Till we break, break, break

We're saving it up till we break

I wanna taste it

I don't wanna waste it

Do it everyday

We're on another wave, let's misbehave

Nothing but time to kill

Designer thrills

Smoking Hills

Till we break, break, break

We're saving it up till we break, break, break

Till we break, break, break

We're saving it up till we break

I wanna taste it

I don't wanna waste it

We're not going home keep the flow till we die

Colours explode when I open my eyes

Like cellophane, got me in a daze

See through the palm tree haze

Moving as we drive

Lazy tides, feed easy highs

Maxis Monthly Next Week, HUGE Console Update Out Now! | The Sims Info/Thoughts - Duration: 4:46.

Hey folks! How's it going? This is Iron Seagull here, back with another Sims Info

/Thoughts video! So we got some more talk about console because the new

update just came out, and also a little bit about Maxis Monthly. So to start off

with consoles, The Sims tweeted this out Sul Sul simmers playing on console! Your

game now includes: Terrain tools, first person camera, Baby Ariel CAS

items, holiday items, and more! And there definitely is MORE. I'll leave a link to

the patch notes in the video description below. There's quite a lot of stuff to go

through, so I'm not actually going to read every single thing, but one

thing that I think is worth pointing out is that there are more community created

creations that are added through the My Library since consoles still don't have

the Gallery feature yet. And if you're playing on PlayStation 4 there was an

issue with the bloom effects not working as intended, but they are fixed now and

hopefully you have half-decent internet, because the updates on both Xbox One and

PS4 clocks in at just under three gigabytes. Wow, that is a lot to take in

at once that's for sure. And now moving on to Maxis Monthly, SimGuruKate tweeted

this the other day, saying so as you may know, we have a special 19th anniversary

edition of Maxis Monthly on Monday, February 4th. We will be joined by a few

Gurus including SimGuruLindsay, SimGuruNinja (not sand Greninja LOL), and SimGuruMorgan for a Q&A

and walk down memory lane. What are some questions you have for them?! Reply to

this thread, and I'll choose some to ask on the stream. Remember that we can't

answer any questions about future content. For context, Lindsay and Ninja

have been here forever 10+ years for both, and Morgan is newer to the team but

a longtime fan/player. So while I am glad that they are including a Q&A

session in the next Maxis Monthly - this is something that I really wanted to see,

just more interaction with the viewers... I think this also drastically lowers the

chances of there being new content for the game itself being revealed on that

livestream. So yeah it's a bit of a mixed bag there. I really hope that

February isn't completely empty in terms of new content, although I am actually

going to be away for most of February because I'll be away from I believe the

9th until March 2nd though I am still hoping that I can still do videos

because I'm going to be going to Sri Lanka much like I did last year, except

that's going to be for a big family reunion but I'm still gonna have a bit

of downtime so if there's any really big news I'll try to do some videos still.

But if they do end up releasing a stuff pack or a game pack...and considering my

luck, they'll probably release both within the same month, then I won't be

able to actually get gameplay footage of that until I'm back home. But still I

hope it won't be too much longer until Maxis fully comes out of "holiday mode"

and starts releasing new content for the game. Even though I am still fairly

occupied with the stuff that we got towards the very end of last year it'd

still be nice to know what's coming in the near future. And that wraps up

another Sims Info/Thoughts video! So feel free to let me know your thoughts

in the comments section below on any predictions you might have for Maxis

Monthly or if you're just going to tune into that livestream, and how excited you

are if you're playing on console with this massive new update that's just come

out. So feel free to leave a like or a comment, or even subscribe! Because it

really lets me know that you like my content, and it helps you keep up to date

with my latest stuff from The Sims, Sonic The Hedgehog, and more! So I will

talk to you all later, and have a great day! Thanks for watching.

Land Management For Quail Hunting - With Dan Hinkle in South Texas - Duration: 17:11.

Hello Internet today we have Dan Hinkle with us and we're going to talk a little bit about

quail habitat.

He's been on this lease here in kind of the edge of south Texas for just going on 16 years

and we want to see, you know, kind of what you have done on this property to help build

quail habitat and how that is going to help everything else.

And, and I would encourage you to manage your place for quail.

I'm a big believer that if you've got good quail habitat, you're going to have good deer,

Turkey, dove, whatever you want to try to have on your place.

Um, let me just kind of give you a background in regards to what happened umm, and that

is historically we had, had a pretty fair quail population on the ranch and clearly

went into decline.

Um, and I got extremely interested in what do you have to do to bring back quail?

Yeah.

Um, and I'm not a big fan of using pin raised quail and I wanted wild quail because there

are wild birds and you get much more action, uh, both from a hunting standpoint.

And from a dog standpoint, so number one is I would encourage somebody to that's interested

in building their quail habitat to visit with the state conservation agent biologist and

literally have them come out and do an assessment of their property.

We had that done here.

Uh, in fact we brought out a couple of, uh, of the state biologist, one for the local

area.

Then one that was really focused on nothing but quail.

Absolutely.

Umm the other thing that we would do is we'd recommend that, believe it or not, there are

a lot of people who develop uhh this kind of food plot and that kind of food plot, that

really know a lot about quail.

And we brought out some of their biologists and some of their habitat folks.

And from there we developed a whole plan.

Umm, one of the other things that you will hear about when it comes to quail habitat

is that you have to do burns.

And I'm the first to admit that if you can do burns and rotate those burns on your property,

God bless you.

And that's the best thing to do.

But there are very few of us to have the intestinal fortitude and the insurance requirements and

those kinds of things, absolutely, to strike that match.

Now from Kansas, right.

Burns is a huge thing.

You know, we burn grass.

I mean, ummm I think it's in a five year on most CRP, every five years, stuff's got to

be burned.

But that, uh, that involves an entire team.

They've got three or four fire trucks.

It's all volunteered team, but three, four fire trucks and a four wheeler guys with drip

tubes.

They're, they're starting to fire and everybody's coming out and putting out, putting out behind

them.

Everything had gone the wrong way and they're watching it burn out.

So you've got to pick that day that day.

Exactly.

Know when you got to be ready for,

for that day and you're looking at the weather forecast, 10 to 14 days out in everyday you

wake up praying that it works.

But

looking out here, I mean, if something got caught into that, there would be no way to

get around it.

No way to.

We've lost tens of thousands of acres in Texas because of wildfires.

Absolutely.

So the liability issue, the management issue, those kinds of things, working with the rancher,

uh, we just consciously made a decision that we can't burn.

So what we did is we came in and developed a plan to come as close to recreating a burn

as we possibly can and we look at our fields, pastures, whatever you want to call those

things.

Uh, where, we've got, we don't have cattle, there are, we do have cattle there.

Looking at each one of them differently, those kinds of things.

But essentially we want to take our habitat and divided it into thirds.

One third will, and I'll get back to this, one third is going to be actively worked this

year.

The next third is what we worked last year.

And the final third is really a mature growth that you've seen.

Uh, you do not.

Let me, let me also say that on a, on a habitat that we worked on actively that year, what

we've come up with is a tractor with a disc, with a harrow.

Okay?

And on that one third, we take it down to the ground.

Um, now if we see that the grass is getting too thick on that final third that has matured,

we will probably run a harrow through that, uh, not a disk just to pull and open up the

grasses.

