Korea's study of natural substances expands across various fields - Duration: 1:50.
By combining techniques like big data... with genome analysis... and even robotics, Korean
scientists are learning more local plants and other living things.
They're finding ways that substances in these life forms can be used to make all kinds of
things... from medicine to makeup.
Park Se-young has this report.
Some 17-hundred specimens of plants and other organisms native to Korea can be found here.
When a new species is found, it's analyzed and its data is recorded.
The technology for analyzing natural substances has become more precise.
A robotic arm detects the functional component of a substance and quickly verifies its effects
on cells.
"There have been recent advances in analysis techniques and in genome and big data technology.
Such equipment and technology can help us study natural substances more easily."
Natural substances, which are relatively safer than artificial chemicals, are used to develop
high-value goods like medicines and cosmetics.
As well as discovering useful substances, researchers also analyze the combination of
ingredients and get ideas for drug development.
The Korean government will support joint research projects by companies and research institutes
so that the discovery of promising substances can lead to the development of useful products.
"Not only is the market promising, the domestic demand for eco-friendly products is on the
rise.
So we are exploring various options like new systems and funding."
The improving relationship between the two Koreas is likely to have a positive effect
on natural substance research as the sector has been selected as the Number one field
for collaborative research.

VIETNAM 🇻🇳 Things to do in Cat Ba Island: National Park & Cannon Fort - Duration: 9:00.
We arrived at Cat Ba Island and enjoyed some nice sunny day and island vibes.
One of the many boat tours in Ha Long Bay and Lan Ha Bay took us among floating fishing villages and rocks.
We stopped for a while to do some kayaking and spotted some monkeys.
Later, in Monkey Island we saw even more monkeys and spectacular views.
So what's the plan today ?
Today we are going to National Park.
Cat Ba National Park. We have to ride a motorbike.
Rent a motorbike.
On the next day we rented a motorbike and headed to explore the island.
Our main goal was the Cat Ba National Park, which doesn't attract many people
because most visitors focus on the Ha Long Bay boat tours.
But before that, we stopped at the Hospital Cave.
During the Vietnam War, Cat Ba Island was used as a kind of safe haven for the North Vietnamese army.
Due to the heavy American bombing, a secret bomb proof hospital
and safe house for the Viet Cong leaders was built inside a cave.
The Hang Quan or better known as the Hospital cave was built between 1963 and 1965.
And it was abandoned after 1975.
But now it is a popular tourist attraction on the island.
We also visited another cave near there. The Trung Trang Grotto.
We enjoyed that more than the Hospital Cave. The cave is home to some different species of bats.
It was a long cave with a nice combination of wide and narrow areas.
And you know what? There was no entrance fee.
After that cave, I was a bit sick of traveling with Hyekyong and
I decided to leave her behind and continue the trip by myself.
But he regretted very soon and came back for me.
We continued our way to the Cat Ba National Park
which is a World Heritage Site designated as a biosphere reserve.
The park is home to 32 types of mammal,
including most of the world's 65 remaining golden-headed langur, the world's most endangered primate.
There are some good hiking trails, including a hard-core 18km route up to a mountain summit.
We just did a basic trail to a nice viewpoint to appreciate the immensity of the park.
The road is not that good…
We explored a bit more the island and chilled after a nice dinner.
The next day we still had some time before leaving the island. So we went to check the Cannon Fort.
It was built in 1942 by the French and later it was reused by
the Vietnamese against the French Colonists and the Americans.
Now it still has some relics, well-preserved gun emplacements, and even underground tunnels.
There is even a cafe with amazing views over the island from its terrace.
We just chilled and tried to soak up everything we could for our next journey.

