President Moon Jae-in will meet this morning with the heads of 17 provincial and city governments

to craft new job creation plans.

The top office says the local government heads will present the president with their employment

stimulus plans and ideas on improving the economy.

The president will offer suggestions on how the government can support their plans.

The meeting is the first of its kind since the local government heads won their seats

in the June local elections.

It comes amid calls for stronger job creation measures following the release of some grim

employment data.

The LEGO Minifigure Protoypes were UGLY. - Duration: 1:19.

Today is the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Minifigure, so of course I have to make a

video about it, no matter HOW late it is.

Minifigures are my favorite thing about LEGO, and The LEGO Group released some cool promotional

historic artifacts about the minifigure to celebrate.

Brickset did some good articles highlighting these facts, which I've linked in the description.

But there was one segement included in the press kit that I wanted to highlight.

The prototype minifigures.

No, not the ones with no arms I recently highlighted in the top 10, THESE, which you saw a bit

of in the thumbnail - I saw them in some book a couple years back.

But as somebody who loves cancelled and prototype stuff, these are interesting because they're

so UGLY.

Like oh my gosh, thank GOD LEGO didn't go this direction for minifigures.

The moulded ears, nose, ears, eyes - yuck.

NO - NOT LIKE LEGO SIMPSONS.

These have square heads....

Like imagine a HAN SOLO or HARRY POTTER in this style.

Oof.

They also had some other prototypes, which just look bad just because they were made

with prototype materials - if finalized, they would've looked better, albeit bigger than

regular minifigures.

The brick built ones were weird too, not terrible, just odd.

Manga Senpai understood your question.

Firstable,

I'll tell you there's various type of nib pen for manga.

First, G-pen. The most popular one.

Maru pen. This gives very fine line.

And we can draw weak and strong lines also.

Then, Kabura pen.

Eh?

What does "kabura" mean? I can't explain...

It is a.k.a Saji pen.

This is a nib shapes like a spoon. Saji means "a spoon" in Japanese.

And this pen is probably only provided in Japan,

there's a pen called Nihonji pen.

It's bit similar to Kabura pen,

but this is less caught in the paper.

These nib pens easily got caught in paper unless we draw to certain direction.

From top to the bottom. We can't draw from bottom to top.

You'll got caught. But this Nihonji pen

can draw line to any direction.

But Nihonji pen is weak at draw a pointed line.

In Japanese manga term, the pointedness of line is called "Iri-nuki".

This is an outline of a zoomed line.

where the line or stroke started called "Iri".

So the end of the stroke or line is "Nuki".

How common the idea of iri-nuki?

Do you know that? Everybody.

This is a line.

The end of the line is pointed.

So it's not that necessary as before,

but it was before.

Nihonji pen is weaker than other nib pen at making iri-nuki.

It's line tends to be not pointed.

Then,

these are the popular nib pen for drawing manga use.

Some makers making each kind of nibs.

I don't know we can buy them in foreign counties but anyway...

Makers like ZEBRA, NIKKO, TACHIKAWA.

There's some nib pen makers,

And the hardness of nib is slightly different between makers.

So we used to find each favorite nib pen before.

And recently makers like ZEBRA

developed G-pen specialized for manga use.

OK, so I'll tell you tips to use nib pens today.

At first,

buy this manga specialized G-pen somehow.

These for manga G-pen is greatly easy to use.

They don't got caught so much.

That's G-pen specialized for manga.

So here's very tips for using nib pens.

With nib pens, since it easily got caught in papers,

we can't draw lines we like...

favorite sen...

favorite line...

Drawing lines freely with nib pen is a difficult thing to do.

And these's some points you should know to make it easier.

The common one is,

the ink is not coming out.

It frequently occurs.

The reason why it happens is oil on the nib.

It was put when nibs are manufactured to avoid rusting.

This is a well-known story.

So some people bake nibs with lighter.

Oil volatiles by baking and it makes the ink comes out.

It's a lie.

I've heard it is a lie.

People from the nib maker ZEBRA told me that

they don't put such oil on their nibs.

So we don't have to burn nibs. Totally not.

He said "Baking nibs causes nibs deteriorate so don't do that".

When you feel like the ink is not coming from a brand new nib pen,

just rub with tissue paper.

With the ink or the water. It makes the ink comes out.

The problem will solved immediately.

And here's another point. I'm telling this always,

and maybe I've said it previously,

The reason why people say the ink doesn't come out is

mostly the reason I'm going to tell you.

The reason is, people touches manga drawing paper too much.

People touch papers with their bare hands.

But when you touch papers with your finders

you put your oil on your fingers on the papers.

Though you touch it slightly,

your oil is on the paper, and the oil repels the ink.

The oil makes the nib too slippy also.

So many people suffer this problem.

This is my opinion. So

DON'T TOUCH MANGA DRAWING PAPER. REALLY.

It' just the rims of the paper you can touch.

SO, generally you need to wear a grove and never touch the papers with your hand.

When you touched it, drawing with nib pens gets extremely difficult.

What if you touched it accidentally?

You can remove some oil with Neri-keshigomu.

What do you call it in English?

Flabby eraser.

