Waching daily Aug 28 2018

This nudibranch is a little thief.

It's got no problem with helping itself to it's neighbor's stuff.

Also called sea slugs, they're basically snails but without the protective shells.

They're soft and squishy… and not exactly speedy.

You'd think they'd want to keep a low profile.

But they're out there - showing off.

Because their colors are actually a warning.

Some of these nudibranchs have found a devious way to defend themselves, by stealing weapons

from someone else.

See this?

It's a hydroid.

Friendly little seaweed, maybe?

Nope, it's actually an animal related to jellyfish.

And it has the sting to prove it.

Hydroids have tentacles they use to catch food floating by.

They're covered in stingers that pack an excruciating, paralyzing venom.

they're called nematocysts.

That's them right there.

They're the same type of potent weaponry that make jellyfish so dangerous.

Mess with them and they explode, shooting out tiny harpoons full of venom.

Which is why most creatures want nothing to do with them.

But nudibranchs are all about it.

They devour hydroids.

Lots of those nematocysts fire off in the nudibranch's mouth.

But it's unfazed.

They seem to have a taste for spicy food.

Here's the thing though, some of those nematocysts don't detonate right away.

They aren't mature enough yet.

And that's the key to the nudibranch's scheme.

It swallows the immature stingers whole.

And they travel through the nudibrach's crazy-looking digestive tract which extends

into the spikes on its back, called cerata.

See that that dark area inside?

It's part of the digestive system that connects to the gut.

The stingers are collected at the very tip, where they mature.

Until the nudibranch feels threatened.

That's when this colorful little kleptomaniac pulls out the big guns.

It points its bristling cerata at its attacker, squirts out the stolen nematocysts and they

explode, launching their venomous harpoons.

That's enough to repel just about anyone looking for a quick bite.

Just goes to show - if you're not born with certain assets, it doesn't hurt to borrow

them.

Living in a Van: Why I Wake Up At 4am | Hobo Ahle - Duration: 10:15.

So I'm gonna do a real quick quick, as quick as I possibly can,

QA and it's gonna be on "why I wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning". So before I

start I do just kind of want to show you guys where you're posted up right here

because it's- it's something.

This is will basically, this is where y'all are sitting today.

So yeah why I wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning... it is definitely

something that I personally choose to do. I don't like have to. And yeah, I know,

anyone that knows what time I wake up and then on top of that hears that it's

a choice ... they think I'm insane. But honestly it has become like my favorite

thing ever like in life. And little side note: I know that there's kind of

like this general assumption I suppose... and of course not amongst everyone, just

there's you know, a large group of people are under the impression that if

you live in a van then you're kind of just I don't know I guess they think

that people are traveling all the time, and not working, and taking advantage of

the system or something I don't really know. But so then it's like well "why

would someone who lives in a vehicle need to have self discipline, and self

control, and be productive, and learn time management, and efficiency, and things

like that?" But it's like- So for the longest time when I first moved into a

vehicle I still had like a physical job where I had to be there at a certain

time and I had to work specific days. Over the course of a couple of years I

converted my lifestyle with the focus being to have more mobility. And so

that's when I really started to try and get like jobs online and see how I could

go about making that successful. Primarily because I wanted to pour more

of my energy into traveling or not necessarily be

like tied down to a specific location. So that definitely took some time and a lot

of effort to be able to transfer all of my work to being location independent.

And I have touched on the subject of like how to find jobs that are good for

traveling or good for this lifestyle and then I've also talked about top 10

websites to aid in actually finding said jobs. So I will be sure and link

those videos for you guys in case that's something that you need some help with.

