Why I Almost Quit Interpreting! ⎮ ASL Stew - Duration: 8:32.

Hello, I'm Jill. This is ASL Stew!

(hand slap) ♪♪♪

♪♪♪

So today I kind of wanted to tell you a story,

the reason I almost quit interpreting.

Yeah, so I actually almost...

was really, really close to want to quit interpreting just overall.

You might be wondering why

because I'm involved in this channel

and I support interpreting that way.

I interpret at a school and a lot,

but I kind of wanted to warn people,

or a PSA for all of you interpreters especially young interpreters.

Not to I guess get stuck or make a mistake like I did.

Let me explain.

So let me start with when I graduated from my interpreter training program, my ITP.

Um, I was getting close to graduating

and I was starting to look for potential work.

At that time I was living... let me think 2009...

so I think Jenna and I were living together at that time.

I was I guess the main bread winner.

She was working too, but I needed to have stable work.

Cause we had rent and things like that.

So around that time I was trying to look for work

and I graduated from RIT.

So I thought maybe I would try to get a job there full-time,

nice benefits as staff, stuff like that.

But back then, in 2009, they had what's called a hiring freeze.

So for a couple years they were not hiring anyone, no interpreters at all.

So that option was out.

I could freelance and do quite a bit of work there,

but it's not necessarily stable work.

If a student quit working...

I mean if a student quit their school,

then that means my work's done.

Um, but whatever it wasn't stable.

Then I decided to go ahead and apply for VRS work.

Now I had just graduated... well I was soon to graduate from my ITP

and most people would say don't work VRS.

It's too hard. It's not a good fit for a recent graduate.

But I decided to discuss with a former mentor

and some other people that I know

to see if they thought I was ready and everything.

Everyone I spoke to said yes I was.

So I went ahead and applied

and I'm not gonna say which company,

but that's not important.

But I applied and I got hired.

I started working so to speak "full-time".

Back then that company didn't have full-time work with benefits and stuff.

But I was working pretty much 24 to 28 hours a week doing VRS work.

Then I had other freelance work on the side at RIT.

So then as I was going along,

I would say maybe less than five years later,

I decided... well understand... let me back up.

The money is really good for VRS.

I'm gonna be totally honest, it's really good money.

Way better than freelance, better than university/staff,

K-12 definitely.

And it's easy to get a lot of hours.

I mean you can work a ten hour day.

So it's really easy.

Whereas in freelance it's harder.

But anyways, so I was going along working

and I noticed that I wasn't as happy as I was before.

Working freelance and doing that I really enjoyed it.

But I just felt like something wasn't right.

Like maybe I wasn't a good fit for interpreting.

I mean I did know I had good skill, but I don't know.

Then I just started to really, really hate work.

I didn't like interpreting. I didn't want to go to work.

I just felt crabby and I don't know, I was having a lot of issues.

I thought, well maybe I just don't want to be an interpreter anymore.

Maybe I just want to work with Deaf people,

or do sign language but in a different field.

So I actually went back to school,

not at RIT but a different local university.

Went through there and got a second Bachelor's degree.

It took me two years part time.

So I got my Bachelor's degree in anthropology.

Got that, thought maybe I'd be involved in archaeology

cause I had actually went and done a dig in Jordan, the country of Jordan.

I really liked it, or I thought

maybe just do something in general with anthropology,

maybe get a Master's (degree).

But then I started thinking.

Why do I want to stop interpreting?

I have skill and some things I like.

What is it that I just don't like right now?

So I really took a look at myself and I thought you know what,

I just don't like VRS work.

Again, it's not the company I worked for.. they're great.

But just in general, the VRS industry does not fit me at all.

For some people it's great.

They really enjoy it and work for many years,

but for me, I just didn't like it to be honest.

I'm not gonna say the reasons, it's not important.

But I realized that I wanted to quit interpreting

because I was working almost full-time in a niche that I didn't like.

That meant mentally I wasn't happy.

So I decided I needed to switch to a different type of interpreting.

At that time RIT was hiring

and so it took me a few times.

I applied multiple times, but finally I was hired.

Now in general I feel a lot more happy.

Obviously we all have bad days or whatever,

but I just realized that it's not that I don't like interpreting,

I just don't like that niche of interpreting.

So I guess I wanted to tell you this story just to warn you

whether you're young and in an ITP, graduating,

few years, or many years experience, it really doesn't matter.

If you're feeling just not satisfied, "I don't like interpreting", "I'm not happy",

first take a step back and think about it.

Is it because you don't like your work?

Maybe you're in K-12 and now you feel like

"I don't like interpreting anymore".

