since unusable or rotting portions of fruits,

vegetables, and fish are thrown into the river.

The waterway is simply used by industry giants for nothing else but as a place to dump their

chemical and metallic waste.

It's been said that the pollution has become so bad that any living organism within the

river has died out.

In a wide stretch of the river, the contents of the water have turned the river into a

stream of, what's described as, a thick, black gel-like consistency.

As a result, local lives have been put at risk due to their reliance on this major waterway,

with malnutrition taking effect, and a spread of diseases infecting many who rely on its

water.

4 - La Oroya, Peru This long-time mining town in Peru suffers

with an atmosphere highly clogged with toxic fumes.

Peru's very own 'Clean Air' campaigners have listed the town as being in critical

condition.

Dangerous smelting and constructing of poly-metallic products are carried out in the town's giant

US-owned plant, Doe Run Peru, which pumps out large amounts of harmful lead.

Along with the harmful lead, 27,000 parts of sulphur dioxide are also pumped into the

air for the citizens to breathe in.

As a result of years of pollution, the hills immediately around the smelting operations

have become completely barren, the river became more toxic, and the health of area inhabitants

suffered.

Residents have been found to have alarmingly high concentrations of lead in their blood

and in the drinking water, and many have bronchial troubles.

A 1999 study showed high levels of air pollution in La Oroya, with 85 times more arsenic, 41

times more cadmium, and 13 times more lead than amounts generally considered safe.

3 - Niger Delta, Nigeria The Niger delta is at the heart of Nigeria's

oil industry, as 2 million barrels of oil are sourced by the mines every single day.

So it's unsurprising that there are side effects from producing oil near a water source.

The Department of Petroleum Resources estimated 1.89 million barrels of petroleum were spilled

into the Niger Delta between 1976 and 1996 in 4,835 incidents.

However, reports on the extent of the oil spills vary.

A United Nations Development Programme report states that there have been a total of 6,817

oil spills between 1976 and 2001, which account for a loss of three million barrels of oil,

of which more than 70% was not recovered.

Anyways, spillages, fires, and contaminations are commonplace and obviously take a huge

effect.

The oil pollution in the water can be seen for miles; a huge rainbow decorates the river

surface, while a majority of the river's water is left black.

The spillage has a major impact on the ecosystem as immense tracts of mangrove forests, which

are especially susceptible to oil have been destroyed.

The rainforest that previously occupied some 2800 square miles of land has disappeared

as well.

Wow, that's just insane…….

Spills in populated areas often spread out over a wide area, destroying crops and aquacultures

through contamination of the groundwater and soils.

The consumption of dissolved oxygen by bacteria feeding on the spilled hydrocarbons also contributes

to the death of fish.

In agricultural communities, often a year's supply of food can be destroyed instantaneously.

Because of the careless nature of oil operations in the Delta, the environment is growing increasingly

uninhabitable.

2 - Linfen, China Found in the Shanxi Province in Northeast

China, Linfen is argued as the most polluted city in the world.

A mass of coal mines opened in the city in 1978 and ever since then, coal has been highly

sought after by everyone around.

Coal is still the leader in fuel choices for many places, and it's not any different

for this city as coal is still dominant in the city.

Because of the pollution, there has been an increase in cases of pneumonia and bronchitis

– not to mention a huge rise in lung cancer – being reported in local hospitals.

However, from its low point in 2004, with only fifteen days out of the year with an

acceptable level of air pollution, the environmental situation has improved in Linfen.

After a series of negative reports on the extreme level of pollution in the city, efforts

were made to clean up the air.

Substandard mines were closed.

Coal trucks were kept from entering the city, resulting in much less coal dust.

The city has also switched much of its heating source from coal to gas.

197 large coal-fired boilers and more than 600 smaller, boilers were decommissioned.

1 - Chernobyl Exclusion Zone There's simply no escaping it, Chernobyl

is simply the most contaminated and dangerously polluted place in the world.

In 1986 Chernobyl's nuclear power station disastrously blew up because of faulty nuclear

reactors.

Because of the magnitude of the radioactive blast, farmland as far as the UK were even

contaminated by a rain of nuclear fallout.

The Exclusion Zone covers an area of approximately 1,000 square miles in Ukraine, which immediately

surrounds the Chernobyl nuclear power plant where radioactive contamination from fallout

is highest and public access and inhabitation are restricted.

The radiation level in ground zero is still very much at a critical level and can potentially

cause mass radiation poisoning and cancer.

