Waching daily Jun 14 2017

Hey, everyone! So it has been a minute, and I figured what better way to come back

than a tag video!

At least a video in which, you know, I talk at the camera 'cause

you just saw "Bold." Hopefully.

If everything goes as I plan for it to go.

So this is the VidCon small creator tag, and um as a small creator who's going to

VidCon, I figured this is perfect for me!

So I saw Kathy Trithardt's video, and it

was awesome and I figured I should do this too, even though I wasn't tagged,

'cause I never tagged in things... Okay Question One:

Introduce yourself! So hi, my name is Nirali, aka

firewordsparkler on the interwebs. I am 22 years old and um still in school but

very close to graduating. And I'm gonna be at VidCon, and I'm gonna be at the

Less Than Famous panel, which you already know because there's no reason for you

to click on this video if uh you weren't already subscribed to me. So yeah.

That was self-deprecating.

Question 2: Why are you going to VidCon? The Less Than Famous

panel, of course! I'm super excited to be on the Less Than Famous panel with so

many lovely people. And yeah, I auditioned I got on it and I was like Yes Yes Yes

I'm going yes yes. I don't care at that I have to miss class. I'm going. I'm going.

This is happening. uh yeah I'm super excited.

Question three - wow I'm

answering these questions before they're asked - What are you most excited for

about VidCon? um I am obviously most excited for the

Less Than Famous panel, and meeting my fellow panelists in real life for the

first time, but also meeting any of you who are going! I really want to hang out

with like Yolanda and Paul Roth and Kathy and everyone else who's

around. um There are so many people that I'm going to be meeting for the first

time because it's my first ever Vidcon and I am just beyond excited and if you

want to hit me up for a collab because I'm trying to plan collabs now, use this

email address and let me know let's do collabs let's collaborate even

though I use my cell phone as a camera. Small youtuber problems. Yeah, I'll also

have my GoPro it's fine. It's fine.

Number four what are you the least excited about at

VidCon? My homework. I still have homework to do at VidCon so I'll be

taking my laptop with me and if you see me on the side working on a paper don't

interrupt? Or maybe do interrupt because I might

need a break. But yeah, I have to do homework because I'm still in classes

but other than that I'm just - I - I get overwhelmed pretty easily, especially

since I'm gonna be going by myself and just meeting everyone there, so

hopefully I won't get too overwhelmed, fingers crossed, but I might uh and I may

need a couple minutes to myself but you know. That's - I feel like everyone feels a

little bit that way that's why we talk at a camera on the internet instead of

interacting like normal human beings, right?

What are you bringing to VidCon

parenthesis think unique things. um well I'll be bringing myself. If you didn't

know, Nirali means unique so automatically. (points to self) I'm still not sure yet

because I still haven't - I haven't started packing or anything but I'm

thinking of creating something because there's an Art Assignment Facebook group

that I'm a part of and some people are planning on meeting at VidCon and

bringing stuff that they've created, so I might bring a creation of some kind. And

I'm thinking if I have time again, I'm going to be making many motivational

posters to pass out, so let me know what your favorite quotes are in the

description so I can make many motivational posters and to motivate

people during VidCon yeah. There's still a little bit of time before VidCon. I have

time to do everything I want to do, right? I didn't over book myself?

um okay so Number Six: If VidCon would let you create a panel/event what

would it be and who would be a part of it? So I would want to make a panel about

literature in video, and book adaptations and such because there are so many

literary webseries out there as I hope you know if you're watching me. And at

Nerdcon: Nerdfighteria, Bernie Su did a great talk on kind of how the Lizzie

Bennet Diaries came to be, and the planning process that went behind that

and everything. So I would probably want like Bernie Su, Yolanda from the

Pemberley Podcast, and a bunch of other literary webseries people probably. I

can't think of any names off the top of my head but if I come up with anything

they will be right here. The list, hopefully. Can you read it? Okay, uh so

those are the people I would want to uh talk about literary webseries

stuff and not just literary webseries just like kind of literary adaptations

in general and like the difference between like why a webseries works so

well in certain cases and cases where it doesn't and cases where you need a

higher production value then you kind of have when you're working on a low-budget

webseries and stuff like that. Just like, things. Oh, I also want to make a literary

webseries *shh* but um I don't have the means right now, and the experience or any of

that so I really want to learn more about that whole thing. But yeah, that

would be..If there was a literary webseries panel sort of thing, that would

be super cool I would love that. um so hey Valerie Barr, if if you want to

make that a thing, let me know! I would totally moderate that! And, number seven:

what would my ideal day at VidCon look like? Me, attending everything I want to

attend while also meeting and spending quality time with everyone I want to

spend quality time with and also having time to eat and also

spending some time in the Sun instead of in that large air-conditioned convention

center. um yeah So, my ideal day would be getting everywhere I want to be in terms

of panels, meeting everyone I want to meet and actually hanging out with them,

eating, and Sun. yeah. I have a feeling I'm only going to be able to

pick two of those things out of those four, but let's see. We'll see, we'll see!

