In pursuit of making better art - Duration: 5:23.
Hello, Earthlings! You're watching Adam the Alien.
It is February...ehhh, something.
I don't know.
That doesn't matter, because we're actually going to flash back.
If you remember, back in in December I ended my holiday video with the implication that
I might have another video up before New Year's.
Obviously that did not happen.
I was reasonably sure that it WOULD, because I had cut so much out of that video that I
was just going to take a chunk and upload it as its own video.
It was a bit talking about the weird little rap I did for my Project for Awesome video...
I know that if I give it time, my life will turn around,
when another corner turns and reality rebounds.
...and a desire to make it better, and interact with you all on how to do that.
So fast forward to now, and here's that footage.
I don't know how much of this is going to hit the editing room floor, and that's gonna
be fun to find out!
It's still gonna be crap.
Speaking of crap, let's talk about...no, no.
I'm not gonna do that.
I'm actually going to talk about my Project for Awesome video this year, which...was nowhere
near as good as i really wanted make it.
But...I just, I never give myself enough time.
I never really take the time necessary to make the very ambitious ideas I want to make
a reality.
And this year was no exception.
In fact, this year —because I wanted to try do to something different from anything
I had done in previous Project for Awesome videos— I got a little too ambitious.
I got it in my head one night, "Oh!
I'm gonna write a little poem...rap...spoken word...thing."
And I started writing it, and then I finished writing it the day that I needed to record.
Soooo yeah, it didn't turn out as great as I hoped.
Uh, I've got friends saying it was great, but y'know...they're my friends.
So it's a totally fair assessment to say that...it was not the greatest, uh, presentation.
Knowing that I didn't have it memorized, I should have shot it a stanza at a time.
Instead I tried to run through it all the way a bunch of times, and that just...aaooh!
Plus, then I got it in my head that i might cover it up with some neat editing things.
And only the barest minimum of what I thought I was going to do remained in the editing,
because I was editing all night and then the Project for Awesome was gonna start.
Uuuuuugh, this chair is creaking so much!
[Fork] this chair!
Wow, that ju—no. No.
That—that should probably hit the editing room floor.
But now that I've said that, it probably won't.
Because nothing's funnier than me making an idiot out of myself.
You know that's not actually funny, right?
It's just sad.
Just sad, really.
Yeah, okay, you can go f—
Anyway...I still kind of want to DO something with at least parts of what I wrote.
Parts were very Project-for-Awesome-this-year specific.
But there are stanzas and lines in there that I think I can rework into something...better?
I would actually love, uh, feedback and suggestions on how to improve that.
Now, if you're just gonna say "you suck"...great.
Go pat yourself on the back.
You have accomplished...I don't know.
Making yourself feel more superior.
Now, moving on from that, I would actually like to be better.
[MECHANICAL FILM WHIR]
Haaaah!
My card just filled up and i had to change it because it's a wonderful month and I have
not changed the card all month, apparently.
So I've got a lot of footage to go through.
[SEAN CONNERY ACCENT] So where was I?
[SEAN CONNERY ACCENT] I don't even know what I was talking about before I had to change the card!
All seriousness, I think I was talking about
wanting to fix my little anti-suicide spoken word.
And...yeah, if anyone has any feedback about what worked or didn't work... obviously the
actual reading of it could have been a LOT better.
But, yeah, suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
And if all you have to say is "kill yourself"when someone is talking about suicide prevention?
What's wrong with you?
I don't care if it's me or someone else, but...I think you've got some
issues that you gotta work through.
And I am not saying that for my sake.
I really am saying that for yours.
Because that is some messed up sh—
That's all for now.
Let me know your input, please.
I really want serious recommendations.
I really want to take that and make it into something better.
So whatever ideas you have —serious ideas— throw 'em my way.
Until next time, I'm Adam the Alien.
Fare thee well.