Maybe you need to switch to university work, or freelance,

or medical, or try and work so you can do legal, or VRS, something.

There's so many different options for work right now!

Don't quit right away or switch to a totally different field.

I mean if you want to, that's perfectly fine.

You do not have to interpret for the rest of your life.

But just think about it first.

So that is the story of why I almost quit interpreting.

I'm curious, have any of your guys had a similar story, experience.

You almost stopped interpreting?

Wanted to quit and then continued anyways?

What is your story?

I'm just curious if anyone else has had the same experience as I have.

Top 5 Scary Facts About The Zombie Drug – Flakka - Duration: 3:24.

Drugs are bad.

Don't do them.

Were told all kinds of horror stories about drugs- and heres one more.

Hey guys im court mcginley and welcome back to the most amazing top 5.

Before we get started on todays video I want to know what the scariest thing you've ever

done?

Let me know your answer down in the comments.

Also don't forget to subscribe to this awesome channel if you havnt already and make sure

you show us some love by giving this video a big thumbs up.

Alright without further a due lets get started on our list of the top 5 scary facts about

the Zombie drug Flakka.

Coming in at number 5--Stronger than cocaine- yeah—one extremely scary fact about this

drug is that its actually 10 times stronger than cocaine.

That's why it makes people that are on it so dangerous.

Its so strong that if you take over 0.1 grams of it at a time you can overdose.

Some people refer to this drug as $5 insanity- this is because that's the price you have

to pay to get enough of this drug to affect you as much as 80 dollars worth of cocaine

would.

Yeah its extremely cheap.

And as you know when it comes to drugs- cheap and powerful is never a good combination.

Not to mention this drug is also really addictive.

In at number 4--painless- One reason this drug is so sought after- aside from being

cheap is that it stops you from feeling pain while youre on it.

Someone posted this video online- its of a man who is high on flakka and hes shown up

to the hospital with a bullet wound in his face.

But as youll tell by the footage its as if this man didn't even know he was shot.

Hes walking backwards with his spine arched- laughing and growling- yeah its pretty creepy

take a look.

Editors the links in the script- its all pretty fucked up so just use 10 seconds of the video

from anywhere in it.

https://youtu.be/T74cN9SHeZQ at number 3--Super strength- one of the side

effects of this drug is that it gives the user super strength.

Somehow this drug can give people superhuman strength.

We all have a lot of strength deep within us- we just arnt able to access it- kind of

like that situation when a mother all of a sudden can lift a car up off of her child.

You just need something inside you to trigger that power- well this drug can do that.

After smoking Flakka a man named James West tried to break into police headquarters in

Fort Lauderdale.

He tried to break the hurricane proof glass by kicking it- smashing it with rocks and

finally trying to tear the door off its hinges.

An officer said he actually almost succeeded too- he said his force was so strong that

when he pulled hecould actually see the doors shaking.

Apparently the man became paranoid that cars were trying to run him over and wanted the

police to help.

Coming in at number 2--Suicide- So Flakka not only causes its users to negatively effect

others but it also makes its users a danger to themselves.

This drug will most likely overwhelm users with feelings of depression and suicidal thoughts.

Its not uncommon for people to lose all sense of value of human life while on this drug.

One case where this happened was with a man named John Hummel Jr.

He began taking the drug- which caused paranoia- which resulted in him calling his mother saying

crazy things- such as the cops are chasing me - their helicopters are overhead.

His mother tried to calm him down but it was no use.

He was soon after found dead in a hotel closet- he was hanging from the ceiling with an electrical

cord around his neck.

And in at number 1--Kill- yeah pretty much the worst thing about this drug is that it

makes people kill.

This drug actually rewires the brain chemistry.

People on this drug have no control over their thoughts or actions.

One of the extremely popular cases of someone on this drug that made it all over the news

was that of Leroy Strothers.

He took a gun – got naked and climbed up onto his roof and began to shoot his neighbours.

He had later told police that when this happened he had taken Flakka.

He also told police that he somehow became convinced that a gang was outside trying to

murder his family.

And there you have it that's our list of the top 5 scary facts about the Zombie drug

Flakka.

Thank you guys so much for watching- don't forget to show us some love by giving this

video a big thumbs up and ill catch you in the next one.

What If All Cats Disappeared? - Duration: 5:11.

CATS.

CATS CATS CATS.

Love them or hate them, cats are undeniably pretty great.

Fluffy little villains going through life knocking this off shelves, just cause they

can.

Ah, cats.

…. But what if they all upped and left us on this sordid, doomed earth.