The Exclusion Zone's purpose is to restrict access to hazardous areas, reduce the spread

of radiological contamination and conduct radiological and ecological monitoring activities.

The pollution within the zone is so bad that it's supposedly completely uninhabitable,

and recent studies are still showing signs of mutations in bugs and wildlife that live

nearby.

However, the zone is estimated to be home to 197 people living in 11 villages.

This number is in decline, down from previous estimates of 314 in 2007 and 1,200 in 1986.

These residents are senior citizens, with an average age of 63.

After many attempts at expulsion, Ukrainian authorities became reconciled to their presence

and have allowed them limited supporting services.

Residents are now informally permitted to stay by the Ukrainian government.

Today the Exclusion Zone remains one of the most radioactively contaminated areas in the

world and draws significant scientific interest for the high levels of radiation exposure

in the environment, as well as increasing interest from tourists.

Seriously, who'd want to visit?!

The Chicken or the Egg or the Dinosaur - What Came First - Duration: 5:07.

Ah the age-old argument, what came first

the chicken or the egg? If the egg came

first then what laid it, if the chicken came

first then where'd come from? This

dilemma even puzzled Aristotle who said,

"If there has been a first man he must

have been born without father or mother

which is repugnant to nature, for there

could not have been a first egg to give

a beginning too birds or there should

have been a first bird which gave a

beginning to eggs, for a bird comes from

an egg". Although it seems like scientists

have actually finally answered the

question which took long enough, only

about two and a half thousand years. An

expert panel was formed consisting of a

geneticist, a philosopher and a chicken

farmer. The philosopher on the panel said

I would argue it's a chicken egg if it

has a chicken in it. If a kangaroo laid

an egg from which an ostrich hatched

there would surely be an ostrich egg, not

a kangaroo egg. By this reasoning the

first chicken did indeed come from a

chicken egg even though that egg didn't

come from chickens. But now let's just

say that the egg is a chicken egg. Neil

deGrasse Tyson said on the argument, the

egg was laid by a bird that was not a

chicken. Well it must have been some kind

of chicken right? And now we get into

evolution. If we are looking at this from

an evolutionary perspective the egg came

first as eggs evolved before birds did.

Evolution doesn't happen quickly it's

not one generation to the next it's

thousands and thousands of generations, each

one the tiniest bit different from the

one that came before it. It's widely

believed that birds evolved from

dinosaurs and you can see this yourself

when you look at those skeletons in

museums and those little guys clucking

around. All the non-avian dinosaurs

dinosaurs which were not evolving flight

died out but many dinosaurs were

evolving so the mighty t-rex looked a

little less like this

and a little bit more like this. The

raptor look less like this and more like

this. Actually that makes it look a hell

a lot more scary looking. You see one by

one they developed bipedal locomotion,

then feathers, then a wishbone, then more

complex feathers and then they took off.

Of course all the while this was

happening they were getting smaller and

smaller. So it's widely believed that

dinosaurs look less like those monsters

from Jurassic Park and more like

overgrown chickens although to be fair

they do say that in Jurassic Park that

these are not real dinosaurs.

In fact what some

scientists are tinkering with today is

creating Dino chickens. Scientists

attempting to understand how the beak

evolved have written a paper about how

they could modify chicken beaks to grow

not beaks but Dino snouts. Another group

is attempting to grow a chicken with

dinosaur legs. But what about actually

bringing dinosaurs back to like Jurassic

Park style. Well we know the method they

use in the book and the movie, it

wouldn't work there's no way to extract

the DNA from a mosquito without taking

the mosquito DNA out too, so if you tried

to grow something from it it'd be a

weird Dino mosquito monstrosity ah Jesus

Christ kill it with fire. Famous paleontologist

Jack Horner is actually making it his

life's work to bring dinosaurs back from

the dead. He's basically the inspiration

for Alan Grant from the movie and he

also worked as a consultant on it. Now

he's digging in Hell Creek, Montana where

they found many t-rex fossils. Now they

haven't found any DNA, DNA breaks down

too quickly. DNA has a half-life of about

500 years so we're about...

