No-Bullsh t Spirituality For The Modern Mystic

By consciousreminder

Whether you call yourself New Age, holistic, spiritualist, or something else, theres

no rule book for following your own path. You dont have to pledge to the sandal and

candle allegiance, stop shaving, bin your deodorant, and vow never to raise your voice.

I mean, its 2016. Lets all get real for a mindful minute.

In the pursuit of zero-bullsh*t spirituality for all modern mystics, Im here to act

as your spiritual personal assistant. Here are my five top tips to help you get in tune

with your personal spirituality in a shortsighted world.

1. Go smudge yourself.

Think of this practice as a scrub-down for your soul, refreshing your energy, mood, and

attitude. Smudging (also known as spiritual cleansing) takes many forms. You can balance

your chakras in an Epsom salt bath, take a swim in an ocean or a lake, or for the

more adventurous modern mystic use a white sage smudge stick to rid your energy and aura

of anything negative or visit a Reiki healer.

2. Get fierce with quartz.

Diamonds are so 1950s. Seriously. That isnt an erect nipple Im sporting. Its an

amethyst crystal down my bra. Quartz is an energy-cleansing stone you can find in obsidian

necklaces, onyx rings, or jade bracelets. Think of them as gemstone knuckle-dusters

they bust up negative sh*t that tries to get in your way.

Different kinds of crystals serve different purposes, promoting protection, healing, happiness,

and love. Just choose what resonates. Embrace what feels right, what you think is beautiful.

Its a protective talisman that does your bidding. Bring it.

3. Get aligned with your (mental/emotional) lunar cycle.

They dont call them lunatics for no good reason. Full moons can make us all full-blown

cray-cray. Do yourself a favor and calendar that sh*t. When you start to pay attention

to your automatic responses to full and new moons, you can use that information to your

advantage. Interpret what those moons may mean for your energy and relationships.

What you would usually dismiss as a hormonal meltdown can now be diagnosed as a lunar eclipse

of your spirit. It pays to be prepared for the crazy.

4. Give your aura a makeover.

We exercise our bodies and challenge our minds. Why would we ignore the health of our souls?

Make a point of nourishing your soul. Feed it through self-development books, meditation,

and practicing yoga. This will hone your intuition, align you with your true self, and bolster

the light you shine toward others, helping you to radiate even more positive vibes. Dang,

your soul is fine!

5. Enlighten the f*ck up.

As a modern mystic, you are already a conscious soul. Practice your tolerance, share your

wisdom, and spread your love. Be mindful and respectful of the fact that not everyone embraces

spirituality, and those who do are at different stages of their spiritual development. Its

not up to you to save anyone else. Focus on your journey. Focus on your spiritual development.

Dont get distracted by someone elses journey, lessons, or life path. Pursue the

things that fuel your soul. And, most importantly, dont sweat the small stuff.

You are human. Sometimes you need a reminder to enlighten the f*** up. Thats OK. Go

easy on yourself as you grow spiritually. Were all just trying to find our way the

best that we can. All you need to be is

the best that

you can. Rock on.

10-Pound Stuffed French Toast in Philadephia | Food Network - Duration: 3:35.

We're all the way up on Germantown Avenue

in the Northwest corner of my hometown, Philadelphia,

on a hunt for the biggest, baddest, bestest

meals this city has to offer.

The Trolley Car Diner--

The food here is delicious.

The food is yummy.

It's like home, except it's a lot easier because you

don't have to make it yourself.

I'm here for Car 23--

Coming through, old 23.

--a trolley-shaped massive loaf of stuffed

French toast deliciousness.

So why is it called the Trolley Car Diner?

Back in the day, there actually was a 223-trolley that ran

right outside this restaurant.

The front of the restaurant was from a diner in the '30s.

That was actually trucked over here from Wilkes-Barre.

Oh, wow.

That's the Trolley Car Diner history.

An original Car 23 trolley parked outside

is the inspiration for Michael's most ginormous creation,

a massive stuffed French toast.

First step is we take the cinnamon raisin challa.

We're going to cut this up.

OK, and I love that we use an entire loaf.

Next step is we make the egg wash, whisk this up.

Got to have the yolks in there, man.

That's what gives it that really, really nice

finish on any French toast.

Nice and golden brown.

Yeah.

Always whole milk.

And then on top of that, we're going

to add 1/4 cup of heavy cream, make it nice and rich.

Oh, so you're not doing a half and half.

You're doing a whole and whole.

We take a little bit of cinnamon

and just a little pinch of nutmeg.

You want that flavor to come right through.

Dump that in.

Throw that bad boy in there.

We'll our cinnamon raisin challa,

bring it over to the flat top.

It's going to cook for three minutes on each side.

Now, this looks delicious by itself.

But we're not even done yet, are we?

We've got to make our filling for this.

So we're going to start off with a pound of powdered sugar.

A pound of powdered sugar?

A pound.

So it'll be a little sweet.

-A little touch. -Just a little bit.

Yeah.

I've got three pounds of cream cheese.

One pound wasn't enough.

I would love to meet the guy who ate it with two pounds

and was like, no.

He was disappointed.

We've got to go further.

