Waching daily Feb 15 2018

Fifty years ago doesn't seem like a very long time in the vast scheme of things, but things

have drastically changed since then.

The differences between the late 1960s and today go beyond the obvious.

Beauty standards in particular were shockingly different, reflecting the turbulence of the

era.

Here are some of the most surprising things that men found attractive 50 years ago.

Light skin

It's no secret that racism was rampant in the 1960s, although the Civil Rights Movement

helped to create significant change by the end of the decade.

But in spite of this progress, racial prejudice was never completely eradicated.

Take the Miss America Pageant for instance, whose rulebook explicitly stated that

"Contestants must be of good health and of the white race."

In 1968, a Miss Black America Pageant was held on the same day as the Miss America Pageant

in response to the organization's discrimination.

The Miss America Pageant finally admitted its first African-American contestant in 1970,

after Cheryl Browne was crowned Miss Iowa that year.

Even within the African-American community, a preference for lighter skin was apparent,

although this slowly began to change in the 1960s, with people embracing their natural

skin colors.

Thin, flat bodies

For a time, it looked like fuller figures would be at least an accepted standard of

beauty.

In the 1950s and early 1960s, voluptuous women like Marilyn Monroe were cultural icons.

But there was also a significant move toward slimness in the 1960s.

As Sarah Grogan wrote in Body Image: Understanding Body Dissatisfaction in Men, Women and Children,

this shift had a lot to do with the popularity of Twiggy, a rail-thin British fashion model.

As the decade wore on, curves became less desirable.

Society became obsessed with weight and exercise.

Fear of cellulite led women to go to extremes in order to slim down.

One woman who was written about in Vogue magazine in the late 1960s allegedly took 5 inches

off her waist with

"...exercise, 'standing correctly,' and using 'a special rolling pin.'"

Such regimens were typical of the late 1960s.

Were these methods effective?

Probably not all of them.

Exposed legs

In Fashion: A History from the 18th to the 20th Century, Akiko Fukai writes about how

the younger generation discovered that

"...displaying their physique was the most effective means of setting themselves apart

from the older generation."

Thus, the miniskirt came into vogue.

As hemlines rose, more attention was paid to the length and shape of a woman's legs.

The emphasis 1960s fashion placed on women's legs also had an influence on shoe styles.

Tall, pointed boots came into fashion to offset how much skin was being revealed by those

tiny skirts.

The Lolita look

The suppression of women's curves led to the popularity of a more prepubescent style.

Lithe, young-looking Lolita types like Twiggy dominated the fashion world.

Imagine Nation: The American Counterculture of the 1960's and 70's, edited by Peter Braunstein

and Michael William Doyle, explained

"...[this] look of exaggerated youthfulness expressed the associated sensibility that

maturity, in dress or behavior, was a dirty word, a sign of premature death, and therefore

something to be warded off as long as possible."

The Lolita look embodied the spirit of the era, representing youth and vigor, as well

as drawing attention the social conflict between the old and the new.

Androgyny

Coinciding with the preference for more boyish figures was the rise of unisex clothing and

androgynous styles.

Women noticeably began dressing in more masculine fashions in the 1920s.

As Rebecca Arnold wrote in Fashion, Desire and Anxiety, this style coincided with the

quest for greater independence for women, and was in direct opposition of the claustrophobic

femininity enforced by society.

Perhaps even more interesting is that this inclination towards androgyny was also adopted

by men.

PBS noted that this unisex style caused a good deal of confusion.

Everett Mattlin, a writer for the Chicago Tribune, explained in 1968 that gender roles

and the standard male-female relationship had been turned completely upside-down.

Traditional gender roles were beginning to evolve as we entered the '70s, which Mattlin

believed was a good thing.

Long, straight hair

The 60s were noted for their departure from formality and tradition.

In Fresh Lipstick: Redressing Fashion and Feminism, Linda M. Scott wrote about how the

later half of the decade was marked by a rise in long, straight hair.

Many men were also wearing their hair long at this time.

The changing hairstyles weren't just about following fashion, though.

For many, the long hair was a way to rebel against the complex female updos and the short

male haircuts of the previous generation.

Subservience

The 1960s might have been a time of change, but ads from the era show that women were

still expected to be homemakers and sex objects.