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence signals United States is ready to talk with North Korea - Duration: 2:18.
Could direct talks between the U.S. and North Korea be on the horizon?
U.S. Vice President Mike Pence -- fresh from his trip to South Korea for the PyeongChang
Winter Olympics -- has reportedly said Washington is open to dialogue with North Korea.
Park Soyun reports.
The U.S. government is said to be willing to sit down for talks with North Korea.
The opportunity was reached after an understanding between the White House and President Moon
Jae-in during U.S. Vice President Mike Pence's visit for the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
Pence said South Korea and the U.S. agreed to further engage in talks with North Korea,
possibly following inter-Korean talks.
The U.S. will continue its policy of maximum pressure and continue to impose harsh sanctions
on North Korea, but at the same time be open to talks without preconditions.
Pence told the Washington Post that South Korea and the U.S. will pursue a policy of
"maximum pressure and engagement at the same time."
This marks an important change from the previous U.S. stance, which was focused mainly on maximum
pressure and confirming Pyongyang's determination for denuclearization.
Pence added the pressure campaign will intensify but the Trump administration is open to talks
if the regime shows a willingness to do so.
U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said on Monday that it's too early to judge whether
the latest developments represent the start of a new diplomatic process.
Speaking in Cairo on Monday,... Tillerson added it's "up to North Korea" to decide the
time to engage in meaningful and serious talks with the U.S.
"It's too early to judge.
As we have said for some time, it's really up to the North Koreans to decide when they
are ready to engage with us in a sincere way, a meaningful way.
They know what has to be on the table for conversations.
We've said for some time that I think it's important that we have... we are going to
need to have some discussions that precede any form of negotiation."
During his recent trip to Northeast Asia, Pence announced that the U.S. would soon unveil
its toughest ever sanctions on North Korea that may include maritime interdiction and
a naval blockade.
With the apparent shift in U.S. policy, watchers are hopeful for a significant breakthrough
in bringing peace to the Korean peninsula.

President Moon gives commencement speech to young scientists - Duration: 1:50.
President Moon Jae-in made a visit on Monday to the Ulsan National Institute of Science
and Technology.
Delivering a speech at the graduation ceremony, the president encouraged Korea's next-generation
scientists and asked them to make the nation a global powerhouse of the fourth industrial
revolution.
Hwang Hojun reports.
A total of 957 students graduated on Monday from the Ulsan National Institute of Science
and Technology in Korea's southeast.
And they were joined at the ceremony by President Moon Jae-in, who gave a commencement speech,
offering them some encouragement and pledging the government's support so they can become
the next leaders of the fourth industrial revolution and of innovative growth.
He urged the graduates to take on challenges and not to fear failure,... emphasizing that
failure can sometimes be more valuable than success and it's the driving force behind
personal growth.
It was President Moon's first commencement speech and his first visit to a university
since he was inaugurated last May.
According to a Blue House official, UNIST holds a special place in President Moon's
heart.
In fact, he helped found the institute in 2007 while serving as chief of staff to the
late President Roh Moo-hyun.
UNIST was the only state-run university in the region at the time and was converted to
a national institute in 2015.
Before the commencement ceremony, President Moon met with some UNIST students and looked
at some of the innovative products made by those receiving start-up support from the
institute.
Some of their innovations include an air purifier, a smartphone holder for bike riders, a wireless
communication device for firefighters, and a treatment patch for spinal injuries.
President Moon showed great interest and promised to help them achieve their dreams as much
as he can.

White House denies U.S.-Israel discussing settlement annexation - Duration: 0:46.
The White House has dismissed as false a claim by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
that he had discussed the possibility of Israel annexing Jewish settlements in the occupied
West Bank.
Monday's denial by the White House came just hours after Netanyahu said he had discussed
the issue with the Trump administration "for some time."
It showed a rare display of discord between the U.S and Israel after both countries enjoyed
improved relations since President Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Right-wing Israeli lawmakers are trying to push for the so-called Sovereignty Law, but
its passage could seriously harm any hope of a two state solution to the conflict between
Israel and Palestine and also spark global criticism.
