Hi guys, today I've got a graphic novel haul and I have never done a graphic
novel haul before because I only started reading graphic novels and comics last year.
I think I read my first one in January 2016 and ever since then I've kind
of honestly just fallen head over heels in love with them but I don't buy or read
as many as I would like to, simply because they're kind of expensive.
I think the average graphic novel is kind of basically double the price of your
average paperback. I think some of these I bought back in January, maybe even
December, so it's definitely a pretty collective haul but I haven't actually read
any of them yet. I kind of just like to ration out my graphic novels and comics
because they are so expensive, so I can't kind of continue to read them at a very
quick rate because I can't afford to buy them at a very quick great. So I haven't
read any of these because I kind of have a backlog of them but today I just thought
I would show you the ones that I have been picking up because I am super excited about them.
They sound and look absolutely fantastic and I'm very much looking forward to getting to them.
Firstly I have a continuation with a series that
I've talked about I think quite a lot because I absolutely adore it and that
is volumes 3 and 4 of 'Ms Marvel'. So that is 'Ms Marvel: Crushed' and
'Ms Marvel: Last Days' by G. Willow Wilson and I absolutely love this series.
This is categorically my favorite comic series I've read, probably my favourite
graphic novel kind of type thing I've read. I just love it so much, it makes me so happy.
Ms Marvel is categorically one of the best superheroes.
The fact that she still doesn't have a movie in the works makes me so upset.
I just want her to have own movie. She deserves it, she is fantastic.
She's so funny and relatable but just kick-ass and brilliant and I also found
this, which is a Ms Marvel Tsum Tsum. Which isn't a comic but I couldn't not
mention it because it made me so happy and it's absolutely adorable and I
couldn't believe that I managed to find a Ms Marvel thing because no one talks
about Ms Marvel. She's not in any of 'The Avengers' movies or anything like that
but this is absolutely adorable, so I was very excited about it.
Next I have 'Silk: The Life and Times of Cindy Moon' by Robbie Thompson and Stacey Lee.
I'm going to be completely honest, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this
is the right volume for me to have gotten because I think that this is kind
of the beginning volume. It says it's volume zero and I don't really know what
that means but I'm hoping that this is the right one.
But I picked this up because I loved the artwork in it.
It looks absolutely fantastic, I kind of fell in love with it and also this has fantastic
reviews on Goodreads, so I'm very much looking forward to it. I think she's kind
of like the female equivalent of Spider-Man and Spider-Man is in this.
It sounds really interesting, I've not read anything with Spider-Man in it before.
I've not read anything like it, so I'm very very excited about it. Also it's really
quite thick which I love because so many comics are so short and they're so
expensive and this I feel like I'm getting more for my money, so I'm very excited
about this and I just love the art style of it.
And lastly from Marvel I have 'The Young Avengers: Style > Substance'.
There are a couple of reasons why I picked this up.
Firstly, I love 'The Avengers', so 'The Young Avengers' just sounded really great.
But mostly it's because there is a superhero called Kate and the fact that I
can share my name with an Avenger and a superhero has never happened before and I'm
so excited about it and I'm hoping that she is fantastic because I'm going to be
so let down if my name is used for crappy superhero. So I'm very, very
excited about that. It's pathetic I realise that but I'm just excited that
I share a name with a superhero and an Avenger. I think she's kind of like the
young Hawkeye and I also believe that she is getting her own comic series very, very soon.
I also think this is maybe a trilogy or there are only three so far and once again, I really love the art style in it.
And I've heard some really good things about it and I think all The Avengers turn up
in it as well and I love The Avengers. So I'm very excited about this one.
Next I have 'Will & Whit' by Laura Lee Gulledge and I really don't know anything about
this whatsoever because I really enjoy going into
graphic novels having no idea what I'm getting myself into. So I don't really
look too much into what the plot is. Which is why all of these I've kind of
started by saying "I have no idea what it's about" but I recently read
'Page by Paige' by Laura Lee Gulledge and absolutely loved it. It was kind of almost like it was
written in verse, it wasn't but it was very different in the way
that it was set out and structured and written.
So I'm really looking forward to seeing whether this is similar to that.
I also picked up 'Zodiac Starforce: By The Power Of Astra'
by Kevin Panetta and Paulina Ganuchea and I am so, so sorry for most likely butchering those names.
I don't really know too much about this but I've heard
some fantastic things about it and also that it's really diverse.
I was just really drawn in by the colour scheme. It's so bright and colorful and also
the artwork in it just looks like so much fun. So I'm very excited about this one.
Next I have 'Lumberjanes: Volume One by
Noelle Stevenson, Grace Ellis and Brooke Allen and I am so excited about this.
This is one that I've been wanting to read for absolutely ages because the first ever
graphic novel I read was 'Nimona' by Noelle Stevenson and that is what set
off my love for graphic novels and comics and I've been wanting to read
something else by them since I read that and I've heard fantastic things about this.
I think it is set at a summer camp and anything that is set at a summer
camp is automatically a win for me because it makes me think of 'The Parent Trap'.
Which is one of my favourite movies, so I'm already off to a great start with
this and I really like the illustrations in it. It seems like a lot of fun and
yeah I'm really looking forward to this. As I've said about a million times, it just
seems like it will be a really fun read.
I then I have 'Newsprints' by Ru Xu
and again I'm really sorry if I pronounced their name wrong but this is
about an orphan who disguises herself as a newsboy during the war. I'm not sure
which war, I'm not sure where but it says during a war. And the reason I picked
this up is because I watched 'Newsies'. That's it, that's the reason I picked this up.
I watched 'Newsies' in January in the cinema. I watched the Broadway
live production of it. Saw this, thought of that, so I picked it up.
That's kind of a story of it. I just, I loved that musical and automatically I
just wanted to be a newsboy and I wanted to dance and prance and sing around New York.
This isn't set in New York but it just still sounds really great and I'm really looking forward to it.
The artwork looks really interesting and I really like the fact that it's a standalone,
so I don't need to keep buying even more volumes of it but I'm looking forward to it.
And lastly I have something that I am super excited about
and something that is very very, dear my heart and that is
'The Bumper Book of Peanuts' and it's basically just a huge collection of Peanuts
comic strips and I love Charlie Brown and Snoopy and the whole Peanuts gang
because they just make me so happy. I have a bunch of individual volumes that my
mum had when she was a child of the comic book strips and I just saw this and
I thought it'd be such a cool thing to have on the table and just have and keep
forever because it is just really, really lovely and I'm so excited about it and
it just makes me laugh. Charlie Brown can make me laugh like no other.
These comic strips make me laugh so much and it is ridiculous and
probably incredibly immature. I couldn't care less, I love them. And I found it for
only £10, which was kind of amazing considering I think it was meant to be
about £30 and yeah I'm very, very much in love with this and I'm very excited about it.
So that is it for my kind of, collective graphic novel and comic haul.
I would absolutely have to know if you have read any of these and what you thought of them.
Or also if you have any comics and graphic novel recommendations I'm always very open to hearing them.
If you would like to know what I think of these, I'm certain that they will turn up
in a wrap-up very soon because I'm really looking forward to picking them up.
And yeah that it basically it. I will leave the links to my Twitter, Instagram,
Tumblr, Goodreads, Blog and Snapchat in the description box below, so feel free to
follow me on any of those if you would like. And also on Goodreads I will always
review these when I read them and yeah I hope you're having a really, really lovely day.
Bye!
