Lee Mack Traces Comedy Roots To WW1 | Who Do You Think You Are - Duration: 10:12.
Oh he's meeting military historian and soldier dr. Paul Knight the winter 1915
into 1916 nothing particularly biggest happening for the battalion that your
great-grandfather's part of and then the move down to peer and they're moving
down here ready for the big push this is the first of July 1916 this is the first
day of the Battle of the Somme and your great-grandfather is right in the middle
of it Wow he was actually the Battle of the salt absolutely this is a map from
July 1916 this blue line here this is at the beautiful line the blue line crosses
the road that's where we're standing at the moment so we're actually on the
British for a lie on the persistent line of a 1st of July 1916 so zoom is
literally on this spot indeed Wow so this would have been a big trench yes
the cost of Oh DISA French army the French artillery they have a lot of
heavier guns and the British are we've got access to you want to be nice to the
French you do want to be next to the French on a day like today and all the
Reds that's all the German positions at Dublin trench and listen the Old Vic
grandfather it's an objective their target was to get from to there yes it's
about eleven hundred metres up this road so zero 7:30 in the morning
the infantry attacks your big dong father heating the third wave that
attacks all the soldiers who have been issued them to steady their nerves so
they're basically getting a bit tipsy before they Britain Dutch courage
so roughly 7:30 a.m. my great granddad is here going over the top
yes cross this field in front of you all right so you should be Rebecca knows
what's on the screen well that's this map so that red dot I'm assuming is is
that where we are now absolutely well y'all know right so if I move that will
move with me yes this is incredible so using this we can follow Billy Mac's
footsteps going into no-man's land absolutely and he definitely did it with
an iPad that's gone okay I mean it's incredible to think that my
great granddad was actually doing this yes so he's now in no-man's land here
yes I mean once he said one of the masses of men left and right all moving
forward at the same time as far as he can see though he's in the middle of all
these big movements of I'm picturing barbed wire yep I'm seeing
sort of smoke everywhere from the also artillery fire but the still the shells
gone overhead then with the machine guns firing to support him smoke has been
fired onto German positions to try and stop the Germans from seen the attack
and it's sound counterintuitive if you see a man in front of you fall to the
ground should be the last thing you think is I'm run in that direction well
a lot of the accounts are saying that they are walking forward it's to control
the man and also when you get up late you don't want to be exhausted so I even
believe gets in the German trenches at the same time blimey
so we're very close now to the trench that he was trying to get to is the idea
to get in and kill these soldiers or to capture them either both so they
surrender good if not he'll go in with the bonus and he'll though you know
shoot people if needs be that's what he's been trained to do for the last two
years but this could be the first time he's got to do that wait probably yes
and he won't know how he reacts until he's in that position were you've got to
do it take somebody else's life it's a sobering thought right so this is it the
red dot is on the trench so this this is his target yes so your great grandpa
this is his objective the war diary says weak resistance but also we do know that
300 of the Germans have captures so he would have been responsible for
capturing them and taking them out to the village maybe possibly yes so I got
one more thing to show you in the village so you're gonna have a look
let's have a look
Lee has come with Paul to the village of Montee Ball which before the battle lay
behind German lines so here's another thing for you to have a look at ah the
Liverpool pals 17th 18th 19th and 20th battalions the King's Liverpool Regiment
my great-grandma being the 17th of course yes
to the glorious memory of the Liverpool and Manchester powell's who was passed
to the 30th division liberated this village first of July 1916
so after Billy Mac and his pals got through those trenches they liberated
this village Billy max actually is out in the fields we've just been this is a
team effort so the fact that he secured the section out in the fields allows
other battalions to advance on the village this is immensely successful and
very very few casualties so that's the first day of this push but how long did
the whole thing go on for well the battle the summons on until November
1916 and Billy Mac would have been out here fighting throughout that whole
period a couple weeks apart to be another battle alright so we've got
something else to show you here ok this is the account by his commander FC
Stanley yes we turn to page 177 I got meeting from there I have hardly made
any mention up till now of our entertainers the optimists so it
mentions in the summer of 1916 so that implies that they were performing here
yes that's incredible
Lee wants to know more about Billy Mack's act when he was performing at the
