Waching daily Jun 21 2017

Finally tonight, a small degree of justice for the victims of one of New York City's

most notorious slum lords.

Steven Croman, also known as the Bernie Madoff of landlords, has pleaded guilty to grand

larceny, tax fraud and falsifying business records.

As part of his plea deal, he will spend one year in Rikers Island prison and pay five

million dollars.

Croman owns more than 140 buildings across Manhattan and for years used a private investigator

to harass and strong-arm his tenants into accepting buyouts at rent-controlled properties

all so that he could charge the next resident a ridiculously high rent.

In addition, Croman also filed false documents that inflated the price of rent- controlled

units in order to receive multi-million dollar loans from major banks.

In just three years, he received more than 45 million dollars through this scheme.

While this plea deal lets Croman off the hook far too easily, at least he will serve actual

prison time for an almost non-existent penalty for white-collar criminals who commit financial

crimes, that's the positive spin there.

WHAT I ATE IN A DAY VEGAN #73 + AM Routine | Mary's Test Kitchen - Duration: 8:54.

Hello friend, or not-yet-friend,

I'm so happy to be back for another What I Ate Wednesday, the show where I share all

my vegan eats in a day because y'all are nosy and keep asking for them.

I'm nosy too.

Let me know in the comments below what you're having today!

Lately, I've been starting my days early and as usual, the first thing I do is make tea.

I'm really liking this tea.

White tea is normally a bit pointless because it doesn't taste like much.

But this one is spiked with Darjeeling black tea so we get the antioxidant benefits of

white tea and flavour of what I'll call *actual* tea plus a little berry-ishness to get us

in a happy springy mood.

I'm on my last couple tea bags though so let me know if you have any tea suggestions for

me!

Once that's brewing, I pop a couple turmeric pills and I'm out the door while the air is

still cool.

Get the heart pumping, blood moving around, muscles and tendons warmed up.

And smell the flowers.

And see what the animals are up to.

And more flower observing and flower smelling because the season for flowers here in Calgary,

Alberta, especially for the ones that smell the best is short and I must smell all of

them right now!

When I get home, my tea is the perfect temperature so I sip that.

Depending on my mood, I might diffuse some essential oils while I make a little list

for the day.

Then it's time for some stretches and some strength exercises.

It's always something easy.

I just do what feels good.

Since I've kept up this routine consistently for a few months, I've been feeling a lot

better.

Which is why I'm back.

I'm still not sure of what to do about a posting schedule but when I figure it out, I'll let

you know.

Afterwards, I'm warmed up and ready to work.

When I'm feeling hungry, I make a smoothie.

I was never a smoothie for breakfast type of person, at least without a second breakfast

later, but I guess I am now.

I add an all in one nutrition powder plus a few tablespoons of hemp protein so I don't

get hungry again too quick.

My friend kindly gave me this blender 2nd hand when she got herself a new one.

It's super loud so I protect my ears with ear plugs.

But it sure does make a smooth smoothie right quick.

And I get chocolate for breakfast.

It's awesome.

My inner kid is super happy about this.

And the tiny speck that is my adultness is pretty satisfied with the nutritional content.

Win win.

Soon enough lunch time rolls around.

And lunch time is whenever I happen to feel hungry.

And past Mary was super sweet and prepped me some delicious, healthy soup.

Thanks, past Mary.

You deserve a pat on the back.

But seriously, be good to your future self and get on the meal prep train if you haven't

already.

It's not just about the food.

It's about self-support and appreciation.

I add a little water to thin this out and microwave for three minutes.

Stirring every minute.

And that's it.

Lunch ready in five minutes.

I'm adding crushed red chillies because 1) spicy food is the best food and 2) it's supposed

to be good for you.

Anti-inflammatory

Anti-oxidants and that stuff.

I was in a noodle kind of mood for dinner and had these brown rice noodles.

It's only two of us for the meal but I always go ahead and make the whole pack so tomorrow's

dinner will need even less prep.

For the main protein, I'm trying these Gardein crumbles for the first time.

I'm still pissed at them for discontinuing the beefless burgers in Canada but maybe these

are just as good?

We'll see.

They look crumbly.

Easy to separate the clumps.

And they're only supposed to take a few minutes to cook so that's good since I don't want

the stove on too long.

I've got some orange pepper, red onion, garlic ginger chilli puree and scallion whites already

prepped from the fridge.

Which is ideal because, at the end of the day, the last thing I want to do is chop things.

A little canola oil in the pan over medium-high heat.

Yes, canola is my Canadian grown oil of choice and no, I don't buy the fear-mongery claims

of how it's soo bad for you.

Do I sound a little defensive?

