The Sinking City Update #4 - The Cthulhu Mythos - Duration: 5:00.
The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear.
And the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.
Existential horror that engulfs you upon realization
that humanity is not the masters of this world.
That there are entities far older,
greater, lying dormant in the darkest
corners of the Earth. Lovecraft never explained much about them.
To us, they are as powerful as they are indifferent.
In the eyes of these cold and enormous beings, we are probably nothing more than tiny little roaches.
But who can tell if they perceive the world as we do?
The poor souls who have ever stumbled upon
them have either perished or ultimately gone insane.
We are fascinated with Lovecraft's works of horror fiction,
and we've always felt like this world would be a fantastic setting for a video game.
Mysterious ancient beings that people can never comprehend.
Devastating natural cataclysms
that mercilessly clash with human civilizations, destroying everything in their way.
We are building our game on the same underlying
themes that Lovecraft explored
fear of the unknown, hopelessness
and desolation.
This is what the mysterious flood in our game represents Nobody knows why it occurred
and at this point, nobody has any hopes for help.
People are scared of uncertainty,
they realize that the flood is relentless,
that it can easily devour the whole city
and destroy their lives
and they are basically helpless.
One thing they are quite sure of
is that it's only going to get worse.
It kinda shows how insignificant and
powerless people are in this world
and how callous the universe is.
But here's a good question.
At this point, Oakmont seems to be beyond salvation,
and dozens of thousands have lost
their lives in the fight against the ruthless disaster. But if it's so bad,
why won't the citizens leave this ill-fated place? Why do newcomers continue to arrive?
Why indeed. Is there something in the air that people feel addicted to?
Or perhaps, the city is seen as a beacon for those that desperately seek… something?
The newly arrived do not get a warm welcome from the locals.
People in Oakmont are a very secluded conservative society, and they are over-zealous
about their customs and traditions.
The city is home to numerous secret societies
and cults that worship their mysterious Deities. The Esoteric order of Dagon,
is a group of hybrids that fled to Oakmont from Innsmouth and want to see the city destroyed by the sea.
Or the Redemption Church which worships
a deity, called The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young.
Thanks to his ambiguity,
Lovecraft left a lot of room for those who want to expand on his work.
Our goal is to fit in the Lovecraftian universe.
Our game is a part of the worlds that Lovecraft and his followers created.
Oakmont is located in the state of Massachusetts,
not that far away from Arkham, Innsmouth, Dunwich
and other gloomy towns that people know from books.
Canonical events like the raid on Innsmouth
are also canon for us.
The Great Old Ones and the Old Gods exist in our world.
This means that book readers
will get to see familiar characters.
In our game, the good old Esoteric Order of Dagon
neighbors with the Oakmont's St. Michael's Church of the Burning Bush
which worships the Holy Fire.
We have hybrids of humans and apes
who are at war with hybrids of human and the Deep Ones
they have a bit of a racial feud going on.
Oakmont is a never-ending battlefield
between many factions and powerful old families all of them
are trying to preserve their influence over the city. And yet,
not the official government, nor these supposedly powerful families can handle the calamitous circumstances.
The situation is far beyond their reach now.
The flood has awakened frightening creatures
which now roam the streets of Oakmont.
Disturbing, twisted monsters, driven by desire to rip
and chomp and tear apart.
You know what most people find really frightening?
Not spiders, not gore even though
these things could be very repulsive.
But most people are truly afraid of anything
that looks like a human but is not quite human.
There's a theory going on that when monsters look,
act or move similar to how we do,
but not close enough, it triggers fear and panic.
So in our game we decided to give monsters
certain humanoid features and see the result.
But being scary is not the ultimate goal of The Sinking City,
even though horror is a major part of the game.
It's all about a person's behavior and motivation,
how they change under extreme conditions.
How fear and hopelessness can twist human nature to a ridiculous degree,
cause people to do unimaginable things to survive…
Or, perhaps, because nothing stops them anymore.
But that's a topic for another day...

Violet Evergarden IS Worth Watching | First Reaction - Duration: 8:18.
Watch Violet Evergarden.
Normally with these videos, I start off pretty coy.
I'd usually say something like, "Is Violet Evergarden worth watching?"
I put emphasis on the question, making it seem like it could go either way.