In spite of the great strides made towards gender equality, women still did not have

the same rights as men.

"Your coffee, sir."

"Thanks, beautiful!"

"You're welcome!"

It was still legal for a bank to deny an unmarried woman a credit card, and even married women

were often required to have their husbands as cosigners.

In some states, women were still banned from serving on juries throughout most of the '60s,

and most Ivy League schools didn't start accepting women until 1969, with some holding out well

into the 1970s.

In The Feminine Mystique, published in 1963, Betty Friedan summed up the frustration of

the generation.

"A woman today has been made to feel freakish and alone and guilty if, simply, she wants

to be more than her husband's wife."

Landing Brand Deals - Duration: 4:03.

- Hey, it's Lauren. - And it's Will.

And we're talking about how you can find brands that work really well with your channel

and how you can land that brand deal.

There are a ton of ways of finding sponsorships that could work on your channel.

It's important to know how to treat your channel as a business

and how to respond when brands reach out to you.

Hopefully you have your business email on your channel so people can directly

outreach to you, but if that doesn't work, there's no harm in reaching out to the brands

yourself, or signing up for a platform like Famebit, where there are brands

that are actively looking for creators to sponsor their products.

I think it's definitely important to not take every brand deal that comes your way

mostly because they might not all be right for you and your content, but also because

your time is valuable, I mean I feel like people will know right away if I'm not that

into the brand that I'm talking about, it can be pretty obvious if I'm not totally genuine.

Right, and that authenticity needs to be preserved, people trust us as creators.

What do you think is the importance of creating a brand-friendly, ready to go media kit?

That way, if any brands reach out to you, you already have something ready to go

that will present you in a professional way and give them a good idea really quickly

of what you're willing to offer them.

It starts out with just kind of a quick blurb of what I do, a little paragraph

I have some photos so that people know what I look like

and maybe what some of my craft projects look like.

I also list some ideas of different types of branded content that I've done in the past

and would like to do in the future, I also put demographic information

about who's watching my channel so they know who my audience is

and whether or not it lines up with their brand.

So when a brand reaches out to you, what do you say back?

I like to make sure all of the expectations are laid out at the beginning and I give them

exactly what kind of video I plan on creating and that lays the land

for how the brand deal's gonna go, so we can discuss expectations on video style

and any talking points that they may have.

I like to ask questions, if they have given me ideas

I can ask for either clarification, or if there's anything I'm not interested in doing

I like give them other ideas of "well I don't really feel comfortable

- with that, but what about this?" - Right.

So the age-old question, how do you price yourself?

- Honestly, it depends on the experience. - Mm-hm.

Sometimes brands come right up front and they're offering me more money

- than I ever would have asked for. - Wow.

- And in that case that's like yes, absolutely. - Let's do it.

Let's go, but a lot of times I either have to negotiate up to higher amount because a lot of

my own videos are very work-intensive, and I need to make sure that just my expenses

at the very least are covered, this could take me a month

- Exactly. - solid.

Yeah, I feel like it matters campaign by campaign, there's the traffic and the numbers

that you can provide to them, but then there's also the assessment

of the content that I'm creating, so both of those affect how I price myself.

Something that I think brands don't realise is that there is a lot of work that goes into

the videos that we create, there's a lot of set-up

there's a lot of supplies that you need, so when you have a brand that comes to you

and says "hey, we love what you do," feel free to negotiate.

What I do is, whatever number in my head

feels like the right amount for the amount of work that they need me to do

I usually give them that.

Over time I've gotten better about knowing what would work

for each individual brand deal, but in the beginning it's so hard to know.

Yeah, exactly, it's a learning process, I'm willing to accept a deal that may

have a lower fee because it's so perfect for my channel.

- Yeah. - But then if something might be perfect

there's a lot of asks for the brand, there's a lot of social follow-ups, I might

raise the price because that is a lot of extra work that they're having me do

Thanks so much for watching, be sure to like and subscribe

And keep an eye out for part 3, where we're gonna talk to a brand ambassador.

Thanks for watching Lifetree Kids!

Awwhh.

It's our last day at VBS.

If that makes you so sad you can't bear it, well then hold on.

I'm Yeddy, your best bear buddy.

I may look like bears from North America, but I'm a little smaller and you only find

me up on the high mountains near the Himalayas.