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions.

I am Rebecca Felgate and today we're asking What if all cats disappeared?

Before we get started I just want to remind you guys to keep on hitting that thumbs up

button if you like our content and to click on the notification bell if you don't want

to miss a video.

Also leave me a comment and let me know whether or not you think cats are evil.

I think they are, but I also think we kinda need them.

Here is why.

Cats are savage and successful hunters.

Apparently, cats collectively kill 3.7 billion birds and 20.7 billion small mammals each

year.

That is a lot.

Like…a lot lot.

Cats are up there among the best hunters in the animal kingdom and without them there

would literally be billions more rodents, and that isn't great for a plethora of reasons.

Without cats to cull them, rodent populations would swell…and that is good news for no

one.

Firstly, mice and rats are hungry wee beasties who have no respect for our crops.

Rodents would run riot and eat a lot of our crops, which would be bad news for hungry

humans.

The number of rodents on earth already outnumber humans, but when they're steppin on our

food supply, we really have a problem.

Right now, as is, female rats alone can have up to 2000 babies each year.

Who knows what stats those sneaky mice are pumping out too.

Without cats, well… no need to reiterate the point….

One thing worth highlighting, though, is that rodents carry disease.

Plague anyone?

European cities were overrun with rats back in ye old 14 hundreds and these nasty little

critters spread the plague like wild fire.

In fact, one of the best things to happen to London was the great fire of the 1600s

that actively destroyed most of the cities rats.

Without cats to cull these disease spreaders, humans would be in for a world of sickness

and discomfort.

For example, as well as plague, rats carry HPS and LCMV, which may just sound like letters

to you, but can make you very sick… like permanent liver and Kidney damage sick.

And the worst part is, that you don't need to physically touch a rat to get really really

sick, breathing in air in areas of rat urine and faeces is enough to get you.

GREAT.

So, actually, we kind of don't even really need to hypothesis when it comes to what a

world without cats would be like.

There is a real life case study in the form of Macquarie Island.

So in 1985, Australian scientists decided to euthanize the island's cats in order

to protect native burrowing birds.

Over the course of the next 24 years, they found that they had managed to wreak an unexpected

havoc on the island.

They found that the island's rabbits were breeding like…err…rabbits… and eating

too many of the islands plants, grazing it bare.

Meanwhile, the islands newly increased rodent population started eating the chicks of the

birds they were trying to protect in the first place.

Chaos.

A wider question too… if all cats disappeared….would this apply to big cats also?

No more lions, tigers, cheaters and panthers.

Gone.

Those Serengeti watering holes would be a whole different kind of party.

My point being, altogether, taking out an entire species from the food chain is bad

news on all fronts.

The world ecosystem has found a balance, and disturbing the force inevitably leads to some

kind of dark side.

But …. One question….

If all cats disappeared… like….Where did they go?

Like… are they living a better life in a far off land?

Did Douglas Adams get the whole Dolphin thing wrong?

Is it cats that jettison out of here before its too late?

Seriously though, without cats…yeah we'd all be doomed to famine and disease, but like…

think of the state of the internet?!

No more grumpy cat, no more keyboard cat, and no more cats vs cucumbers.

What even is this alternate universe?

I don't like it.

Sure, without the murderous little tricksters, the world might be a bit less evil, but cats

are the kind of schemers we need.

Cats are better than rats.

Say it with me now….

Cats are better than rats.

So next time fluffy nuzzles up to your leg looking to take advantage of your good will…

just be a good sport and love the tiny little jerk, cause we need them….more than they

need us.

So that is one big question answer for you there…would you like to live in a world

without cats?

Are you are a cat person or a dog person?

Are dogs fundamentally better than all cats….well..that sounds like a whole new episode of Life's

Biggest Questions.

Thanks for joining me….

Woman Cuts Off Pinky Finger To Wear As A Necklace - Duration: 7:01.

Woman Cuts off her Pinky finger to wear it as a necklace.

Yep this happened.

Personally I like my pinky fingers on my hands..but you know I guess that's not for everyone.

Torz Reynolds is a 30 year old body piercer from Essex.

So one day she decided to cut off the top of her little finger with bolt cutters because

she thought the tip of her pinky finger would look cute as a necklace.

For the past year shes kept her finger tip in her freezer but has recently taken it out

and has put the frozen finger in a pendant necklace.

So yeah her pinky finger is now in a glass vial filled with alcohol solution attached

to a chain.

Now she refers to her extra tiny pinky as wiggles.

She even decorates the pinky stumb with little hats.