That's only because I get the most ridiculous uninformed comments about it on a regular

basis.

That and the soy comments.

Oh boy.

After a few minutes of stir-frying, I figure it's time to add the crumbles.

They certainly look the part.

It doesn't smell like anything though.

Not like the beefless burgers; those smell awesome right away.

I miss them.

I got some frozen kale, a cup full.

I love this frozen kale.

No washing, no chopping, just dump and cook.

It tastes just as good as fresh.

Surprising.

I know!

Now that that's looking fine AF, time for a taste.

Needs salt.

My noodles are done and on goes the garlic ginger chilli stir-fry.

I can already tell, this is going to be messy to eat.

The noodles are completely bland so I grabbed one more thing from the fridge.

Sweet quick pickled cabbage slaw.

I just poured some white vinegar, a bunch of sugar, a bit of garlic powder, salt and

water over packaged slaw mix.

It's pretty good.

I'm loving the way this is looking.

I think meals should be full of colour like this.

Makes me happy.

But pretty can't last; gots to mix this together.

And taste.

So it's okay.

I'm tasting the garlic ginger and chilli seasoning that I added and not much else in the crumbles.

They taste and feel like TVP, aka texturized vegetable protein, rehydrated with water.

So super bland.

Nothing like the beefless burgers.

I guess it's supposed to be plain and you have to add a bunch of flavour yourself.

Disappointing but this dinner was still pretty tasty with the sweet orange peppers and red

onion, and the sweet and sour crunch from the pickled slaw.

Just would've been tasti-ER with beefless burger crumbled in.

Yeah, still bitter about those beefless burgers.

You know what's not bitter?

Your sweet sweet comments!

Everyone who has left nice comments on my first two videos since coming back are my

faves.

You make me feel so welcome and motivated to make more videos!

Don't worry, moms.

Health comes first and I promise not to over do it.

Anyways, that was my day.

Don't forget to tell me how your food day is/was going.

OK, friends?

Thanks for watching; I hope you like the video.

Please give it a thumbs up if you did and subscribe for more videos like this, plus

easy vegan recipes...each week?

Probably, but we'll see.

I'm still figuring how much I can do.

Bye for now.

Airport Argument Scene | Captain America Civil War (2016) | Movie Clip 4K - Duration: 2:39.

Wow, it's so weird how you run into people at the airport.

Don't you think that's weird? - Definitely weird.

Hear me out, Tony.

That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this.

Captain.

Your Highness.

Anyway...

Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in.

That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?

You're after the wrong guy.

Your judgement is askew.

Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday.

And there are five more super soldiers just like him.

I can't let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can't.

Steve...

you know what's about to happen.

Do you really wanna punch your way out of this one?

All right, I've run out of patience.

Underoos!

- Nice job, kid. - Thanks.

Well. I could have stuck the landing a little better, it's just...

New suit. Wait, it's nothing, Mr Stark.

It's perfect. Thank you.

Yeah, we don't really need to start a conversation.

Okay. Cap. Captain.

Big fan. I'm Spider-Man.

Yeah, we'll talk about it later.

- Hey, everyone. - Just... Good job.

You've been busy.

And you've been a complete idiot.

Dragging in Clint... "Rescuing" Wanda from a place

she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place.

I'm trying to keep...

I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart.

You did that when you signed.

All right, we're done.

You're gonna turn Barnes over,

you're gonna come with us, now, because it's us...

or a squad of J-SOC guys...

with no compunction about being impolite.

Come on.

We found it.

Their Quinjet's in hangar five, north runway.

All right, Lang.

Hey, guys, something...

Whoa. What the hell was that?

I believe this is yours, Captain America.

Oh, great.

All right, there's two on the parking deck.

One of them's Maximoff, I'm gonna grab her.

Rhodey, you wanna take Cap?

Got two in the terminal, Wilson and Barnes.

Barnes is mine.

What Nuclear Bombs Taught Us About Whales - Duration: 2:50.

Hi, this is Kate from MinuteEarth.

NUCLEAR APOCALYPSE… would be pretty bad... so in the 1990s, most of the world's governments

formally agreed to a deal to outlaw tests of nuclear weapons.

To hold each other accountable, they set up a global network of sensors that pick up the

low-frequency waves that nuclear explosions send over long distances.

With a few notable exceptions, most countries adhere to the rules, so nuclear tests are

pretty rare and the network mostly picks up signals from other sources, like volcanoes...rocket

explosions...ship engines...and even the vibrations of icebergs.

This background noise is a headache for the people listening for nuclear explosions, but

it's a boon for lots of other listeners, who can also access the data, with permission.