um yeah it's like that triangle of college students that's like "studying,

social life, and sleep: pick two" I feel like I'm gonna have to pick two and I'm not

willing to, 'cause I like promising myself that I'm gonna do everything I want to

even though I don't have the capacity to. But I do have the capacity to attend

VidCon, which I'm doing finally it's gonna be my first ever Vidcon, and I am

beyond excited and if you are there let me know, hit me up, email me, leave a

comment down below um and just tell me things about yourself, and if you want to

collab please let me know because I want to collab like crazy. Maybe not like

crazy, but like I want to collab a little bit, and I want to - want to make videos

people that I've been watching forever, and yeah, and also new people. I want to

meet new people. That's a thing I want to do, even though it kind of gives me

anxiety. I really want to meet new people.

Okay so, the final thing, of course, is to

tag my friends! So. I'm tagging everyone else on the Less Than Famous panel,

who will all be right here, listed right here.

So do it, you people.

uh thank you all so much for watching

um again let me know if you're going to VidCon, let me know if I'll see you there,

uh cuz I'm currently building up my agenda and things I want to do and the

places on ago I'm trying to schedule everything in. so yeah

um and I will see you guys next time with a new video. Bye!

Sidenote, look how awesome this green lipstick looks. Like why have I avoided wearing it

on camera before? Why? If you want to know why I watched my previous video, Bold!

If You Experience ANY Of These 3 Signs After Meeting Someone, Yo - Duration: 4:22.

If You Experience ANY Of These 3 Signs After Meeting Someone, Youve Known Them In A

Past Life

Our souls live on forever.

They exist beyond space and time and interacts with others souls.

Even though we do not remember who we were in our past life and what we lived through,

the soul has the ability to store some information in our unconscious part of the mind.

As said before, most of us do not remember the memories from our previous lives, but

there are some expectations.

There have been stories and documentaries made about people (and small kids), who can

describe a house or a place in detail, but have never ever actually been there.

This shows that they remember some of their memories from the past lives.

Although the memories of the past lives are hidden away in the unconsciousness, some places,

situations or souls can trigger them to make you remember a glimpse of it.

So if you feel any of these 3 reactions, when meeting someone new, their soul probably is

not new to you:

INSTANT CONNECTION OR REPULSIVENESS

This feeling can be quite confusing, because you think you do not know this person.

But suddenly you feel a powerful connection or a feeling.

This can mean they once were very close to you maybe your family members, friends

or even lovers.

If you feel immediately sad or angry, this might mean that their souls have hurt yours

in some way and this new meeting is supposed to give peace to you both.

YOUR CONNECTION IS TELEPATHIC

This can be even more confusing and having a telepathic connection does not mean talking

to each other only with your thoughts.

It means that you just want to say something and they say it exactly in the same time.

Or you think about them and suddenly you receive a text message.

This connection is hard to explain logically, but it cannot be dismissed also.

Your souls feel comfortable and safe around each other, because probably you have shared

some intimate memories and got to know each other well.

YOU SEE IT IN THEIR EYES

Their eyes are almost hypnotizing and feel so so familiar to you like you have looked

into them a million times before.

There is a saying that eyes are the mirrors of the soul and some people believe that soul

carries the eyes with them when entering different bodies.

Every person has unique iris patterns in their eyes and thats why when you meet someone

familiar, you just know.

Nobody is born as a blank page, because our spirits have the information from the previous

lives.

Thats necessary for the souls to grow and evolve.

But this also means that we all might have some unresolved issues or bad karma following

us from the past.

If you think that life throws good and bad things to your way without any reason, you

might be wrong.

It may be a punishment or a praise for things your soul did before.

New World Order Plot To Kill Brexit Exposed By Senior MP - politics - Duration: 1:33.

New World Order Plot To Kill Brexit Exposed By Senior MP

A New World Order plot to stop Brexit and sabotage attempts by Britain to exit the EU

has been exposed by a senior MP.

Tory and Labour MPs are meeting up in secret in order to thwart and reverse Brexit plans,

according to a new report.

Westmonster.com reports: They want Theresa May to make concessions with the customs union,

immigration and the single market.

Apparently they want to set up a cross party Brexit Commission to find common ground between

the parties.

Scottish Tory boss Ruth Davidson even broke ranks and said: This isnt going to be

a Tory Brexit.

A senior, unnamed minister is quoted as having told the Standard: This is no longer a

question just for Government.