Yeah guys- I couldn't make this up if I tried.

Wiggles the little pinky finger wears hats.

Theres actually quite a selection to choose from as well- we have a police officers hat-

a cowboy hat- a construction hat- heck even a Viking hat for when Wiggles is feeling extra

festive.

About this Torz said- The hats were presented by my boyfriend for Wiggles birthday.

I thought it was brilliant.

About cutting off her finger she said she decided to do it after one of her friends

did it.

She would even often practice bending her finger back to see if she could live without

it.

Torz recalled that she and her boyfriend had a nice dinner and then she chopped it off.

But don't worry she numbed the finger first so the pain wasn't too bad.

Well so long as shes happy..i guess.

Hey guys welcome back to LP im Court McGinley.

I hope youre having a wonderful weekend so far.

Let me know what you've been getting up to down in those comment.

Ive been getting ready to go on a trip so im super excited for that.

Also if youre not a member of the LP family yet then make sure you hit that like button

and show us some love by giving this video a big thumbs up.

And as always we have a lot of interesting news stories headed your way so without further

a due lets get started.

--Next we have an update in the Florida school shooting.

Nikolas Cruz says that Demon voices told him how to pull off the school shooting.

The 19 year old says he heard voices inside his head telling him to carry out the massacre.

Cruz's legal team have confirmed that he suffers from autism- depression and other

psychological issues.

Its also now being reported that officers were called to Cruzs family home 39 times

since 2010.

They were called regarding emergencies including – mentally ill person- child elderly abuse-

domestic disturbance and a missing person.

Cruz no longer lives with his parents as his adoptive mother passed away in November and

his father died years before due to a heart attack.

Cruzes legal team have said- Cruz is sad.

Hes mournful.

Hes remorseful.

He is aware of what is going on and hes just a broken human being.

He is dealing with the shock of all that is going on.

This shooting is the 18th to have occurred at an American school this year and is the

3rd deadliest in US history.

-Also in regards to this attack we have a story about a teacher who managed to save

the lives of her students.

Mrs Shan-thi Vis-wana-than- referred to as Mrs. V by her students knew something bad

was happening when the fire alarm rang for the second time that day.

So instead of following protocol she made her students crouch on the floor and placed

a piece of paper over the window of the classroom door so no one could see inside the room.

One of the mothers of her students said that thanks to Mrs. Vs intuition and quick thinking

she was able to save the lives of the students in her class.

Mrs. V was so focused on saving the kids in her classroom that she even refused to open

the door for the SWAT team as she feared it could have been the gunman just trying to

get into the room.

To them Mrs. V said- Knock it down or open it with a key.

Im not opening the door.

The SWAT team actually had to smash through a window in order to gain entry into the classroom.

Its absolutely amazing she did this so she could protect her students.

To the students who unfortunately wernt so lucky and lost their lives to this tragic

attack our thoughts go out to their families.

--There is also another adult who risked his life to save students and that was the assistant

football coach and security guard Aaron Feis.

Sadly he was one of the 17 people who was shot and killed in the high school shooting.

Aaron apparently jumped right between a student and the shooter before pushing her thorough

the door to escape the line of fire.

This is when he was shot.

Many students at the school are calling this man a hero as he was killed while protecting

students.

The school football team tweeted out- He died a hero and he will forever be in our hearts

and memories.

Also being the security guard- it was Aaron who responded to the original code-red call

on the schools walkie-talkies.

Aaron is survived by his wife and their daughter.

And our hearts go out to them.

What this man did to save his students is the most unselfish act someone could do.

--Next- Drake was given a 1 million dollar budget for his new music video but he decided

to give it away to those who need it.

The video for the song gods plan was recently released.

The video starts off explaining that the team was give a budget of just under 1 million

to make the video.

But instead of spending it on an overblown vanity project Drake gave away every last

cent to help people who needed it.

He paid for peoples groceries- donated 50 thousand dollars to a students college tuition

fees and supported struggling families.

Some people are saying this was just a PR stunt.

But even if it was that doesn't take away from the fact that he helped change peoples

lives for the better- and the fact he did that was amazing.

--Next- a huge asteroid could be coming to earth.

NASA has been tracking an asteroid that's larger than the Gloden gate bridge and warns

it could approach earth in the next few weeks.

Experts are saying that its approaching at speeds of 14 thousand 92 miles per hour.

Just to give you an idea of how fast that is its over 3 times faster than the hypersonic

plane North America X-15-- which currently holds the record for being the quickest manned

aircraft ever- at 4 thousand 520 miles per hour.

The asteroid zoomed by on February 3rd.