But let me tell you what we're trying to recreate.

Ok.

Let's just assume for the sake of discussion for this discussion, a hatch is eight chicks.

Okay?

If I do nothing, just as a general rule, I'm going to lose four of those chicks, 50 percent,

50 percent and we all know that quail are a bird is a bird born to die, you know, and

we're trying to avoid that so that we can hunt them.

Absolutely.

Any way, uh, and thinking in these terms that if I can create a situation where I only lose

two chicks rather than four, I've got a 50 percent increase in regards to total, total

number of quail.

And that would make a big difference in a short amount of time.

It's huge, you know, and then you just go through the geometric numbers of looking what

that does to an overall place.

For sure.

It makes a huge difference.

But let me talk about that third that we're actively working and you need to figure out

and talk with your biologists.

When are most of the chicks born?

For us, it's, it's mid May to the last week of May.

So I need to be absolute latest in regards to working that piece of ground six weeks

out.

Eight weeks would probably be better because what I want to have as a habitat on that one

third are the weeds, grasses, whatever, in the three to five inch range so that, you

know, I come in, I take it down to the ground, it starts coming back with the growth, uh,

gets the three to five inches the baby chicks come.

And when I'm trying to do with that is one, they're able to walk through it, yeah for

sure/ so they can get to it and they can escape from predators and don't get stuck in heavy

matted grass.

Um, the other one is, is that they need bugs.

Now if all my grass where all the bugs are, is two feet high, that doesn't help that chick

that's maybe an inch and a half to two inch high, but if it's three to six inches, he's

got a chance to get that bug.

I think that, uh, you know, maybe a lot of people don't know this, but that's the number

one source of moisture, right water.

For those young, those young birds, they not, not only are they getting them for sustenance

and proteins and everything else, but um, people talk about, oh, they've got water or

the dew, but a majority of the moisture that the birds are getting, their hydration comes

from the insects.

Exactly.

Exactly.

And you mentioned the other part, the other reason why I wanted in that three to six inch

range.

We just wanted to pause the video quickly to say thank you for watching.

We appreciate your support and your views.

Thanks again for watching and we look forward to you joining our Dog Training Community

on Patreon soon.

And you mentioned the other part, the other reason why I wanted in that three to six inch

range.

Dew.

You know, I want them to be able to get little droplets of water.

They don't, they need water, but they don't need a gallon of water.

So not very big.

They're not very big birds.

But if they've got that habitat where they can move, protect themselves, mom can move

them, protect them.

They're getting their, their bugs, protein slash water or they're picking up dew, then

I've got a higher probability of saving those two extra chicks that I want to have.

Absolutely.

So that's the number one thing that we do here and have done.

Um, now people need to understand that you've got to.

Well let me back up and say the only thing I can't do with a disc and a harrow that a

fire can do is I can't take out all of the woody a trees and you know, whatever.

So I've got to work those two.

And let me tell you what we do in that regard is we do what we call half cuts.

So for instance, you've got a tree a, whether it's a mesquite tree for us or whatever, um,

and it's an inch to three inches or whatever, you know, size.

What we want to do is come up about six feet, five to six feet high.

We will go all the way around.

That tree will start on the top side and we will cut those limbs so that they fall over.

We want it only halfway so that they stay alive.

And they'll have leaves on those kinds of things, but imagine in your mind, uh, you've

got a three inch tree and now when you look at that tree, you've literally created an

umbrella around the base of it and what I've done by doing that and what you will do by

doing that is create habitat for them to nest, avoid predators, uh, all those things while

they're out there, um, and protect them against rain, uh, which is absolutely critical, especially

for the chicks and stuff.

So do the, do the disk, do the harrrow, keep it on a one third rotation, do the half cuts

and not once have I mentioned food plots.

Absolutely.

You know, because I think that's what most people go to to begin with.

Let's add some grain to the ground or something like that that this year you will see us move

to for the first time ever in nine years to actually looking at planting anything.

Um, and I would encourage people to Google, quail and ragweed.

Yeah.

And you will be amazed if you're allergic to ragweed.

Find somebody else to work with it.

But in don't get the giant size, um, but it is tremendous.

It's tremendous for the quail, but it's also tremendous for the other animals on your,

your land that you want to raise and, and create good habitat for them.

Obviously people can do the Milo, um, those kinds of things.

Um, for us it's a little bit hard on the Milo because of such a hog population that we have.

And, and if you don't protect it, um, you know, the deer will, will get it pretty quick

too.

Uh, so having read most of the reports, looked at most of the things uhh ragweed is, is something

that we're looking at and we're looking at it in strips of 50 foot wide, 100 foot long,

um, you know, but whatever you put in, if it's just 50 by 50, you know, that kind of

thing.

And here's the last thing that I would strongly encourage people to do.

Okay.

Um, and if you don't have a tractor and you know, desk and you don't want to do this,

do this one thing, and that is create dusting areas.

And a dusting area can be as small as 25 feet by 25 feet.

You ought to have it about every 25 to 40 acres.

Um, we do.

We try to run it about every 40 to 60 acres and ours are about 100 feet by 100 feet.

When I say dusting area, you need to come in and take it completely down to the ground

and is nothing on top but fine dirt.

And here's the reason why you want that.

These birds, if they are allowed to dust and maintain their oils for their feathers, they're

going to have a healthier life.

And the same is true for the chicks.

Yeah.

So you want to maintain their health as much as you possibly can.

And the oils in turn give them protection when it does rain.

You know, the irony on quail is everybody says, I don't have quail because I didn't

get rain.

And then they say, I don't have quail because I got too much.

Too much rain.

But you've got to be able to maintain their oils and let them protect themselves and build

a strong breed of bird on your land.

And those dusting areas, we'll do it.

A lot of people don't think about that.

Uh, but like I said, if there's just one thing that you can do to help your overall quail

population, that's it.

So we've got a few things to think about here.

One is disking and harrowing.

Umm, bringing everything down to the dirt and rotating your fields in three sections.

So you have bare dirt to, medium growth to then, or workable growth to then mature growth.

Right?

Um, you also mentioned the half cuts, half cuts, awesome.

And then food plots as a third type of thing, right?

Um, and food plots being something as simple as ragweed as opposed to milo or corn or anything

else right away or some kind of the commercial product.

And then last but not least, dusting areas.

Probably one of the things that most of us don't even think about, you know, we think

of what I need, food and water, but like you're talking about an overall health of the bird

dusting is a requirement.

Yeah.

And it makes all the difference in the world.

That's awesome.

I mean, it really makes all the difference in the world.

Again, if you want good habitat for your deer, your Turkey, your doves, whatever, maintain

good habitat for quail.

And the last thing I will tell you is be patient.

Just because you started this rotation plan, you've worked it, you've done it this year.

That doesn't mean that you know, you're going to find a covey of quail every 15 minutes

in the fall, the next fall, but what you will see is they start to come back and they will

continue to come back as long as you continue to work that habitat

And there are fairly large brooded and animal so they can make a rebound pretty quick.

Yes, they can.

Um, and it's always funny when you see them have a second hatch.

Yeah.

You know, which is a very good example of what you're talking about.

Uh, we affectionately refer to them as fuzzballs in September, yep yep.

this ping pong size.