For instance, instead of chasing down whales and attaching tracking devices to them, scientists

can use their songs to estimate their locations.

By listening to all the meteoroids that travel through Earth's atmosphere, we've learned

that there are way more out there than what we can see, suggesting that the risk of a

city-destroying meteorite is as much as ten times higher than we earlier believed.

By monitoring active volcanoes, or even setting off controlled explosions, and measuring how

little of the energy boomerangs back to the sensors, scientists have found that the winds

way above Earth's surface are faster and more variable than we thought, which is part

of the reason our current weather forecasts aren't that great.

And speaking of forecasts, data from the network's sensors also help us locate earthquake epicenters

to provide better warnings about potential tsunamis.

The system may have been built to detect nuclear tests, but it's led to an explosion of knowledge

about our planet.

And to a lot more questions - like what is responsible for all of the sound waves that

we haven't identified yet.

This video was sponsored by the Preparatory Commission For The Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty

Organization, or CTBTO, with financial support from the European Union.

CTBTO has been mandated by 183 nations to monitor for illegal nuclear tests.

If you're a researcher interested in using data from CTBTO's monitoring system to further

expand our knowledge about the world, contact the organization at ctbto.org.

Thanks to CTBTO for their sponsorship - and for helping keep the world safe from nuclear

weapons.

And thanks to our friend Jesse Agar of This Place for illustrating this video.

MKULTRA THE CIA'S OBSESSION WITH 'BRAIN WARFARE' HUMAN EXPERIMEN - Duration: 9:55.

MKULTRA: THE CIA'S OBSESSION WITH 'BRAIN WARFARE' HUMAN EXPERIMENTS

Allen Dulles, the then newly appointed CIA director, delivered a speech on 10 April 1953

to people who had gathered at the Princeton alumni.

The event was rather mundane, despite the fact that global tensions had been running

high.

The war in Korea was reaching its end and the New York Times had run a story that said

that POWs of America who were returning home might have been converted thanks to Communist

brainwashers.

Some of the GIs that were coming back had been confessing to war crimes, such as carrying

out germ warfare against communists.

This, of course, was something that the US denied vehemently.

Others were said to have been so brainwashed that they had refused to go home to the US.

Along with this, the United States was only weeks away from sponsoring, in secret, the

overthrow of the leader of Iran who had been democratically elected.

The CIA was growing even more powerful day by day, and Dulles was the first civilian

director, with his speech giving people an insight into what his priorities were for

the CIA.

He had said that over the last few years people have become used to hearing about the battle

for the minds of men, the war of ideologies, has he put it.

He said that he had to wonder if people clearly saw the magnitude of the problem and whether

or not they realized just how sinister the battle for mind control had been when in the

hands of the Soviets.

He went on to say that it might be a new form and it might be called brain warfare.

Dulles then went on to talk about the brain perversion techniques of the Soviets and described

them as being nefarious, abhorrent but effective.

He pointed out the American prisoners of war that were returning from Korea and said that

they were now only shells of the men they had once been, copying the propaganda of the

Communists that they had heard for so long.

He also talked about uncertainty and fears about them using chemical agents, hypnosis

or something else.

The director finished by saying that in the west they were handicapped in regards to brain

warfare.

The non-consensual experimentation, even on enemies, was not ethical with the values of

America.

Dulles insisted that they were also not ethical to human values.

The American public had been fascinated with a fear of a new type of brain warfare through

all of the 1950s and this had been brought about by the words of the CIA along with the

stories told about the GIs that were making their way back from Korea, the Soviet Union

and China and who had been brainwashed.

NEW TECHNOLOGIES THAT NO MAN COULD RESIST The newspaper headlines gave accounts that

were sensationalized about the new techniques for mind control along with the technologies

used that no man was said to be able to resist.

The American culture was paranoid and books such as The Manchurian Candidate and Naked

Lunch all played on political conspiracies and scientists that were unhinged.

The thought of brainwashing gave many Americans a compelling and in a way, comforting, the

explanation for the swift rise of communism, that the Soviets had used brainwashing as

a tool not only for enemies but also on some of their own people.

This was the only explanation as to why so many countries might embrace an ideology that

was so backward.

It was a case of Soviet mind control vs the freedom of the American mind and this became

a line that divided.

MK-ULTRA PROGRAM GETS CIA APPROVAL Only three days after giving the speech, Dulles went

ahead and approved the start of the top-secret CIA program with the name of MK-Ultra.

This was said to be for the covert use of chemical and biological materials.

However, Dulles had even greater plans for the Cold War agenda of the CIA.

The mind control experiments of MK-Ultra were centered on a modification to behavior by

way of electric shock therapy, radiation, polygraphs, toxins, chemicals, and hypnosis.