Hi everyone. This is Kennedy, welcome back. 8 hours of working is the
average amount of time that most of people in this world is dealing with.
Let me tell you this, 8 hours of working it's just for people who work, be alive
and die. If you wanna have more money than you are currently making, you
gotta work more than 8 hours. You gotta work 9 hours, 10 hours. I don't
know how many hours you work but I'm sure if you want to have more money in
life you gotta work more than just 8 hours. If you have a lot of free time
beside of working and the amount of time that you gotta spend with your family, you
have to spend, you need to spend with your family, yourself and whoever that
you need to spend time with, find another job to work and make more money. If you
have time for playing games, if you have time for watching funny videos on
YouTube, if you have time for watching movies that you don't need in your life,
if you have time for hanging out people that you don't need in your life, find
something else and work and make more money. That's how it is. If you want to
have more money in life. You gotta be willing to work more hours than the
others. But that's not enough. It's not something that I really want to focus in
this video. If you want to have something in life which is way bigger than making
more money than being rich. You gotta forget about work and don't even care
about how many hours you gotta spend for that stuff. I don't know what are you
pursuing but if you want that level of being successful. You gotta understand
what I'm trying to say in this video. You gotta have something in life that you
need to focus on. Something gives you the excitement, the motivation that keeps you
doing that stuff unstoppable. Let me give you
an example to make it clear. Let say you're walking from point A to point B.
That means point B is your motivation, is your goal is your target and whenever
you stop in the middle of the road, point B is something that pulls you back on
track. I can't tell you what point B in your life is. I can't tell you how you can
get it. You gotta find your own way. What I'm trying to do in this video is just
giving you the idea about how important it is. You're gotta find out the
destination that you are chasing, otherwise you're gonna be lost in the
middle of nowhere, you don't know where you're gonna go, you don't know what you
have to do. Let's talk about myself. How many hours I work for a day? I don't
actually know. At the time I know about work ethic, at the time I know about the
hustle, I haven't had any day that I work less than 12 hours. As I said at the
beginning of the video, it's not even work for me either. I enjoy what I'm doing.
It's just something fun. I enjoy the process.
I enjoy the progression. I enjoy everything that I'm doing, parkour,
building the obstacles, creating the program, working with people, conversations
talking, making videos l, editing videos, everything that I do. I just enjoy them
so much that I don't feel like there's pressure in work that I'm working on.
I don't know if you ever have heard about the rule of 10,000 hours of
working. 10,000 hour rule says that if you spend 10,000 hours for something in
life, you're gonna be successful in that stuff. Let's do some calculation. If you
spend an hour a day for the whole year you will have 365 hours per year and
then for 2 years you have about 700 hours and then for 1000 hours you need about
3 years almost 3 years, so in order to have 10,000 hours of working
you gotta spend at least 30 years. If you spend 2 hours a day you might reach
10,000 hours in 15 years, and if I'm not wrong, if you spend about 3 hours a day
you're gonna reach the goal 10,000 hours in about 10 years. How someone can do
something in 10 years, every single day, with 3 hours per day how someone can
work that hard to be a professional in something. It's all about the goal, the
target, the destination, the motivation that keeps them working hard. If you
don't have the goal, if you don't have the target, if you don't have something
that motivate you, again you're gonna be lost in somewhere. You live the life of
the others, you live the life of the others and then you think
that's your. But it's not your. You are being lost. With all of the things being
said in this video, I hope you understand the importance of having a goal, having a
target, a destination in your life and also the willingness of working hard
unstoppable. Because when you have two of these things: working hard and the
destination, the goal, the work is not work anymore... And you don't need to even care
about how many hours you work for a day. I'll see you in next video... Peace..

S. Korea's FM says ASEAN states positive about Seoul's policies - Duration: 0:54.
South Korea's foreign minister Kang Kyung-wha held a press briefing Sunday morning in Singapore
about the results of this year's ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting.
Minister Kang said there were three main takeaways from this year's meetings -- the ASEAN states'
support for the Moon administration's New Southern Policy, her encounter with North
Korean foreign minister Ri Yong-ho and the participating nations' support for change
on the Korean Peninsula.
She said, with the recent developments in Pyongyang's denuclearization, the overall
atmosphere of the meetings was very positive and supportive of the Moon administration's
efforts.
She did not elaborate on what she discussed with the North's foreign minister Friday night
when he rejected South Korea's request for bilateral talks.
But in that brief encounter at a gala dinner, she said the two did have sincere discussions
about complete denuclearization... and about the progress so far with Washington.

North Korea still pursuing nuclear, missile programs: UN report - Duration: 0:48.
A confidential United Nations report reportedly says that North Korea has not stopped its
nuclear and missile programs and that it's working around international sanctions.
According to Reuters, the report claims that North Korea has continued to develop its nuclear
and missile programs this year by massively increasing illicit ship-to-ship transfers
of coal and petroleum.
It also says Pyongyang is cooperating militarily with Syria, as well as trying to sell small
arms and light weapons to Yemen and Libya.
The document claimed that North Korea's recent activities have made financial sanctions ineffective.
The report was submitted on Friday by a UN panel of experts who hand over their findings
on North Korea every six months to the Security Council's North Korea sanctions committee.