Yes, exactly, exactly.

Awesome.

Well, thank you very much for your time.

You Bet.

My pleasure.

And for all of you folks that are watching, we try and cover everything.

Not only dog training, we're trying to branch out a little bit just to talk about conservation,

bird hunting, all the things that we love.

Are You Serious? The Apology Note and 14 Years Ago. - Duration: 6:59.

(funk music)

Morning sir.

Good morning, sir.

Okay, you have two overnight parking tickets.

Yes sir. These are outside

your residence. Yeah.

Is there anything you want to tell me about these.

Ah well, I've been parking there for four months already.

Four to three months

and I haven't got no parking tickets.

Parked in the same spot right in front of my house.

So you're coming here today to tell me

that you had been parked there for 60 days

and you only got two parking tickets

so you owe the court for 58 other days

that the police didn't (laughing)

put the ticket on the car.

So instead of two parking tickets

you've got 60 parking tickets.

No but, I don't think it's a

it's a no park zone in that area

because there's other cars parked

on the same side of the road.

All right, listen to me. Yeah.

Listen to me, there's a city ordinance

that says you can't park overnight in Providence.

They don't put up signs.

However, if you don't have a parking space

you can buy a parking pass for $100

which will allow you to park on the street for one year.

Are you serious?

Am I serious?

No, I came here today to tell jokes.

(laughing)

I'm not serious, in other words

that's my job Nah, I just

never heard of that

I come here today and I'm not serious

I just make things up and

whatever comes into my mind I say,

so. Yup.

So that especially when I--

Put the shoe on the other foot.

Tell 'em, honest to God

I'm telling the truth.

No, I'm not taking an oath. (laughing)

I'm not taking an oath.

I'll take his word for it.

But this is not a serious job.

This job is just, I come in

and whatever I feel like saying I say.

So I just made that up.

All right so,

instead of me making that up

you gotta pay for 60 tickets, how's that?

All right, here's what we're gonna do.

Jose, you can't buy the parking pass

unless you pay for these tickets first.

So, here's my deal.

You have two overnight parking tickets.

I understand that when you first moved there,

you didn't know that you couldn't park overnight.

So I'm going to forgive the first one.

But you're gonna pay the second one.

All right. It's only $20.

I'm gonna waive the penalties. No problem.

I'm serious about all this, see.

Cus I know you wanna know if I'm serious.

(laughing)

This is a serious business.

All right, now after you pay that ticket

then you qualify to buy a parking pass.

How's that sound, like a good deal?

Yeah, it sounds good to me.

It's only good if I'm serious.

(laughing)

You better make up your mind whether I'm serious or not.

All right sir, it's $20.

Buy the parking pass.

(laughing) Thank you.

Don't give Inspector Quinn the cash.

Yeah gimme $200 and I'll come back with that $100 pass.

(laughing)

See the clerk, don't see Inspector Quinn.

(laughing) All right, thank you.

All right, good luck.

Jose wants to know if the judge is serious.

Of course the judge is serious.

Even though the judge likes to have fun in court

that does not mean he does not take his judicial

responsibilities lightly.

In fact, he takes them very seriously.

But he also wants people to leave our court

believing that they have been heard,

that they have been treated fairly

and at least here in the city of Providence

the systems of government really are

of the people, for the people, and by the people.

Is he serious?

You better believe he is

and so am I.

And gone, and you are charged with parking

in a prohibited area on North Main Street.

On July 31st, I took my kids to RISD Museum.

I'm a new driver and I saw the little white lines

and I even sent an apology note with my ticket,

with my ticket with my payment.

I put the payment in the mail the next day.

I got this today in the mail and I called

and they said I had to come today.

I do everything right when I get the stuff

whenever I get a bill

and I, they said that the ticket was $90

and I got scared cus the original ticket was $30

and they told me it was a late fee

but I did put the thing right in the mail

and you could even see my checkbook

that I never like lied or anything like that

I didn't go back and change the date or anything.

I put it the next day in the mail.

Immediately upon you discovering that you had a ticket,

you put $30 in the mail?

Yes.

And then you received a notice

saying that you owe us another $60.

Yes.

So I have to make a decision

whether or not I assess the penalty--

And it's my first parking ticket

and I was even was like really sorry

for doing that cus I didn't see the sign fully.

I even wrote an apology note. Do me a favor,

Anne, do me a favor.

Take a deep breath, seriously.

Take a deep breath.

This is a parking ticket.

I know.

You're all nerved up.

(laughing)

But I'm going through a lot, so.

All right, I'm gonna make you feel better, okay.

I understand everything you're telling me.

I'm impressed with the fact that you paid the ticket.

I'm impressed that you came here tonight

and you're not making up this big long excuse.

All right, so I'm gonna dismiss it

Thank you.

I'm gonna dismiss it

because it's the right thing to do, okay.

And

are those tears of happiness I hope?

Yes.

They are. They are.

(laughing) I was scared at first

but yes, now they are.

All right, I know you come to court,

you're apprehensive,

courts are very intimidating experience.

It's not me, it's Inspector Quinn.

He's the intimidating person.

Thank you.

All right, and the matter is dismissed good luck to you.

Okay, do I have to go somewhere and sign?

No, you could just go home and enjoy yourself.

Thank you so much.

You did everything right.

Thank you.

(funk music)

Paul Gonzalez.

I'm here to represent my wife Cynthia Mitchell.

Cynthia.

Oh yes, right here.

Yeah, I'm here to represent my wife.

She said you're a wonderful guy.

We do watch your shows all the time.

You're really buttering me up a lot now.

(laughing)

He's trying to get off to a good start Inspector Quinn.

Inspector Quinn, She's only--

this is June 22nd.

School wasn't even in session,

Okay.

So I'm gonna dismiss it.

Okay, thank you your honor.

But you can't leave yet.

Okay. (laughing)

Because you have a parking ticket

that goes back 14 years ago. Yeah.

Your wife, I'm gonna tell you

where your wife was 14 years ago.

Okay.

At 5 o'clock in the morning, 14 years ago

she was on Mayette Ave.

Okay. I don't know

if he wanted to hear that Judge.

Oh, I don't know.

Judge I don't know if he wanted to hear that.

That's where she was at 5 o'clock in the morning.

Oh wow.

You better check the calendar.

Yeah, I gotta check about that one.

I'm gonna ask her about that one.

Better ask her, tell her she owes you $15.

Okay.

She was at Dunkin' Donuts picking up breakfast

and coffee for her loving man.

(laughing)

She might have been.

Thank you your honor.

All right, good luck.

Top 5 Scary Fairy Tale Dark Origins - Duration: 7:51.

We are all too familiar with the whimsical fairy tales brought to us by beloved books

and even the likes of Disney -- we know that Cinderella found her true love thanks to a

fairy god mother and magical slipper.

The Little Mermaid gave up her tail to walk amongst humans -- arm in arm with the man

she loves -- and Peter Pan -- well he never grew up.

But, what the fairy tales didn't tell us was of there VERY dark and depressing origins.

And what really happened to the characters we know and love.

Before we begin -- be sure to stick around until the end of the video where I'll be

responding to a few of your comments -- Ok, let's jump into our list of the Top 5 Scary

Fairy Tale Dark Origins.