It is clear to me that Parliament will want to assert its role in a way it did not before.

Theres one obvious bit of common ground, though Britain voted to leave the EU,

why dont they start working towards that?

For some MPs, Brexit clearly doesnt mean Brexit.

Easy Rainbow Chocolate Brownies to Celebrate Pride Month - Duration: 1:23.

This chocolate brownie cloud topped with a chewy rainbow will definitely add a little

sunshine to your day.

Hi, I'm Theresa Chong and welcome to Chewable Structures.

Today, we're using Betty Crocker's brownie mix and this little cookie cutter in the shape

of a cloud.

It's super cute.

I'm going to put links to all the things we're using today in the description box

below.

So, let's start building.

When you bake the brownies, make sure to line your pan with parchment paper and spray it

with oil.

After it cools, use the cookie cutter to shape the cloud.

It should stand up like this.

I'm using a 9-inch by 13-inch pan.

This makes 8 cloud-shaped brownies.

To make the buttercream frosting, you'll need 1 cup of butter at room temperature.

Add 2 cups of icing sugar and after it's all mixed together, add 1 tsp of vanilla extract.

I'm using a toothpick to add a little bit of Wilton's sky blue icing gel, because

is really concentrated.

Mix it all together.

Then, add the frosting to an icing bag with a No. 129 flower-icing tip.

Now, cut the Airheads rainbow in half.

I'm dipping it in a little bit of the icing so that I can make an outline on the brownie.

Pipe the icing and add the rainbow.

Thanks for building with me today.

Remember to subscribe to my channel and check out these other videos of chewable structures

that you can make at home.

See you next week!

History of Hong Kong - Duration: 5:26.

Throughout modern history, world powers have repeatedly fought over this strategically

valuable land.

It's name means "fragrant harbor" in Chinese, but it could also mean "City of

Change."

This is the story of Hong Kong.

The first wave of people to arrive in large numbers had fled Genghis Kahn and his brutal

Mongol hordes.

They chose Hong Kong because of its advantageous geography.

150 million years ago, volcanic eruptions formed a deep, but narrow harbor with an island

on the other side.

This orientation protected ships from storms and allowed vessels to come and go quickly

from either side.

With 230 islands, the region was the perfect hangout for pirates.

One of the most successful in history was Madame Ching who - alongside her husband - commanded

80,000 buccaneers and a fleet of 800 ships.

In the early 1800's British merchants found Hong Kong the perfect port to unload the opium

they had brought from India.

With addiction rampant, the Chinese government cracked down.

British-controlled warehouses at Canton were raided, 20,000 chests of opium were destroyed,

and the entrance to the Pearl River was blocked.

The British responded forcefully and destroyed the blockade, occupied the island of Hong

Kong, and sent their fleet up the Pearl River to intimidate the Daoguang Emperor.

When negotiations failed, they attacked and occupied Canton.

After a year of war throughout China, the British captured Nanjing and extracted favorable

peace terms.

To get them to leave, China paid a large sum, surrendered control of Hong Kong, and allowed

foreign access to other harbors including Shanghai, which is now the world's busiest

port.

Back in Hong Kong, Christian missionaries started schools and churches to spread Jesus.

But slinging religion and drugs wasn't enough for the British, they wanted to make more

money.

Meanwhile, back on the mainland, a man named Hong Xiuquan was having visions that he was

the younger brother of Jesus.

He gained a huge following of peasants and launched a long and bloody rebellion against

the Qing dynasty.

With China engulfed in civil war, the British had their opening.

This time they teamed up with the French to invade the mainland, sack Beijing, and burn

down the emperor's summer palace.

They used this victory to negotiate control of the Kowloon Peninsula, giving the British

both sides of Hong Kong's main waterway, now called Victoria Harbor.

A few years later the British extracted a 99-year lease of the surrounding islands.

As Hong Kong westernized — the differences between it and the rest of China grew.

One of widest divides was in education.

While studying at Hong Kong College of Medicine Sun Yat-sen and a group of friends plotted

their successful revolution to takedown the Chinese Empire.

Today, Sun is considered the Father of the Republic of China.

Fast-forward to 1941.

The same morning Japan attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor, it launched an assault

on Hong Kong, which the British surrendered after an 18-day battle.

For three years the Japanese violently ruled the territory under martial law.

Of the 1.6 million people who lived there when the invasion took place, more than one

million had fled or were deported by the time the Japanese were defeated to end the second

world war.

After Japan left, the British reestablished control.

Despite the decolonization happening in the rest of their empire, the British were determined

to keep Hong Kong even if it was just a skeleton of its former self.

China's civil war in 1949 helped turn that around.

The Communist Party's victory forced Shanghai's capitalist class to flee to Hong Kong.