(kneaded eraser)

You know there's a things like that.

You roll the kind of eraser on the manga drawing paper.

It removes the oil a bit and make the situation slightly easier.

But keep the paper untouched is the first priority.

Pay attention to that.

The other causes of making inking with nib pen difficult is,

too thick ink.

Once you opened the cap the ink evaporates steadily.

Only the water in ink evaporates so the ink becomes thick.

Thick ink causes difficult inking.

So

prepare the ink,

and a cup of water.

A cup of water.

You put the ink on your nib.

And then put it in the water slightly, just for a second.

Then you draw. A manga artist I know uses this technique.

This solves the problem of thick ink.

It worths to try. It's possible.

Then...

Isn't that hard to know when you should change your nib?

It depends on individuals and there's various timing to change.

Some manga artists changes the nib to new one after drawing 1 page.

Some artists change before finishing 1 page.

Of course some people use a nib more longer.

I was a one who use a nib quite longer.

I know you don't know how long is "quite longer".

Approximately...

5 or 6 pages per a nib.

You'll feel like a nib tired if you keep using it.

You'll see that. So I recommend you to

use new nib and old nib both.

You draw fine line with newer nib,

use old nib when you want bolder lines.

That's what I do when I was using physical materials.

I'm speaking too Japanese today.

Then, though your nib gets old

like "I can't draw anything anymore"

you can recover it by

bending the nib with hand like this.

The point of a nib get widen as it gets old.

So cross the point like this

Then get it back where it used to.

The nib becomes like a new one.

What should I tell you more?

You can customize your nib pen as suitable for you.

This pen, I customized a bit.

I made the hole to put a nib deeper.

General length of G-pen is too long for me.

It causes unstable line.

I drilled the hole with a nib for a long time.

So the hole got deeper.

It's important to customize your tools as it helps you to draw nicely.

Use pen which is easier to use.

The final and most important thing to tell you is,

The angle of a nib.

The angle between a nib and a paper.

Some people draw line with angle of nearly 90 degrees.

It might be difficult to draw.

Well, I have to draw something actually to show you the angle.

So I'll tell you the further technique of using G-pen,

by using it actually in the next episode.

Continued heavy downpours batter parts of South Korea - Duration: 1:22.

Torrential downpours continued through Wednesday night in South Korea,... causing damage to

homes, stores and streets.

With more than 70 millimeters of rain falling per hour in some parts of the country,...

Heavy downpours that continued for a second day on Wednesday dumped over four-hundred

millimeters of rain on parts of the country.

During the most intense hour of rainfall on Wednesday,... more than 70 millimeters fell

in the capital city and the surrounding Gyeonggi-do Province.

The flooding caused by the heavy rainfall damaged homes, stores and streets.

According to the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters,.. over 14-hundred

homes and stores were flooded in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do Province,... while over 140 flood

victims had to stay overnight at community centers.

The rain also flooded streets,... washing away vehicles.

A dozen flights were also cancelled on Wednesday.

Authorities blocked major expressways and issued landslide warnings in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do

and Gangwon-do provinces.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety has warned regional authorities to stay alert

Trump promised to end Korean War to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un: Vox - Duration: 2:37.

Let's start with the shaky state of Pyongyang-Washington ties.

Could there be another reason behind the current stalemate in negotiations between the United

States and North Korea?

While many are pointing an accusing finger at Pyongyang for dragging its feet on denuclearization,...

a U.S. media outlet reports that President Trump may have made Kim Jong-un a big promise

of his own during the Singapore summit,... one he has yet to keep.

Lee Ji-won has more.

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly promised North Korean leader Kim Jong-un that he would

end the Korean War during their historic summit in Singapore back in June.

U.S. media outlet Vox, citing multiple sources familiar with the negotiations, reported Wednesday

that President Trump told Kim that he would sign a declaration to end the war soon after

their summit.

But since then, the U.S. has been repeatedly urging North Korea to take more concrete actions

for its denuclearization, more specifically, handing over 60 to 70 percent of its nuclear

warheads within six to eight months.

Vox says this is likely what brought about the deadlock and the increasingly hostile

response from the North.

One of the sources told Vox that President Trump having promised a peace declaration

but then making it conditional would seem as though Washington is reneging on its commitments

and it makes sense why the North Koreans are angry.

While the White House declined to comment, State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert

said she's not familiar with that being part of the overall agreement, but once again reiterated

the U.S. believes denuclearization has to take place before anything else.

Despite the skepticism and doubt, likely aggravated by President Trump's cancellation of his Secretary

of State's visit to Pyongyang,... the president once again reiterated that he's on good terms

with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Speaking at the White House on Wednesday, President Trump said the U.S. is doing very

well with North Korea.

But he pointed to China as one of the reasons for the current stalemate with the North.

"China is the route to North Korea.

Ninety three percent of the products and various things that go into North Korea, go through

China.

And I think that China makes it much more difficult in terms of our relationship with

North Korea."

President Trump praised Chinese President Xi Jinping and China in general, but said

that, with the U.S. losing hundreds of billions of dollars a year to China, he had to straighten

out their lob-sided trade relationship.