But dont worry NASA is paying close attention to it as they consider it enough of a risk

that its been placed under review in thier Close Approached Data section.

We will keep you guys up to date on this story.

--Next- a time traveller shares photo from the year 2118.

Alexander Smith claims that back in the 80s he travelled to 2118 and he has a picture

to prove it.

And he didn't only travel to the future once- oh no apparently there were a couple

times.

He claims he went to the future as a part of a top secret CIA mission.

He said that as far as he knew this was one of the first times that time travel had been

successfully completed.

The picture hes using as proof appears to be of a futuristic city.

Alex has made it clear that hes risking his life even talking about this but that the

world needs to know.

About this he said- Aliens do visit us.

There are intelligent extra- terrestrials that do come to Earth this is in the mid 21st

century.

When the aliens do arrive they will visit the worlds top officials.

Currently the aliens don't necessarily live among us but they do visit from time to time.

Let me know down in the comments- Do you think Alexander really travelled to the future of

nah.. let me know your thoughts below.

--Next the Incredibles 2 full trailer is finally here.

So its been 13 years since the first incredibles film hit theaters and now we are finally getting

a sequel.

So far we have gotten little sneak peeks and a teaser trailer But this new trailer will

give us our first indication of what the plot of this movie will actually be.

The animation studios used the Winter Olympics to unveil the newest trailer.

At the time of this recording this trailer is currently the number 1 trending thing on

YouTube and it has over 12 million views.

Heres a peek of the trailer- can you show Incredibles 2 is set to hit theaters June

15th.

9 Genuine Signs of Intelligence That People Can't Fake – How Man - Duration: 5:50.

9 Genuine Signs of Intelligence That People Cant Fake How Many Do You Possess

Do you consider yourself to be an intelligent person?

Have you been applauded for your creativity and smartness even after having a score sheet

that says Below Average?

If no, then you need to reconsider your definition of Intelligence.

It is a sad truth that our education system focuses too heavily on marks and grades everyone

on the same scale.

This type of system is never able to identify true intelligence.

There are kids who are able to mug up all the details and put it all out on the test,

they get an A in the test and are considered as highly intelligent by everyone.

Whereas, a kid having a B or a C can also be equally or even more intelligent

than the kid who is supposedly intelligent!

As Einstein once famously said that our education system tests everyone to like- Testing

the ability of a monkey, a fish, and an elephant to climb a tree!

Well clearly, this type of system cannot tell you if you are smart or not.

So we have compiled a list of some subtle signs of intelligence.

See for yourself where you stand!

1) YOU ARE EMPATHETIC TOWARDS OTHERS.

Psychologists now believe that having a high emotional quotient is very important to be

called an intelligent person.

Intelligent people are generally in tune with the emotions of the people around them.

You are super aware of things in your surroundings and thus you can catch any energy nearby.

Empathy connects two people at a very personal level and thus to be able to do so, a high

level of intelligence is very necessary.

2) YOU UNDERSTAND HOW MUCH YOU DONT KNOW This means that you are a true learner, a

person who is open to new ideas and new things.

Your inner tendency to learn more allows you to look at all the tangential aspects of an

issue.

You are never afraid of accepting your mistakes and of learning new things every day.

Also, by being open-minded, you are able to make a well-informed choice and thus are able

to defend your view better.

This clarity of idea makes you feel safer, as you know where you are standing.

3) CURIOSITY RUNS YOU.

Many studies have proved that a curious and an open child is more likely to become a more

intellectually curious person later in his/her life.

Curiosity not only gives knowledge but also new experiences.

4) YOU DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE OR OVERESTIMATE YOURSELF.

You must have encountered people, who think they know everything.

They develop a very biased viewpoint about everything.

The thing with these people is that they are not able to grow fully as an individual.

In a study, it was proved that less intelligent people overestimate their cognitive abilities.

5) YOU ARE AN EXPERT IN SARCASM AND RANDOM SILLY JOKES

It might be surprising to know that people making silly jokes are much more likely to

be Intelligent than an average human.

One reason behind this can be that only an intelligent person can improvise on the go.

6) YOU EMBRACE SOLITUDE AND AVOID UNNECESSARY ACTIONS OR CONVERSATIONS.

Since ancient times, people have believed that the ones who do not talk to others are

very intelligent.

Introverts just want to fulfill their needs with the bare minimum and while doing so,

they form a sacred bond with the mind.

Thus the brain works a little differently for them.

7) THE ODDEST HOURS OF THE NIGHT ARE THE MOST PRODUCTIVE HOURS FOR YOU.

