Waching daily Jun 12 2017

(Episode 1675)

This is Entertainment Weekly, and I'm Shin Hyunjoon.

Hello, I'm Jung Jiwon.

It is the second week of June.

Where are your plans for today?

I think I can answer that question.

Since the show went through changes last week,

everyone has been saying it's gotten even better.

So everyone is in front of their TV now.

People all over the world are talking about our show.

This show is broadcast globally through KBS World,

and I heard it's so popular.

What exactly do you mean by "all over the world"?

First off, I heard that people in Saudi Arabia...

All right, sure.

Saudi Arabia? Who told you that?

I heard it from my close friend, Abdullah Hassan.

- So did he call you? / - Yes, he did.

What did he say?

- Sorry? Did you ask me what he said? / - Yes.

- Do you want to hear it? / - Yes.

Gosh! Seriously.

Then he said, "I love you, Entertainment Weekly."

All right, thanks for telling us.

- My apologies. / - Our show is global indeed.

As always, we have a lot of news prepared for today.

First up is Yoon Jiyeon and Kim Sungeun.

Yes, I'm ready.

We're digging up behind-the-scene stories

of hot news items

through the second Recollections Through Issues.

We'll also talk about the marijuana scandal

that happened earlier this week.

Please stay tuned.

Before that, it's This Week's Hot Click. This week,

we kept hearing about news related to marijuana.

Gain confessed that she was offered marijuana,

and T.O.P was discharged from hospital after four days.

This is This Week's Hot Click. Let's begin.

I was fuming. I was so angry.

The police have launched an investigation

due to Brown Eyed Girls' Gain's confession.

The photo she posted on June 4

on her social media page is what started everything.

Claiming that her boyfriend Ju Jihoon's friend A

offered her marijuana, she disclosed his name

along with the text messages.

Her boyfriend, Ju Jihoon,

was sentenced to probation for drug use in 2009.

Her acquaintance is said to have recommended marijuana,

saying it'd help her cope with her anxiety disorder.

Can he be punished for simply recommending it?

Verbal recommendation

can't be subject to punishment by the law.

However, if it included detailed information

on where to purchase it or how to consume it,

he could be charged as an accomplice.

The police will summon those mentioned in the post.

Let's wait and see what will come out of this.

T.O.P, who was hospitalized for a drug overdose

after being indicted for smoking marijuana,

was discharged from intensive care today.

(T.O.P hospitalized for drug overdose.)

T.O.P was finally discharged

after four days and revealed himself before reporters.

(T.O.P leaving the intensive care unit)

How do you feel now?

I'm sorry.

Do you admit to smoking marijuana?

- Please say a few words. / - How do you feel?

Sitting in a wheelchair, he seemed to have lost weight.

He apologized when he was asked how he feels.

(He was in a wheelchair looking thin.)

He was moved to an ambulance just outside the hospital.

(He apologized and said nothing else.)

The hospital's spokesperson stated that his guardian

wanted to move him to a hospital with private wards.

He'll be hospitalized again for psychiatric treatment.

T.O.P fell apart in just a matter of nine days.

What happened to him?

On June 1, he admitted that he smoked marijuana

four times at home with a trainee last October.

He must reflect on what he did,

and he deeply regrets his actions.

(He deeply regrets his actions.)

He's just been saying that he regrets what he did.

On June 4, T.O.P uploaded a handwritten apology,

stating that he deserves all punishment.

On June 5, he was indicted without detention

by the Prosecutors' Office for violating drug laws.

(He was dismissed from the conscripted police force.)

- Please say a few words. / - Please comment.

He hadn't been assigned to any position

since being transferred from the police band

to Task Group Four at Seoul City Hall.

The incident then broke out the next day.

- I was nervous. / - But that wasn't it?

- It's not a big deal. / - I took some tranquilizers.

- Really? / - Yes.

He took prescription tranquilizers before

going to sleep and didn't wake up the next day.

News of the incident broke out when he was

sent to a hospital nearby around noon.

He brought the prescription medication here.

I saw him taking the medication yesterday even.

Those in his division are saying they saw him

taking his medication and he didn't overdose.

However, the hospital confirmed

it was due to an overdose.

We have a positive result for Benzodiazepine toxicity.

Hence, we have concluded it was respiratory failure

caused by a sleep inducer overdose.

A suspicion on lax drug regulations has been raised.

The drug T.O.P overdosed on was Benzodiazepine.

We reached out to an expert for more information on it.

One tablet usually contains five mg or ten mg of it.

In severe cases,

patients are prescribed the ten mg tablets.

One must consume at least 20 tablets

for such side effects to occur.

T.O.P regained consciousness yesterday evening,

three days after he was hospitalized, and was

- discharged this afternoon. / - Do you admit to it?

- Please say a few words. / - Please don't push.

- Do you admit to it? / - Please say a few words.

He's been dismissed from the conscripted police force,

and he'll stand trial on June 29 without detention.

The court's verdict will not only decide

whether he can return to the force,

but will also profoundly affect his career.

(He is scheduled to stand trial on June 29.)

(Recollections Through Issues)

The marijuana issue

has been around in the industry before.

We analyzed the reasons celebrities are exposed to it.

Recollections Through Issues begins now.

(Recollections Through Issues)

Some claimed to have tried it for artistic inspiration.

Seocho Police Station

arrested several composers for smoking...

Last year, musicians including singers and composers

were caught by the police while smoking marijuana.

They confessed that they had been gathering to work

on music together and smoking marijuana habitually.