This transformed it into a thriving manufacturing center.

But working conditions were poor and squatter camps grew out of control.

53,000 people were left homeless when a fire ripped through one of these shantytowns.

The housing shortage led to the embrace of the high rises that now define the Hong Kong

skyline.

When war broke out in Korea in 1950, the west blocked all trade with China.

With access cut off to mainland markets, Hong Kong's economy suffered a sharp downturn

that amplified social unrest.

To recover, Hong Kong's capitalists turned to high-tech electronics and finance.

In the 1970's and 80's, with Hong Kong finally thriving again, China demanded that

Britain hand over the entire territory in 1997 when the 99-year lease over the New Territories

was set to expire.

Wary of the Chinese, but eager to avoid a breakdown in relations, Britain agreed to

surrender the New Territories, the Kowloon Peninsula, and Hong Kong island itself, but

only after giving them a bill of rights and forcing China to agree to a "One Country,

Two Systems" policy.

This gave China control, but allowed Hong Kong and Macau, the other special administrative

region, to keep their capitalist economic and political systems for 50 years.

In the two decades since the handover, Hong Kong's economy has remained open and strong,

but China has begun to assert more control.

In 2014, massive demonstrations successfully blocked Beijing from implementing national

education in Hong Kong's schools, although protesters failed to pressure the central

government to allow them to directly elect their own Chief Executive.

Instead, Hong Kongers choose from a handful of candidates approved by Beijing.

As we move ever-closer to the date of full reunification with the rest of China in 2047,

many questions remain unanswered about Hong Kong's future.

Thanks for watching.

many they plan to build in the rest of the world.

Guessing Objects I Got In The Mail #3 - Duration: 20:10.

dear Tommy I'm sending you an item from

a personal collection of mine before you

find out what it is I want you to know

that it's clean and not a health hazard

it's time for another edition of guess

what's in the mail this is where you

guys send stuff in I open it and try and

guess what's inside let's get into it

here's the first one

[Music]