In fact, I'm a Himalayan brown bear!

Like most bears, we spend a lot of time looking for food and sleeping in the sun.

But we also spend a lot of our time hibernating.

We curl up in our comfy caves for several months.

It makes me sleepy just thinking about it.

I love my warm, cozy cave home.

You know, Jesus made a promise in the Bible about a special home for you.

Jesus said he'd go and make a home for you, one that would last forever.

When Jesus died on the cross and came back to life, he showed that God has the power

to love us forever.

And because God is stronger than death, you can live with God in heaven.

The Bible book of John chapter 3, verse 15 says this about Jesus, "Everyone who believes

in him will have eternal life."

You have the hope of an incredible heavenly home, one that never ends because God has

the power to love us forever.

"Get to the point" and other common expressions in English - Duration: 4:30.

Hi everyone. It's Jennifer here with some useful expressions for everyday English.

Have you ever heard someone talk and talk, and you wished they would just get the point?

I'm guilty of not coming to the point right away when I talk and when I write.

I like to provide background information, so I don't always state the main things first.

To GET to the point or to COME to the point means you say or write your most important idea immediately.

We can use these variations for emphasis:

get right to the point, come straight to the point.

When we write email or text someone, we usually get right to the point and we don't waste words.

Can you think of another situation when it's important to come straight to the point?

A similar expression is to get to the heart of the matter.

However, telling someone, "Get to the point" OR "I wish you'd get to the point" …sounds impatient. So be careful not to be rude.

In contrast, if I suggest, "Let's get to the heart of the matter," I'm showing more sensitivity.

At least, that's how I hear it.

"To get to the heart of the matter" is to identify the central issue, the main problem.

If your friend is terribly upset and trying to explain why,

it may take some tears and a good amount of talking before you get to the heart of the matter.

In a work situation, you might choose a different expression: to get to the bottom of something. This is similar to our previous expression.

When you get to the bottom of a matter, you work to discover the reason or cause of a problem because you want to fix it.

If a problem appears at work, you can lead your colleagues into action and say:

Let's get to the bottom of this. Let's figure out what went wrong.

An equivalent expression is get to the root of the problem or to get to the root of a matter.

If production is going down or if sales are dropping, a company needs to get to the root of the problem and take corrective action.

It's time for you to put these expressions into use. Choose one and write an example in the comments.

I'll offer corrections as time allows. Please help one another by reading and commenting on other examples.

If you enjoy learning common expressions that you can use in everyday English, please let me know and like this video.

And by the way, do you know about sponsorhips?

Well, I'll get right to the point and tell you that by sponsoring my channel, you're helping me continue my work on YouTube.

PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS M16A4 NEW STATS PC 1.0 - MAJOR CHANGES (PUBG M16A4 UPDATE) - Duration: 6:43.

The PC 1.0 version of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds changed the game's ballistics system.

All of our favourite weapons now have new stats and features that change the way they

are best played.

Today, we will checkout all the new changes of the M16A4.

I will show you everything that you need to know about this weapon and we will look for

the hidden information that will show us how we can unlock its full potential.

The M16A4 is rated at 44 damage points like all of the 5.56 assault rifles in PUBG.

Those of you who have been playing PUBG for a long time probably remember that this rating

used to be 41, so these weapons became more effective.

Different parts of the body have specific hit areas, this was one of the changes that

came with the PC 1.0 update.

Let's take a closer look at how much damage an M16A4 will do for every hit area on the

body.

The M16A4 will damage most of an unarmored torso with 44 points per shot.

If you hit the upper chest, it will deal more damage, 48.4 points to be precise.

Shooting the belly button are with the M16A4 will do slightly less damage with 41.8 points.

If an enemy isn't armored, the m16A4 will kill him with 3 shots.

The gun will need one extra shot if the enemy's has Level 1 vest.

The same is true for an enemy with a Level 2 vest, but the M16A4 can keep the shot-to-kill

count at 3 if you shoot the upper chest.

This gun will need to hit an enemy with a level 3 vest 6 times to the body before he

dies, but it will need one shot less if you aim for the upper chest.

The M16A4 will deal 101.2 points of damage to an enemy's head if he doesn't have

a helmet, killing him with one shot.

If he has a Level 1 or 2 helmet, then you will need to land an extra headshot to make

a kill.