The list included hip-hop artist Iron. He said that

he smoked marijuana because

he heard it boosts hearing and concentration.

Kim Taewon also admitted making

Boohwal's second album under its influence.

Now that I look back, it didn't help at all.

Only you get pleasure out of it.

It ruins everything around you, but you don't know it.

Because marijuana smokers experience extreme emotions,

they think they produce good work under its influence.

However, scientists have concluded that is groundless.

(Recollections Through Issues)

It could also be due to psychological reasons.

They're often sentimental people.

Performing on stage or having to create something

can cause psychological stress or anxiety.

Such stress can lead to various psychological issues.

Sometimes, I'd just pinch myself randomly.

- To check if you're alive. / - Yes, exactly.

Recognizable celebrities can't visit doctors freely.

Recently, fans were shocked to hear Gain confess

about having been offered marijuana

by her acquaintance to overcome her anxiety disorder.

The recently indicted T.O.P of Big Bang confessed

on a TV show about suffering from depression.

It was when I suffered from depression.

- He cries more. / - Yes, more than he used to.

- He cries even at the smallest things. / - I see.

Celebrities rise to fame and are then ignored.

They're in the spotlight and then they're not.

The love from their fans or interest

brings them great joy.

When that doesn't happen anymore, they are left

to feel empty and anxious of their situation.

Hip-hop artist E Sens admitted to smoking marijuana

to overcome his fears

of not being relevant anymore in the industry.

Actor Kim Sungmin also resorted to

smoking marijuana to overcome

the stress of investment failure and insomnia.

Smoking drugs never solved any of his problems though.

The public turned on him after news of it broke out,

and that led to social phobia and depression.

In the end, he took his own life.

Marijuana shouldn't be an escape route for celebrities.

Since they're loved by their fans,

they should be more prudent and strict with themselves.

I'm Kim Sungeun with Recollections Through Issues.

A lot of dark news made the headlines this week.

I hope that won't be the case anymore.

Let's move on then and lighten up the mood.

Next up is Oh Inyoung, Kim Taejin, and Kim Saengmin.

Coming up soon is Veteran.

This week, I met with the trending Mr. Positive,

- Bae Jungnam. / - This should be fun.

Please stay tuned for his interview.

On today's Guerrilla Date, I met with Yoon Siyoon

and Kim Minjae of "The Best Hit".

They came very prepared for this interview.

They danced, they rapped, and they

brought the house down while walking down Hongdae.

You'll meet them in just a bit.

I was at the set of "Father is Strange",

the weekend TV series

that has been soaring in the ratings.

From how the actors are off-screen

to the stories behind some of the famous scenes,

you'll hear all about them right now.

("Father is Strange")

The mesmerizing TV series

"Father is Strange" is the talk of the town thanks to

its fun and realistic stories of a normal family.

Entertainment Weekly met the cast on set.

Laughter was frequently heard on the set of the show,

so please join me to meet the cast.

(The most popular series, "Father is Strange")

Rehearsal, cue!

(Ryu Suyoung seeks their blessing in marriage.)

We will never use separate rooms.

Ryu Suyoung seeks their blessing in marriage.

Being so nervous, he was drowning in sweat.

Congratulations on hitting 30 percent in the ratings

Thank you.

What's the secret to its success?

Me.

I'm sorry about that. It's really the cast.

The chemistry between us makes everything believable.

Also, how can I not mention Byun Hyeyoung?

- Byun Hyeyoung, you're up. / - I'm here.

My intelligence.

My gosh.

My personality.

I'm also sexy. All those combined

makes me the classy Byun Hyeyoung.

- And here is Lee Yuri in person. / - The ratings

are now over 30 percent.

What a relief.

I hope it's just the start though.

If Entertainment Weekly covers our show

for about ten minutes, we'll hit the 40 percent mark.

Please do so every week for us.

Now let's take a closer look into the scary but

adorable couple, Suyoung and Yuri.

What's so charming about you two?

We're unpredictable.

We seem to be in love, but we argue a lot.

We're close to getting married then we call it off.

That's how some real-life couples are.

- Let's get married. / - I don't intend to marry.

Hyeyoung,

let's break up.

They break up and make up time and time again.

It doesn't get any more realistic than this.

- They know how to play games. / - Are you good

- at this in real life too? / - To be honest,

I'm too old for it now.

My brain doesn't have a room for it anymore.

It's full as it is.

I'll only do that on screen.

- What does Suyoung think though? / - How do you

deal with the push and pull game?

Being in love lowers your intelligence.

Keeping a relationship in that state is impossible,

so you need to try and be smarter and smarter.

I'm sharing with you my wisdom as a married man.

Let's get married.

Just for a year.

After a complicated dating period,

they decide to tie the knot.

(Seeking their parents' approval)

- I want to marry her. / - I want to marry him.

- Please approve. / - Please approve.

But then a bigger obstacle showed up.

(However!)

Their mothers were the worst of enemies.

Now it became their mission to seek their approval.

Yuri stays calm and collected as she makes her case.

Just how will you make her happy?

Meanwhile, Suyoung...

(I'll cook and do the dishes.)

(We won't go to bed angry.)

(We won't ever involve our parents.)

(We won't ever sleep in separate rooms.)

I'll love her and be grateful forever.

When did he learn how to rap?

(That wasn't the worst of it.)

He even kicked his leg above the dinner table.

That's funny.

Yuri's family ended up bursting into laughter.

You can tell just how hard it was for him.

He had to deal with the spasms.

