Waching daily Jul 30 2018

Weather forecasters, meanwhile, say the heat wave won't be letting up any time soon.

In fact, here in Seoul we're looking at highs of around 39 degrees this week.

The heat's caused a surge in electricity demand, and that has led to power failures.

The government says the electricity supply has now stabilized, but there'll be another

peak in the second week of August.

And what was a typhoon over Japan... now looks like it won't be bring us much rain at all.

Kim Hyo-sun reports.

Typhoon Jongdari, which has brought heavy rain to Japan, continues to weaken as it heads

towards South Korea's resort island of Jeju.

The Korea Meteorological Administration says the typhoon had weakened to a tropical depression

by Sunday afternoon,... but warned that it will still bring strong winds to South Korea's

east coast on Monday and the south coast on Tuesday.

The weather office added that the heat wave that has led to power failures will continue.

The government says electricity supply has been stabilized as of last Friday.

While the daily electricity demand peaked at 92-point-48 million kilowatts on July 24th,...

it remained around 90 million kilowatts throughout the rest of last week.

The electricity reserve margin which alerted the nation as it dropped into the seven-percent

range last Wednesday has jumped back to around nine percent,... closer to the ten percent

mark at which power supply is considered stable.

Yet, the government cannot let its guard down as we near August,... when electricity use

is expected to rise again.

Jul. 25, 2018 "The second week of August, when most companies

resume operations, is considered the electricity usage peak for the summer.

We'll face no major challenges even during the peak as we've increased the supply capacity

by at least one million kilowatts."

As this year's unexpected heat wave has put the nation's electricity supply on red alert,...

the government continues to come up with additional measures to tackle the problem.

Lawsuit filed against BMW Korea after auto blazes - Duration: 0:51.

A group of BMW owners have filed a lawsuit against BMW Korea after in the first case

related to engine fires that led the German automaker to recall more than 106-thousand

units of 42 of its models.

Four BMW car owners together filed a suit at the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's

Office on Monday against the German automaker and its official dealer Deutsche Motors.

The plaintiffs' lawyer says they're asking for around 45-hundred U.S. dollars each...

and could request more in damages depending on the results of an inspection.

The plaintiffs argue that the automaker concealed the defect in the engines and did not do enough

to prevent vehicles from catching fire.

So far at least seven BMW 520d XDrive vehicles have caught fire in Korea this year while

on the road.

U.S. paid no money to North Korea for the repatriation of remains of American troops - Duration: 1:46.

North Korea returned 55 sets of soldiers' remains to the U.S on Friday.

And while reports and government officials have said that Pyongyang had been reimbursed

for related caosts, it appears that no money was exchanged this time around.

Lee Ji-won has more.

The U.S. says it made no payments to North Korea for the return of the remains of American

troops last week.

Answering a question from South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, the U.S. State Department spokesperson

Heather Nauert wrote that the Secretary of Defense has the authority to reimburse the

North, or any other country, for expenses associated with the recovery and storage of

remains.

But in this instance, it said North Korea did not ask for money and no money was exchanged.

The message went on to say that the repatriation was part of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un's

commitment to the promise he made to U.S. President Donald Trump and that it is one

of the palpable implementations of the Joint Statement, agreed by the two leaders in Singapore

last month.

This comes after North Korea on Friday returned 55 boxes of remains of American soldiers killed

in the Korean War.

Prior to the return, a Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency official had said that, though the

U.S. government does not pay any government or individual for the remains of missing Americans,...

it is authorized to reimburse the North for the costs of the operation, from recovery

to return.

A Congressional Research Service report showed that Washington paid 28 million U.S. dollars

to North Korea for the recovery of remains between 1996 and 2005, as a reimbursement

for the costs of their joint field activities.

General-level meeting set for tomorrow... North Korea requests meeting first - Duration: 1:57.

On Tuesday, South and North Korea will be sending military generals to the border village

of Panmunjom... to talk about ways to implement parts of April's inter-Korean summit agreement.

The objective is to reduce military tensions.

And apparently this second meeting of generals comes at North Korea's request.

Lee Seung-jae reports.

South and North Korea will hold their second general-level military talks on Tuesday at

the Peace House, on the Southern side of the truce village of Panmunjom,.. to discuss measures

to enforce the military portion of their April summit agreement.

The general-level military talks were first proposed by Pyongyang,...

who showed disappointment over the lack of progress during their first meeting back in

June.

"Let's not have such talks again.

The military.... it's disappointing.

We fully understand your stance, but next time let's prepare more so that something

like this doesn't happen again."

Major General Kim Do-gyun will be leading South Korea's five-member delegation, while

the Lieutenant General An Ik-san will lead the North Korean delegation.

