Water ice found on the Moon - Duration: 6:09.

Astronomers announced the discovery of water on the Moon, and we're gonna learn

more about it starting right now. Welcome back to Launch Pad Astronomy, I'm

Christian Ready, your friendly neighborhood astronomer, and in this

video we're going to talk about water ice that's been discovered in the

bottoms of craters on the Moon. The water and the craters are located near the

poles of the Moon, and this is important because at this location the Sun angle

is always very low. That means that sunlight never directly hits the bottom

of the craters and the temperatures in these regions never rise above -163°C.

For this reason, these locations are called "cold traps", and it's

inside these cold traps that water ice was detected. Now water has already been

detected in the cold traps of planet Mercury and dwarf planet Ceres.

However there haven't been direct observations of water on the Moon's cold

traps until now. Now the whole idea of water on an airless world is still

pretty strange. After all, daytime temperatures on the Moon reach 100°C.

That is, by definition, the boiling point of water. And because

the Moon doesn't have an atmosphere, ultraviolet radiation from the Sun would

easily break apart the molecular bonds of hydrogen and oxygen, and they would

just escape into space because the Moon just doesn't have much gravity. So

finding water on the Moon means that you've got to go looking in locations

where it can remain frozen solid as ice. And that's where these cold traps come

in. They're plunged into perpetual darkness, and any water that ends up

inside them is trapped. But how does water get inside a cold trap? Well, water

comes to the Moon the same way it came to Earth; delivered by asteroids and

comets coming in from the outer solar system. Now water has been detected on

the Moon before, at least indirectly. And sometimes there was a chance that

the hydrogen and oxygen didn't so much represent water, but represented

something else like hydroxyl. But this time the observations are direct and

definitely show the signature of water. The team used data from the Moon

Mineralogy Mapper or M3. M3 is a NASA-built instrument that

hitched a ride on India's Chandrayaan-1 spacecraft. Chandrayaan-1 launched to the

Moon in 2008 and observed the Moon for about a year before losing contact in

2009. Still, that was enough time for M3 to sample the entire lunar surface

including the polar regions. M3 is a spectrometer. That means

it takes light and spreads it out according to its color or wavelength. M3

was measuring infrared sunlight reflected from the Moon. Infrared is

important because water has a tendency to absorb certain colors or wavelengths

of infrared. That means that if there is a sample of soil, there should be no

absorption of infrared at these wavelengths. But infrared light coming

from some of the cold traps showed the unmistakable signatures of water

absorption. Now you may be wondering how M3 can detect reflected sunlight coming

from cold traps when by definition the Sun never directly shines there? However,

sunlight does reflect off of the crater walls, which in turn reflect to the

bottom of the crater and up to the spacecraft. So it's a very tiny amount of

sunlight, but it is enough for M3 to make some remarkable findings. First of all, it

found that most of the water ice exists in cold traps within about 20 degrees of

the Moon's two poles. Also, most of the ice is located in the Moon's southern

polar regions, and that makes sense because the craters down there are

larger and deeper. But what's really interesting is that of all of the

locations where water could exist, ice was only detected in about

3.5% of all of the traps. Not only that, but the craters

that actually did contain ice were older than about 2 billion years. That's very

interesting and tells us something about the history of the Moon's formation. You

see, about three and a half billion years ago, the Moon underwent a period of heavy

bombardment. Massive asteroids smashed the Moon on one side, liquefying its

interior. As it erupted as molten lava, that lava distributed

self to form the Maria that we see today. But it also had the effect of

hollowing out one side of the Moon's interior.

This caused the Moon to wobble a little bit, and it's starting around two billion

years ago, new cold traps began to form. But maybe there just hasn't been enough

time for ice to accumulate there yet. But there's something else that's really

cool about the story. Water is used to make rocket fuel!

Getting water off the Earth is very difficult and very expensive. Lifting it

off the Moon on the other hand is quite a lot easier. That means that our

nearest celestial neighbor can serve as a fuel depot for potential human

expansion into the solar system. It's nice to know that there's yet another

reason to go back to the Moon and I hope we can do that someday soon. By the way,

speaking of water, did you know that they discovered water in a lake underneath

the surface of Mars? Oh and speaking of Moons, did you know that they found 12

new Moons around Jupiter? I'll have links to those videos in the

an anonymous Google employee has leaked a secret plan—

Google is creating a censored search engine

just for the Chinese market.

