Hello, everyone!
I have just demo the lotus flower painting.
And this is it.
In this lotus flower painting,
I use the techniques of Gonbi & brush painting that I mentioned last time.
The lotus flower in the middle is painted by Gonbi technique
And the other part, I paint with brush painting technique.
Therefore, a painting does not need to be painted solely by Gonbi or brush painting.
You apply the mix of both techniques in a painting.
As long as you can master these techniques, you can apply them on your work.
I received a message from a friend at US,
he asked me after watching the last video.
He asked, apart from Gonbi and brush painting,
how to show light & shadow in Chinese painting.
There are different way to show the shadow & light in Chinese painting.
For example, in landscape painting, there are different kind of brushstokes.
And in Gonbi painting, the use of coloring would be the method to show the shadow & light as well.
Actually, this question has also been extended to a idea
that I have thought for a long time.
I personally like art very much. And I love painting very much.
Painting brings me the happiness that money can't buy.
I hope other people can also get the happiness through painting.
So I want to use this YouTube platform to have some videos to introduce Chinese painting
from some very basic knowledge.
I hope it will be a more systematic series of videos
And what will I'm going to include?
Beginning from the most basic stuffs,
starting by introduction of painting tools,
such as paper, painting brush, ink, and colour.
Gonbi and brush painting, that have already been talked about…
The three major areas of Chinese painting:
flowers & birds, landscapes and portrait will also be included.
Each areas will have demonstration as well.
Also, I would like to talk about the history of Chinese painting.
Because every culture or art would evolve/ change with time and history,
and with different dynasties.
Different painting styles also come along with history.
The trend of styles would also affect the works of the painters at that period.
So I will talk about, for example,
Ming Dynasty, Qing Dynasty, Song Dynasty, Yuan Dynast,
and then to modern era, etc.
Each dynasty will be introduced along with some remarkable painters of their time.
Also the artworks that are worthy of our appreciation.
I'd show the good artworks of those remarkable painters
so it would help us to know what is a good artwork look like.
I have this idea for a long time.
I hope that I can pass the information and knowledge I know
about Chinese painting to other people through this YouTube Channel.
So that people who are not Chinese,
who don't speak or read Chinese,
and even people live in the rest of the world
can acquire more knowledge and understanding of Chinese art.
I hope this is a starting point.
From here, different people around the world
can get in touch with Chinese painting.
