Nowadays striped samosas are popular street food.
They are too appealing and even more delicious to eat.
Let's start with the procedure of making it.
We have taken 2 cups of refined flour in a mixing bowl and add ½ tsp salt to it, followed by ¼ tsp carom seeds.
Slightly crush the seeds like this and then add.
Now add ¼ cup ghee.
We have melted the ghee here and add it to the flour.
Mix well.
Now add water in small portions and knead stiff dough.
We are done with kneading the dough and used ½ cup water for kneading this much quantity of flour.
Cover and keep the dough aside to set for 20 to 25 minutes and then prepare the samosas.
Meanwhile let us prepare stuffing for the samosas.
Preheat a pan and add 1 tbsp oil to it.
Let the oil heat sufficiently and add ½ tsp cumin powder to it.
In case cumin powder is not available then you can coarsely ground the cumin seeds and then add it on.
Now add 1 tsp coriander powder, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, 1 tsp ginger paste, 2 finely chopped green chilies and sauté them for a while.
Reduce the flame to minimum to prevent the spices form browning.
Now add ½ cup green peas to the pan and sauté for a while.
Cook the peas till they turn tender.
Cover the peas for 2 to 3 minutes and keep the flame low.
We have taken 4 boiled potatoes, let us peel them.
We are done with peeling all the potatoes.
3 minutes are done, let us check the peas.
Peas have turned tender.
Press like this to check.
Now let us mix potatoes to the pan.
For this finely crumble the potatoes and add.
Also add ¼ tsp garam masala, ¼ tsp red chilly powder,¼ tsp dry mango powder, more than ½ tsp
salt or to taste, 2 tbsp finely chopped green coriander and mix everything really well.
Keep the flame to minimum.
We are done with roasting the potatoes and peas with spice for 3 to 4 minutes and they have turned fragrant.
Stuffing is now done and ready, transfer it to a separate plate.
20 minutes are over, dough is ready as well.
Grease your hands with some oil and knead the dough again until smooth.
Smooth and stiff dough is ready, let us now prepare lumps from the dough.
You can keep the size of samosas small or big as per your preference.
Grease the rolling board with some oil.
Take one dough lump and roll giving it a round shape.
Now start rolling it out.
We are rolling out the dough ball into an oval shape, keeping it thick same as a chapatti.
We are done with rolling out an oval shaped sheet, divide it into two equal halves.
As we are making stripes samosa, so mark stripes on one part of the sheet like this.
Leave ½ cm on both the edges and mark stripes like this.
Mark ½ cm wide stripe.
now apply some water over it.
Place the plain half sheet on this marked sheet and roll it out using a rolling pin so that they stick together to each other.
Lift the sheet and place it on your hand like this. .
Now prepare a cone from this sheet same as we do while making regular samosa.
Apply some water and fold to make a cone sticking both the edges together.
Place the edges over one another and press well to stick.
Here, we are done with preparing a cone.
Now stuff the cone with the filling nicely.
Apply some water on the edges using your finger tip like this.
Stick the edges like this.
We are done with preparing the samosa, place it on a plate.
Likewise prepare rest of the samosas as well.
Meanwhile heat enough oil in the wok to fry the samosas.
We are done with preparing rest of the samosas as well,
Let us check the oil now.
Drop a small dough lump into the oil.
Dough is roasting well and is gradually coming to the surface
We need slightly warm oil for deep frying the samosas and also keep the flame medium.
Oil is hot enough, let us drop the samosas to fry.
And fry the samosas till golden brown in color from both sides.
Samosas are fried well on the bottom.
Flip them.
They are golden brown from both sides.
Take them out from the wok.
Hold the slotted ladle to the side, so that the extra oil goes back into the wok.
Place the samosa in a plate.
Fry all the samosas in the same way.
All the Samosas are fried and ready, take them out.
It takes 15 to 16 minutes to fry the samosa at once.
Turn off the flame.
Scrumptious and crispy striped samosas are ready.
You can serve it with green coriander chutney, tomato sauce or any chutney of your choice.
It is not that tough to prepare these samosas,
Make sure , that when you prepare the cone for the samosa, stick it well.
Stuff the samosa and stick the edges well.
After making the samosa leave it for 30 minutes to dry up and then fry them.
When the samosas are dried up, bubbles don't pop up on it.
While frying keep the oil slightly hot and keep low flame.
Place samosa in oil and fry till golden brown and then take them out.
You will make scrumptious samosas.