It will appeal to the sensibilities of a Chinese audience.

And by that,

I mean it censors all the stuff the Chinese Communist Party

doesn't want them to know about,

like the Tiananmen Square Massacre.

I guess it's a good thing Google already removed

the "don't be evil" bit from its code of conduct.

We'll have more on Google in a future episode.

In other news—and this is big, folks—

Democrats and Republicans have agreed on something:

spending money.

Congress just passed the National Defense Authorization Act.

It's the defense policy bill that determines

the annual budget for the Defense Department.

Let's just say it's a pretty big budget.

And it specifically targets the Chinese Communist Party

on a range of issues, like:

military activity in the South China Sea,

theft of US technology,

and political warfare.

It's part of a larger trend.

US lawmakers have finally watched enough China Uncensored

to figure out that the Chinese Communist Party has been waging

unrestricted warfare against the United States.

And they're actually willing to take action.

Of course speaking of US-China war,

I can't help but think about the current trade war.

President Trump had threatened a 10% tariff

on 200 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods.

The Chinese Communist Party was not happy.

So, Trump decided to double down and make it a 25% tariff

on $200 billion dollars worth of Chinese goods.

The Chinese Communist Party...

is even not happier.

And they've vowed to retaliate.

While those tariffs are not in effect right now,

and won't be until after "a period of public comment,"

the Chinese regime is already crying blackmail.

And they have a point.

I mean, Trump is basically threatening them with high tariffs

unless they actually start following international trade

and intellectual property rules.

Which is exactly the same as blackmail.

And you know, it's not just that.

Trump is being unfair when it comes to Taiwan, too.

The US has the audacity to allow a stop-over in the US by Tsai Ing Wen,

the President of the Republic of China,

also known as Taiwan,

also known as the country/region-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named,

the stop over will happen next month on her way to Belize and Paraguay.

I mean, can you believe it?

The Chinese Communist Party is, unsurprisingly,

demanding that the US stop the stopover.

Maybe they're just concerned that she'll have

a bad impression of the US.

Especially if she has a four-hour layover at LAX.

And finally, why is this Chinese parking lot full of coffins?

Well, I mean, I get it.

I know what it's like to be dying to get a space.

Get it, because it's a parking lot,

and...ok moving on.

But in this case, it's part of a campaign in southeast China

to ban coffin burials.

So Chinese authorities are rounding them up...

And destroying them...

Sometimes even during a funeral

I really don't think that's showing proper respect to the dead.

Police are even digging up graves.

So Chinese police are literally grave robbers.

Wonderful.

And guys, I've seen a lot of movies.

I know how this ends.

Zombies.

But seriously, this is causing outrage in China.

On September 1,

Jiangxi Province officials will implement a zero burial policy.

That means people will have to be cremated.

A lot of Chinese people are not comfortable with that.

But when has the Chinese Communist Party cared about

the feelings of the Chinese people?

Mao Zedong called China's burial traditions

a "feudal superstition."

The same Mao Zedong who has this lovely glass coffin

in the middle of Beijing.

Though technically,

it was never a burial.

To give you an idea of how passionate Chinese people are about this,

a few years ago, another Chinese province tried the burial ban.

So, before the deadline for no more burials,

6 elderly people killed themselves

so they could be buried in the ground.

I mean, at least that's commitment to tradition?

And despite all the love the Chinese Communist Party gives,

just like those no good Tibetans,

there are those in Xinjiang

who want freedom and independence.

These people call Xinjiang, East Turkestan.

Which is why for years,

they were referred to as separatists or splitists.

That's the same language used against Tibetans.

But following the terrorist attacks of September 11,

the Chinese regime had a brilliant idea.

Let's start calling them terrorists!

And while that term had been leveled against Uighurs before,

the party doubled down after 9/11.

As this Jamestown Foundation piece put it,

"There is no doubt that China has taken advantage of

the world campaign against terror

in order to serve its domestic politics and foreign pursuits.

For the first time,

China felt unconstrained in using force."

Wait, for the first time?

I haven't realized that Tiananmen Square Massacare was the Party showing restrain.

And language is powerful.

When you call a bunch of Muslims terrorists,

it makes it a lot harder for them to get international sympathy,

even if they're being severely abused by the Chinese regime.

Is there what we in the US would call

terrorism going on now in Xinjiang?

Well, the Party has not provided

much convincing evidence of terrorism.