But anyways, getting back to the point... I managed to create this lifestyle for

myself, which was my goal, but with it came this whole new territory that I had

no idea how to navigate, which was like working for yourself, or you know, setting

your own schedule... because I mean for me it's really easy when you're working for

someone and they're like "okay here's the task, I need you to get this done by 2:00pm"

It's like "alright, cool, got it." Or if you're working like a job but you know

you're working from 9:00 to 5:00... then from 9:00 till 5:00 you are doing work

things and then at 5:00 o'clock that's it, you check out, you're done. But then

working for myself and doing a lot of freelance stuff, that totally just threw

me into the realm of like you set your own schedule, you decide how much work

you do today, you decide IF you're going to work today... and so naturally that

relies heavily on like self discipline and self control. So basically the point

that I'm trying to get at is that regardless of living in vehicles or not

all of those things that I mentioned like productivity, time management,

whatever... those are all still really really important and those are skills

that I was like okay at, but after starting to work mainly through my

laptop those skills definitely needed some improvement. So for the past like I

don't know, at least year or so, I've really really really put a lot of effort

into focusing on how to just do life and I mean like in regards to those things you know what

I'm saying? So I've tried all kinds of things, basically if you guys saw in my

nighttime routine video how I use a planner and I even you know, wrote down

my routine to check it off, that's kind of part of the last year's worth of

experiments. And I mean I honestly don't have enough time to like try and go over

all of the stuff that I have attempted in an effort to be more productive or

whatever, but I will say that one of the things that I tried and that I

absolutely love is waking up early. So in all honesty, I do not know why I chose

4:00 in the morning. I know that like I feel like I wanted to be up before the

Sun that was like.... goals. 5 is like ok in my head, but like it's still kind of late.

And trust me I know that that sounds insane, like 5 o'clock in the morning is

not late like that's that it's early, but for me like in my head that just sounded

late. So I was like you know what? I think I think I'm just gonna go for 4, like

thug life. So I think we finally made it to "why I like waking up at 4 o'clock in

the morning" is because first of all nobody's awake. Like the birds aren't

even really awake okay, like that's something. So I mean really I just enjoy

the quiet time that's one of the reasons is because there's just there's not a

lot going on. And I really really like being awake like at least a couple of

hours before the Sun comes up. For two reasons because 1: that means I get to

see the Sun Rise every day like how cool is that?! And 2: as I mentioned, since

there's not really anyone else awake, it kind of just already starts me off with

this feeling of like "yeah dude, you're- you're getting stuff done" And not in the

sense that like I feel like because I wake up at 4 o'clock in the morning that

like "oh I'm so much better than everyone else cuz I'm up early" It's like no, that

doesn't make me a better person at all, if anything it honestly just makes me

crazy. But what I do mean is that like ok... so since I wake up at 4 o'clock in the

morning then I immediately start like ok I have a morning routine, I've got like

daytime routine, a workflow routine type of thing... so like it just- it just keeps

going and going and going and then by like 10:30 in the morning/ 11 in the

morning I'm like "oh I have done so much" like at that point I'm pretty much done

with all of the important things that I needed to get done that day, they're

usually finished by then. So really anything that I do after 11 o'clock in

the morning it's kind of like bonus points for me. So also by waking up at 4

o'clock in the morning I feel like it just kind of it adds hours to the day. That's

how I feel. I know, math. I know it doesn't, but it just really does feel like it. And

what I will do is in the very beginning of the day it's like it's so

nice because there's I mean it's not like anywhere is open for me to go, it's

like literally "okay what am I going to do?" So what I do, is just like all of the

stuff that's important to me personally. So like this is usually the time where

like I'll meditate, I'll study my Bible, or I'll do some yoga, stuff like that

just- or I'll just sit there... sometimes yeah, I will just sit there and I guess

that's kind of like meditating I don't know... I mean there's a lot of other stuff

that I do in the morning in that like darkest hours of the dawn, but you guys

will see that in a different video so I'm not just gonna like list everything.