I just felt so bad for you while watching that.

- Yes, I was at war today. / - Right.

I was a rabbit dropped into a tiger's den.

You put on a very believable performance today.

Thank you. It's not easy seeking the parents' approval.

Were you acting from experience then?

Yes, I did think of how I was like too.

It's hard meeting your girlfriend's parents.

(They were able to get their blessing.)

Thank you, Father. Thank you, Mother.

(Suyoung's ad-lib that was cut during editing.)

Finally, Yuri's parents approved of their marriage.

It must have brought back memories

because he did a victory cheer.

(The director wouldn't end the scene.)

The real battle was yet to come.

(The mothers had a battle to fight.)

(A fur coat in early summer?)

Can you feel the tension between them?

You look like a gangster of some sort.

- Doesn't she look familiar? / - I saw her before.

I saw this look in a movie about thieves.

She once played a gangster in a movie

and paid homage to that when meeting the other mother.

Let's go.

The moment of complete utter tension.

Are you kidding me?

How dare you talk like that?

(Opinions collided making the dinner a mess.)

In the end, the dinner was ruined by their argument.

Your mother-in-law is

someone who has to have her way with things.

Well, I'm no stranger to them though.

How can we forget

the strict mothers-in-law who made her stronger?

You can never mask where you come from.

She was not only verbally abused, but she was

also a victim of physical abuse as well.

Someone should give her an award for her troubles.

I now have a new mother-in-law,

- and she's just as intimidating. / - That's right.

Mother.

Have a seat.

- Thank you. / - How dare you sit!

Anyone can tell that she's a piece of work too.

However, I do think that the show will prove that

my character can go up against someone so intimidating.

It's my personal take on the show.

There's another daughter-in-law

who has her work cut out for her too.

(Her husband's sisters are intimidating.)

Welcome to the world of in-laws!

What will come of your relationship with the sisters?

People used to be annoyed by the harassment,

but the viewers seem to be find it

more refreshing now.

- Really? / - They hope that I'm harassed more.

You should know that I have nowhere to go now though.

As your character from the series, can you ask

your sisters-in-law to go easy on you?

To my sisters-in-law. Hi, it's me, Yoojoo.

I know I annoy you.

They glare at each other every time they meet.

Sisters-in-law are uncomfortable,

but how are they in reality?

The two of you enjoying a meal together is unusual.

When we're shooting, we'll be like, "What's this?"

After that, we go back to being friends.

At first... What was the line again?

- "I'm Byun Hyeyoung." / - Right, that.

I was a bit intimidated by her acting.

- You were nervous. / - Yes.

Shall we steal the thunder at her wedding?

No one is able to handle them

when the three sisters put their minds to it.

Hi there, my brother Saengmin.

Don't say that here! We need to keep it professional.

This is a scary place.

Is that right?

My goodness.

What's your name?

It's Bae Jungnam.

What's your job?

Let's say I'm an actor who was once a model.

We prepared a lot of tricky questions. What do you say?

I'm prepared.

I only asked that as a joke but he answered it.

I was given an award for catching a robber.

Sure.

I can.

I can change about 80 percent of it.

But I have to think about it

But because I have to think about it,

I just hate to think before talking.

Of course, I can change it

I got a call the next day.

He said, "I'll send you the script first."

"Come for the audition two days later."

I read the script,

That's

because of this.

What is that?

You tried to act as a gangster, right?

You're such a cool model in modeling photos.

Weren't you worried about your image?

I acted in a short film called "Masquerade" in 2012.

To save my grandmother,

I dressed up as a woman and sold my body.

I was okay with any role. I enjoyed every role.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S DAUGHTER HAS 'PROOF' HER DAD WAS MURDERED BY - Duration: 4:23.

MICHAEL JACKSONS DAUGHTER HAS PROOF HER DAD WAS MURDERED BY THE ILLUMINATI

Paris Jackson, the eighteen-year-old daughter of the late pop star Michael Jackson, has

stunned the world of entertainment recently with the astonishing claim that her famous

father was deliberately killed. Now, she is pointing the finger firmly at the influential

and highly secretive society, the Illuminati.

When Michael Jackson was still alive, many people believed that he had connections with

the Illuminati because of the unusual imagery used on his album covers and in his music

videos which appeared to mirror the symbolism of the elusive organization. These connections

are very common in popular music, according to many theorists, who suggest that the entire

mainstream music industry is completely under the control of the mysterious society. It

may have been the case that Jackson was a member or an agent of the Illuminati at some

point, but according to his daughter Paris, the relationship must have soured. She had

sensationally claimed that her father repeatedly said before he died that he had been marked

for death by people who were more powerful than the government.' She also claimed that

she was not the only person to believe that a shadowy organization had a hand in the death

of her father and said that her entire family also believed it. Her aunt and Michaels

sister LaToya Jackson has been outspoken in her belief that her brother was murdered on

previous occasions. The most compelling piece of evidence that points to Jacksons death

is a murder a recording of a telephone call between Michael Jackson and his former manager

Dieter Weisner immediately before his death. In this conversation he said, I dont

know if I should tell you this. There may be a group of people; they want to get rid

of me, they dont want me here anymore I dont know whats going to happen but

I just feel... In my soul. Only God knows. They could shoot me; they could stab me, they

could frame me and say I overdosed on DRUGS; they can do a lot of thingsIts not the

government; its more than the government. The only person to have been convicted in

relation to Jacksons death is his personal physician, Dr Conrad Murray. Murray was convicted

of involuntary manslaughter after prescribing Jackson the drugs which led to his overdose

and sentenced to four years in prison. While Paris does not dispute that Murray was partially

responsible for her fathers death, she believes that he was not the sole actor. In

fact, she has described him as a pawn in the game. Paris Jackson has claimed that

she has further proof to support her incredible claims but that she is being very cautious

about how she goes about addressing this sinister issue. Its a chess game. And I am trying

to play the chess game the right way, she said, And thats all I can say about

that right now.