65 million years too late

but what Jack Horner has found is dino

proteins in blood vessels. So what is he

working on? More dino chickens. Get a

chicken, give it a snout and teeth

instead of a beak, give it a tail, flip

its wings upside down on boom you got a

kind of dinosaur. So really we will never

be able to bring back actual dinosaurs

unless there's like the discovery of the

century pretty soon of like a fully

formed frozen dinosaur in the Antarctic

or something which is probably pretty

unlikely as, you know, 65 million years it's

long enough time. So back to our original

question what came first the chicken or

the egg? It's the egg laid by a dinosaur

that had feathers. Thanks for watching Mike out

Gala home win kicks off busy April - Duration: 2:07.

The busy schedule has begun.

The month of April is jam-packed with highlights in all competitions and on Saturday the Reds enjoyed a good start to the month

with a 6:0 home win in the Bavarian derby against Augsburg.

It's great to play after such a long time.

It's been nearly half a year.

Obviously it's even more rewarding when the team shows such a dominant performance

and such a good game.

Eight games remain in 30 days and we're concentrating

on what really matters now.

In the next few weeks we want to lay the foundation for what we hope will be a long season.

Sven Ulreich had a fairly quiet afternoon against Augsburg on Saturday

but that should change dramatically on Tuesday evening

when Bayern Munich encounters Hoffenheim.

Unfortunately Carlo Ancelotti will have to do without Thomas Müller as well as Thiago.

Müller suffered a dangerous foul against Hoffenheim and has ankle problems.

He needs a two-day break.

I have also decided to rest Thiago although he doesn't have any specific problems.

Carlo Ancelotti's team wants to maintain the gap at the top of the Bundesliga table while Thomas Wörle's FC Bayern women's team

is determined to close the gap to the top of the league.

Following the 1:0 win against SC Sand on the weekend the Bayern girls are table third,

only trailing Wolfsburg and Potsdam by four points.

Now the team needs to keep pushing because the championship is far from decided yet.

What If Earth Ran Out Of Water And Food? - Duration: 3:47.

Conservation is something we're hearing a lot about these days, because Earth has

finite resources and we're kind using them up fast.

But what if we didn't conserve?

What would happen if the Earth ran out of food and water?

So, the good news is Earth isn't going to run out of water anytime soon.

The water we have doesn't exactly do a disappearing act, it just changes state, evaporating into

the atmosphere then raining or snowing back down.

The problem is, most of that water -- about 77 percent -- is salt water water.

And the fresh water we need is mostly frozen at the poles.

But some exists in rivers and streams, which is good for us!

And those sources get replenished from rainfall, which is even better.

But as populations grow and more people rely on these sources, we have to start literally

digging into other resources, namely underground aquifers.

These subterranean wells carry us through droughts so we don't have to curb our habits,

but new climate data is showing that we're draining the largest water reserves in Africa,

Eurasia, and the Americas faster than they're replenished by rain.

So much of the groundwater we use is lost to evaporation or ends up in the oceans meaning

it doesn't get reused, and that's leaving billions of people without clean water.

Not only is there less water, but these dwindling resources don't exactly abide by geographic

boundaries.

So nations are fighting for control over limited resources, and it's sparking wars.

The conflict in the Darfur region of Sudan began as a local dispute over access to clean

water between African farmers and Arab pastoralist communities.

Then it escalated into an all-out war that has hundreds of thousands of lives and displaced

an millions since 2003.

Yemen is also seeing increased riots over access to water.

In both cases water will solve the conflict but that magical peace-bringing water doesn't

exactly exist.

And the biggest user of water, and the people feeling these shortages the most?

Farmers, the people who also bring us food.

As water becomes more scarce the price will go up, which will in turn drive up food prices.

And then we're in the same position with groups fighting for access to a vital but

limited commodity.

We're going to see food wars the same way we're seeing water wars, literally wars

over available food.

And war has a nasty habit of destroying land, meaning we could destroy all our crops in

the process, leaving us with nothing at all to share once there's peace.

But scientists are already thinking about protecting us from ourselves with seed vaults.

There are vaults all over the world that stores seeds to preserve genetic diversity of food,

and the global backup is the Svalbard Global Seed Vault as the backup in Norway.

These vaults aren't meant to supply farmers, they're intended to be a genetic resource

to breed plants in the future so we don't lose variety through war.

This will not only give us diverse food, it will give us a way to preserve our ecosystem

so we can grow the crops that sustain us.

Because without some forethought into preserving our ecosystem, well, we could go the way of

the dinosaurs.

The Earth will be fine; our planet is resilient.

Us and the environment that sustains us?

Not so much.

So unless we want a future of wars over the snacks on your desk right now, we should probably

start taking conservation initiatives seriously.