A little bit blackberry, a pound of strawberries,

raspberries.

Man, these are super plump and big.

Finish off with the blueberries.

Blueberries.

Put them in the old stand mixer.

Look at that.

You got a really great color in the filling.

Look at that.

Oh, man.

A little layer of strawberry.

I love this.

Look at this.

It's like edible Lincoln Logs.

So you mixed the berries up for each layer?

Absolutely.

A little surprise?

That's it.

Blueberries on top.

Let's put the lid on.

Wow, look at that.

A Little powdered sugar on top, if you don't mind.

Oh, I would be happy to.

It's got to look like there's a snow stoppage on this trolley.

Let's put some wheels on here.

So we've got them on this front here.

Now they look like big wheels.

There we go.

Mike, this thing looks amazing.

It actually looks like a trolley.

It's the size of a trolley.

Yes, it is.

Yeah, I might need to pull the emergency cord on this one.

Car 23 is a quadruple-decker.

But is it also stacked with flavor?

So many layers--

I've never actually cut through an entire trolley before.

All right, I'm ready.

Mm, oh, man.

My god, it's incredible.

The hearty French toast flavor and the cream cheese

with all the fruit, it's the perfect blend of savory,

and then you get that little acid,

sweetness all the way throughout,

such a balanced bite.

Order up.

That is simply amazing.

I love big food, but never stuff this big.

No?

How is it? Is it good?

Mm-hm.

It's delicious.

The Greatest Thrift Haul EVER | part 2 - Duration: 4:51.

[music]

Alright, welcome back to part 2 of the Greatest Thrift Haul of all time!

If you haven't watched part 1, go and watch that right now 'coz I'm not gunna repeat myself

again...

But, it's pretty self explanatory, I got cool stuff, you watch me wear them - let's get

into it.

First off is this [singing] skirt!

It fits me perfectly, it's gorgeous and I'm pretty sure it was actually originally handmade.

[music]

In fact, I had quite good luck with flowy skirts, I got this one as well which looks

really nice paired with this basic beige top.

[60 pop music]

I also got the snuggliest scarf.

And this very cute overall dress.

Overall...

I think I like overalls.

No, no.

[music]

Oooh yes, these were some really good finds - okay first: this cropped...

Cropped stripey hoodie -

And I paired them with these red corduroy pants.

[music]

Okay the item that you were all waiting for, that you were all asking about - who's that

cow 2017 - I found the greatest artwork of all time for $6!

Okay so I know that this is going to be quite controversial in saying that it's the greatest

artwork of all time.

I know this because my boyfriend Luci does not like it.

How can you not see the beauty in this?!

Anyway he was diplomatically like, "well you can put that one in your sewing studio."

But of course!

Where else would it go!

I want to be able to look at it all the time!

I want to name the cow - what should I call her?

Ooh, okay, this dress - this dress is sooo cute!

It's a stretchy velvet simple bodycon dress.

But again, it's winter in Australia right now, so I paired it up with a long-sleeved

shirt and now it's totally cute and winter-appropriate!

[music]

Okay, apparently Ella wants to model too.

[Laughs] Do you want to model too?

She is technically a thrifted dog.

[Laughs] She was from the shelter.

[music]

I found lots of good basics at the thrift store, um I think getting some good basics

is really... good.

Yep.

Mmhm!

It's always good to have a bunch of basics in your wardrobe!

Which I paired with these amazing patterned pants.

Which are very cute, unfortunately they have fake pockets.

Why, women's clothing, why?!

Maybe I will try and hack some pockets in, and make a video out of it.

[music]

[Voiceover] Hi, future Annika popping in here - well, like, I'm still past Annika for anyone

who is watching this video, obviously, I'm not a time traveller...

I mean, I'm filming this later on because I forgot to talk about 3 more amazing items

that I got in this thrift haul.

Number 1: this fancy handbag.

My friend actually found this one but she decided that she didn't want it because it

was, as she said, "too fancy", and I was like well heck, I'm always fancy, give it to me!

It's a really good size, nice and small, but it has the capacity to carry my phone, money,

keys, hand sanitizer and a pill case - all my essentials!

And it's really dang cute.

I also got this pressed flower art, it's definitely not going to be appealing to everyone but

I really like it!

It's granny chic for SURE and I love it.

The end.

And finally this long grey cardigan.

I've been looking for a cardigan like this for EVER!

It's so nice - perfect for winter.

[guitar/indie music]

And yeah, I think that's it!

Oooh, one more thing.

This is actually a dressing gown!

But I think it looks really cute worn as outerwear.

It's stripey and it's got little roses on it.

[music continues]

Thank you so much for watching, I can't believe I got through filming all of that, it only

took me about 2 days!

I hope you enjoyed watching the Greatest Thrift Haul of All Time!

I really enjoyed making it, if you'd like to see more thrift hauls from me just let

me know, 'coz they're fun videos to make.

And once again, as I mentioned in the beginning of my video[s], where is this thrift store

you ask me?

It is in a mystery location that I have posted for everyone to see on my Patreon page, so

go check it out there.

See you all next time!

Bye!