NASA DISCOVERS AN ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM THAT IS 'REMARKABLY - tech and science - Duration: 3:36.

NASA DISCOVERS AN ENTIRE SOLAR SYSTEM THAT IS REMARKABLY SIMILAR TO OURS

Astronomers at NASA have uncovered a solar system they believe to be remarkably similar

to Earths.

The discovery is considered a possible breakthrough in better understanding how our planet and

its neighbours were formed.

The system, around the star Epsilon Eridani, was discovered just 10 light-years away in

the constellation Eradinus.

According to the astronomers, it is the closest system that includes a star as youthful as

our own.

But while Epsilon Eridani looks like our own star, its actually one-fifth the age, and

it resembles the sun as it was long ago.

This star hosts a planetary system currently undergoing the same cataclysmic processes

that happened to the solar system in its youth, at the time in which the moon gained most

of its craters, Earth acquired the water in its oceans, and the conditions favorable for

life on our planet were set, said astronomer Massimo Marengo, one of the authors of the

paper.

Marengo, an Iowa State associate professor of physics and astronomy, along with other

astronomers, had been studying the star and its planetary system for more than a decade.

A 2009 scientific paper explained how the astronomers used data from NASAs Spitzer

Space Telescope to describe the stars disk of fine dust and debris left over from the

formation of planets and asteroid and comet collisions.

The team found the disk to have separate belts of asteroids resembling the asteroid and Kuiper

belts of our solar system.

In the new paper, data was used from NASAs Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy,

or SOFIA.

Residing in an aircraft, its able to take detailed pictures by aiming at distant stars.

Astronomers analyzed the mission and sifted through infrared data about the star, ultimately

finding that it was surrounded by two structures: an inner and outer disk, with a gap possibly

created by planets.

But we can now say with great confidence that there is a separation between the stars

inner and outer belts, Marengo said.

There is a gap most likely created by planets.

We havent detected them yet, but I would be surprised if they are not there.

Seeing them will require using the next-generation instrumentation, perhaps NASAs 6.5-meter

James Webb Space Telescope scheduled for launch in October 2018.

While its true a lot of time and attention has been spent on one nearby star and its

debris disk, Marengo says it could help give astronomers a better look at the very ancient

past of Earth and the planets surrounding it.

The prize at the end of this road is to understand the true structure of e Eridanis

out-of-this-world disk, and its interactions with the cohort of planets likely inhabiting

its system., Marengo said in a newsletter story about the project.

SOFIA, by its unique ability of capturing infrared light in the dry stratospheric sky,

is the closest we have to a time machine, revealing a glimpse of Earths ancient past

by observing the present of a nearby young sun.

I like their programs.

They also offer some after-hours programs which I know that some of you will like.

Go check them out.

You can see the link in the description below, DevMountain Bootcamp.

A big thank you to them for sponsoring Simple Programmer.

Today I got a bit of personal question for you which is basically, "Would you still enter

software development today knowing how yo make your money now?"

This question si from Will and he says, "I believe it is safe to say that you got your

financial freedom through making a blog, creating courses on your websites as well as PluralSight,

life coaching and leveraging financial gains to buy income producing real estate."

Yes, that's—I would say that that's true.

"Knowing what you know now, would you still choose the programming field to get to where

you are now if you had to start again and recreate it all again from scratch tomorrow,

or would you choose another field to build your financial independence faster?"

This is a good question.

This is something that I've thought about quite a bit.

It reminds me—I did a question or answered a question on do you actually like programming

where someone asked me if I actually like programming.

My answer was essentially yes, because that's why I got into the field.

I love programming.

I love solving problems.

I still love programming, even though I don't do it now.

In that video, I talk about what I believe is my higher calling and why I'm doing what

I'm doing so I'm not going to go into details there.

It's really interesting to ask the question of if I were—would I go—if I went back,

what would I do?

Would I become a programmer?

Would I even get into programming at all?

Or would I pursue some other avenue?

That's a tough one.

I think from day to day I would say that that changes in my mind, how I would answer that

question.

There's a part of me, a strong part of me that says, yeah, I would have always been

a programmer.

I love programming.

I love solving problems.

All the stuff that I went through in my career to learn programming and to improve myself,

that is all really—I'm glad that I took all those steps and got here.

I wouldn't give that up and I would do it again, because you've got to do what you love

and at that time I love programming.

Why would I do something different than that?

There's also a part of me that says, "Well, wait a minute.

If you're just going to strategically think about how would you become financially free

as quickly as possible, how would you do that, what would you do?

Then you'd be free to do whatever you whatever you wanted to do."

That part of me says, "Oh well, wait a minute.

I would go back and when I was younger, when I was 18, I would have never taken a job working

for someone else.

I would have figured out a way to rent a room for a few hundred bucks a month and live on

ramen and beans and eggs or whatever cheap food that I could and just get by.

Maybe save up a little bit of money ahead of time and then just start building an online

business.

Get my cost, my expenses down as low as possible."

I did this video about unmortgaging your life.

Essentially when you're born you've got a mortgage on your life.