I would talk about its good points, its bad points, but ultimately leave it up to you
Not today.
Watch Violet Evergarden.
The reason why I usually leave it up to the viewer is because I understand that not every
anime will be to everyone's liking and that a particular show might not be what you
personally are looking for in an anime.
It might not be the kind of series you would want to watch, and that's fine.
But in this particular case, I cannot take the chance – however small – that me being
ambiguous about this will stop someone who will love this show from watching it.
Thus I say again: watch Violet Evergarden.
SO, with that out of the way, let me explain WHY!
Violet Evergarden, at the time of recording this, is a currently airing anime series produced
by Kyoto Animation.
It follows the story of the titular Violet, a young girl of the emotionally distant persuasion,
who is forced to adopt a civilian lifestyle after spending the last several years as a
military tool.
I emphasize the word tool, as her personality and decision making process is far more logical
and mechanical than empathetic and emotional.
After losing both her arms during the recent war in an alternate version of Europe, her
new handler Gilbert (a former soldier himself) hires Violet to work at his company where
she eventually decides to train to become an "Auto Memory Doll".
This is a writer of sorts, someone who listens to the desires of various customers and produces
written letters for them to send to their loved ones.
The time period of this anime is one when a decent chunk of the population does not
possess the ability to write.
So that's why this job exists.
While Violet is mechanically capable of writing letters, operating the typewriter with insane
levels of speed, accuracy, and grammatical ability, the letters she produces are…less
emotional than people would like.
Her personality is much like that of a doll and one of her few desires is to be able to
understand the emotions of those around her and to get better at conveying those emotions
on paper.
Violet is an interesting character because we are not really sure what her deal is yet.
At the moment, her personality makes it very easy for one to just brush her off as
another Rei Aianami clone, one whose emotionless state is such a part of her character that
it will never be changed.
But the story is currently set up in such a way that it looks like a journey for her
to eventually come out of that emotionless shell.
Near the end of the war, she was told by her previous handler that he loved her, and she
is desperate to understand what exactly those words mean.
She is currently emotionless in the vast majority of her interactions, yes, but she quite obviously
has the desire and drive to understand emotion.
Which is a far cry from your regular Rei clone.
There's so much room for growth here that it makes me excited to see where her character
will eventually go.
What I also like is how the show is slowly weaving in its secondary characters, both
to flesh out their stories personally, but also to also allow them to build on Violet's
personal story.
So far, we've only gotten small snippets of time with the vast majority of these characters,
but the story has utilized them so well that even in this short amount of time they've
been able to display a substantial amount of their own personality and desires without
clogging up the narrative.
It's this detail that makes me appreciate the writing in this series.
But of course the writing is obviously not the only place where details have been placed.
Hopefully you have noticed by now that in the clips I have been using, there is an attention
to detail in the artwork of this series that is masterful.
The backgrounds, the fluid movements of the characters…there is a lot much detail on display
here, but never so much that it becomes the focus of your attention.
The scenes of this series are beautiful, enough so that most individual frames are almost
like paintings in and of themselves.
But even with that level of detail and beauty, I have not yet felt that the animation distracts
from the narrative that it's trying to tell.
Now I'm going to turn down the praise a tad.
Only a tad though.
I feel like there will be a decent amount of viewers who will watch this series and
see it as pretty, but slow.
And I wouldn't blame them to a point.
It's not bellowing ahead at full speed towards some kind of climatic conclusion.
There is also the issue of where the series might end up going.
I've already seen the possibility of one horrible ending on the horizon depending on
how it's written and presented.
But this is a series that I think can be easily wrapped up in a little pretty bow, should they choose so.
and as good looking and audibly pleasing as it is, there is still the possibility that it'll
be ruined in the end.
This is one of the downsides of a slower story like this.
It's harder to predict where it's going because it's so easy for them to make slight
course corrections without you noticing.
However, I am quite optimistic with it, because the level of detail that we've seen so far
leads me to believe that this is a story that's been planned out in full from the start.
Combine this with the fact that the material it's adapting has been completed,
there's no excuse there for them to leave us hanging.
So I'm trying to be hopeful.
I don't praise this show simply because it's a Kyoto Ani series like some might.
I know all too well their missteps.