Well, many religious authorities might condemn this point but studies have clearly shown

that the people who sleep late and get up early in the morning are much more likely

to be of higher intellect.

The sleeplessness can also be a medical condition and thus we request you to take this seriously

if you are facing troubles due to lack of sleep.

8) YOU LIKE TO CHEW GUMS Yes, most of the studies conducted on chewing

gums have shown that the habit of chewing a gum can be a sign of a very high intelligence.

The chemicals in the gum are said to help your blood circulation.

Another study showed that if you chew a chewing gum while preparing for your test, you can

use the links created by your brain to store the information.

Intelligent people feel even this slightest of the difference and thus choose to eat a

chewing gum to memorize stuff easily.

9) YOU TAKE SMART AND SHORT NAPS OFTEN Well, you can think, what is up with intelligence

and sleep?

Many studies have shown that people who take naps are smarter.

The Biggest Unanswered Questions In Black Panther - Duration: 6:04.

The biggest question leading into the release of Marvel's superhero blockbuster Black Panther

was: can it possibly live up to the massive amount of hype?

Well, that question has been answered with a resounding yes, as millions of ecstatic

fans around the world can attest.

But as great as the film is, there are some other questions it never quite got around

to addressing.

So grab your vibranium and hold on tight, because here's a spoiler-filled look at some

of the biggest unanswered questions in Black Panther.

Why didn't they bring the kid to Wakanda?

After King T'Chaka kills his brother, he heads home to Wakanda, leaving his suddenly orphaned

nephew Erik behind in Oakland.

This ends up being a terrible mistake, as the embittered boy grows up to become the

conquering invader Killmonger.

Sure, hindsight is 20-20, but you have to ask: why did T'Chaka leave the boy behind?

In the film, it's said multiple times that he did it to protect the veil of secrecy surrounding

Wakanda.

But how exactly would adopting an orphaned little boy threaten national security?

It doesn't seem like anybody in Oakland would have missed him, and bringing the child — and

his father's body — back to Wakanda would have tied up loose ends instead of leaving

them.

Plus, it's just the right thing to do.

Leaving the boy behind is a real head-scratcher — not to mention a total jerk move.

Is T'Challa the last Black Panther?

In a pivotal scene, after Killmonger becomes the new king of Wakanda, he orders the botanists

in the garden of heart-shaped herbs to burn the country's entire supply of the magic plant

that gives their monarchs the power of the Black Panther.

So does that actually mean that T'Challa is the last of the Black Panthers?

The comics tell us that the super-plants exist in the first place because vibranium mutates

the local flora — so wouldn't the presence of a massive mountain of vibranium mean it

would just… create more?

Plus, Nakia shows just how easy to simply walk out the door with one in your pocket,

so there could be a supply pretty much anywhere.

But is there?

Or is this the end of the Black Panther legacy?

We just don't know enough about how the whole Black Panther thing works to say.

Speaking of which…

How does the whole Black Panther thing work?

So, according to the movie, the powers of the Panther-goddess Bast are bestowed upon

the reigning monarch of Wakanda after they eat the magic heart-shaped herb.

Then the monarch is buried alive while their spirit travels to the afterlife to commune

with the spirits of their ancestors, before being reborn as…the Black Panther!

One big question, though: in Captain America: Civil War, it seems as though T'Challa has

already become Black Panther before his father's death, something verified by the official

prequel comics.

So who exactly can become Black Panther?

The movie suggests only the king is allowed to eat the heart-shaped herb, but that's clearly

not true.

It doesn't seem hereditary either, considering the kingship is sometimes determined by ritual

combat and not bloodlines.

So can anyone become Black Panther if the king appoints them to the role?

And if so, doesn't it seem negligent for the nation's supreme leader to be constantly courting

death by battling supervillains, instead of delegating that responsibility to someone

more expendable?

This is one area where we're more confused than before the movie started.

What does vibranium actually do?

It's supposed to be the hardest metal in the world.

But vibranium also seems to have magic powers, like mutating the plants in Wakanda, and enabling

Wakandan technology to do all sorts of random things that, well, maybe don't make much sense.

For instance, how does jamming a wad of vibranium into an open gunshot wound stabilize a spinal

injury?

It seems as though vibranium's main property is covering over plot holes, which makes it

a very valuable resource indeed.

And then there's that suit...

Does every Marvel hero need a super suit?

Thanks to the heart-shaped herb, Black Panther possesses inhuman speed, agility, strength,

and stamina.