You've got to pay some money to live.

You have an upkeep cost.

As soon as you get to the point where your upkeep cost, where you're able to generate

enough income where it pays your upkeep cost, you're free.

You've unmortgaged your life.

You now own your life and your time back.

Other than that you've got to pay your time to other people, to someone that you work

for that's going to pay you that's going to give you a job so that you can pay for food

and shelter and all this stuff that you need, your new iPhone.

But if you reduce your cost down as low as possible then you can be free sooner.

That part of me says, "Hey, I would probably reduce my cost down as low as possible.

I'd start an online business.

Maybe I'd start the online business probably creating software.

I'd probably be able to combine that and be a programmer and create some kind of an online

business or software that I could sell and I wouldn't have to make a lot of money, maybe

$500, $1000 a month.

I maybe have a year worth of runway to do it then I'd be free for the rest of my life,

because part of me regrets, even though I had a really successful career as a software

developer, part of me regrets working for someone else for all that time.

When I say regret, I don't mean like I get all sad about it and upset.

I feel like everything that happened in my life happened for a reason and that it took

me where I am today and I am grateful for that.

IF I just go back and think strategically I probably would do things a little—but

that's the thing.

It's like hindsight is 20/20.

Having the wisdom and knowledge that I have now I could look at that and say that, but

I can say this to you if you're a young one out there, if you're considering your path

in life.

If you want to know what I would advise you to do that is going to really fuckin' piss

off your parents, because I guarantee this advice will, is that I would say, "Go rent

a room for 200 bucks a month.

Save up like $5000.

Don't go to college, instead just start building an online business right from the start.

Just get to the point where keep your expenses so low, I mean just see how low.

Can you live like a homeless person, basically?

Can you have such low expenses and then just build a business that's going to reach that

amount?"

If you can live off $1000 a month.

I know some people can.

I've done it before in my life.

If you could reach that point and you could build a business that makes 1000 bucks a month

and I guarantee you anyone can do that in a year, it's really not hard, especially if

you have some programming skills.

Believe me, you can build a business that makes $1000 a year.

You're free.

You're free for life.

That will only go up.

In the next 10 years your income producing ability will go up and you can raise your

lifestyle.

You don't have to live like a poor person forever, but that's what I would advise.

Don't' show this video to your parents.

Don't blame me when you decide to do that.

But that's what I would do.

It doesn't mean you have to do that.

There are other ways, but that's what I would do.

One final part, I'll say, one other part of me says, "Man, you know what, maybe you should

have just skipped the programming thing altogether and just went into personal development and

life coaching."

Of course, there's a problem with that which is that there's a lot of 19-year-olds that

are doing life coaching and personal development type of coaching and they don't have any life

experience or wisdom because they haven't gone through anything in life.

You can't really just start there.

You've got to do something else successfully first so that, again, I think programming

was something that allowed me to go down this path.

Perhaps I would have started doing the entrepreneurial thing earlier and that would have been better.

It is what it is.

Maybe also—I did acting and modelling a long, long time ago when I first started out.

maybe I could have gone down that path because I enjoy performance, because I enjoy doing

video, because I enjoy that kind of thing, interacting with an audience and that kind

of performance type of thing.

I don't know.

I don't know if I would do things this early differently.

The path that I went on took me to where I am now.

I don't think that there's another way to get here.

Just something to think about for you if you're thinking about the path that you want to go,

maybe consider some of the things that I said here.

If you want to be an entrepreneur just start right away is what I would say.

Ultimately, I think that, like I said, I probably would have become a programmer at some point.

I was kind of destined, I think, to go into some kind of performance, some kind of coaching,

mentoring.

There's one other thing I'll point you to which is I did a video on finding your purpose

in life.

In that video, I talk about my purpose in life and when I found it and what I realized

was that no matter what I was doing, I would always be learning as much as possible, simplifying

it and enthusiastically sharing it with other people teaching.

That's what I would do no matter what.

That is what I did when I was a software developer.

That's what I do now with my business, with Simple Programmer.

In 10 years, in 20 years, whatever I'm doing I'll be doing that, I' guarantee you that.

That I know and to me, it doesn't matter what I'm doing, it's how I'm doing it.

If I was a programmer or I was a mechanical engineer or a construction worker, the fact

that I was living my purpose of what I just said, that would be the most important thing

to me, not the other stuff.

There you go.

That's my answer to the question.

Hopefully you found it helpful.

If you did, click that Subscribe button below and I will talk to you next time.

Take care.

Stream Deck: Unboxing, Intro, and Setup - Review of Elgato Stream Deck - Duration: 9:16.

The Elgato Stream Deck is the newest piece of hardware coming out of Elgato.

Elgato -- more famous and well-known for their capture cards -- the Stream Deck is a amateur targeted

control board for live streamers.

So you get all kinds of push-button actions available right here from the tip of your fingers.

So there's not much to the Stream Deck as far as this goes. We got a

two basic parts you've got the stand, a plastic stand that the Stream Deck sits on, and you've got the Stream Deck itself.

So the stream Deck itself weighs about 6 ounces;

USB controllable;

configurable device; 15 push buttons each of which has an LCD screen underneath it.

Connects via a usb to your device and of course the stand that it sits on; so this is designed to sit on your desk while you're

streaming; pops out and has multiple angles so you can set it up however you want.

Sits right there and is going to provide you a great push button experience for configuring things, so the Stream Deck is

different than just getting a macro keyboard because you've got super easy to configure and use

push buttons for all of your streaming actions.