front with the optimists
to find out more he's traveling north to Belgium just outside eeep following in
the footsteps of his great-grandfather who was sent to this area with his
regiment in the summer of 1917 he's meeting historian dr. Rebecca de
montagne so things to discuss about my great granddad Billy Mac we are
literally just a few miles away from where Billy Mack was fighting in the
Battle of lys and they've got an account of his time in the battle performing
with the optimists in the afternoon the optimists undefeated fellows gave an
outdoor concert in the ordinary and very much stained clothes the concert was a
great success both with our own men and also with the French troops
I found that gobsmacked in that it says gave an outdoor concert in their
ordinary and very much stained clothes ordinary been literally yeah the same
day is walking off a battlefield yeah so the very morning of the performance
there was still a battle going on and Billy Mac was part of that and it was a
very bloody battle a very difficult battle with lots of people who were
killed for us unbelievable so I see be shot at or perhaps have killed someone
and then on the stage putting on these performances became a way for them to
normalize their experience it helped people feel more sane in such a
complicated and difficult situation it's not just a bit of fun that the people at
the top thought if we can keep these soldiers entertained and distracted it
might be better for everybody I think it was a complete lifeline but I'm thinking
of my granddad Billy mater thinking is it what's he going through because he's
he's not watching this before was he's in it yes then it wasn't just that they
were putting on a performance in a ready-made theatre this was actually
happening on the front line so you could see all the trenches around them I was
incredible it is incredible Wow what kind of comedy was Billy Mac doing
when I'm guessing it wasn't observational stuff
I've debated it's a funny thing happened to me this morning and they were yeah we
know we were with you Mike wasn't funny okay really
so the kind of humor that there was could be very dark there was a story
told about a soldier walking along one day in the trenches and finding a cap
and he kept scrubbing down eventually fund found a soldier underneath that cap
buried in the mud and he said oh no you all right and the soldier said yes I'm
upset fine I'm just worried about the driver of the bus that I was standing on
top of and obviously a lot of people were buried alive in the margin and died
that way so this is a way then to use comedy as as a release as a way of
dealing with that very difficult situation take a look at this do you
include so what we got here we've got two postcards ah and that is the
optimists Wow the big question is is any of those people Billy Mack oh my gosh
that is him I think in the middle that's right it is
that is Billy Matt that is amazing and another one far left Wow to see him in
the optimist like that you don't get a sense of it and there's always writing
on the back as well there is writing one of the many concert parties traveling
about near the front line they are the best I have seen so far that's a good
review it is very and there were hundreds of concert parties at this time
so it shows the high esteem in which the optimists were held well this isn't
brilliant I'm so impressed with it and it's a video footage of it okay the
big question is is did they stay together after 1918 there is no other
reports that we can find of the optimist which suggests that they've broken up or
gone their own way maybe Billy Matt was the Robbie Williams of his day and said
sorry lads I've got my own tours to do unbelieva hang on I'm coming
you

And now we try out the T-Wall game.
Yeah right, this game over there.
We'll put the camera up somewhere to film us.
I'm better.
We'll see that.
I've never tried it before. Although, one time maybe...
I haven't, but I'm still better at this.
I guess I'm really bad at this.
But at least you're a really nice person, Jaan.
Ladies and gentlemen, dear Estonian people.
It's time for the first quarterfinal.
It's time to support our team Natus Vincere.
It's closed. Damn it.
Okay, it was a technical problem.
But now it's actually time to support our team.
Let's open the door.
Anyways, hello dear viewers.
What just happened: NaVi won againts Fnatic with the score of 2:0.
This way, they made it to the semifinals.
Yeah, we have another game today.
Another quarterfinal.
Who is playing today?
G2 against BIG.
As BIG is a German team...
...and I'm studying in Germany.
Jaan, which team are we for?
We are for Estonia!
Estonia!
Jaan, what is it like to play on three screens at the same time?
Fucking pleasant.
It's a partner hub right here.
Where you can try to be...
...a package sorting mailman.
Yup, yup.
Do you want to try it out?
No I don't.
So Jaan, it's time to play some Counter Strike.
The tension is growing.
Jaan Voronõi, known under his nickname JaanBiceps.
Is preparing for the finals of the ESL ONE Cologne.
It's time for him to show his skills.
Hello, my name is Peter.
As many of you know
I'm the most unprofessional CS player to have ever existed.
Today I wan't to show, what I can not.