Yet over the course of Black Panther, most of the major butt-kicking moves he pulls off

during the fight scenes are possible because he's wearing a technologically advanced super

suit that allows him to stop bullets and then redirect the absorbed kinetic energy into

concussive blasts.

Which would be totally cool in Iron Man 4.

But does every single Marvel hero need a super suit?

It's fine for Iron Man and War Machine.

And Ant-Man.

And the Wasp.

And the Falcon.

But when Marvel sticks characters like Spider-Man and Black Panther into super suits, it all

starts to feel very samey-samey.

And ironically, the most compelling and gripping fights in Black Panther are the ritual challenges

where T'Challa is stripped of his powers and gizmos.

So why does Marvel insist on giving everyone these super suits?

T'Challa seems pretty super without it, y'know.

How does Wakanda function?

According to the movie, Wakanda has been isolated for centuries, hiding itself away to make

sure nobody else gets any of its precious vibranium.

But if they're unwilling to trade their most valuable resource, where do they get… everything

else?

Sure, vibranium can do all sorts of amazing things, but you can't build an entire technologically

superior society out of one rock...can you?

They seem to have a massive amount of wealth, but where does it come from if they really

are as isolated as they claim to be?

And if they're so peaceful and insular, why exactly do they have enclaves of highly trained

spies and soldiers secretly stationed in all the major centers of the world?

And not just major centers — they have so many "war dogs" around the world that they

even have a base in Oakland, which isn't even among the top one-thousand largest cities

in the world.

So why does Wakanda really have such an extensive worldwide military operation?

Now what?

Maybe the biggest question left unanswered from Black Panther is one they never intended

to answer in this movie.

Namely, what comes next?

We know from the trailer to Avengers: Infinity War that Thanos is going to attack Wakanda

— presumably because an Infinity Stone is there, or somehow ends up there.

We also know from the trailer that Captain America and a team of Avengers are on hand

in Wakanda when this happens.

So how does that all come about?

And what's going to happen to T'Challa and Wakanda?

Is their big push to become an open nation going to end before it even gets a chance

to start?

Or are they just going to be left sharing a huge pile of rubble?

It seems there's only one way to find out, and all we can say is that we can't wait to

see what unanswered questions are still left after we watch Avengers: Infinity War — and

Black Panther 2.

President Trump Meets with Nation's Sheriffs, Delivers Tough Mes - Duration: 5:48.

President Trump Meets with Nations Sheriffs, Delivers Tough Message on Border Security

On Tuesday, President Donald Trump took a tough-on-crime, tough-on-immigration stance

when addressing members of the National Sheriffs Association at the White House.

While meeting with sheriffs from across the country, President Trump touted his push for

stricter immigration policies, adding that such reforms are crucial in the fight against

gang and illicit drug activity.

My administration stands proudly with Americas sheriffs, deputies and law enforcement officers.

And we stand, also, 100 percent with strong law and order.

We want you to just keep doing your job as well as youre doing it, Trump began.

As a candidate and as president, Trump has clearly defined himself as a friend of law

enforcement, and has continued to call for policies and legislation that would aid in

their efforts to fight crime.

Trump used his time with the Sheriffs Association to push for immigration legislation that is

currently being debated in Washington, D.C., arguing that new laws would benefit the law

enforcement community.

Were asking Congress to support our immigration policy that keeps terrorists,

drug dealers, criminals and gang members out of our country.

We want them out.

We dont want them in, he said.

And right now were working on DACA, were working on immigration bills and were

making them tough so you people can enforce the laws sometimes tough because of the

laws you have to enforce.

In exchange for codifying the Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals program, the Trump administration,

along with conservative Republicans in Congress, is calling for a strengthening of the countrys

border security.

Thats why were asking the senators to support legislation that contains the three

vital elements of a safe immigration system.

So were, right now, in the Senate.

Were in Congress.

Altogether, well see what happens with DACA, he continued. The three big-ticket

items the president wants are funding for border security, including a massive wall

on the U.S. southern border; an end to chain migration; and and end to the visa lottery.

He went on to poke fun at the concept of the visa lottery system, asking, Anybody in

favor of the lottery, where you pick it out and you say, Good, we have a new United

States citizen?

Doesnt work.

And theyre not giving us their finest.

That we can tell you.

The president ended by thanking the members present, and said that his administration

is listening to law enforcements input in everything we do to help make communities

in the country more safe.

The meeting was well received by the National Sheriffs Association, who applauded at the

end of Trumps remarks.

The group supports his crackdown on illegal immigration.

My view is as a sheriff, if we are going to secure the homeland it is imperative that

he build some kind of border wall, Ira Edwards, sheriff of Athens-Clarke County,

Georgia, stated, according to USA Today.