They've got integrated support with obs for easy drag-and-drop as well as support for other services from Twitter to

Twitch, and everything else like that they've also got actions for running applications or opening website urls

So if you've got a website they can do an action for you, you can hit that up as well

So you can imagine using If This Then That or other things like that. This Elgato was given to me

As part of developing for it, so I'm currently working on support in Livestream Alerts for some Stream Deck actions.

But yes, this is the device I'm looking forward to testing it out and trying it out.

I think Elgato has really kind of hit the niche here pretty well, because they're creating something which is very easy to configure

You know drag and drop and and very very user-friendly

And is you know a good price point for for something like this.

You know so each of these can be configured as you can see here with different, you know, icons and everything else like that.

It's going to make it really easy to use so that you can just at a glance tell what you're doing and everything else like that.

In addition to the 15 buttons you've got from the Elgato Stream Deck you can also

configure any of these to be a folder of additional actions.

So this gives you up to 225 actions on this device that you can get access to. an absolutely killer

control board for anyone doing amateur live-streaming.

So we first plug in the Elgato Stream Deck it gives you this very crisp clean Elgato logo that's sitting on your display.

And then once you download the Stream Deck software and install it you get a set of icons so you can see here that by

default it comes with a set of icons for turning the mic on and off for opening a welcome page

etc. etc.

So each of these icons has a different configurable action you can add folders you can add everything else like that

to be able to easily configure

Everything you want to control about your live stream.

By default of course the Stream Deck software uses setup targeted at Game Capture

Game Capture is Elgato's streaming software

So a lot of these buttons here are based around Game Capture and of course at the bottom

We've got these buttons that are purple although

You can't see it on the camera down here which are for Twitch actions since I am not a Twitch user

And I'm not a Game Capture user. We're going to have to pretty much start from scratch

So we're just going to delete pretty much all this... delete

boom-boom-boom

And we'll just start out by clearing out this first row

*mumble* So this is tweeting,

Stream, Record, so these are buttons that we can replicate within OBS,

Take a screenshot

And we don't like these these purple icons it's not that's not really our jam as YouTube users.

So we'll get rid of those as well. This is a folder for volume and

And multimedia controls, so you can see here

I can either double click in the UI on the desktop or I can of course hit these buttons.

And you can see here the use of the you know touch buttons for folders, so this is an example of a folder

We don't need the welcome to Stream Deck button; we will go ahead and setup a tweet: Hello

Tweet test. Alright, so we will

Go ahead and add an account

From Twitter there we go

so we will log in

All right, so now I've got the crschmidt account;

I can drop out here, and I can say this is a test tweet from the Elgato

Stream Deck

Now, theoretically

Every 12 hours when I hit this button. I am going to tweet something

so we'll go ahead and pull up pull up my Twitter profile over here and open that on up and

so um

Here we go. We're going to hit the button

and

It did do it there we go. This is a test tweet from the elgato stream deck

We can see it there so we do know that our tweeting button actually works

It gives us the little green icon when the tweet has been sent out. Great.

The other thing of course that we want to do is be able to configure OBS. OBS has buttons for

enabling and disabling scenes, so we can drop those here

And in my scene collection, which is called four by three, I can enable all these different kinds of scenes

for [visor]

So this button should now [4x3]

And that shows up in the little icon there so I can see that is clearly labeled

You can't see it super clearly in the icon here, but when I hit this button now

My scene changes to a scene that you know you might recognize if you've ever seen me stream

And I can add another button. Well here. We go. We go back here

And we will add another scene button

and

This time it's going to be scene 2 which is the one I'm currently using for this recording

So we'll just call this [2] for now

And so now I can hit the button

[and] I can swap back by just pushing another button if we're already on the scene obviously it doesn't change so that's great

So we've got a tweet sent out. We've got

sources sent out.

Another thing of course is that if you're looking at this

And you're like me you see these twitch chat messages, and other things like that. Now, I'm not a Twitch user

But I am a YouTube user and so you know I as a YouTube user, I would like to be able to send YouTube messages.

So I actually can do that using Livestream Alerts. So Livestream Alerts I'm developing a new option called

Actions. Actions will allow you to do things

And so one of the things I've got two actions that have been built so far one is to

Have a Youtube chat message sent and the other one is to repeat your last alert

So you can actually see I've got these here. I come to the actions page, and I can copy this link

Come over into the Elgato software,

And I can add a website, so take this website, and this is alert

I'm going to put this here and this new option here called access and background

Access in background is going to give you the ability to open this URL and not ever see anything that happened from it

So you don't have to have your browser pop out or anything else like that

So if you're like me, and you want to hit this button as you're streaming you do this and as I push this button

we should see an alert pop-up from live stream alerts and

Live stream alerts will generate a new alert there. We go my last subscriber Zoltan Halassi gets his alerts shown again.

So that's pretty cool; the other thing as I said is you can send a YouTube chat message;

So I can send a chat message in this case of "This was a Triumph".

We'll call this triumph

again open in background

We can go ahead and pull up my live chat and so any scheduled or upcoming Live Stream

Or active live stream is going to receive this message

So if you've got multiple streams going on it's going to go to all of them. So we just tap this button here

There you go

so with the Livestream Alerts support

We can build actions like repeating an alert or sending chat messages to YouTube

You've got easy control over sources and scenes in OBS; you've got actions to open websites or control different things and

Stream Deck and Elgato is going to just keep adding more options here.

