Hi, YouTube, it's Kathy, and this is Bee.
She won't leave me alone while I'm recording, so, dog!
I was tagged by Jo Linsdell to do the Which Book Tag, which basically means I'm going
to go through the last ten books that I read and I'm going to tell you which one I enjoyed
the most.
So how it works is you look at the book that you read ten books ago, and pair it up against
the one that you read nine books ago, and then decide out of the two which one will
advance, all the way up to the most recent book to figure out out of the last ten books,
which one you enjoyed the most.
And I'm wearing a hoodie, because even though it's June, it's cold on Vancouver Island,
because climate change.
Ten books ago was Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and nine books ago was The Bad Beginning
by Lemony Snicket.
Slaughterhouse Five was a little bit of a struggle bus for me whereas I really, really
enjoyed, just, the writing style of Lemony Snicket, so for now, I'm going to go with
The Bad Beginning.
Now we have The Bad Beginning up against Assdeep in Wonder, and Assdeep in Wonder was kind
of a "meh" read for me, so we're gonna stick with The Bad Beginning.
And here's the part where The Bad Beginning becomes dethrowned, because the next book
is Arabella of Mars, which was freaking wonderful, so Arabella of Mars, you are now the top choice.
Now we have Arabella of Mars up against Equal Rites, and both of these had really, really
good points to them that I enjoyed.
Arabella of Mars, I just really fell in love with the world, whereas with Equal Rites,
the comedy of the writing and just the peculiarity of Terry Pratchett, I really, really enjoyed.
Would, would you like to help me choose which book goes on?
No, you'd just like to lick my arm.
That seems about right.
To break this tie, I thought to myself, "which of these books would I like to re-read immediately,"
and for me that is Arabella of Mars.
So you win over Equal Rites.
Next up against Arabella of Mars, we have All That Sang, and to be honest, Arabella
of Mars is not going to get dethroned by a book where -
see this week's Wrap Up video to find out why!
Now we have Arabella of Mars up against Fairest, and the thing is, if we were including the
entire series that something is in, Fairest would win.
The Lunar Chronicles series is amazing, and I absolutely fell in love with all of the
characters, but because this is a book against a book challenge, Arabella of Mars is still
up there.
Next we have Arabella of Mars up against The Reptile Room, and I really do enjoy Lemony
Snicket, but Arabella of Mars - I just love this world so much.
And again, because this is part of a series, it's hard to take it out of the series and
have it be it's own, single, good thing.
Which means that I might was well just pre-emptively take out The Wide Window as well, which is
the most recent book I finished.
So now it's Arabella of Mars against The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy, and this is
the hardest choice.
But, again...
The Love Song of Miss Queenie Hennessy is the second in a duology, which means that
if I hadn't read The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, it wouldn't hold up as much as
Arabella of Mars holds up, so...
I think I might have to re-read this book really soon, even though I just finished reading
it about a week ago.
So that is the Which Book Challenge.
If you would like to do this challenge, you, just, consider yourself tagged because this
is the first time I've actually been tagged for something, and I am not used to actually
having to come up with people to tag.
The original video will be linked down below and I will see you soon.
Bye!