Tommy this is from Jessica hi Tommy you

make me so happy

Tom he's awfully furry he's nice

not much of a smell to him or her but I

feel like it's it's abyssal it's got a

tail on the back and a ribbon around the

neck

that couldn't be a dog because these

front are too short here and it

absolutely got feet but it's supposed to

sit up it's not a bird they don't sit

like this but is it a bunny rabbit that

is incorrect

I'll say a kitty cat that's wrong that's

wrong one more time I'm going to try

some completely different I'm gonna say

it to human that's incorrect

now huh what is he it's a teddy bear

that's a bear yeah I didn't think a bear

would sit up like this but this just me

I have a bear question dope bears use

four feet to get around yes it's a

stuffed animal their characters

Berenstein bears didn't walk around on

all fours they walk down to like human

oh okay okay so yeah this I didn't know

I just read the tag the tag is hanging

off it's here

what is it says Aurora baby

hi Tommy most sighted people don't even

know what this is but I think you'll

love it try to guess what it could

possibly be love Jackie Thank You Jackie

hi so it's it's a round thing it's got a

handle it has all these different sort

of like tentacles a motor I don't quite

know what you would call these things

but it feels like a whisk but it feels

like a very giant whisk some men's are

longer than others does it stand on its

own it kind of does but the handle I'm

going to say this is a whisk that's

incorrect

can I get my hint yeah please this can

make someone feel better this could make

someone feel better this like a massager

that's correct it's a scalp massage

that's a scalp massager Wow sure I guess

that okay Wow Jackie thank you very much

try it okay what do you do like this

yeah I don't want to mess up my hair or

anything but oh this is dynamite right

in the feel it's like someone scratching

my head it's fantastic all right let me

turn this over Wow

it's Braille this is big giant Braille

that's my name that's Tommy

EDI s om and down here it says

experiences the Tommy Edison experience

and that's why we so this is the Tommy

Edison experience in print down here on

the bottom so then what's in the middle

I'm feeling a triangle sort of a

triangle thing with a point coming walks

to the right a shorter point in the

center the center and the left are the

same length and the point on the right

is a little bit longer but I don't quite

know what this is is this the logo no

it so these are my two feet and this is

the cane that's right oh that's awesome

so the guy who made this he's called the

3d print general on YouTube and he has a

channel and he made a video where he

showed you how he made a bunch of stuff

and sent him out to different youtubers

including you we'll put a link for that

in the description Sean in San Diego

this is amazing thank you so much for

this

dear Tommy I wanted to send an item as a

token of my appreciation I hope you are

able to figure it out if you don't get

at first here are some clues that Ben

can give you it's two pieces there's one

stick and then there's one piece like

sort of comes off the stick it's very

soft to the touch it's almost like

there's some sort of material on it like

almost five and you know what it feels

like like it's almost like a key but

it's it's not I wore some clues it

didn't Robertson give me a key well like

like almost like a key for a door when

you said key I thought you meant

something else oh okay oh my god wait a

minute I know exactly what this is it's

a P it's a mallet from the inside of a

piano if you give up the answer is a

piano hammer what is nutty thing that's

great

I need 87 more in a bunch of strings

haha nice one Robert thank you so much

so you have felt the inside of a piano I

used to take the front of the piano when

I was a kid

check it out from bottom to top and just

try to figure out how it all worked

because I was fascinated we interrupt

this YouTube video for a special

announcement hey let me give a big THANK

YOU to audible who helped make this

video possible now they have a huge

library of audiobooks which you can

download and listen to any time and I

like it because it's a great alternative

to Braille it's a lot easier to listen

the book I just finished is called the

Gospel according to Chris Moyles now

he's a disc jockey from the UK that I've

been a fan of for quite a long time and

one of the things I learned from this

book is what a great Howard Stern fan he

was in fact he called himself the savior

radio one sort of after Howard it

started calling himself the king of all

media so if you want to try audible

maybe there's been an audiobook even

thinking about now is a good time

because you can get a 30 day trial and a

free audiobook just by going to

audible.com slash Tommy and if you have

any suggested for a book you think I

ought to check out let me know in the

comments

[Music]

so this package is from Kim loft in

Denmark hi Tommy I really enjoyed

watching your videos in your laugh and

smile spread happiness in my country and

many others I'm sure we have a

disability that translates directly into

quote unquote word blind I do not quite

know what the correct word is in English

so I thought I had to send you a little

package that has something to do with

blindness in a way Wow okay this has a

very rough texture it's very almost like

a rock or a stone this thing sticking

out of the top here it's kind of an

oblong shape I feel like maybe it's a

bird on a perch I don't why I say that

well I feel because there's two things

here at the bottom and it doesn't really

have a bird type of face but this is a

wild thing I'm not quite sure what this

is I'll guess I'll say I feel like it's

a bird perched on a rock that's

incorrect is not a bird here comes the

first clue the creator of his character

that the statue is derived from was also

word blind his name was Hans Christian

Andersen Hans Christian Andersen so oh

boy I don't know what my Hans Christian

answer the skater you're saying it's a

skater yeah that's incorrect

is there another Cleveland letter who

there is a clue but it's you know it's

from Denmark no I don't I have no idea

what this is but I really I like it I

like the texture of it a lot but I feel

like it's a person standing on a rock

what is a person sort of okay it's a

mini statue of the Little Mermaid The

Little Mermaid I don't know how is

Christian business it works I will

recommend you hear the original story

with her not Disney's Little Mermaid so

it's like a nude woman sitting on a

stone puts nothing in her hand I can't

quite see what that is yeah maybe

something to cover her up she doesn't

get arrested

hey there Tom and Ben I've had this

object since I was about 14 and now I'm

35 I no longer have any particular use

for it so when I saw the guest what's in

the mail challenge I immediately

wondered if you'd be able to figure out

what it is a loyal fan Ellen I feel like

you know what I feel like this is a

guitar I feel like this is a Duquette

yep this is absolutely I got a guitar or

bass or maybe a banjo there's only four

strings because there's tuning pegs on

either end perhaps a violin yeah I'm

going to say violin correct

it's a

: nice Ellen this is fantastic thank you

so much hey I know what this is this is

a physic u'b that's right

[Music]

he's the cable just like an iPhone

charger but it's not I feel like that

USB and I feel like that in his iPhone

but it's not like an official one but I

do I feel like this an iPhone charger

lightning to USB cable that's that's

that's iPhone yeah this is great yeah

you can't have too many of those can you

I feel like this is a vehicle of some

sort right it's got the four wheels it's

a low vehicle big giant windows in the

side big wheels - wow what the heck is

this but my finger fits into it

perfectly so what would that thing be

that goes along with it that you hold in

your hand the walkie talkie or something

- like a police car in this in the radio

I the wire hanging off of it Eliza's

little antenna so what would there P be

I'm like a walkie talkie a radio way

yeah no no what would it be

that's a remote a remote or this remote

control car oh and this is a remote oh

wow we our batteries included dear Tommy

I'm excited to see you opening my

How to Set Up a Zone Notification | Fleet Productivity - Duration: 3:51.