So this access in background option is a one that they added after I sent an email to them shortly after the Stream Deck launched

super excited with how quick

They were able to turn around and turn that around and I'm looking forward to more awesome things from them

So thanks very much to Elgato for sending me the Stream Deck

And thanks very much to you know all the people who put this together. It seems like a great product.

I'm really looking forward to using it and you know making some of my transitions a little bit smoother a little bit nicer

Using this great Stream Deck. Thanks a lot. Have a good one!

Junk Gypsy Headquarters Tour - HGTV - Duration: 2:07.

[theme music]

I know you don't consider yourself Round Top royalty,

but I think to everybody else, you are.

So we couldn't think of who else to come to when we

wanted to learn all about it.

But first, I want you guys to tell

us a little bit about your setup here, because it is incredible.

Well, we started in 1998 doing flea markets.

And the first time we ever came down

here was about the year 2000.

So we had this big, crazy tent, like a circus tent, with you

know, chandeliers, and glitter, and everything you

could imagine under the sun.

And after doing that for how ever many years, fifteen or so.

Well, we were burning up the roads doing all kinds of shows

and doing this one.

And then we finally wanted to find a home for Junk Gypsy

to have a real-- - We want--

A real store.

Our Gypsy souls needed to put down some roots.

And so we came to Round Top.

So there was really no place for us

to go other than to come right back here to where it all

started and put our store here.

Well, and I mean, it could not be more beautiful.

Thank you.

But you guys have been doing this for almost 20 years.

I know.

So how have you seen-- how have you seen the show evolve?

It has evolved so much.

It really has changed.

I mean, in the beginning, junk wasn't even such a nice word.

But we always knew we didn't have fine antiques.

We had junk, we were OK with that.

You know, if we liked it, if it made us happy, that was OK.

Well, how about you guys show me

around your store a little bit, and then maybe

we go hit some of the tents.

- OK. - Perfect.

Sounds good.

All right, y'all come on in.

All right, after you.

You have to go first.

So this is now our store.

We've put down roots.

The Gypsies put down roots.

This is amazing.

Thank you.

And you said everything is reclaimed.

Everything in here is-- Most of it in here, yeah.

--reclaimed from old farmhouses

here in Fayette County. - Incredible.

And most of the stuff that like we built the building

with, we actually bought during the Texas antiques week

and just saved it for the past few years.

Right. the business started for our love,

with our love for junk. - Sure.

And so our thing was that we wanted

the store to stay true to that.

So what we've done is we do have new stuff,

but we really try to mix in all the old stuff too.

Whatever it takes.

Lots of fringe, lot's of glitter.

Whatever it takes.

You know how some people say less is more?

No, more is more is more.

We have problems with that.

The BEST Budget 4K Camera! $500 STEAL - Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 Review (G7 Review) - Duration: 10:03.

It seems like every few months, a new camera is breaking down barriers in terms of resolution

and frame rate.

While it's fun and all for us to drool over the Red Epic Weapon 8K, it's not realistic

for your budget YouTuber.

It's certainly not a realistic purchase for me any time soon.

What I did end up with, however, is what I believe to be the best budget camera if you

want to shoot 4K video: The Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7.

Or just the "G7" for short.

This lightweight little body packs a lot of value for the price, especially compared to

other starting options from the competitors.

ARE YOU TIRED OF YOUR STREAMS OR VOICE CHAT SOUNDING LIKE THIS?

Do you want the comfort and quality of high-end headphones without sacrificing microphone

quality?

Antlion's ModMic 5 is the perfect solution.

Their dual-capsule microphone attaches easily and securely to your existing headphones and

fits within any setup thanks to the modular cable system.

It comes with a cable wrap to protect your wires, includes an optional inline mute module

and sounds a little something like this.

Check it out via the link in the description below.

I'm EposVox, here to make tech easier and more fun here today with a camera review.

For context, in 2012 I spent about $800 on my Canon EOS Rebel T3i body and kit lens.

I was new to the camera scene, didn't know how great the used market was, and saw this

as a great beginner's option.

It was, and it served me well for the past 5 years.

But this past November I spent a mere $500 on my G7 on a Cyber Monday deal and got a

much better camera - at least when it comes to video.

The G7 is generally around 600 to 700 dollars not on sale, which is still a great price

to pick it up at.

Or you can pick up a decent used deal from all of those who just upgraded to the GH5.

The Panasonic G7 is a small mirrorless camera capable of shooting 4K video.

It takes decent photos, too - but I honestly still prefer my T3i or my Minolta 35mm camera

for stills, so this will be a mostly video-focused review.

The body is lightweight and compact.

This makes it great for packing on the go and taking it with you, but the lightweight

nature of it can actually add a lot of instability to your shots.

It's a lot easier to keep my heavy T3i stable than the G7 just due to weight alone.

The screen fully articulates and flips out for self-shooting, which is very important

and something I just find hilarious when more expensive cameras don't include this.

*Cough* Sony *cough*.

The screen is also a touch screen which adds to the overall navigational pleasure of this

camera.

There are 4 knobs and quite a few function buttons on this camera.

Most of the buttons are assignable to whatever functions you want.

This, combined with the touch screen and quick functions menu on it make any important setting

just a tap away.

I love it.

Way easier to control than my T3i.

I do have a couple nit-picky complaints about the physical form factor.

Firstly, the camera strap hooks are these keychain-like triangles on each side of the

camera, which flap around and make obnoxious sounds when you move the camera.

I would have much preferred embedded hooks like my T3i - but I guess I might have to

take the Neistat approach to these.