The point is is that I feel like I really get time to myself and it's like

kind of exciting because I get to go to sleep knowing that like the first couple

of things I'm gonna do in the morning are all the stuff like my favorite

things. So then that makes my workday go better because I'm not distracted

thinking about like "okay well I have to get all this work done, but like I really

wish I could meditate right now or I really wish I could do this or that or

whatever it is." But it's like no, I don't gotta worry about it because I already did

that stuff. So yeah it just makes my whole workday pretty awesome. And here's

the thing, like I could totally- my bad... I could wake up at like 6 o'clock right?

But I've noticed that just like my personal like

biological clock, like my brain by like 3 p.m. is like- no matter what time I wake

up like even if I sleep in until like noon, my brain by 3 o'clock is like "pffftt are you

crazy? I'm not- I'm done!" So like after that time like I can definitely still do

stuff and I can like force myself to do things that require a lot of thought and

everything, but it's one of those things where it's like whatever task

I'm doing, if I do it at like 8 o'clock in the morning it'll probably get done

like that :snaps fingers: versus I could do that same task and do it at 3 o'clock in the

afternoon and what would normally take me 10 minutes is gonna take me like 30

to 45 minutes and then it keeps going like that. So it's like at a certain

point, for me three o'clock, it's just like not worth it to do that. In all

actuality it saves time if I were to just save it for the next day. So based

on that combined with like I know how much work I typically do in a day, like

how long it takes me, so like dividing all that up timewise in

order to have enough time to do all of the things that I need to get done that

day.... wow! I feel like I was explaining that horribly, hope you got that. Anyways,

with those two things waking up at 4 a.m. is just what works best for me. I

know that waking up that early is not ideal for like most human life forms and

I'm not necessarily suggesting that you should try it. I'm just letting you know

like why I do it because when I eventually show you guys my morning

routine and mention that I wake up that early some of you guys are gonna be

like "wow she's trippin", but no, there are very valid reasons as to why I do it. And

I guess that's really about it. So I hope that you guys enjoyed this video, I'll see you next time.

Napoli 3-2 Milan | Post Match press Conference Carlo Ancellotti | Serie A - Duration: 3:21.

I did not like going a goal down

It was 1-0 last Sunday and 2-0 today but it was a different game

We deserved to be behind in Rome but I do not think that was the case today

I think Milan played well and they kept the ball well

We were forced to run a lot

But they got into the area twice and scored twice

We have to improve how we change the tempo of the game not find ourselves in this position

Once we got ourselves into trouble the team knew what it had to do

We changed things and we brought on fresh players who made a great contribution

We were able to then turn things around

I would not say that this is my Napoli

I have made my contribution but this Napoli belongs to the fans, to the club, the president

I have made my contribution and I have been satisfied with the skill levels but the emotional level has been something else

That is why I came to Napoli to be part of the strong emotions

It is something I have not experienced in recent years

If Rino had won then it would have been the pupil teaching the teacher a lesson

But it is not like that because we both have a strong passion and love for this sport

Maybe Rino has more passion than me, more desire

He has been doing an excellent job and Milan have definitely been penalised by not playing on the first day

This is true from the fitness level but they played very well and it is not easy playing here

Mertens is very good at finding space between the lines

He is good at linking at times with Insigne and then with Milik

He combined very well with Insigne on a couple of occasions

and created a chance to make it 4-2

I do not think there is competition with Milik because Mertens can play upfront alone as he did in the past

Then at times they can play together

Milik attacks the goal so midfielders can arrive late

and he creates space for the ball in behind which we did in the first half

Allan was able to get in behind to create chances and it is a move that can cause problems

Project Borealis - Update 4 - Duration: 6:37.

Hey everyone and welcome to Project Borealis developer update number 4.

This is a particularly exciting update for us as it marks the project's one-year anniversary.

Over the past year we've made a lot of progress towards bringing the gameplay players know and love into Unreal Engine 4 for this long-awaited chapter.

In update 4, we're excited to finally share with you some details on our upcoming tech demo,

which will allow fans to journey through an early slice of our development efforts within a familiar location.