MyGeotab users have the option to create rules based on vehicles entering, exiting, or stopping

inside of zones This feature is useful for fleet managers who want to closely monitor

customer visits, be notified if a driver leaves a designated area, or if any vehicles drive

into a "do not enter" zone

Start by verifying that the area of interest has been added as a zone If the area is not

an existing zone, watch our "How to Add Zones in MyGeotab" video for more details

Ensure that the created zone is not overlapping with another

Next, navigate to "Rules and Groups", and select "Rules" Click the "Add"

button at the top of the screen Enter a descriptive name for the rule, the group to publish it

to, and any comments

Click on the conditions tab, and select "Add zone or zone type" Select the desired zone

type from the dropdown list Or select Zone and choose the zone name from

the drop down list Then select from the available events below

The events define where the vehicle must be in relation to the zone for the rule to trigger

an exception "entering" and "exiting" are instantaneous events, while "outside"

and "inside" provide the amount of time the vehicle spent inside or outside of the

zone "Stopped" requires that after entering the zone, the vehicle does not move for at

least 200 seconds or the ignition is turned off

To monitor when a vehicle is exiting its assigned territory, use "exiting" as the event

and click on the "Add" button

To monitor when a vehicle is in a restricted zone,

use either "Inside" or "entering" as the event, and click on the "add" button

When you have chosen the appropriate conditions for your rule, select the "Notifications"

tab To set up an email notification, click "add email" The "Default email template"

will display the vehicle name and device serial number, the rule broken, and the date and

time, or users can create a custom template and select it from the dropdown

Enter the e-mail address of the recipient or select existing user e-mails from the dropdown

below, then click the "Add" button To add more recipients, click on "add email"

again and repeat When finished, click the "Save" button (show only, do not save

yet)

Additionally, users have the option to create a pop-up notification To do this, while still

on the "Notifications" tab, click "add alert", and select "popup", "urgent

popup", or "log only" Choose a template, the user to receive the popup, and click "add"

Just like with notification emails, repeat the process to add additional recipients,

and save when complete

If an instant notification is not desired, the Customer Visits Report is used to provide

a list of each vehicle's interactions with zones and zone types To set up a Customer

Visits Report, watch our "How to Use the Customer Visits Report" video

You have successfully set up a zone notification

What students miss most about college. - Duration: 1:09.

The first day I came on campus I had already felt a sense of family and community so I

think that's probably going to be one of the biggest parts I miss.

So the thing I'm going to miss most about OSU is of course the amazing community that

I've been able to foster for these past four years.

I think the thing I'll miss most about Oregon State is the diversity and all the different

people from all different backgrounds and being able to ask questions and just tap that

knowledge base.

It's a really special thing.

The one thing I'm going to miss the most about OSU is the great sense of community we have

here on campus.

You know, it's hard as an individual to kind of go through the day to day struggles of

life and so having such a great support network is really crucial.

I mean the campus is beautiful but the family that I've really gotten to know here through

my sorority and through clubs and everything, I just feel like I found my place and that's

given me the oomph to go off and do my own thing.

Baseball Joe of the Silver Stars | Chapter 26 - Duration: 7:46.

CHAPTER XXVI

SAM RESIGNS

"Those desperate men!

You must have them arrested at once!" exclaimed Mrs. Matson when Joe, a little later, had

reached home, having left the horse and carriage at the local livery stable to be claimed.

"You ought to go to the police at once, John!

Why think of what might have happened to Joe," for the boy had told the whole story.

"Oh, it wasn't so bad," said Joe who, now that the excitement was over, and he had

so completely turned the tables on the plotters, was rather inclined to laugh at the experience.

"There are worse things than that done to get possession of valuable patents," said

Mr. Matson.

"Those men are evidently desperate, though why Mr. Holdney should turn against me I cannot

understand.

But I would rather wait, and take no action right away.

My work is almost finished and if all goes well I shall soon be independent of the harvester

people.

If, however, there is a slip-up[209] I will be dependent on my position for a living.

I think I will wait and see what develops."

But in the morning there was a new turn to affairs.

It was announced at the harvester factory that Mr. Benjamin had gone away for an indefinite

stay, and a new manager had his place.

This made it unnecessary for Mr. Matson to say anything.

He wrote a strong letter of protest to Mr. Holdney, and then worked harder than ever

to get his patents in shape so he would be fully protected in them.

As for Joe he said nothing to any of his chums about his experience.

The rig was claimed later by a man who would not give his name, and who drove off hurriedly,

as if he feared arrest.

"And now I'm going to get back to baseball," announced the young pitcher.

His arm got better rapidly after the Academy game, and he was soon pitching in practice

with his former vim and vigor.

He was now regarded as the regular substitute twirler for the Silver Stars.

Sam Morton, too, was regular in his practice, and there seemed to be something different

about him.

He was more careful in his conduct, and not as surly as he had been.

He accepted criticism in a better spirit, and in one game against the scrub[210] he

did such unusually excellent work that the manager complimented him.