Also, the SD card slot is next to the battery on the bottom of the camera.

This isn't inherently bad, but can be ridiculously inconvenient to remove or swap SD cards when

the camera is mounted on a tripod or rig.

This is probably just a manufacturing flaw with my unit, but the camera mode knob seems

to be glitchy.

I primarily keep it in video mode, but sometimes it'll sit there switching between video

mode and a photo mode back and forth until I power cycle it or rotate the knob a few

times to lock it back into place.

I guess it's possible the switch that detects the mode selection is a little loose.

Lastly, the microphone input jack is randomly thrown on the opposite side of the rest of

the camera's IO.

Why?

I mentioned the battery slot cover - it's easy to use and doesn't turn off the camera

like my T3i.

Good to go there.

I use two of the Lumix BLC12PP 1200mAh batteries with a Watson dual charger.

With this combo, there has never been a situation where I've been unable to shoot with the

camera.

Even when constantly shooting 4K video, the batteries last a crazy long amount of time.

That was one of the first things I was blown away by - the batteries just last so long.

Under a secure flap, the G7 features a remote shutter jack, micro HDMI for 4:2:2 video out,

as well as a AV Out and Digital out port, along with the microphone jack over on the

left.

This isn't a perfect setup - you can't record in-camera while previewing via HDMI,

which rules out using an external monitor unless it's also a dedicated recorder, too.

Also, there's no turning off Auto Gain Control on the microphone jack, and it sounds pretty

compressed when I try using it.

Dual system sound all the way for me!

The video quality is, well, obviously quite nice.

It records standard UHD 3840x2160 at 24 or 30 frames per second - no DCI 4096x2160, though.

It also records 1080p at 60 FPS, which is nice.

There is an extra crop applied when shooting 4K.

This isn't something I think about much since I almost exclusively shoot 4K with this

camera, but the couple times I did need to shoot 1080p60 I was thrown off by the extra

width.

It records at 100 megabits per second, a pretty nice bitrate.

I use a Lexar 128GB 633x UHS-1 SDXC card to shoot on daily.

It's big enough to support all the shots I need, and fast enough to keep up with the

4K needs.

You can only record up to about 30 minutes without manually stopping and starting due

to the legal nonsense.

It splits the files up every 4GB or so - which wouldn't be a problem, but then when I sync

the files up to my externally-recorded audio track, there's always a black frame or two

where it stops and starts recording.

Very frustrating.

The menus are fairly easy to navigate, customize, and use.

I LOVE Panasonic's system.

There is some confusion with the autofocus system, though.

You have a switch to switch between manual focus, continuous autofocus, and autofocus

set or autofocus face.

BUT there's a menu option for "Continuous Autofocus" too.

This seems to affect both the AFS AFF mode and the AFC mode.

So I keep having to toggle that or else my AFF recordings of my face keep pulsing autofocus

and if I leave it off, AFC mode doesn't continuously autofocus.

So what's the point of having the switch??

This has lead to a lot of issues with my self-shot videos.

Very frustrating.

Overall, the autofocus isn't the fastest or the best, but leagues better than my T3i,

so I'm happy with it.

Also, this camera has WiFi!

I've not used much WiFi features in a camera, but using Panasonic's Image App on my phone

to focus on myself and quickly adjust settings for my a-roll shooting is quite handy, and

much better than the USB adapter tablet setup I needed for my T3i.

LOVE it.

The camera is a Micro Four Thirds mount and sensor, of course.

My only two native Micro Four Thirds lenses are the kit lens that came with the G7 and

a Rokinon T2.2 12mm cine lens I picked up when I got the camera.

The included 14-42mm kit lens is actually quite impressive for a cheap kit lens.

The cine lens is amazing when I need a wide aperture or wide field of view.

Since it's a micro four thirds mirrorless, adapting lenses to the camera is a super easy

and awesome experience.

I've picked up a lot of vintage film lenses for the camera.

I've got my Helios 44-2 58mm swirly bokeh lens, a beautiful Nikon Nikkor 35mm F/2 lens,

a nice Olympus 50mm, and then I picked up a Roxsen speedbooster for my Canon 28mm lens.

I've just recently ordered a couple more speedboosters - for my Helios and the Nikon

- too, but they won't arrive from overseas for another month or so.

I'm excited to reclaim my swirly bokeh.

Low light performance is actually one of the huge benefits I've gotten from the G7, which

may sound confusing since most reviewers and photogs would probably say mirrorless cameras

are generally not great in low light.

That may be true, but my T3i was incredibly noisy at almost all ISOs and couldn't handle

low light well at all, so getting the G7 right as I was building my new studio has really

opened the doors for my creativity, and I honestly feel my content has pivoted in a

much better direction as a result.

Gear may not "matter," but getting the right gear and studio upgrades when you've

pushed the limits of what you could do before does make a difference.

All of this video stuff aside, I honestly prefer the shots and shooting experience of

still images on my T3i.

So my T3i and Minolta 35mm will be my main stills bodies for now.

It does annoy me that I can't take photos in video mode like my T3i, and that Auto mode

shots don't save to RAW.

But that's about all I have to say about stills.

But for video, just about everything looks great on this camera, and I've had a blast

shooting on it over the past 6 months.

This camera has really turned things around for my content, and I'm grateful for that

Cyber Monday sale.

I still drool over the GH5 and would do… a lot… to get my hands on one, but I'm

happy with my little G7 for now.

This is my first formal camera review.

I think it went pretty well, what about you?
