Monster Hunter gets a huge upgrade! E3 2017 Sony - Duration: 5:49.

Monster Hunter

I've had a love hate relationship with series up until Monster Hunter 4.

That's when I fell absolutely in love with everything about the game except for one small

aspect.

I hated that it was confined to the pixelated small screen and awkward controls that the

3ds had to offer.

Don't get me wrong.

I love Monster Hunter 4 and generations for the 3ds and never complained about those two

elements, but it was always in the back of my mind.

What if they made this game from ground up for a current gen home consoles?

Now they have!

During Sony's e3 show I was watching the trailer and thinking, "this would make a

great Monster Hunter game."

but only sighed because I never thought Capcom would do it.

I didn't think Capcom would branch away from their comfortable niche with Nintendo.

I was waiting for the next game to be announced for the Switch and let graphical limitations

hold it back once more.

Once I seen the dragon, I think gravios, sorry it's been awhile.

But once I saw it I knew it had to be.

Hope filled within me and I stifled a shout as the text "capcom" came up.

I knew enough.

I knew enough that it didn't matter what Sony had left to show, I was hooked.

This series is my favorite of all game franchises.

I love Dark Souls.

I love Super Mario.

I love Diablo.

I love a lot of franchises very much, but nothing.

I repeat nothing compares to Monster Hunter for me.

The grinding never gets old.

The hunts are always exciting no matter how many times you've hunted the same beast

for those desired parts.

I love the gathering of materials and the upgrading of the shop so that you can spend

more time on higher end items and hunts.

Everything is amazing!

I love the goofy nature that lies behind the serious looking aesthetics of the series.

I love the danger behind every mission.

These games are designed for gamers exactly like me!

This is my call of duty.

This is my Madden.

My Fifa.

My Farcry.

My Fallout.

My Elder Scrolls.

I can't even attempt to hide the excitement that I have over this announcement.

Looking a bit further into it I see that it's coming out for Xbox one also with a later

port heading to PC so that more people can join the hunt.

If you've never played a Monster Hunter game before then know this.

They perfect for players who like the grind, but they are very difficult.

You have to practice your weapon of choice to mastery or you will die a lot.

Missions can last up to almost an hour and if you haven't planned your hunt accordingly

it can take that long or sometimes to the unfortunate player, more.

And once it goes over the time limit the mission is failed and you return empty handed never

to get that hour back.

I've never been angrier at a game than I was at the third Monster Hunter when I spent

an entire mission timer hunting one low tier monster before the time ran out, leaving me

staring holes into my tv screen.

It was enough to cause me to rage quit and vow to never pick a copy of the series up

again.

Of course I broke that vow and am so happy that I did.

The gratification that I receive from hunting multiple beasts to acquire parts in order

to build a mixed set of armor perfect for my playstyle is unmatched by any other game.

That first hunt once I've dawned on my new armor and feeling the difference as I place

punishment on the next monster that was too difficult for me to beat previously is glorious.

Monsters have no health bar but instead show damage through animations and appearance.

They become frightened that they are losing to tiny humans and go into a rage, becoming

more dangerous.

Once they exhaust themselves they will attempt to flee and eat or rest to regain health and

stamina just like you.

They have to follow by the same rules.

You can lay down cunning traps to capture them alive in a chance for more parts after

the mission or flat out kill them and carve your needed parts right off of their bodies.

If an aspect of a fight is bothering you then you have options there as well.

A gland keeps stacking poison on you?

Break it off.

A flashing bulb keeps blinding you?

Break it.

Horns, tails whatever.

You can cut break or rip it right off to eliminate that problem for the remainder of the fight..

I have never had my heart pounding from a game so hard than when I'm after a monster

for the first time that I don't know anything about.

Not knowing what tricks it has up its sleeve and having the power to take me out in just

a few hits is an exhilarating and terrifying event to be sure.

Each monster has it's own bad ass theme music too.

All except for Khezu.

That blind beast is an eerie fight with no music and its ability to climb on ice ceilings

to hide and wait to drop down on you is enough for me to want to finish the fight as soon

as possible.

I love this franchise so much that I bought Toukiden 2 the day it came out and played

it damn near non-stop until there was nothing left to really do just to attempt to fill

that missing niche with something even remotely similar.

I could continue for hours about this franchise, but would end up rambling back and forth on

elements that I remember on the spot so I'm going to leave it with this one message.

Monster Hunter is difficult in all the right ways.

It's fun, it's exciting, it's frightening at times, and it's so very rewarding.

The community is one of the best I've ever experienced, right next to Dark Souls and

can't wait to experience it again.

I'm for sure going to be playing this on my channel as soon as it's released so if

you don't want to miss out on that then hit that subscribe button and if you like

Monster Hunter or have gained a newly rising interest in the series then smash that like

button before going over to Gaijin Hunter where he can explain all there is to know

about the series.

I'll leave you with one question.

What's the one element that you want them to bring back from an existing Monster Hunter

game or what element would you want them to leave out?