"Just keep that up on Saturday," said Darrell, "and we won't let the Fairdale

Blues have a run."

"Oh, I'll be there with the goods all right," boasted Sam.

He glanced at Joe as he said this as much as to intimate that his rival would not get

a chance in the box.

The Fairdale Blues were a strong team, and, as they had beaten the Stars several times,

and had also won from the Resolutes, who were considered the strongest team in the county,

more than the usual interest attached to the coming contest.

It was to be played on the Stars' grounds, and early on the day of the game the grandstand

and bleachers began to fill.

The Blues arrived in several big carryalls with a noisy crowd of "rooters" carrying

horns, bells and clappers—anything with which to make a racket.

"They'll get Sam's goat if he isn't careful," observed Rodney Burke, when the

Stars went out to practice.

"Don't you fool yourself," retorted Sam.

"I'm going to pitch a no-hit no-run game to-day."

"That's like Sam—boasting as usual," commented Rodney.

[211]

"Well, I think he'll make good," said an admirer of the pitcher.

"Wait until you see what kind of hitters the Blues have," cautioned Rodney.

"They may knock Sam out of the box.

Then if Joe goes in——"

"Aw, Joe won't get a chance to-day," was the retort.

"He hasn't had enough practice."

"Look what he did to the Academy team," reminded Rodney.

And then further talk was stopped, for the gong rang to clear the diamond.

The game was about to begin.

The Stars took the field, for they were to bat last, and Sam faced his first opponent

with a smile of confidence on his face.

It faded away a moment later, however, as the lad knocked as pretty a three bagger as

had been seen on the grounds in many a day.

"That's the stuff!"

"Line 'em out!"

"Oh, we're on to his curves all right!" yelled the crowd.

Joe, who was on the bench as a reserve pitcher, jumped to his feet and watched the ball roll

past Tom who was playing centre.

It looked almost as if the batter would come on[212] home, but he held third and the fears

of the Stars subsided.

"Fool him now, Sam," called Darrell to the pitcher.

"Make him give you a nice one," was the advice the next batter got from his friends.

And he did, though it was only good for one bag.

However, the run came in, and there were gloomy hearts in the camp of the Silver Stars.

Sam managed to strike out the next man, and his confidence came back.

But it was only for a short time.

The crowd of Blue "rooters" was making a terrific racket and this may have gotten

on Sam's nerves, at any rate he gave the next man his base on balls and was later hit

for two two baggers.

"Oh, we've got his goat!

We've got 'em going!

Everybody take a run!" yelled the visiting captain, jumping up and down at the third

base coaching line.

Darrell ran over to Sam.

"You've got to pull yourself together," he said quickly.

"We can't afford to lose this game."

"I'm doing the best I can," retorted Sam.

"The ball slips."

"Don't let it slip—slips are dangerous," said[213] the manager sharply.

"You've got to do better or——"

"Play ball!" yelled the umpire and Darrell ran back to his place at first base.

Sam scowled at him, and then wound up for his next delivery.

Somehow they managed to get three out, but there were five runs in the Blue frame when

that inning ended, and only two for the Stars.

"We can't stand this," said Rankin to the manager.

"No, if Sam doesn't improve this inning I'm going to put in Joe."

"Sam will raise a row."

"I don't care if he does.

Why doesn't he pitch decent ball if he wants to hold his place?

They're laughing at the Stars now, and they didn't used to."

"I know it.

Well, maybe he'll improve."

But Sam didn't.

He could not seem to control the ball, his curves broke just about where the batters

wanted them and they knocked out three runs that inning.

"Matson bats for Morton!" announced the umpire when it came the turn of the Stars

and the change had been mentioned to the score keepers by Darrell.

[214]

"What does that mean?"

cried Sam, striding to where the captain and manager sat.

"It means that Joe is going to pitch the rest of this game," was the quiet answer.

"He is?"

Sam's voice rose high in anger.

"He certainly is.

You can't seem to do it, Sam.

I'm sorry, but we can't afford to lose.

We're near the tail end of the league now."

Sam shot a look at the captain.

Rankin nodded his head to confirm what the manager had said.

Then the deposed pitcher strode over to where the score keepers sat.

Taking up a piece of paper and a pencil he rapidly wrote something and handed it to Darrell.

"What's this?" asked the manager.

"My resignation from the Silver Star Baseball Club," snapped Sam.

"I'm done pitching for you.

It was all a put-up job to get me out, and that Matson lad in.

I'm through," and he turned aside.

"Very well," assented Darrell quietly.

"If you feel that way about it perhaps it is better that you quit.

But I'm sorry."

"Play ball!" yelled the umpire.

"Joe, bat for Sam and then take the box," said the manager, and there was a little subdued

applause from the other Star players on the bench.