If your enemy has a level 3 helmet, then you will need to shoot his head three times in

order to kill him.

Helmets now protect the neck as well, so it's important to know that this gun can deal 75.9

damage points to your enemy's throat if he doesn't have a helmet, This will kill

him in two shots.

The M16A4 will need to land one extra shot to the enemy's neck if he has a level 2

or 3 helmet.

This gun can damage biceps and thighs with 23.8 damage per shot, and your enemy can only

take 5 shots there before dying.

Each shot from the M16A4 does 19.8 damage to your enemy's forearms and shins, and

kill him in 6 shots.

If he takes those shots to the hands and feet, then your gun will deal 11.9 damage for each

one, so that will kill him in 9 shots.

The M16A4 used to have a fire rate of 0.08 seconds per shot, but this was improved to

the point that the gun now has the highest fire rate of all the assault rifles at 0.075.

Shooting 13 bullets per second, the gun deals 587 Damage per Second, losing only to the

Groza's 613 dps.The M16A4 reloads very quickly at 2.2s, and that results in a sustained DPS

rating of 297, which is the highest SDPS for all assault rifles.

An M16A4 has a spread rating of 0.10, which is bigger than the 0.08 rating that the all

the other 5.56 weapons have.

While the gun kicks back harder, you won't need to lead your target as much thanks to

its effective range of 400 and bullet speed of 900.

The M16A4 can only accept mags, sights, and muzzle attachments.

Its fast reload can be enhanced with an Extended, Quickdraw, or Extended Quickdraw mags.

A compensator, a flash hider, or a suppressor can be fixed to the gun's muzzle.

While the M16A4 can accept scopes up to a 4x, it used to be compatible with the 8x,

but not anymore.

The bullet speed and range were great for this weapon with the 8x on, but the developers

decided to change this because it probably made the M16A4 too powerful.

This gun has a few secrets and features that won't show up on a spreadsheet.

For example, the M16A4 causes a moderate amount of flinch.

It's not as powerful as the AKM's, but also not as weak as the M416.

It makes your enemy flinch less than if you were shooting with the SCAR L but the difference

is almost impossible to distinguish.

The M16A4 only has 2 firing modes, single and burst.

You might think that this weapon is less good in close range firefights, but this is simply

not the case.

The delay between bursts is the same as the delay between shots, so all you need to is

to keep tapping your mouse to enjoy this gun's fire rate.

A burst to the chest or neck can kick the M16A4 back high enough to have one or two

shots land on the head.

It will take some practice, as getting used to burst firing is a bit tricky, but once

you get the hang of it you'll be taking down enemies with ease.

Unlike the SCAR L and the M416, this gun looks very good on paper.

It has the 2nd highest reload speed, the 2nd highest DPS, and the 2nd highest bullet speed.

It has the highest SDPS, the highest effective range, and the highest rate of fire.

The M16A4 cannot accept custom stocks and fore grips.

This doesn't look like much on paper, but make no mistake, it's a very significant

weakness.

You always have to deal with recoil in full force unless you have a compensator.

In the late stages of the game where stealth and silence can be crucial advantages, you'll

have to give up the only attachment that the M16A4 can take to reduce its recoil.

On top of that, there is a huge chance that your enemies will be carrying SCAR Ls and

M416s that are fully equipped with attachments that help manage the recoil, attachments that

you simply cannot use if you stick with the M16A4.

Don't think that the gun is destined to lose, though.

Recoil can be managed with practice, so it will be up to your skills to compensate for

the recoil disadvantage.

While it isn't as easy to use as other fully kitted assault rifles, it still performs very

well in short to medium range firefights.

In fact, this weapon truly shines in short to mid range fights, especially in the early

stages of the game.

Without attachments, the other assault rifles don't come close.

If you practice using burst fire correctly, your M16A4 will be placing your shots at the

enemies head for you.

Make sure you keep that extended quickdraw mag handy, because you will want to benefit

from the close range advantages as much as possible.

The M16A4's very fast bullet speed and excellent effective range will make it easy for you

to fire off shots at an enemy before he can figure out where you're shooting from.

This is especially true if you have a flash hider or a suppressor.

These were all the adjustments made to the M16A4 when the 1.0 update came out.