5 Snow White In 1937 disney released the magical tale of

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

As we know -- it followed a lonely princess living with her evil stepmother who becomes

jealous of Snow White's beauty.

She orders a huntsman to track her down and murder her -- but fails to do so.

Snow hides out in the forest with seven friendly dwarfs before the Queen finds Snow herself

-- disguising herself as a hag.

She gives her a poisonous apple and Snow falls into a death-like sleep until her Princess

charming wakes her with a kiss.

Now -- the original tale is far more sinister than the Disney version most of us grew up

on.

In early versions of the tale the Queen is instead Snow's biological mother -- which

makes the story far more sinister.

Although the attempted to murder is still included -- the lengths in which the stepmother

had wish to go were not -- thankfully -- A quote from the Brothers Grimm story goes as

follows -- "Take Snow White out into the woods to a remote spot, and stab her to death.

As proof that she is dead bring her lungs and her liver back to me.

I shall cook them with salt and eat them."

-- Gross -- No thank you Queenie.

Worse yet -- at the end of the story -- yes -- Snow gets her happy end -- however, when

the Queen attends her wedding, Snow White tortures her to death by putting iron shoes

into a fire before forcing the Queen to wear them and then dance until she dies.

Yikes!

4 Rapunzel As younger viewers will know -- Rapunzel was

the main character in the 2010 film and Disney's 50th animated film -- Tangled.

Rapunzel had been locked away in a tower since a baby by an old evil hag.

Her magical long hair providing the young girl with eternal youth, as the evil Gothel

uses it to keep herself young.

It's a sad story regardless -- but the original fairy tale is far more sinister still.

It draws upons and early Christian story -- set in the third century AD in Asia.

A father adored his daughters beauty her forbid her from having an suitors -- thus locking

her away in a tower.

During which time she converted to christianity -- praying so loudly her tower reverberated

through the town.

Her father was informed of his daughters actions -- dragging her before the Roman consul -- who

ordered the father to behead her or forfeit his fortune.

So -- the father beheaded her -- preferring money over family and love.

However -- shortly after the father is killed by a lightning strike -- and his daughter

became Sint Barbara, revered by the Eastern Orthodox Church.

3 Sleeping Beauty Released by Disney in 1959 -- Sleeping Beauty

follows Princess Aurora who becomes cursed by a jealous evil witch, Maleficent -- cursing

her to die on her 16th birthday.

However -- thanks to her guardian fairies -- Aurora falls into a deep sleep that can

only be ended by true love's kiss -- classic.

Now in the tale -- Sun, Moon, Talia-- the story is far darker for our dear princess.

Upon birth, Princess Talia is cursed with the threat of a splinter -- and once grown

-- pricks her fingers and falls into an eternal slumber.

During this time a King happens upons the Princesses castle and Talia's lifeless body.

The King rapes her -- impregnating her.

While she sleeps -- Talia gives birth to twins -- Sun and Moon -- and while searching for

milk one of the babies sucks out the splinter from Talia's finger -- thus waking her up.

Now -- the King returns -- which brings about an entirely new beast -- his wife.

One she learns of her husband's infidelities -- she orders for the twins to be cooked and

fed to him.

In the midst of all the chaos -- a cook hides the twins -- so the Queen instead attempts

throw Talia into the fire -- but the King intercepts her -- burning his wife alive instead.

Talia and her rapist then marry -- living happily ever after.

Well -- you can see why Disney what leave that little detail out of their animated children's

film.

2 The Little Mermaid My favourite Disney film -- The Little Mermaid,

released in 1989, follow 16 year old Ariel, a mermaid fascinated with life on land.

On one visit to the surface she encounters Eric -- whom she falls madly in love with.

So, she make a deal with a sea witch, Ursula, in order to become human for three days.

But things quickly go awry.

I mean, they always do.

Now -- the original tale was created by writer Hans Christian Andersen in 1837 -- and it

endured a far grislier journey.

In Hans's story -- Mermaids were soulless creatures -- destined to become seafoam when

they died.

Whereas humans would embark on a glorious afterlife.

The Little Mermaid didn't want to meet a grisly end -- instead wanting a human soul.

Her Grandmother told her that in order to grow a soul a mermaid must wed a man who loves

her more than anything in the world -- and if that man should not want to marry her -- she

would die.

Just as the film goes -- the little mermaid sees a handsome young man on the shore and

visits a Sea Witch to strike a deal -- she will give her legs -- but at a cost.

I quote "you must swim to land tomorrow before sunrise, and sit down on the shore

and drink it.

Your tail will then disappear, and shrink up into what mankind calls legsn, and you

will feel great pain, as if a sword were passing through you...at every step you take it will

feel as if you were treading upon sharp knives, and that the blood must flow."

-- Now -- if this torture wasn't bad enough for the mermaid -- the witch cuts off her

tongue as payment.

Now -- the prince does fall in love with the mermaid -- but sadly he loves another more.

The only way to save herself is to stab the prince to death -- but she refuses -- ending

her life.

1 Peter Pan We all know the tale of Peter Pan -- a little

boy in Neverland who just refuses to grow up.

He embarks on wonderful adventures with his lost boys -- battling his foe James Hook -- and

flying amongst the clouds and down to the oceans with the mermaids.

It's a magical story that we can all relate to -- however -- as you can expect from this

list -- the original tale is just plain fucked up.

Peter Pan was written by J.M. Barrie in 1904 -- originally as aplay -- before being adapted

into a book.

As we know -- Peter doesn't want to grow up -- but the lengths in which he'll go

to to avoid that is just alarming.

I quote, "The boys on the island vary, of course, in numbers, according as they get

killed and son on; and when they seem to be growing up, which is against the rules, Peter

thins them out; but as this time there were six of them, counting the twins as two"

Yep -- you heard it right -- as the Lost Boys age he kills them off -- because god forbid

anyone grows up in Neverland.

Well -- there we have it!

What did you guys think!

What fairy tale origin scared you the most?

Leave us all your thoughts and feelings in the comments down below -- but before I go

I just want to respond to a few comments from one of our last videos -- Top 5 Scary and

Haunted Museums You Need To Pray Before Entering.

ZenGaijin said "Soooo, nobody gonna talk about her Velma sweater?"

-- well apparently you all did -- considering this got 14 likes.

Yup -- I didn't realize this made me look like Velma from Scooby Doo -- but I'm definitely

embracing the comparison.

Jennifer K Luckett said "Lucy which one of these museums would you visit?

Myself I would visit Torquay museum, it seems like the most haunted."

-- I'd be right there with you Jennifer -- next time I'm home in Devon I'll definitely

be checking it out -- so keeps your eyes peeled for pics on my social media.

In response to my invitation to spend a day in my oversized hoodie -- The Real Thanos

said "Lucy McPhee choose me and you shall wield the power of my gauntlet" -- Done

and done.

Give me the power -- I would snap my fingers until there is nothing left but dust.

And on that note -- I think it's time we bring this list to a close.

What's so Wonderful About Wool? - Yarn University #2 - Duration: 3:05.

Wool is the hair of a sheep that is shorn and spun into yarn.

And you know what happens next!

But did you know that wool's been turned into garments as far back as 4000 BCE?

We're still knitting and crocheting with this incredible, iconic fiber today.