That's how fast it goes, I'm already dead.
I didn't even start to play and I'm already dead.
I didn't even see the enemy.
Will Peter be able to get at least one kill today?
Or not?
We will see in a couple of minutes.
No he can't!
Well, dead once again.
Let's see how many deaths I will get.
The fifth one.
The K-D-Ratio is about 5:1.
Or 1:5.
I guess it's time to stop now.
It's your guy.
What?
It's your comrade.
A knife kill!

Underappreciated Comedy Movies You Need To Watch On Netflix - Duration: 5:58.
Gone are the days of endlessly searching video stores for some undiscovered gem.
Instead, it's all about endlessly scrolling through Netflix in search of something fresh
and new to watch.
It's hard to tell what's good or not, so here are some overlooked comedies from the past
few decades that are just as good as if not better than all those big, broad blockbusters.
Casa de Mi Padre
Despite being an A-list movie star, Will Ferrell isn't usually one to rest on his laurels and
do the same thing over and over again.
He likes to innovate and make good comedy that interests him, and if other people like
it, great.
This is one of those kinds of movies.
Casa de Mi Padre is an exercise in both comic tenacity and silliness, as it's a parody of
a telenovela and is filmed almost entirely in Spanish.
It should be noted that Ferrell, as a noble rancher in Mexico, doesn't speak Spanish all
that well as he deals with both an untrustworthy brother and a fearsome drug lord.
But that's all part of the comedy.
Goon
Seann William Scott has been largely relegated to bully and sidekick roles, such as Stifler
in the American Pie series and as Chester in Dude, Where's My Car?.
In Goon, he's front, center, and often bloody as the star of this charming hockey comedy.
Scott plays Doug, a dumb but good-natured guy who works as a bouncer but doesn't really
know what to do with his life.
"Doug did not follow in the family vocation, he's.."
"I bounced"
"Like a basketball?"
Then he discovers he has a knack for being a hockey enforcer or "goon," the guy who violently
body-checks opposing players.
Goon was written by Superbad co-writer Evan Goldberg and Knocked Up star Jay Baruchel,
who co-stars as Scott's best friend.
Little Evil
Part light-hearted comedy, part horror movie about the rise of a new antichrist, Little
Evil mashes up elements of The Omen with domestic hijinks about a newly married, sensitive modern
man trying his hardest to bond with his wife's dark and withdrawn young son.
Gary just can't seem to get five-year-old Lucas to open up to him.
"I'm sure it feels like we've been moving really fast but I'm your step-father now"
"Get out."
As it turns out, Lucas's strange ways are nature, not nurture his biological dad is
the actual devil but Gary will do whatever it takes to fend off the forces of evil when
Satan wants Lucas back to trigger the end of the world.
"He's not Satan he's just a portal to Satan and good parenting it's about keeping that
portal shut."
You know, your typical blended family stuff, just with a touch of evil incarnate.
"I'm sorry I buried you in the backyard … That's alright.
I get it."
Masterminds
Usually, movies that are based on a true story are dramas.
But sometimes life is a little more absurd, such as the circumstances that led to the
1997 robbery of millions from cash handling company Loomis Fargo.
As demonstrated by the events of Masterminds, it wasn't exactly the crime of the century.
A petty criminal named Steve convinces his girlfriend Kelly to plan the heist by romancing
David, a mild-mannered Loomis Fargo driver, into being their inside man and point man.
David makes a ton of mistakes in the lead-up to the robbery, the robbery itself, and its
aftermath.
"Gonna put a cap in their ass…
OH OH DAVID!
Oh that burns"
All in all, it's a goofy crime caper where absolutely nothing goes right, which means
it's okay to laugh.
The Trip to Italy
This low-key comedy originated as a BBC series which was later edited into a feature film,
just like the two prequels that preceded it.
The Trip documented Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon taking a restaurant tour of northern England,
while the plots of The Trip to Spain and The Trip to Italy are self-explanatory.
The series peaks with the Italian version.
The British actors and comedians play heightened, more callous versions of themselves.
They make fun of each other, each other's work, and engage in semi-improvised comedy
bits as they scarf down handmade pasta in one tiny roadside eatery after another.
"Steve's having a little sleep have a drink, so ah… at his age he needs a nap after lunch
so ah… he gets confused."