The two sides are expected to discuss measures to build trust and increase arms control,...

such as disarming the Joint Security Area in the DMZ,... and possibly withdrawing troops

and military equipment from border guard posts.

Also on the agenda, could be the idea of a joint project to excavate the remains of troops

in the DMZ,... who were killed during the Korean War,...

while some observers say that the military could also discuss the summit agreement to

turn the Northern Limit Line, a de facto sea border, into a peace zone to prevent accidental

clashes.

The first general-level military talks which were held for the first time in a decade,...

led to the two sides agreeing to completely restore their military communication lines.

The two Koreas hope their second talks will be even more fruitful,... in line with the

Panmunjom Declaration.

N. Korea, U.S. likely to look for common ground on denuclearization, security guarantee - Duration: 1:55.

And the main pledges from the Singapore summit -- North Korea's denuclearization, and what

it will get in return.

The repatriation may have added some momentum to that front.

It's now expected that the North and the U.S. will get back to work on denuclearization...

and the security guarantee Pyongyang wants from Washington.

Oh Jung-hee has more details.

Now that North Korea has returned more of the remains of American soldiers who died

in the Korean War... attention falls on how Pyongyang and Washington will proceed with

denuclearization talks.

Though Friday's repatriation is not directly relevant to Pyongyang's denuclearization,...

it's widely seen that the move did help both sides build trust... and therefore, could

have a positive effect on their denuclearization dialogue.

Since the June 12th summit in Singapore, North Korea and the U.S. have had difficulty moving

forward on the denuclearization front.

U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Pyongyang for the third time... but could

not meet Kim Jong-un... and after his visit, the North claimed Washington was making unilateral

demands about denuclearization and inspections.

Pyongyang began dismantling key facilities at its Sohae Satellite Launching Station -- believed

to have been the regime's key ICBM test site -- but at the same time, pressed Washington

and Seoul to declare a formal end to the Korean War.

From here on, it's expected that North Korea and the U.S. will focus on finding a middle

ground between the U.S. giving the regime a security guarantee through measures like

ending the Korean War... and Pyongyang taking steps to denuclearize.

This week, the foreign ministers of the two Koreas, the U.S., and China will all be attending

the ASEAN Regional Forum in Singapore.

Their meetings, bilateral or otherwise, could help add momentum to the Pyongyang-Washington

denuclearization talks.

OontZ Angle 3 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review - Duration: 4:13.

Hey Guys!

Eric here from CheapAssReviews

and this week we're going to be talking about

the OontZ Angle 3 portable bluetooth

speaker from Amazon.

So yeah!

Let's do that!

[Popping sound]

[Donkey sound]

What can I say, it's a 10w portable speaker,

so if you've heard one of those,

it's probably comparable.

When it's close, it's loud.

And when you're far away,

it's not as loud.

Sure the OontZ has bluetooth,

is water resistant, and it has

the rubberize exterior, but the real

selling point is the flap.

If you're like me, you're always looking

for ways to bump your childhood anthem.

And boy does the AUX port on

the OontZ make it easy.

You're be listening to Chris Rock and Barry White

express the joys of basketball infatuation.

As soon as you can say flip over

to the B side and fast forward half way through.

Let's stop that before I get a copyright strike.

OontZ!

Marketing on point.

OontZ. OontZ. OontZ.

There's your beat right there.

Heck take part of the word for the kicker

part for the high hat, add a nasty beat

and all the sudden you have a song.

I basically just copied Andrew Huang's

uh version of "Donald Derp's Sniff" video.

Uh great guy, makes great stuff.

I left a link in the video description,

but we're here for Eric so let's hear

the song I made.

[Terrible song plays]

[It's very bad]

[There's not hope for this song]

Thirty dollars.

The speaker has the looks with the

simple triangular prism shape and

from the sides the silhouette is a triangle

which is representative of strength,

power, being... uhhhh, I'm getting a lot

of blank stares in the

comment section down below,

there's a pyramid on the dollar bill guys.

Triangle equals strength and power and being.

The Oontz has rounded corners which

makes the speaker pleasing to hold

and to look at.

So much so that I recreated a

3d model of the Oontz in virtual space.

So here's that.

There's no chapter six.

You're going to ask me should

I buy the Oontz.

Well instead of answering that,

let me ask you a series of escalating questions.

Do you want it?

Do you need it?

Do you like it?

Do you envy me and my entire beautiful life?

And do you have $30.

Feel free to answer those questions

in the comments down below.

Thanks for watching my video,

if you're madly in love with me by

this point consider subscribing

like button, or uh, following me on

all my socials... you creep.

If all of that sounds like hard work,

and just smack a dack that like button for me.