The 7 Most Savage Mayweather-McGregor Trash Talking Moments - Duration: 4:45.

Hey everyone, for Complex News, I'm Justin Block.

And if you haven't heard, the most improbable fight of the century is actually happening.

MMA star and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor will indeed take on undefeated—and

no longer retired—boxer Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match on August 26 in Las Vegas.

It's coming up very soon, but the fight's been a long-time coming.

Rumors about a possible bout, and taunts between McGregor and Mayweather have persisted for

over a year, but both sides finally confirmed a deal yesterday.

There was plenty of, shall we say, posturing in the lead-up to a finalized fight, because

of course there was—we're dealing with Conor McGregor and Money Mayweather here.

These are the two most attention-grabbing fighters in the world.

It just wouldn't be a proper bout without world class fighters producing tons of world

class trash talk.

So, with that being said, we're highlighting the best trash talk McGregor and Mayweather

have dished out so far.

May 22, 2016: Does Mayweather Need McGregor More?

In a conversation with ESPN's Kenny Mayne, McGregor laid out why he—not Mayweather,

the heavy favorite and undisputed boxing legend—is the key ingredient to this mega-fight.

While pointing out that Mayweather's a bit long in the tooth at age 40, McGregor undercut

Mayweather's stature.

He basically called Mayweather out, saying that he's not only afraid to fight another

pro boxer in trying to capture a historic 50-0 record, but also needs McGregor's star

power to make the deal as lucrative as possible.

Check

it out:

November 16, 2016: Elephants vs. Ants The day after one of McGregor's fights,

TMZ caught up with Mayweather in the street and asked him if he saw the fight.

Mayweather told them that he hadn't, and then went on a blistering line of rhetorical

questions to make a simple point: I'm the sports icon in this equation, and McGregor's

resume doesn't even compare to mine.

Or as he put it: Elephants can't see ants.

December 13, 2016: Mayweather Takes His Trash Talk To IG Live

During an Instagram Live stream, Mayweather, clearly living his best life, casually popped

off on McGregor.

Take a look at his nasty name-calling combo:

December 14, 2016: Mayweather Puts A Heavy Price On McGregor Memes

A day after saying he'd slap McGregor, he decided to take action, but not in the physical

sense.

No, in today's digital world, feuds are settled by memes, and memes only.

On Instagram, he announced a $10,000 contest for the best caption to this video:

December 24, 2016: McGregor Declares His Mission Statement

Perhaps in response to Mayweather's back-to-back days of roasting, McGregor posted this to

Instagram with one simple message: I am going to break his face.

He'll get his chance come August.

January 19, 2017: Mayweather Mocks McGregor's Money

Let's make this clear: Floyd Mayweather fighting McGregor with his eye firmly on that

potential nine-figure payday.

He hauled in over $200 million for beating Manny Pacquiao back in 2015.

So when UFC president Dana White came with a $25 million offer, Mayweather could only

do one thing: Chuckle a bit, and then get out his Twitter fingers to flex his wealth

over McGregor.

"Before you ask for $25M, be worth more than $25M. You have the "2" and the "5" right

but you meant to say $2.5M not $25M."

June 14, 2017: It's F*cking On Now Like we said, it wouldn't be a world class

fight without world class trash talk.

When McGregor confirmed he'd be fighting he, again, made fun of Mayweather's age

by dragging Floyd Mayweather Sr. into the beef.

After all of these moments, whoever takes the next shot will need to come proper.

That's all for now, but for more on the biggest fight of the year, be sure to subscribe to

Complex on YouTube today.

Zoo Tales - Meet Auckland Zoo enrichment volunteer Jean - Duration: 2:07.

Hi, I'm Jean Wilson and I'm a volunteer at Auckland Zoo.

I started as a volunteer in 1997 and I've been doing behavioural enrichment with the primates

for 20 years, which is pretty cool.

So, when people ask me what I do and what behavioural enrichment is, I will tell them

that it's an activity that might have a small food component that keeps the animals occupied,

keeps them interested and we're always trying to encourage natural behaviours and we just

use everything and we just try to make it as interesting and as different as we can every time.

This is a magazine inside here, rolled up with fruit in the centre

and this guy here, we open it up and we put food in the centre there, so that they've got to get a stick

to get it out, so this is another tool use.

Pots and pans - so that's our noisy enrichment.

So, when Bev started the enrichment, it was really really simple and it's just evolved.

You know, we've sat down with the keepers and we have, sort of, little brainstorming sessions

and we've just gradually improved and improved the ideas.

I was working down at the Rainforest and it was probably early 2000, 2001 or something

and I said 'we need some shade for the orangs', as you get to know me better,

you'll know that I interfere in everything.

The team leader at the time, he said, "I'm sick of people telling me that, but I don't

know how to fix it, because somebody needs to watch them", so I set up an animal watch,

and I watched them and so I got the shade in the orang enclosure, which I think is pretty special.

Yeah, it is a second home to me and the people that I work with, because I've been here longer

than most of them, they're just like my family, so I've got two families.

It's the one thing about Auckland Zoo is there's always something going on,

and there's always something new being prepared or being planned or being done.

I think it's a pretty cool zoo.