The White House roundtable came amid contentious debate in Congress over how to approach immigration

reform.

DACA, as an executive decree, will expire very shortly and immigrant-rights activists

are demanding legislation to save it.

The Trump administration released its own immigration plan last month.

The comprehensive proposal offers wins for both Democrats and Republicans.

The proposal would provide a pathway to citizenship for around 1.8 million Dreamers and

also calls for a $25 billion added investment in border security including the construction

of a wall on the U.S. southern border.

As mentioned in his statement to the Sheriffs Association, Trump is demanding the end to

the visa lottery system and chain migration two programs that have allowed alleged

terrorists into the country in recent time.

New York City was rocked with two separate attacks, both a month within each other, from

alleged terrorists who entered by way of the programs.

The president, however, may not be finding common ground with lawmakers.

The White House on Thursday threatened to veto bipartisan legislation currently being

considered in the Senate, accusing the bill of being detrimental to border security.

This amendment would drastically change our national immigration policy for the worse

by weakening border security and undercutting existing immigration law, the White House

said in a statement, according to CNN.

The administration is committed to finding a permanent, fair, and legal solution for

DACA, the statement continued.

But this amendment would only compound the problem by encouraging millions of additional

minors to be smuggled into the United States.

We need to solve the problem, not perpetuate it indefinitely.

Bar Design Tips - What Is The Best Foot Rest For Commercial Bars? - Duration: 4:10.

What's the best footrest for a commercial bar?

In this video, I'm going to show why the black pipe

foot rail is the best value for do-it-yourself

commercial bar design. Coming up!

Hey, Rick Uzubell again from Cabaret Design Group,

where I share my personal ideas and tips on bar design,

draft beer system design and product reviews.

If you're new here, consider subscribing, and please

check-out the show notes and links in the YouTube

description below. Now let's jump into the show.

For those unaware, there are a multitude of choices

when it comes to bar footrests. While the solid footrest

remains my traditional favorite, this discussion will be

limited to pipe-style foot rails.

Many are familiar with the brass footrest, typified by

ornamental rail brackets, elbows and end caps as shown here.

With the rise of do-it-yourself bar construction projects,

many websites, such as Keg Works and

ESP Metal Products have expanded offerings,

which include other architectural finishes, such as

matte black, oil-rubbed bronze, gunmetal gray

and others. This type of foot rail is normally offered

in 1 1/2 inch and 2 inch outside outside diameter tubing

and often sold as kits. These companies do a fine job.

This category of tubing is what's referred to as

"lightweight" or thin-wall tubing. This is why it can also

be formed or rolled in circular shapes. While these

products are attractive and very architectural in

appearance, they have a major flaw: they aren't built

to last; even worse, they're expensive and they'll never

look this good the day after their first use,

as they have a classy aesthetic appeal and don't take

the day-in and day-out abuse of the general public.

While installing a foot rail from thin wall tubing, the first

thing the Installer will notice is the flimsy nature

of the product and the weakness of the connections,

as they're merely pinned together with tiny set screws.

The wall thickness of this tubing is .050", which is less

than 1/16" -- not nearly (thick) enough to have

mechanical threads.

For commercial bars, the best foot rail is the type

fabricated from schedule 40 commercial pipe.

One approach is to use 1 1/2" galvanized pipe as shown

in this photo. The only thing I dislike about galvanized

pipe is it has a tinny appearance. My personal favorite

is fabricated from 2" black pipe,

as shown in this photo. The black pipe carries an

oil-rubbed appearance and will hold-up to daily use with

very little visible wear. The reason why pipe makes for

such a superior foot rail is because it's nearly five times

stronger than the lightweight tubing mentioned earlier.

Another advantage of commercial pipe are the strong

threaded connections. Supports are normally installed

every 48", but I tend to put them wherever it makes it

look most customized. The components for a typical

installation can be purchased at the Keg Works,

as shown here, or at any plumbing supply house,

including the threaded pipe and all connecting hardware

This system can be floor-supported, as shown earlier,

or off the face of the bar, as shown here. From a cost

perspective, a footrest fabricated from 2" schedule 40

black pipe will average about $25 per linear foot,

while that of the thin wall tubing will cost upwards

of $40 per linear foot -- over 1.5 times (more expensive)!

Of course, labor is extra.

If you attempt to use a thin wall footrest for a

commercial bar, it won't take you long to reach the

conclusion that you just wasted your money!

Use the commercial pipe and pipe fittings that I

mentioned above and your investment will be protected

for a long time. Best of luck!