Use all of the info that you saw in this video so that you can win your next Chicken Dinner

with m16a4.

The next video will take an indepth look at the AKM and the changes that were made to

that weapon, so make sure to subscribe so that you will be the first one to know about

it.

This was FOG of GAMING, thanks for watching and i will see you in Battlegrounds.

Let's Talk About Gun Control Loopholes - Duration: 1:42.

School Shooting.

Shooting at a school.

Another School Shooting.

Ever wonder why gun control isn't getting fixed?

You're about to find out.

A USA Today report has revealed that the FBI issued orders to seize more than 4,000 guns

last year from people who failed background checks.

Thousands of people were able to purchase guns despite having criminal records, mental

health issues, or other disqualifications.

So, how did this happen?

It's all thanks to a major loophole within one of our country's strongest gun control measures.

Anyone looking to buy a gun needs to pass a background check

But here's the catch: If dealers don't hear back from the FBI within THREE days of

requesting the check, under federal law, they're allowed to go ahead and sell the gun anyway.

If it turns out later that the person hasn't passed the background check, then the FBI

issues an order to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) to

take back the guns.

That's right -- take BACK the guns they already gave to the potentially crazy criminals

with a history of violence.

Can you imagine getting your drivers license BEFORE you've actually passed the test?

Merge! Merge! Merge! Merge! Stop you're freaking me out!

Which can take awhile, since there's no electronic database of gun-owners, thanks

This 3-day loophole is also part of federal law.

It's the same loophole that allowed white supremacist Dylann Roof to buy a gun and murder

nine churchgoers in Charleston, South Carolina in 2015.

The FBI later revealed that it had failed to detect Roof's arrest for drug possession

-- a charge that would have disqualified him from buying the gun in the first place.

Of course, not all gun owners are criminals.

But it's clear how easy it is for them to fall in the wrong hands.

Do you think the FBI and the ATF are doing a good job cleaning up these messes?

For UPROXX, I'm Steve Vasquez.

Bolt, but triggers an electromagnetic pulse on impact which disables all deployables within

a small area for a short duration Hunter's also carrying a brand new machine

pistol, compact pistol and melee weapon.

Hunter has a lot of flexibility in how he engages the enemy, and the ability to disrupt

DBS Teases The Ending Of The Tournament of Power | FBN Hot News - Duration: 4:32.

DBS Teases The Ending Of The Tournament of Power

Hey guys.

I'm here with a rather interesting news about the ending of the Tournament of Power.

We hardly have any time before the curtains come down on the much awaited conclusion of the Tournament of Power.

We are down to the final two Universes in the ToP.

Universe 7 and Universe 11 have been the been the remaining two universes for quite some time now.

However, the fight is reaching its climax as well.

Just four fighters remain in the Tournament of Power.

Jiren is the sole survivor from Universe 11.

But, he still remains unfazed by the fact that he is outnumbered three to one.

The most recent elimination was that of Android 17.

According to the spoilers for the next episode, Vegeta will follow suit and he will be eliminated as well from the Tournament of Power.

This has left us with a huge question, can Universe 7 really win the Tournament of Power? Normally, one would expect that Universe 7 will probably falter but it looks that Universe 7 might actually be winning the ToP.

There has been a picture which has been circling around the internet, which shows DBS voice actors after the Japanese voice recording of Episode 131.

It is the final DBS episode that will air on March 31.

In the photo, there were the voice actors of Vados and Cabba.

The voice actor of Vados is not surprising but the voice actor of Cabba was also present.

Now that will be raising quite a few eyebrows here and there.

The inclusion of Cabba may have hinted that Universe 6 has been resurrected after the battle between Universe 7 and Universe 11 concluded.

The winners of the ToP will receive the Super Dragon Balls.

Right now it's just a speculation but it is pretty solid.

We have already seen that both Gokū and Vegeta had taken interest in the Saiyans from Universe 6.

Vegeta even told Cabba that he will win the Super Dragon Balls and bring them back so that he can visit Planet Sadala.

Gokū was really interested in Caulifa and Kale, and he even taught them how to use Super Saiyan 2.

As it stands, Goku is probably going to be the MVP of the Tournament of Power and he will probably ask for the entire Universe 6 to revived.

Of course, this is my own personal opinion but I think that it is really going to happen.

All we can do right now is wait.