And while there are countless textiles on the market, there must be something special

about wool that's made it so popular for so long.

Here are a few benefits when it comes to working with wool.

(Pomp and Circumstance)(sheep maaah!)

Would you believe that wool is great for every season?

Wool is breathable which means that it can keep you warm without trapping moisture.

That means that garments made with thin wool yarns are even great to wear in the summer.

Because wool is moisture wicking, it doesn't trap sweat meaning it won't trap odors.

On top of that, the properties that keep this fiber dry also prevent bacterial and mold

growth.

So handmade seaters can go longer without a wash than other garments and, contrary to

what some might think, they won't get stinky!

Just like you grow hair, sheep grown fleece.

Average merino sheep produce around ten pounds of fleece each year and domesticated sheep

have been bred to grow their wooly coats non-stop.

That means that wool is a renewable resource as long as there are sheep and grass.

And it's biodegradable!

While you might not think about your favorite sweater and a pair of yoga pants in the same

way, wool has an elastic quality that's great for all kinds of garments.

So as long as you're washing them properly, handmade wool pieces can stretch without losing

their shape.

I'm sure you're number one priority isn't safety when you throw on a cute sweater, but

did you know that wool is naturally flame resistant?

In fact, it's one of the most flame resistant textile fibers.

Wool burns at a very high temperature meaning that it's difficult to ignite and requires

a lot of oxygen to become enflamed.

If it does catch fire, wool's self-extinguishing and doesn't melt or stick to your skin.

Wool needs more special care than synthetic fibers but it can be worth the fuss.

Wool is incredibly durable because of its structure.

Even more durable than natural fibers such as silk and cotton.

I mean, there is a reason it's been turned into garments for centuries.

With proper care, a handmade wool piece can last a lifetime.

While there are lots of different yarns out there, wool will always be a classic choice

for knitters and crocheters.

What do you like about wool?

Leave a comment and let us know!

Ultimate Fighting Goes to the Next Level - Key & Peele - Duration: 2:30.

Hey, as far as I'm concerned, this Saturday night

there's not even going to be a fight.

I'm going to mercy kill this old man.

Derek is very good person, but soon he will learn manners.

I will torture his body so that he so learns to be humble.

I'm going to dance around him

while he's trying to hit me with his cane.

Old man.

God chose me for this fight. God is the teacher.

Derek is the student, and I am God's instrument.

When I squeeze your lungs, Derek, and you beg me for life,

then your heart will open up to the Lord.

I'm going to knock him out round one, bitch.

Wait, what did he say again? He said God chose him.

That doesn't even make sense really.

When you eat through plastic tube,

when you are paralyzed from neck down,

then your family will gather around your hospital bed

to see the new Derek.

Okay, he know we just talking here, right?

I mean, we just getting people interested in the fight.

Because I'm sorry. Is this [bleep] crazy?

God's lessons are so beautiful.

God's lessons are beautiful. I'm sorry.

Who put this fight together? This is a ...

Well, if y'all got a actual crazy person for me to fight,

well, that's not fair to me or him.

[foreign language]

What you mean you can't find him?

Well, where is he? Yo, man, where my manager at?

Steve, how's that-

What If An Asteroid Hit Earth At The Speed Of Light? - Duration: 5:39.

Asteroids make us nervous, and for good reason.

Large rocks hitting the earth at great speeds can not only destroy large areas of land,

the impact can have knock on effects to our environment for very large periods of time.

The Asteroid that put an end to the dinosaur dynasty was travelling between 12-17 miles

a second.

Fast… but absolutely categorically and fundamentally nowhere close to the speed of light.

So…what would happen if something did hit us at light speed?

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, the channel that loves to muse

on many a wild query – from science to space, history and politics to pop culture.

I am your host Rebecca Felgate, join me as we ask the apocalyptic question – What if

an Asteroid Hit Earth at the Speed of Light?

I am neither an accredited scientist nor a physicist so my answer to this is going to

be more circumstantial than mathematical….

But an early spoiler….

It would be a total mess.

Before we get into this video, why don't you let me know what you think would happen

if an Asteroid hit the earth at light speed.

While you are down there please do leave a thumbs up on this video and share it with

a friend.

Also if you haven't yet subscribed to our channel then please do so now - stick around

to the end of the video when I will be reading out replies to some of your comments.

So what if an Asteroid hit earth at the speed of light?

Okay, let's get REAL for a second before we insight any panic… no particle with mass

can travel at the speed of light.

The speed of light is the fasted known movement and seems to be only be capable by photons

– light particles.

A photon carries energy proportional to the radiation frequency but has no mass.

Stick with me for a second, Einstein figured out the mass energy equivalence – Energy

equals Mass and Speed squared.

As an object approaches the speed of light, its mass rises very quickly, as does the energy

to move it… making it impossible.

The Asteroid that hit earth 65 million years ago causing all the extinction drama hit at

between 19-27 kilometres a second.

To put this in perspective, the speed of light is - 300,000 km per second…sooo… like……absolutely

nowhere close.

Despite not even reaching a fraction of light speed, the impact crater left by the meteor

– the Chicxulub crater is 150 kilometres in diameter and 20 kilometres in depth.

The Impact was one thing – the dust and debris it blew into the atmosphere was entirely

another.

It covered large swathes of the world in dust and blocked out the sun for weeks.

It also caused massive fires and generated a tsunami tidal wave.

Annnd of course, we know it triggered the K-PG extinction event.

All of this for an asteroid travelling at 20 something kilometres per second?

I mean…… it's a bit ridiculous - as you can imagine anything approaching the speed

of light would be…well… ridiculous.

When it comes to impact at speed….size doesn't matter.

Think about it.

A bullet hitting you in the chest is more likely to kill you than being run over by

a car at 20 Kilometres per hour.

If something .01 the speed of light hit the earth it would leave a huge crater….

Like…… huge huge and likely choke the planet and plantlife with dust from the fall

out.

Aside of the potential millions of people who would die on impact, billions would likely

die in the fallout.

If something one tenth the speed of light hit the earth the impact would be so great

that it would crack a hole in the earths crust, wounding it right to the mantle, spilling

hot hot molten mantle, which could turn the earth into a firery ball…

Also, the light from the impact, which would generate energy thousands upon thousands of

times more powerful than the most deadly nuclear weapon we have, would instantly blind us.

We would die a firey death but we wouldn't be able to see a thing.

And yes, say an asteroid with mass travelled at the speed of light defying everything we

know about the laws of physics thus far and hit the earth… well… honies….

Its over…

If something the speed of light hit the earth the energy it hit with would punch a hole

in the earth right to the core, turn the world's surface into a huge ball of fire, the atmosphere

would burn away and we'll all die quickly in a blaze.

The crumbling earth rocks and moon would be knocked out of orbit and after the great blaze

we would be space rocks.

But fear not….

Once again….

It cant and wont happen.

That doesn't mean we are safe from regular Asteroids, though….

Although you worrying about those wont help… so don't bother…

NASA is on it.

OKAY what a cheery video!

- What do you guys think would happen if an Asteroid hit earth at light speed ? How long

in advance do you think we would know about it?

Answers on a postcard….

But actually in the comments section!

Before I go I am going to read some comments from one of my

Dominic Scott said: California leaving instead would be the end of the US.

