Mike Pence avoids handshake with N. Korea delegate ahead of Olympics Opening Ceremony.

South Korean President Moon Jae-in held a reception for international delegates ahead

of Friday's Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony in PyeongChang.

Vice President Mike Pence, the leader of the the U.S. delegation, was among 12 leaders

invited to sit at the head table, where he was expected to sit across from Kim Yong Nam,

the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly and representative from

North Korea.

That did not happen.

Pence made a brief appearance and left early to meet with U.S. athletes prior to the Opening

ceremony, South Korean officials told Reuters.

He did not take a seat, but met and shook hands with other leaders, including Japanese

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, according to the report.

He left without interacting with Kim Yong Nam, although Moon did shake hands with Kim

Yong Nam.

Pence did, however, sit near Kim Yong Nam and Kim Jong Un's sister Kim Yo Jong at

the Opening Ceremony, thanks to a seating arrangement that was out of his control.

Pence also met with defectors on Friday, some of whom had been tortured in North Korea,

where he warned of the country using the Olympics to put on a "charm offensive."

"Today we thought it was important to make sure the truth is told," Pence said of North

Korea.

"As these people and their lives testify, it is a regime that imprisons, and tortures,

and impoverishes its citizens."

While Moon has sought to use the Olympics as a chance to thaw relations with South Korea's

adversarial neighbors from the North through diplomacy, Pence is using his presence in

PyeongChang to keep the spotlight on North Korea's history of human rights atrocities.

"As we speak, an estimated 100,000 North Korean citizens are labor in modern-day gulags,"

Pence said in speech to U.S. service members at Yokota Air Base in Japan before he arrived

in South Korea.

"Those who dare raise their voices in dissent are imprisoned, tortured, and even murdered,

and their children and grandchildren are routinely punished for their family's sins against

the state."

Pence was also critical Friday of a military parade that North Korea held on the eve of

the Olympics, contrasting it with a planned military parade in the U.S. at the behest

of President Donald Trump.

"Make no mistake about it, what we witnessed in Pyongyang, and we witnessed again yesterday,

on the eve of the Olympics — what President Moon said last night, he hopes will be an

Olympics of peace — was once again an effort on the part of the regime in Pyongyang to

display their ballistic missiles," Pence told reporters, "to display a military that

continues to make menacing threats across the region and across the wider world.

"I think in the United States of America, just as in France — where the president

was impressed on Bastille Day — we can celebrate our troops, not in any way ever be associated

with the provocations of the North."

Hey ladies and jellyfish, wumbos of all sizes, welcome back to A.S.K Air's videos!

If you're new here, I do cartoon reviews and if you enjoy that kinda stuff, consider

subscribing!

Today I am starting a new show on my channel named Super Discussions which is a cartoon

discussion show that is the sister show of my main show, Super Reviews.

I will make them similar to PieGuy's Audio Essays, but will not copy or make them even

remotely like his videos, and will talk about topics I think are worth the time.

I will talk about my opinions in a podcast like video with low editing and something

visually interesting to look at if you wanna treat it like a vlog or a visual content in

general.

Since the most important part is the sound, if you don't understand what I'm saying

at some points, turn on captions for English subtitles.

So, for the first episode, where better to start than the fundamentals?

More specifically, the fundamentals of storytelling.

Well, we have to start with the real basics.

As we know, a story needs a storyline.

A commonly used one is one with the exposition; the gradual increase in excitement; the climax

of the story, which is the highest peak in the story, most commonly the solution to the

problem; the gradual decrease in the story; and the resolution/ending of the story.

If you follow this, you will have a well-structured plot.

You would also need a problem and a solution in the story.

There can be many problems and solutions in a story, which makes the difference between

an episode and a movie.

Another fundamental that is important in a story is of course, the characters and setting.

A story can have no characters, for example a story about a city or an object.

But most stories like that include background characters or people.

For example, a story about New York City and how it's very beautiful and urban and bright,

will of course include the people living in the city which make it beautiful and urban

and bright.

And making the characters personalized as characters also makes the story more memorable

and interesting.

The character personalities can make many plots of episodes and the characters bounce

off each other and create the dialogue and a more interesting plot all around.

This is why a show like Problem Solverz is not interesting and really bland.

The characters don't have personalities which takes away from the enjoyability.