Even so, it wouldn't be too surprising.

They've been oppressed for decades.

They have no outlet to speak.

They're being forced to abandon their religious traditions.

It's possible—just possible—

that the Communist Party's actions

are actually creating the urge to be terrorists.

But also—and this is probably the majority of cases—

people who are not criminals

are being charged with the label terrorist .

But really, with the lid the Chinese regime keeps on things,

we may not ever know what's really going on in Xinjiang.

Anyway, after we cleared things out, let's discover a new Rock Band together

I've never heard of them before

They have almost 5k subscribers in their Youtube Channel

I discovered this band through 2 of their Linkin Park cover songs

The 2 songs were "in the end" & "numb"

And they were so well made, especially the "numb" cover

So I wanted to make a reaction video to one of their songs because of their talent

It's an original music video called "Promises"

I hope that it'd be something really nice, because I'm a fan of Rock Music

I don't really listen to rock music that much, but I'm still a fan, ROCK N'ROLL Bro!

So let's check this music video out together, and discover together this new band

that is obviously good

And maybe they'll be one of my favorite new bands

For a new band, they have an incredible potential

It's such a great song

They rocked my soul with this one

this is a piece of art, especially the music video

And it's chain of events and storyline

It's a really nice work

According to what I understood from this

This Music Video tells either a story of that kid who is paranoid

because of his family, because everybody is just so busy with their own problems to the point that they forgot about him

That kid became so confused because he didn't find anybody to take care of him and be there for him

Or ! that kid

Is himself in all of those different rooms, but in different periods of time

When he was old, or when he was a teenager fighting with his friends, or when he was an adult fighting with his wife or girlfriend

And as a kid he was watching his future and how things were going to fall all apart

And the reason the song is called promises is because those promises our loved ones make our always fake promises

Such fake promises that made him always feel lonely

DCS AJS-37 Viggen - TAXI & TAKE OFF IN MANUAL & AUTO MODE - English subtitles - Duration: 20:21.

Hey what happen panda this is Revientor Reborn in DCS wold

With the AJS-37 Viggen, today´s tutorials si very simple is about the taxi, and takeoff, but in the takeoff is going to be a very interesting things

Since I am studying this plane, I am looking things that are disappointing me, the quality of this module is not as good as I expected

The manual say that some funcionalitis are present but... not they are not...

second video second thing that is nor working...

I hope the next video have all working... lol

I want to tell you something that you can do in ramp start or taxi, is the compass declination,

that error that all compass have, is fixed acording where in the planet you are, with this knob in here

in this simulator is not simulated... but the manual say it is working...

do not forget to remove the translucen cover... but I hope see this working in the future, right now do nothing....

there is no movement of the knob

here in the caucaso you have to set a value of -6

you have to set up your weapons that will be other part not here in this tutorial

check the hotas works, pedals, remember to activate the breaks, you have to press the pedals and then holding them move that switch and release the pedals

to remove the parking pedal you only have to press and release the brakes

There is no nose wheel steering on button, is always on

now you only have to perform a brake test, in theory this is the pressure brake gauge

when you press them that gauge must move... but is not...

then you have to move the plane and check if really brake it. Remember I never speak about radio protocols, you have other video for that

press the brake and of course they work

now when performing taxi the first meters I will move the nose in both side to check if the nws works perfect

it works and now time to taxi

normally in this turns the plane must have idle power... to avoid sweep a area that is not clean of things

in straight line you get enough inercia to perform the turn in idle

I always remember to you that I never speak aboutr radio protocols in this tutorials, all the planes have the same protocol and all country and airbases can have different protocols... for that I have a tutorial ATC management for you with the mirage200 but it´s the same for all

now in the runway

try to keep a perfect line up with the runway

the idea is visually be parallel with the middle and lateral lines not about the compass

why? because now are some test and a calibration of the systems

first, perform a fast erect of the horizontal indicator

press the button and you will see a very small movement, and now it´s totally leveled

now the important thing, about the line up. One remark here. When you use the brakes to brake, in my case I usually press before one brake than other

do not use the diferencial brake to turn to avoid overheating

in this plane there is the reverse, now if I add power I go back, the problem now is If I brake...