Howard Schultz's 2020 Bid, a Facebook-WhatsApp Merger & Peace Talks in Afghanistan | The Daily Show - Duration: 3:43.

There are now only 644 days

until the 2020 presidential election.

And I don't know about you guys, but I've already set my DVR.

Yeah. I even added an extra five minutes in case it goes long.

And this race was going to be pretty simple, right?

It was gonna be the best Democrat

running against Donald Trump.

But now, someone has thrown a grande wrench in the works.

The 2020 presidential race right now getting bigger by the day.

A possible new contender.

Former Starbucks CEO, Howard Schultz,

he says he's considering a run.

He would do it as an Independent,

taking on both the president and the Democrats.

TV REPORTER: Leading Democrats are protesting,

because they're worried Schultz could siphon votes

from their nominee and help the president win reelection.

I am seriously thinking of running for president.

I will run as a centrist Independent

outside of the two-party system.

Okay. I don't know if this is his plan or not,

but after hearing him speak, now I need a coffee.

(mimics Schultz): "This is my plan...

to run...for... president."

(normal voice): Also, his announcement sounds like

a really complicated Starbucks order, right?

He's like, "a centrist Independent"

It sounds like someone would order that.

"Can I get a centrist independent

"outside of the two-party system?

No foam, no foam."

So it would be Mr. Pumpkin Spice Latte

taking on an actual pumpkin spice latte.

Which is pretty cool.

Will be interesting.

(cheers and applause)

Although, although I will say this.

If I was a Democrat, I wouldn't be worried

about the Starbucks CEO running against me,

because you know he's probably gonna spell

his name wrong on the ballot, so...

it's not gonna work out.

Speaking of billionaires with nothing better to do

than ruin everyone's life, Mark Zuckerberg...

Yesterday, the Facebook CEO announced that he is planning

to combine Facebook and Instagram

with the messaging service, WhatsApp,

which is great news because Facebook and Instagram

get hacked all the time, and WhatsApp never does.

Yeah. So now people who only use WhatsApp

don't have to feel left out anymore.

Yeah, this is... This is such a junk idea.

This is trash.

The last thing anyone wants is to mix those three worlds.

Instagram is where you slide into the DMs, all right?

Facebook is for ignoring news from your family.

And WhatsApp is for when you want to join ISIS.

All right? They need to be separate, totally separate.

Otherwise, we're gonna get mixed up.

I don't want to send a dick pic to my aunt,

and I definitely don't want to send one to ISIS. Again.

Moving on to international news.

A major event was just announced in Afghanistan.

The United States and Taliban have agreed in principal

to a peace framework.

TV REPORTER: The United States is considering

a full withdrawal of troops in Afghanistan,

and that would be in return for a cease-fire

and commitment by the Taliban to keep Afghan territory

from being used as a staging ground

for terrorist groups like Al-Qaeda.

TV REPORTER: This would be the biggest step toward ending

the nearly two-decade-long war in Afghanistan to date.

Damn. I... I had even forgotten

there was still a war in Afghanistan.

I... I feel like we all stopped watching after season nine.

It was like... Yeah, it's like the Grey's Anatomy of conflicts.

It's like, I get it, you know.

But I am glad that there could be an end in sight.

It's also funny how America

has lowered its expectations in Afghanistan, right?

First, America was like, "Afghanistan will be

a fully-fledged democracy."

Then it was like, "Okay, well, maybe not a democracy,

but no more terrorism."

Now it's just like, "Okay, I'm just gonna close the door

and you guys keep it down in there, okay?"

To The Moon & Mars - Aerospace Engineering: Crash Course Engineering #34 - Duration: 10:01.

If you want to take to the skies or fly to Mars, you're going to need a machine to get you there.

Humans dreamed of taking flight for thousands of years, but it took special tools, techniques, and materials to make it possible.

It took aerospace engineering.

[Theme Music]

We've been able to accomplish some remarkable things since machines have given us the power of flight.

Astronauts visited the Moon in less time than it takes to cross the Atlantic by boat,

and my direct flight from LA to Missoula takes less time than it takes to drive across LA County.

We've been able to do these things because of aerospace engineering, the field dedicated to designing and building machines that fly.

It's broken down into two main parts: aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering.

Aeronautical engineering is focused on making aircraft – like gliders, jets, and helicopters

– while astronautical engineering builds spacecraft – like probes, satellites, and spaceships.

Both disciplines made enormous strides in the 20th century thanks in part to the Cold War conflict between the US and the Soviet Union.

That rivalry gave us the race to land on the Moon, as well as advancements in jet propulsion, radar, materials science, and so much more.

Today nations still compete, but so do private companies – and the goal isn't just getting back to the Moon, but making it to Mars.

It's not only a good headline.

If we've learned anything from the Space Race, it's that competition drives innovation.

The rocket company SpaceX plans on sending people to Mars as early as 2024 and, to make that happen, you need a lot of innovation.

But whether you're sending people across space or just flying around in the atmosphere, you're going to need to know some basic flying principles.

For atmospheric flight, the critical one is lift, and the most basic form of lift is buoyancy.

Buoyancy works because the atmosphere has what physicists call a pressure gradient,

meaning that air pressure gets a tiny bit smaller for every little bit higher you go.

The difference in those pressures creates a small upward force, which can push an object up if it's light enough – that's lift!

The earliest form of flight, hot air balloons, uses this principle.

That big ball of hot air is pushed up because it's lighter than the surrounding cooler air, and it pulls its passenger along for the ride.

If you want your balloon to be stationary, what engineers might call in equilibrium, then the sum of the forces should be equal to zero.

That means that the weight of gravity pulling the balloon – and the gas inside – downwards needs to exactly balance out the force of the pressure gradient pushing up.

But balloons are pretty impractical for most applications.

They're so dependant on the surrounding environment that things like changing weather conditions can make it hard to precisely steer or even land in one.

To fly more effectively, you need a propulsion system, or something that pushes you forward.

A propulsion system usually consists of a power source, and a propulsor, which is something that can convert power into forward motion.

There are three main propulsion systems that you'll use as an aeronautical engineer:

a heat engine with fuel, an electric motor with batteries, or an electric motor with solar cells.

The goal with any of these systems is to provide enough thrust to overcome the drag of the aircraft.

For commercial airplanes that do a lot of consistent travel,

you'll want to keep the engine efficiency high and fuel usage low so that you're not burning a hole in your wallet.

For something like a fighter jet, where speed is key, you'll need more thrust to accelerate quickly, which means that engine efficiency might go out the window.

Most modern planes rely on the jet engine, which has five core elements: an inlet, compressor, burner, turbine, and nozzle.

The inlet brings air into the engine, and that air is fed to the compressor.

The compressor then increases the pressure of the incoming air before it enters the burner.

At this stage of the engine, that high-pressure air is combined with fuel and burned.

This creates hot exhaust gas that's used to turn a turbine, which produces thrust as that air is passed through the nozzle.

Finally, the nozzle acts as your propulser, pushing the plane forward.

Now, there's a few important things to consider here.

You need to make sure that you have a sturdy inlet that can operate efficiently –

meaning that it can bring in enough air to the compressor – for your aircraft's entire flight.