Adding to the comedy and the lost-in-paradise vibe is that neither Coogan or Brydon knows
much of anything about food.
Bachelorette
This indie ensemble comedy might seem like a Bridesmaids knock-off, but while it concerns
a small group of close-knit friends leading up to a wedding, it actually tells an uncomfortable
story about people reckoning with the awful things they did in the past.
Three friends reunite to attend the wedding of their old friend Becky, and they're more
than a little resentful that the one they used to make fun of beat them to the altar.
As the wedding draws closer, many embarrassing secrets are shared, and the main cast also
manages to get up to some cringe-inducing slapstick.
But hey, this is a comedy about going to a wedding, so you can be sure that almost everything
is patched up by the end.
The Polka King
Finally, a movie about a greedy, street-smart hustler that also involves polka!
That's The Polka King, a true story that's so incredibly ridiculous that it could only
be presented as a comedy.
Jack Black is perfectly cast as Jan Lewan...
"So which one is it, Yan or Jan?"
"It's whatever you want."
"Which one is it?"
"I don't know."
a polka band leader and entrepreneur who's
only real crime is a blind adherence to the American Dream…well, that and fraud.
"In Poland everybody do bribes.
Do you do bribes?"
In addition to his band, Lewan runs a gift shop and a record label, only he can't quite
pay the bills.
After a chance meeting with an elderly couple who want to invest in his secretly failing
enterprise, he starts selling securities with an impossibly good rate of return.
But he doesn't stop there, and his antics eventually involve millions of ill-gotten
dollars.

Overwatch - 2018 SUMMER GAMES Start Date & Brand New Event Speculation - Duration: 8:57.
What's up everybody this is Master Ian Gamer and as the summer rolls on, we grow ever closer
to the 2018 Summer Games event… or do we?
While I think it's inevitable that we'll be getting a late summer Overwatch event once
again, it's possible that this year it will be something more or less brand new.
So I'll be talking about this possibility in this video, along with what day we can
expect the Summer event to start.
Let's jump right on in!
First up, let's quickly discuss the start date.
Considering when the event started in 2016 and 2017, it was on August 2nd and August
8th, respectively.
Thus, given that under normal circumstances Overwatch events tend to start on a Tuesday,
it seems possible that in 2018 it could be starting on either July 31st or August 7th.
However, I personally think it'll be on August 7th for a couple reasons.
Summer Games has historically been the August content release for Overwatch, so having it
start in August seems more likely.
But even more so, is that it starting on the 7th will space it out better after the release
of Wrecking Ball onto live servers.
From a business standpoint, it's a good idea to separate major content releases, so
doing this will allot more time for people to enjoy Hammond before the event rolls around
and players get hyped once again.
Now that I've touched on its start date, what about the possibility of the Summer Games
being rebranded or reworked into something different?
Why is this even an idea worth mentioning in the first place?
Well, for those of us who have been playing Overwatch since its launch, this year will
be the third time we get the Summer Games event.
Sure, each time it has introduced brand new skins and other content, but overall it's
been basically the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Blizzard previously stated that for their second year of Overwatch, their main goal
was to experiment with refining the events which had been introduced during the game's
first year.
This not only allowed them to improve what was already good in year one, but also devote
more development time to certain things.
For example, during year one we got several Epic skins during most events because the
dev team was busy building the events from the ground up.
But, come year two, most of the groundwork was already done, so they could designate
more time to designing almost exclusively Legendary skins.
However, even if we're continuing to get dope new skins every time an event comes back around,
simply getting a rehash of something we've seen before can get old pretty quickly, and
many of us older players are already starting to get event fatigue after only two years
of the same events.
Therefore, in an effort to spice things up and keep the player base excited, Blizzard
may end up giving us something brand new just like back in year one.
Some people have speculated that since every past event item became available again during
the 2018 Anniversary event, that could mean that Blizzard is planning to retire all that
content now that we're in year three.
Consider Anniversary as having been a sort of "last chance" to get anything from the
first two years before starting fresh.
However, I strongly doubt that this is the case.
It's only year three.
Maybe around year five I could see Overwatch reaching a point where each event has so much
limited time content that it'll prove troublesome to have it all crammed in that event's one
loot box, thus giving Blizzard just cause to "retire" certain older items.