did you see? the nose went up and the tail almos hit the ground, always when using reverse use the engine to brake, turning of or on the reverse

for that when on the runway I prefer use the reverse to brake in that case I avoid the diferencial brake inprecision

now when stop I use the brakes, turn of the reverse and my line up is the desired one

in the DTC that you loaded when the ramp start you have the info of a ton of airbases, and that info have the headings of the runways

we know that we are going to takeoff from the runway 30, and the DTC knows the heading of the runway 30 is 305º for example

I am going to use the reference button, there you have the name and key of it

is present in the stick is this button over here

when you press the reference button you force a manually update of the heading right now

you have to do it always, it can be manual or automatic

the manual is just press the button now, the system will line up the heading, in the HUd, HSI and horizont

the plane knows that we are in the heading of the runway 30, for that will fix the heading to 305

if you where out of the runway, and you press the reference button, the system will think,->

the system say heading 222 and in this airbase there is the runway 30 with the heading 305 between those two values are more than 15º of difference, now the system with this data will check all the runways in its data base on this airbase, to see if someone match with it,

if match with the oposite runway or other additional runway, that runway heading will be fixed from the data base

if nothing mach, other runways oposite headings... a fault light will be light up THIS ONE -

and that means the alignment was unsuccessful

then you will have to reset the system to make a proper alignment, to do it, you only have to change the computer to stby and go back again to nav

if you land and want to takeoff again you have to reset the system to make again this procedure and solve the nav errors

that is the manual form, I am going to do it now see

the movement is really small here

there!!! it was really small, believe me xD

the automatic way if you do not did this, will be performed, when you are in the run for the takeoff, between 110km/h to 200 km/h, that alignment will be automatically done there

why perform the manual one? the automatic one is for days like today that the plane is going to takeoff with out external wind or raining...

the manual is good when there is strong wind or the runway is sliperry, because in that condition when the automatic way fix the heading due the wind may be your heading is not the same as the runway

now my deception with the sim in this thing, is a really cool feature in the real plane

the speed to takeoff is indicated for this symbol over here

right now when you are in the takeoff mode, the flight path marker is a reference to show how much is need to get the proper speed

this is 0 km/h and ones this FPM was getting higher and higher, the speed of course is more, and when the FPM is at this altitude, is when you have to move your stick back, slowly, to start the rolling and that will get the speed automatically to takeoff

that is not the implemented part, but according the manual it is implemented,

once you are took off, the FPM change its mode, is the pitch mode, if you keep it in the horizontal line, that means you are in a positive pitch of 10º

if you move the plane until you place the FPM up here that menas the pith is 13º

I like more use 13º because I feel safe visually

once you take off you have to retract the landing gear, be careful because when you retract it, the FLAPS go to nav mode and you lose lift

there you can see the flap there in front

the takeoff mode will change automatically to nav mode when the plane is over 0.35 mach, or when the 10º or 13º parameter are over by 5º up or down

do not forget set the altimeters 0 feet on the runway, ask to ATC about the pressure

now we are ready for take off, the speed is 200 km/h to 310 km/h, according to the weight of the plane

A plane with fuel and AA missiles is around 250 km/h, use that speed always as minimal

the wheels can not be in touch with the ground up to 320km/h that can make them to explote

and the landing gear must be retracted before the 600 km/h

the manual say two ways to takeoff, with a 10º pitch, with military thrust, with a rolling in 280km/h or the other way with a pitch of 13º afterburner on rolling at 250km/h

the afterburner have 3 stages, normally you will only use 2 of them , then nº3 is the plane is really heavy you will use it, but with the 2 first stage is more than enough for take off in all situation

the HUD the manual say that you must use the down position to takeoff, but now in the up mode I see all the info in the down part no... I think this is a problem with the 3D design of the cockpit in DCS

I think that is due a bad 3d ckpit design, because If I do this, in this elevation is perfect, If I could move the seat, I will set up this position and this will be awesome

to takeoff, brakes on, engine test, 80% there you can check the instruments,

all parameters are good and stabilized now you can go 100% then you can release the brake and use afterburner as desired

2 stages of afterburner to me... do not use the pedals, only the diferencial brakes just a littel to correct the heading

I forget to say about the trim, 280km/h start pulling up, gear up,

330 good speed trim the plane.. 400 military trust, look the HUD now its different and the next waypoint had been selected, one you takeoff this is automatic

about the trim, acording the plane´s weight you have to set up a trim value, here is the value, for takeoff with a clean plane only the center line fuel tank, you need a trim of 3 points

the more the weight the more the trim value