When you're flying at low speeds, your compressor can handle pulling air into the engine itself,

but at higher speeds, a good inlet design allows you to have better maneuverability without disrupting the air flow to the compressor.

You also need to design your engine with materials that can withstand a lot of heat.

For instance, the blades in your turbine can experience temperatures of several hundred degrees Celsius.

You need to make them from special metals that can withstand that heat, like a nickel-based superalloy, or add a system to actively cool the blades.

If you decide to cool them, you'll need a hollow design so that you can pump cool air into the blades and out through small holes on their surface to keep everything cool.

Put that all together, make sure you have a good nozzle to act as a propulser, and you'd have yourself a quality propulsion system.

Now, that will get you pretty far here on Earth, but think about traveling to space and you're going to have to deal with a whole other slew of challenges.

And the biggest one is actually you.

You might think that technological limitations are what's stopping us from traveling the stars – and that's certainly part of it.

But your greatest obstacle will come from the human body's difficulty in adapting to the challenges of deep space.

Our bodies can't just flip a switch and suddenly adapt, so you'll need to build ships that can mimic an Earth-like environment.

Some aspects, like creating a breathable atmosphere, are pretty easy.

Others, like dealing with weightlessness are much harder.

One thing we don't yet have is artificial gravity.

Gravity affects everything from the development of your bones and muscles, to how easily your heart pumps blood through your body.

Without it, astronauts in space experience issues like weaker muscles or blurrier vision after just a few days

One way to deal with this, at least in theory, is to take advantage of the apparent centrifugal force and create a spacecraft that spins.

This could effectively mimic gravity in a similar way to how water stays in a rapidly spinning bucket.

Space is also full of radiation, which can increase the crew's risk of cancer and even hurt the ship.

Long-term exposure to radiation can severely damage onboard electronics, causing short-circuits and corrupting memory.

So if you don't want your design to get fried in space, you need to build it to withstand that radiation.

Using insulating materials for computer chips instead of the usual silicon will help.

So will designing electronics to have external shields made out of things like lead.

That'll make the overall size of your system larger, so you have to factor that in too.

And that's just space itself.

There's even more to consider once you start talking about dealing with the atmospheres of other planets.

Take a look at Mars, and you'll find an atmosphere about 1% as dense as Earth's,

and a temperature that ranges from -125°C in the winter to about 20°C in the summer –

all things that your designs need to be able to handle if we ever have hopes of traveling or even living there.

But before you go off and try and colonize another planet, it's good to start of with a simpler mission,

like designing a satellite that doesn't have all the problems of needing an astronaut on board.

Satellites have three main elements: the payload, the bus, and the launcher.

The payload is all the equipment that performs the satellite's main functions, like receiving telecommunications or processing and sending data.

The bus refers to the systems and structures that provide functions like power, protection, stability, and orbital control –

which all allow the payload to perform its intended mission.

The launcher, or the launch vehicle adapter assembly, is the connection between the bus and the rocket that boosts the satellite into orbit.

All of these parts need to come together in the design of your satellite.

And you better make sure all your math is right, because a simple calculation mistake can be devastating, both in terms of human life and in the cost of all your equipment.

Back around the turn of the millennium, NASA lost a 125 million dollar Mars orbiter just because of a mix-up of units.

NASA's team was using metric units while the manufacturer was using English ones,

ultimately throwing off the orbiter's calculations and causing it to burn up in the Martian atmosphere.

There's one last, special kind of spacecraft you might need to design, a spacesuit.

You see, a spacesuit isn't just a set of clothes that you wear in space – it's basically it's own human-sized ship!

It protects an astronaut from getting too hot or too cold, provides them with oxygen to breathe, and can even store drinking water.

And they have those gold-lined visors that shield their eyes from the super bright sunlight of space.

And the suit's tough exterior provides protection from space dust, which can actually be really dangerous when it's moving around faster than a speeding bullet.

You can't beef the suit up too much though, because astronauts still need to be able to move around effectively.

Conserving energy is also important since the food options are a little more...limited up there.

That's why engineers are always trying to come up with better spacesuit designs, like NASA's Z-2 advanced prototype.

The Z-2 uses advanced composites to achieve a lightweight, highly durable suit that could withstand long duration missions in harsh environments, like the one found on Mars.

Whether it's SpaceX, NASA, or someone else, whoever plans on getting to Mars will need spacesuits like these.

And a good spaceship.

But with the right engineering practices, and a little luck, there's a good chance that we'll one day be a multiplanetary species.

Today we learned all about aerospace engineering and its two main fields of aeronautical engineering and astronautical engineering.

We applied the concepts of lift and buoyancy to flying, and found out how a propulsion system is more effective than something like a hot air balloon.

Then we learned how managing the human body in space is one of the biggest challenges that aerospace engineers face.

Finally, we learned what goes into making a good spacesuit.

I'll see you next time, when we talk all about computer engineering.

Cody Simpson's Broadway Debut - Duration: 10:40.

(upbeat dance music)

So in an earlier segment, when I was talking about

Caitlyn Jenner and the makeup collection,

they had his as the pronoun in the prompter

so I just read that, and as I was reading it I was like

oh my god, I just said his, it's obviously a her.

So I wanted to make that clear

that I'm down with the right pronoun.

It is live TV.

Live TV ya'll.

Not your fault.

Wendy makes it look easy.

I love that slogan, I am down with the right pronoun.

Right?

That's why all the color blanched out of my face

as I was reading the thing, I was like what?

Anyway, back to the show.

Our first guest has got it all,

he's a singer, actor, and he's Australian.

Oooh.

I mean everybody loves an Australian.

He recently made his Broadway debut

in the hit show Anastasia.

Please welcome the multi talented Cody Simpson.

(audience applause)

Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome.

How are you?

Hello.

Hi, how are you?

(audience cheers)

Alright, oh yeah Cody, how you going?

Yeah, good how are you?

Yeah great.

That's good, that's good.

Thank you, I've spent a lot time down under.

So, in Australia, they say, how you going?

Like, instead of how are you doing?

And the first time I heard it, I was getting on a plane,

they're like, how you going?

And I'm like, "on that plane."

Back to America. So that's why we're saying

how you going, cause we're both kind of Australian.

So speaking of that, Going good mate, going good.

I mean you are used to the warm balmy

temperatures, where are you from in Australia?

Gold Coast, Queensland.

Oh the Gold Coast, it's warm, it's sunny, it's gorgeous.

How are you dealing with our polar vortex?

It's little different, you know, I came from, I was in

Gold Coast, moved to L.A. which as you know is very warm

itself and grew up a surfer and stuff so this is

a little different, but here for good reasons.

Okay, oh I could just listen to you talk all day long.

Just have him read the cards.

So wait, Carson you did an Australian accent, I'll do one.

Okay so, so you know just about.

Is it good? Is it good?

I thought it was actually quite nice.

Alright, so you're friends with Justin Bieber, yah?

Yeah, yeah.

So what do you think about his new clothing line?

I saw it before I walked on the thing, yeah.

Personally, he's a great guy but not my thing myself.

Oh.

It's alright, I support you.

Yeah yeah yeah.

It is a bit paper sack-isk.

There might be a lot of well dressed janitors around.

He's a good dude though, it's cool.