And the fact that this show's director has only ever directed Beyond the Boundary prior
to now did have me worried before I sat down to watch this.
I wasn't a fan of Beyond the Boundary.
But honestly, I currently feel like this series is good enough for me to say that I already
have an extremely strong contender for my best anime of 2018, and the year has
only just begun!
I know that the shows are coming up later in this year are supposed to be really good,
and like 2018 is looking to be quite phenomenal!
and yet this one might still end up being my favourite.
It has the potential, but only time will tell.
At the time of this video, Violet Evergarden is available on Netflix…unless you live
in the United States.
Oh man, I would feel bad about this – well, more than I do, because this is an amazing
series and I'm telling you guys to watch it – but the amount of times I've been unable to watch
a series because it wasn't available in Canada and yet you guys had full access?
Yeah… now you know how it feels.
Not sure why Netflix in the US isn't simulcasting the series.
I assume there is some kind of rights issue, but from my research you will eventually get
access to the series on the service.
You just might have to wait until its done airing and they release it all in one batch.
Oh well.
That's it from me today.
If you've seen the first episodes of this show, let me know in the comments what
you thought about them, just no spoilers please for those who haven't seen it.
As usual, a large thanks to my patrons who make these videos possible.
And until next time, Stay Frosty everyone.

Google Home: 7 Best Features - Duration: 2:55.
Hey friends!
I'm Tasia and this video features 7 of the coolest things your Google Home can do.
Be sure to hit that subscribe button and come on, let's get after it!
Ok first up on the list is what I would consider the main reason to have a Google Home device
and that is to control your smart home.
Fun fact: Did you know Google Home can control over 1000 smart-home products?
From dimming your lights, to controlling the temperature in your home, the possibilities
are endless.
I'll link below to a list of compatible products.
Next up, why not drift off to sleep with the sound of white noise or a little pitter pattering
of rain?
Simply ask Google and your wish is her command.
Hey Google, play white noise.
After drifting off to sleep so peacefully, why not wake up to your favorite music?
Like this:
Hey Google, set alarm for 630 am that plays Brian Adams.
OK, if you're forgetful like me then you'll want to use your Google Home to set reminders
and remember things for you.
Though those sound like the same thing, they are actually very different tasks.
So you can have your Google Home set a reminder to call your parents or set a reminder to
gently nudge you to workout.
But if you need to remember something like a gate code.
Hey Google, remember my gate code is 1234.
Okay this next feature is also super handy.
Use Google Home to make hands-free calls.
Okay, so I guess it's not handy?
Get it?
Cuz you don't need your hands at all…..(crickets) Anyway, Google Home can call anyone in your
Google Contacts, so all you have to say is, you guessed it, Hey Google, call (insert name
here).
Now did you know you can also locate your misplaced phone by having your Google Home
find it for you?
For this one, all you have to say is, Hey Google, find my phone.
And last but not least, you can use your Google Home to translate a language for you.
Hey Google, how do you say subscribe to my YouTube Channel in Italian?
Well, you heard him!
Click here to subscribe to my YouTube Channel and if you like this video, I want to know
so give it a like, a share or leave a comment below.
See ya next time!

How To Get More Views on All Your YouTube Videos - Duration: 3:46.
- Shh.
I'm sharing a super secret hack
to getting more views on all your videos.
So, make sure you stay tuned.
Okay, so the first thing you're gonna want to do
is make sure you are logged into your YouTube Channel
and then go on over to your channel home page.
Let's say, for example, I want to blow up this spot
and get more views on this video collab
that I did with Andrew and Pete:
How to Create Engaging Content That Helps You Stand Out.
What I'm gonna do, since I've already added it
to my video planning playlist, I'm just going
to go ahead and select the video planning playlist
and then I'm going to go ahead and select the video.
And, I'm going to go ahead and select the video again
and what I get is this unique URL that,
when I share this URL, what's going to happen is it's
going to pull up the video planning playlist.
Now, this is the key to getting more views
because the next video that shows up is going to
be another one of your videos and then another one
of your videos and then another one of your videos,
creating this Netflix binge worthy experience
for the viewer to want to stay on your channel,
to want to continue to the next video,
to want to learn more about this particular subject
that you're talking about in the playlist.
So, lets go ahead.
I copied that URL, I'm going to open up a new tab.