Compared to a show like SpongeBob, yeah!

Other fundamentals could be a little more specific according to the genre and plot of

the story.

For example, the dialogue.

Shows or movies like classic Charlie Chaplin movies can not include dialogue, in fact Charlie

Chaplin movies do include dialogue, but just not the come-out-of-your-mouth kind.

But anyway, dialogue in shows that include it can really make a difference.

Clever dialogue can make a story much more memorable and fun to listen to.

And it makes the characters much more professional and fun to watch, especially in genres like

action movies.

For example, the reason a SpongeBob episode like Band Geeks gets so much praise, other

than the obvious reasons, is the hilarious line by Patrick: "Is Mayonnaise An Instrument?".

That line was so well written and funny, it became a worldwide thing and later became

a really famous meme.

Compared to what comes to my head when you say "Bad dialogue", In Home Alone 2 when

Buzz says trout-sniffer to Kevin as an insult.

Other than dialogue, maintaining your genre in mind can really make a difference when

writing a story.

For example, a comedy show without the awkwardness and the jumpy dialogue is not a comedy show.

A romance without the romantic touch and emotion is not a romance.

An action show without the suspense and the cool visuals and fight scenes, with the right

amount of character development and story arcs is not an action show.

When writing, maintaining the end product and what you want people to take from it is

the simplest yet most important fundamental when storywriting.

When you stay true to your passion and your goal, you will succeed.

If you're writing a blog, stay relevant, stick to the goal at hand.

Okay, those where my thoughts on the fundamentals of storywriting.

I hope it helped some of you, not only to write per se, but to understand just for life.

I don't think I'm a genius or whatever, but just emptied my thoughts in hope someone

might listen.

Boating Checklist: Before You Go Out on the Water | BoatUS - Duration: 1:55.

Now there's not a lot better in life than a day on the water with family and friends

out on your boat.

So we've developed a checklist for you to go through before getting underway.

Now, there will be a few things you want to add for your own particular boat, but this

will serve as a good start.

The first thing to do before you even leave the house is going to be to file a float plan.

This tells somebody ashore where you're going, who's going to be on the boat, and when you

expect to be back.

Once you get to the boat, check your fuel and water levels.

Make sure you have enough for the day.

Check the weather forecast, and check the tides.

Who knows if you're going to want to anchor.

Study the charts.

Make sure you're familiar with the area that you're going to be boating in.

Life jackets.

Make sure you have enough on board and the right size for your passengers.

Check the regulations to see who is required to wear life jackets.

Make sure there's a throwable on board, that it's readily available, and people know how

to use it.

Check flares and fire extinguishers, and make sure they're up to date.

And make sure everybody knows how to use the head.

You don't want any problems in that area for sure!

Make sure that the VHF radio works and that somebody besides the skipper knows how to

use it.

Now open the seacocks that you'll need, run the bilge blower for three to four minutes

if you have an inboard or sterndrive gas engine.

Check the oil and the cooling water levels.

Start the engine and then check the steering and engine controls to make sure everything

works properly.

Disconnect the shorepower, cast off your lines, and you're ready to go.

HAWAIIAN ROLLS Recipe - Pineapple Sweet Rolls - Soft! - Duration: 5:49.

115g (1/2 cup canned crushed pineapple+it juice, room temperature, I let small pieces of pineapple here.

42g (3 tbsp) unsalted butter, melted. 75g (1/3 cup) sugar. 5g (1 tsp) salt. 2 medium eggs, beaten (take 1 tbsp for egg wash later).

Stir

375g ( 3 cups) all-purpose flour. 7g (1 tbsp) instant yeast. 4g (1 tsp) vanilla sugar.

Stir until combined

The dough is sticky, add flour little at time while stirring/kneading, about 1/2 cup less/more

On floured surface

Knead for about 6 minutes. Dust with flour if sticky

Put into lightly oiled bowl

Cover until double in size, mine was about 2 hours

Divide into 10 pieces

Shape into ball

I use a round pan enough for 9 pieces of bun

The last piece divide into 8 small pieces snuggle between the bigger buns

Cover for about an hour

Dab with beaten egg (1 tbsp from the recipe)

Bake at 180°C (350°F) preheated oven for 20-30 minutes. If the top get brown faster, cover with foil. Oven may vary