He is, you know, you can love the artist

and not love the label, so to speak.

Alright A.J. you have a question?

Yeah, so first of all, I love the look.

Thank you.

The layers, it's cool.

The first time being here get to wear more

than just a T-shirt, board shorts and all that.

Just like the panel.

Right, you get to layer, right?

You made the panel way cooler just by walking out here.

No, congrats on Anastasia, just extended

eight more weeks on Broadway.

Congrats.

Are you enjoying the Broadway experience?

Absolutely yeah, I've been on for about two months now

and as you know I extended another two months

so it's a new thing for me, it's a challenge

but something I was ready to do

and I'm having a ball so it's fun yeah.

Great, is it a lot different than your regular work.

You're a rock star, you're a singer, you're a pop star.

How is it different when you're doing Broadway?

It's a little bit-- a lot of the experience

and the expertise carry over from being able to be onstage,

how you carry yourself and all that stuff,

but in terms of incorporating stage acting and music

and staging and dancing and all that stuff,

it's a whole new experience, but something

I've been wanting to do for a while.

And just to clarify, your Broadway hair and makeup team

also is not able to find extra strong hairspray?

It's the look, it looks like the look,

you got the little, the rocker.

It's tousled.

The rocker tousle look, I can't pull it off.

When I came in to start the character,

I wanted to have hair quite similar

to the character in the cartoon, the film.

How he kinda has the Backstreet Boy thing going on.

Yeah, it's good.

I was like you know what, I kinda wanna do that,

I wanna stay true to what people are coming to see.

To the cartoon.

How you draw it.

I love that, now you have legions of fans.

What do your fans call themselves?

They've called themselves many things over the years.

They were angels at first, I think maybe Simponizers, now--

Simpsonizers, I kinda like that one.

My band's called Cody and the Tide,

so we call them the tide team now.

The tide team, now I imagine that when you leave the stage

at night, there are girls just swarming that door.

Have you had any crazy fan encounters?

Because the thing about Broadway is,

it just lets you out right into like 42nd Street.

Like right into the masses.

That's what it looks like most nights there.

Wow.

At the Broadhurst, but no it's fun like it makes it

worthwhile if you've finished a show and you come out

and the show means a lot to people

like being able to portray this story on the stage,

just like people love it and so to come out

and see the reaction first hand right away, it's awesome.

They're diehards, it's great for the show.

I mean it brings a whole new audience to Broadway,

so it's wonderful.

Okay, Harry Styles, one of his fans recently got a tattoo

of his face on her face,

I saw that. which is wild.

Look at that, it's not good, it's bad.

Yeah that's also not a good hair swoop either.

No, it's all. She's cute too.

She was cute, rest in peace her face.

Have any of your fans ever done anything like that?

Definitely not my face on their own.

I've had fans get tattoos, but luckily enough

it'd be on an like arm or a, you know --

Of your face?

Not of my face, no, of my name or like a song lyric

or something but never anything like this.

I just have a tattoo of your arm on my arm.

Yeah?

Yeah I'll show you later, it's a little weird.

Well that's logical.

Yeah, I'm a fan.

Now we obviously know you as you are today,

but is it true you were completely discovered on Youtube?

How did that happen, you just uploaded a song

and all of a sudden you had millions of views?

I was actually discovered on MySpace.

Whoa!

Wow!

Now we're taking it way back!

That is old school.

I'm very young, I don't even know what MySpace is.

What are you talking about, MySpace?

Everyone nowadays is like, "Oh I wish you could go on your

Instagram page and a song would automatically play."

I'm like, that was MySpace.

Right.

But yeah I was discovered, I was posting original songs,

covers and just me playing the guitar and singing.

I was probably 12, 13 at the time,

and actually my first trip out of Australia was coming here

to New York City to meet with record labels and stuff.

I was a baby, I was turning 13 at that time.

Wow.

My family was supportive enough to make the jump with me

for a couple of years and get me set up

and I couldn't be more--

They actually moved here with you?

Yeah.

Yeah, to--

Wow.

I feel like your story is becoming the new story though.

That's more and more common that people are being found

out on social media now and making an entire career of it.

Yeah it's kind of like the way to do it nowadays.

Where before it's like you'd be lucky to walk

into a building and maybe someone would appreciate

or recognize you but now it's like

you can build your own thing from the ground up

and it's kinda like democratizing.

Right right.

I was just gonna say how do you feel--

The whole experience,

As someone-- Anyone can do it.

But not everybody's had quite your experience.

Not everybody moved to America.

Well you still have to have talent.

I mean you've toured with Justin Bieber, you've dated

Gigi Hadid, I mean that's quite an introduction.

That's not Gigi Hadid.

No that's not Gigi no.

That's not? I prefer him to Gigi Hadid, myself.

Well no, yeah.

I will say this though, Gigi Hadid

could make Justin Bieber's new clothing line look dope,

so just she's stunning.

Mmmmmm.

I think you're wrong.

Oh, come on, come on, don't hate.

No but what has this experience been like?

It's been quite a whirlwind for you, do you ever get

a moment to just sit and kinda take it all in?

I do yeah, I do.

It's been a whirlwind as you said, from

traveling the world touring and all that stuff

to being in the spotlight, it can be difficult

you know what I mean, but you gotta have your outlets.

I, not here, but I usually surf and swim laps

and do all those things, and people have their ways

of dealing with it and you kinda

just gotta take it in stride.

There's no other way to do it, you gotta be okay

with people caring about things

outside of your work and your music.

And if you're not you--

I have a question.

So you were effectively a child star, right?

And we read all of these headlines and all of these stories

about children getting into this business way too young.

How did you avoid all of those pitfalls?

Because I feel like everyday we're reading another story.

How did you, personally, was it because of your family?

Family, family yeah.

You know a lot of times you hear the stories

and it's usually because people

don't have good support group, or support base around them,

and I was lucky enough to have very normal family,

I grew up in a family of Olympic swimmers basically.

Super normal.

Totally normal.

Well people that weren't necessarily--

were very different to the--

Right but it was solid. Not Hollywood.

And it was solid, and they were there with me until I was,

they didn't move back home until I was--

A structure, a work ethic.

And your family checks you.

How many Olympic swimmers are in your family?

That's weird, and you just breezed past that.

My mom and dad.

Really? Oh, okay.

Well that's how they met, so I was destined.

I was like I'm gonna be a musician after I swim,

after I do all this.

Have you swam in the pool on Bondai Beach on the ocean?

The Icebergs.

The Icebergs.

Icebergs.

Now I know the whole water connection and I know

you're working with the United Nations on climate change.

What's that all about?

Yeah, so last year, or two years ago now,

I started working with the UN,

I was their first oceans advocate.

So we've been doing fair bit of environmental work with them

and making a few documentaries, urging young people to

reduce their use of single use plastics,

meat consumption, things like that

that are heavily affecting the world today.

Yeah, awareness, that's the key.

Awareness is the main thing.

Exactly, alright well thanks for being here.

We loved having you, now you must go check out Cody.

He's starring in Anastasia at the Broadhurst Theater

Come see us, come see us.

on Broadway until April 14th, right?

April 14th, yeah.

Alright and check out Cody Simpson

and the Tide at the Mercury Lounge on March 24th.

You can be a groupie live and in person.