So, when I share this link,
this is what's going to happen.
Somebody's going to land on this page,
the video is going to start and my video playlist
is going to pop up right here enticing the viewer
to continue watching videos on my channel.
If I share just the regular share link,
they may or may not get served up another one
of my videos to view or something even remotely related
to the content I'm sharing.
It depends on how optimized the metadata,
it depends on the person's YouTube search history,
browser history, cookies and things like that.
So, what I have here is auto playing what's coming up next,
not my video.
If I scroll through here,
none of these are my video so ideally,
I want people to continue to watch videos
on my channel that I'm using to educate people
about video planning as opposed to going over to some
of these other channels.
Your up next auto play playlist will probably look different
than mine cause mine is based on my search history
and cookies and browser information like I mentioned.
But, ideally, you want to go ahead and share this link
so that people get served up your playlist
and not this link here
and that's how your going to be able to get more views.
Now, I've been doing this for a couple of months already
and I want to show you something.
Boom!
Right?
Look at the difference in the amount of views
that I'm getting on my playlist from before and after.
It is crazy.
And, this has been exploding the growth on my channel.
Now I want to hear from you.
Let me know in the comments below.
Is this something you are doing?
Is this something you're gonna be doing?
Let me know, I want to hear from you.
And, if you want to see more videos like this,
I talk about all things business cinema,
which is video with a plan, a purpose, a system,
and a strategy.
Not just creating video for the sake of creating video
but actually creating videos that move
your business forward so if you're interested
in learning more about business cinema,
make sure you're subscribed to this channel
and click the button to get notified!
Then, if you like this video make sure to like it
and share with all your favorite business buddies
because you know they are going to like it too.
It's a secret.
Haha.
It's a secret but it is one worth sharing.
Thank you for watching and remember you're someone's reason
to smile so don't give up.

PLANT UPDATE GOT SOME SEEDS AND AMAZING UPDATES - Duration: 11:03.
- Hello guys, and welcome to my channel.
In today's episode I'm gonna give you
my amazing plant updates and a couple new
additions to my plant collection.
So if you wanna see what those are, please stay tuned.
(bright music)
- Hey guys and welcome to my channel,
and today on my plant update, I'm gonna give you
all the amazing updates that I have,
and the new additions that I've made,
and hopes that they grow like I hope they will.
So first, we're gonna start off with the poinsettia,
which is amazing right now.
So we're still in the month of February,
which means that you are only supposed to water this guy,
you see it still has some red leaves.
Older leaves will fall off, and some new ones
will come through, which is amazing.
So yeah, everything is looking super well.
I just go to my sink.
I just pour a little water in,
and it looks like it still has some water in there,
so I wait till it's dry before I water it.
So what I have read is that around May
is when we re-pot these guys, so this is good.
So in May I will show you guys how I re-pot it.
I have the new pot and everything set to go.
This is the new pot.
This way it has plenty of room to grow,
which is what I want.
I want it to have enough room so it could grow, and it does.
So now we'll move on to my Christmas and Easter cactuses.
So we got these two right here.
It looks like this one's trying to grow,
but maybe something ate it.
I don't know.
But the soil is still nice and wet,
which is very very good.
I did fertilize these guys this past week.
For me, I fertilize every two weeks.
So every couple week I do fertilize.
I fertilize with Miracle Grow right now.
That's the one I use.
So now, here is my Christmas cactus,
which is growing quite well.
This is the same one that had that bud
for a very brief time.
The bud's gone.
The bud fell off.
That's what happened.
But right now, since we are going
into the spring and the summer,
there will be no buds on the Christmas cactuses.
The Christmas cactuses usually
only bloom around Christmastime,
and the Easter cactuses are usually around Easter.
So we've got this one who is growing quite well,
and we have a couple new leaves right there.
Right there, just a couple right there.
They don't look like much right now,
but as they continue to grow they will look like leaves,
which is very very cool.
It's very very cool to have Christmas cactuses
and Easter cactuses and watch them grow and bloom.
It's awesome.
I love it.
So here is one that I believe is an Easter cactus,
and this is the one that I saved from my mom.
I don't think she was taking very good care of it
so I decided to take over.
It's growing quite well, it has lots of new leaves growing.
Again, Easter cactuses won't grow until around Easter.