It was their way of congratulating Joe.

Just wait till dusk and let your witch look to the west.

Thank you.

Yes! The castle! I can see the castle!

We should go now.

Follow me. This way.

Look! Lord Dorka's owl...

We must be close. This way.

We are there!

Yes, brother Gregory. Let Lady Dorka know that we are here.

A Tribute to the Dutch Republic - Duration: 3:10.

Let me ask you a question

We live in a land of merchants

We sail the world's seas with a fleet of 20,000 ships

To do business everywhere

We Dutchmen work together in trade

To garner a good price

To help one another when in danger

What do you think?

Has this been successful or not?

Yes

I can see that some of the honourable gentlemen hardly fit inside the benches

And I will ask you

When trading in the East or the West

Do you do so as a Royalist or a Republican?

No

And why do you think the English block our shipping lanes

And try to halt our trade

Is it because you're a Royalist or a Republican?

No

The English want to wage war with us because we're Dutchmen

Free Dutchmen!

Because in the eyes of the superpowers

Our small country is too rich

Too successful

And too free

To top it all off we're even a republic

Wherein every man is free to live as he will

It's a country where we decide for ourselves how to worship God

Where no single leader is more important than the country itself

The English don't want to give us that freedom

They fear that freedom

Because we're prepared ...

...to die for that freedom!

That's the reason why

Because we won that freedom with our own blood

That's the reason why

And I ask of you

Have you not all lost a family member to the Spanish or the English?

And was that Republican blood or Royalist blood?

No

That was Dutch blood!

It was our blood!

This is our land

It's a land we conquered from the water

A country where we earn our good fortune

By rolling our sleeves up and mucking in

In the villages and the cities

In the harbours

On the land

We can only protect our freedom

If we're prepared to fight for another's freedom

That

That is the bond which holds the seven arrows together in the claw of the Dutch Lion, honourable gentlemen

That's the bond!

Your freedom is my freedom

A freedom I will defend until my last breath

Thanks for watching!

Foster College of Business - Duration: 2:24.

SPEAKER 1: It's really important for me

to get the best of both worlds when

it comes to being at a mid-sized university,

because I didn't want to limit my options at a smaller school,

but I also didn't want to just be sitting down and talking

with my professor for the first time in my junior year,

like I would at a larger university.

SPEAKER 2: Here at Bradley, 100% of our classes

are taught by professors.

So you're never going to have a teacher's assistant teaching

the actual class.

SPEAKER 3: Faculty and staff interaction

is probably one of the most valuable things

that Bradley can really bring to the table.

Also learning hands on and not learning just from lecture.

SPEAKER 1: With all of the national rankings

the Foster College of Business has,

really says about the education you're getting.

It is comparable to the best business

colleges in the entire nation.

SPEAKER 4: You're going to get the personalized

attention on each and every one of your professors.

You're not going to be just that name or just that face.

You're going to be someone that they know.

SPEAKER 2: Most of my professors have had real world experience.

SPEAKER 1: They're really able to have

an insight into what you need to know going into that field.

SPEAKER 2: My professor was a consultant

before he came to Bradley.

He knows what it's like to consult a real business

with a real problem.

SPEAKER 1: 100% of our Foster graduates

graduate with some sort of hands on experience.

Every senior at the Foster College

of Business in your last semester

do a senior capstone project, which

is a consulting project in a team through the College

of Business with a actual company.

SPEAKER 2: The capstone goes way beyond just

learning how to do a balance sheet,

how to do a market assessment.

It really helps students build life skills

that they can take with them as they enter the business field.

So when it's time to go interview,

and your interviewer asks you, "Tell me about a time

that you had an issue when working at a team."

Well I have about two to three examples I can get.

It's been a very comprehensive experience

to really pull together all those things I've learned about

at Bradley into one project.

SPEAKER 1: What is really nice about that is you

have those real world experiences,

and you're ready to go out in the world

and really make a difference.

SPEAKER 4: I feel like I know business,

and I feel very prepared.

SPEAKER 3: If you're looking for a personal experience where

you're not known as just as a number,

I would highly recommend coming to Bradley.

Graduating from College - Duration: 1:25.

Do you remember leaving home?

Back then, college was an idea, an adventure that awaited you somewhere out there.

But then because of the people you met and the person that you've become.

Out there transformed into here, and Oregon State became more than just a place,

it became your very own.

And here you are again.

With that great out there stretched before you.

Anything is possible.

But this time you're not alone.

Because now you've all of Beaver Nation at your back.

We believe that you'll seek a different path, you'll find a better way, you'll

make a bigger difference.

Because wherever you go, we are going to go with you.

And whatever you seek, we know you're going to find it, out there.