But there's one big reason why I find even this to be somewhat unlikely, and it also
serves as a good reason for Blizzard to continue recycling events overall, which is Overwatch
newcomers.
Why scrap old content which could catch the eye of new players who are ready and willing
to spend money on loot boxes?
Regardless of whether Blizzard decides to go with some kind of radical event rework
or just keeps calling it Summer Games, I'm confident that old event skins will continue
to return every year for at least a good while yet.
So let me just say that nobody needs to get worried about that.
However, considering again the veteran players who have been around since the beginning and
already have the old skins, where's the new excitement for them?
I think in year three, we're going to start seeing changes to the existing events that
are more than just the content additions we got in year two, but less than total event
reworks.
And we may even have a bit of leaked evidence to support this.
As many of you likely remember from a couple weeks ago, a potentially leaked Sombra skin
was discovered on the PTR.
When equipping her default skin and golden gun, going invisible would show this skin
instead of her normal default weapon.
Now, I talked more about it in a previous video of mine, which you can find linked to
in a card on screen, but many people noted that this weapon skin seemingly resembles
the nationality specific Epic skins that some heroes got during the first Summer Games event
back in 2016.
If this is indeed what we're looking at, then it seems to indicate that Blizzard could
be adding more national Epic skins this year, one of which is for Sombra.
But furthermore, if Blizzard is introducing more new Epic skins for an event, could it
possibly be because they are instead investing a lot of development time in other areas of
the event, just like they did throughout year one of Overwatch?
Could this possibly mean that something big and new is coming for Summer Games 2018?
Admittedly, it's a bit of a stretch, and could just as easily be a creative choice
on Blizzard's part that's completely unrelated to content development time.
But it is worth considering.
We got three new Epic skins with the 2018 Anniversary event, and they were the first
new event Epic skins in over a year.
If nothing else, I think we can expect something to change in year three, as indicated by the
return of these kinds of skins.
Now, to be honest, I think the most likely thing we're going to see change is the event's
limited time game mode.
As much fun as Lucioball has been, it's time to move on.
I have heard some interesting ideas on how it could be revitalized.
One in particular that I like comes from a CG generalist named Puppetsquid.
His idea revolves around using Control Point maps to make a Street version of Lucioball,
and even includes Orisa as a goalie with her barrier as the goal.
Puppetsquid made a video outlining the idea in detail on his YouTube channel, so I recommend
that you guys go check it out afterwards.
I'll have a link to it in the description and in the cards on screen.
However, despite Lucioball's many die hard fans, I think we need to get something truly
different for Summer Games 2018.
That doesn't mean Lucioball has to go away, as we've seen past events host multiple
game modes at once.
But something brand spanking new seems like the best course of action for Blizzard to
reinvigorate enthusiasm from Overwatch's older players.
As for what exactly that will be, well, I'm not really sure.
I would love to see something as fun and replayable as Junkentein's Revenge, but I'd rather
not set my expectations too high.
Now that we have a literal playable ball in the game, I'd love to see what kind of unique
game modes could be made using Hammond.
Aside from a game mode though, we might also get something completely out of left field.
For a while, I've been wondering if and when Blizzard will ever introduce a new kind
of cosmetic, as in one that would have its own category in the Hero Gallery.
An idea which has been floating around the community for some time now is weapon specific
skins, or at least being able to switch the weapons between the already existing skins
in game.
After all, we do already have a weapons category which currently only contains the golden guns.
Adding a major game addition like this would certainly be an exciting way to kick off the
third year of Overwatch.
But again, I'd rather not set my expectations too high.
All I know is that Blizzard is going to need to find some way to wow us during these recycled
events if they want to keep the attention of long time players.
Now you may have noticed that I haven't talked at all yet about my new skin expectations
for Summer Games 2018.
And, if you've been around on my channel for a while now, then you know that it's
because I've got a seperate video dedicated to just that which I'll be uploading not
long after this one.
So, if you don't want to miss out on all the cool new summer skin ideas and speculation,
then be sure to subscribe to my channel and turn on notifications.
Anyways, let me know down in the comments below what you think about all this.
Do you think we're going to end up getting a radically reworked event for Summer Games
2018?
Or will it be more like the rehash events we got last year?
Either way, thank you so much for watching, be sure to leave a like if you enjoyed this
video, and share it with a friend if you really liked it.