So, we have to wait and see if those three will bloom
around Easter cause there's three of them.
I have three Easter.
And here is the last Christmas cactus,
which is doing quite well.
Again, we have a lot of new growths on here,
which is really really cool.
So it's going, it's probably just going to lay dormant,
or just grow new leaves until Christmas.
Until winter.
So now, I went outside and I got some new aloe plants.
There was two of them.
These were the smallest ones that I could fit in here.
So I have two of these guys right now in there,
and they're growing so that's good.
That's really really good, cause
the other one had died on me.
So, yeah, it happens.
So I just put this guy in the soil,
I watered it down as soon as I put it in here.
And now, I fertilized it as well,
and now we are just watching it grow,
which is really really cool.
I always suggest that you have
live aloe plants in your house,
especially if there's lot of burns in the kitchen.
That way you won't have to worry
about if you have enough aloe,
and it's pure aloe so you don't
have to worry about any chemicals in it or at all,
which is really really awesome.
So before we get to the orchids,
I wanted to show you the new additions
that I have made to my collection.
So these right here are avocado seeds,
and I did a lot of research on them,
and I have two of these.
So I have this one, which was in water first.
So what I've read, and what I've watched
on YouTube of course, is that you're supposed to
keep them in water until it has enough roots
in here to put it in soil.
Still waiting on the roots to start peaking out on those.
So there's that one, and then there's this one.
It's doing quite well.
Everything looks good on that.
This just shoved toothpicks inside so that
it's nice and stable, which is what I want.
Which is definitely what you want
if you're doing avocado seeds.
So those are avocado seeds, since my mom likes avocado
and I thought if I can grow some avocado trees,
we don't have to buy avocados every so often,
cause she loves avocados.
So now we're going to get to the orchids,
which is so much fun.
So this one as you can see,
this flower spike is starting to die off,
but it's growing a new leaf right there.
So look at that guy.
We've got some awesome roots growing,
which is always good.
As long as the root system's good,
and it's continuously growing something.
If it's leaves, or if it's flower spikes,
or if it's roots, it's always a good sign for me.
For me, it is a good sign.
I also fertilize these guys every two weeks as well.
So here's the next one, which is doing quite well.
The leaves are still nice and firm, which is awesome.
And I've still got these flowers.
I love it so much.
I love these flowers.
This is why I love phalaenopsis.
They can keep their buds for up to a year,
which is amazing.
I love it.
So we're gonna take this guy out,
and as you can see, I got some new growths
on that root right there, which is amazing.
So yeah, everything looks so good, so good.
And I have a new thermometer,
that I'll show you guys in just a second.
And then we got this guy, who has grown
this leaf right here, which is amazing.
And we still have this flower spike,
which still has new buds on it as of yet.
As of yet.
It's looking really good.
Now let's check out this root system.
This root system is doing quite well.
I see few new growths there as well.
And now I'm gonna show you the thermometer I got off Amazon.
So this is a thermometer and a humidifier
temperature checker thingy,
and it'll tell you the current temperature
and the humidity percentage.
This is must for any orchid growers.
I will leave the link to this in the description below.
It's Amazon affiliate link.
So yeah, it's really really cool.
It lets me know how much the temperature is.
It lets me know the humidity level,
which is something that is a must.
So yeah, everything is looking good.
And then we've got this orchid over here
who is just surprising the hell out of me
because look at that root.
Look at that root right there.
Then we got these roots down here,
which are doing wonderfully.
So yeah, this guy is just growing.
I believe these were purple flowers,
which is why the root tip is a little bit red.
A reddish to purpleish usually means it's just
the color of the flowers.
Usually.
I know mine are a purpley color
because the back of the leaves are
a little bit of a purple grayish color
and the roots as well.
So then we've got this big guy over here.
As you can see, this leaf is just growing so nicely,
and the root is as well.
Look at that, it's amazing.
Everything seems to be looking quite well
for my orchids and all of my plants.
So that is gonna be it.
There's no fertilizing this week.
Every week when it's fertilizing week
I will show you guys the fertilizers I use.
I always put the link in there,
so this is not fertilizing week,
so the only links that will be
in the description below this week
is gonna be for the humidifier and temperature gage
thing that I just showed you.
That is it for this week guys.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