Since the onset of the project the development team planned to enlist the help of the broader Half-Life community to really hone

Project Borealis' core gameplay mechanics during our transition to a new engine.

As a team, it's been important to us that Project Borealis feels like a new episodic experience within the same gameplay boundaries presented in the original

Half-Life 2 series. The tech demo provides us with a controlled environment where we've been able to combine and fine-tune

The game's visual style, combat, puzzle mechanics and movement before passing the demo over to you for feedback.

Ultimately, we both be content that we've got the gameplay right until Half-Life fans feel that way too.

Our programming team has been working hard to create a game that feels just the way you

expect it to, but with a few improvements and updates that will make the world feel more alive.

This includes enhanced sound effects, dynamic music, new interactive systems and perhaps most importantly, engaging AI.

It's important to note that while the tech demo forms the foundation on which the full game is based,

it won't necessarily reflect the finalized look feel or performance of Project Borealis.

The project is still in its early stages of active development with a lot of work yet to be done,

but we hope the demo provides a compelling glimpse at some of the final game's fundamental mechanics and visual style.

Speaking of visual style, the PB team couldn't have the tech demo set in just an ordinary development map.

So in order to help us nail Half-Life 2's Eastern European ambience,

we set our tech demo in the not-so traveled town of Ravenholm.

The team has built out an early section of Ravenholm's first level for players to venture through.

by setting the tech demo in Ravenholm, the team hopes it will make it easier for players to judge how well

Project Borealis delivers its own take on a classic Half-Life 2 level.

Fans can expect more details on the release of the Project Borealis tech demo in a future update.

During the last several months, our team has turned its attention to some of the more

humanoid characters and creatures players will come across on their journey northward, such as the resistance fighters.

Here you can see we're exploring several different iterations of a resistance fighter as we work to define

what kind of gear they'd have access to as they prepare themselves for the harsh Arctic environment.

Likewise, in this next piece the artist has sketched out some frostbitten variations of the classic Half-Life zombie

controlled by a noticeably more insulated headcrab.

Our design and concept teams have enjoyed exploring how this new environment is affected the most iconic enemies in the Half-Life universe

not only in their appearance, but also in terms of its gameplay implications.

The transition to a more modern engine allows our character artists to infuse our creatures with incredibly detailed

personality, and concept art like this is essential in helping guide that process.

Finally, we have another concept piece which depicts an early moment from Epistle 3.

Gordon and Alex find themselves narrowly avoiding death as their helicopter mysteriously crashes on their journey towards the Borealis.

Now the two must salvage what little if any supplies remain in the wreckage before making their way on foot through a harsh landscape.

Be sure to check out the link in the video description for a 360 degree version of this concept art.

The work we've shown today in both our conceptual designs and tech demo

continues to be just a sample portion of what the team has managed to create these past several months.

As active development continues progressing into increasingly spoiler territory,

the team will do its best to continue sharing artwork and gameplay which shows the project's progress without giving too much away

Lastly, the game's performance and optimization is a big focus for us.

We'll be releasing an early performance demo very soon to help us collect benchmarks and further optimize the game for a range of hardware.

The Project Borealis team is always looking for talented new individuals to work with, with current openings in the following departments:

Concept art, 3d art, visual effects, level design, programming,

animation, and web development.

If you're interested in learning more about a specific role,

you can visit our website at projectborealis.com where you can read more about each of the available positions.

A direct link to the official Project Borealis openings page can be found in the video description below.

If you see a role that interests you and you feel you can lend a few hours a week to the project we encourage you to apply.

Thanks for taking the time to watch this project borealis development update. To stay up to date with the project,

you can subscribe here to the official Project Borealis YouTube channel,

follow us on Twitter, subscribe to our subreddit or just come hang out with us on our public Discord.

Feel free to join our steam group and follow our twitch channel to take part in PB hosted community events in between our usual updates.