A range of test subjects was used, some of which volunteered and others who simply had

no idea that they were taking part in a sweeping defense research program.

PROGRAM USED US SOLDIERS, MENTALLY IMPAIRED AND SEXUAL PSYCHOPATHS The MK-Ultra program

involved boys from a state school who were mentally impaired, US soldiers and sexual

psychopaths from a state hospital.

The programs were used on some of the most vulnerable people in society.

Consent was given by prisoners in exchange for sentences that were commuted or more recreation

time.

Former organized crime boss, Whitey Bulger, wrote about his experiences as a test subject

in MK-Ultra.

He said that eight convicts who were in a state of paranoia and panic had taken part.

He went on to say that tests were carried out at an Atlanta Penitentiary and people

began to hallucinate, lost their appetite, the room would alter in shape and inmates

would feel violent.

They had nightmares in which they would see such as blood coming from the walls.

Bulger said that men turned into skeletons with weight loss and he felt as though he

was losing his mind.

Bulger said that he had been given LSD or acid and that he had been one of the CIAs

key interests in the brain warfare program.

It had been said that in the 1940s the CIA had got reports that the Soviet Union had

been engaged in producing LSD and they had tried to buy the supply of the world.

The agency was said to be terrified of the LSD program of the Soviet Union.

With the MK-Ultra program, the interest in LSD of the CIA changed from defensive to offensive

as they found it could be useful to help control bodies regardless of whether they were willing

or not.

The CIA thought about using it in a range of situations, from getting people from Europe

in the event a Soviet attack took place to enable the assassination of leaders of their

enemies.

In 1953 ten scientists met up in a cabin that was in the forest of Maryland and participants

agreed to understand the value of the drug.

Of course, the CIA knew how the public would react if they found out about MK-Ultra and

so it was said that it must be kept secret.

CIA EXPERIMENTS WERE SIMPLE, UNETHICAL AND SOMETIMES ELABORATE The first experiments

of the CIA were relatively simple but unethical.

They gave doses to single targets, sometimes using volunteers and other times putting drugs

into drinks of employees at the CIA.

On other occasions, the experiments with LSD were more elaborate, with the most notorious

of them being Operation Midnight Climax.

George White was involved with interior renovations, and he decorated a room with pictures of can-can

dancers from France, red curtains to the bedroom windows, black mats made of silk and other

things, and to the middle-aged drug bureaucrat, each of these things brought feelings of glamor

and sex.

The room was not just any normal room, it was a trap.

Bugging equipment along with two-way mirrors was installed and prostitutes lured men

in and they were given LSD and their reactions studied by White behind the mirror.

White also began to work more closely alongside prostitutes, finding out how they might be

trained and deal with secrets.

It was said that during a sexual encounter people were more likely to have information

extracted from them.

A lot of the actions of White were said to have been due to nothing more than voyeurism.

MK-ULTRA PROGRAM CEASES AND FILES DESTROYED The experiments continued on until 1962 and

then stopped when one member of the staff of the CIA Inspector General found out about

non-volunteers taking part.

While the directors tried to get the program to continue it was said that the CIA should

follow new ethics.

Senator Edward Kennedy oversaw the congressional hearings in 1977, looking into the effects

of MK-Ultra and the hearings led to the revelation of many details that were disturbing.

Throughout the hearings, the staff of the CIA kept saying that they did not remember

any details and the director behind MK-Ultra told workers that it would be better if the

files associated with the program were destroyed.

The MK-Ultra program was one that was born in secrecy and it has managed to hold onto

the many secrets associated

with

it and will do forever.

A Fifty Year Old Ballerina and Aging In The Industry - Duration: 2:30.

I've danced on many of the greatest stages around.

I've danced at Covent Garden.

I've danced at the Kirov.

I've danced at the Bolshoi.

I've danced at the Paris Opera Ballet.

Aging gracefully means being flexible, being open, allowing change, enjoying change, and

loving yourself.

I think that's what it means.

I danced for 30 years with the New York City Ballet.

I joined as an apprentice when I was 17 and I retired at 47.

It's my longest run.

My body started to change and I started to have some issues with my hip and some issues

with my back that were a little bit more painful.

I developed arthritis.

I thought "Oh I'll just be young and happy and feeling great forever" and then all of

a sudden, it was just like, this is your new life.

It took me 4 years to get out of pain.

And that included leaving the ballet company and changing my way of dancing.

It's hard to feel that change in your body and to feel that ability to jump so high and

run and to fly, it's hard to let that go, and to remember that you're human.

It's just a constant strive for excellence.

It's a constant strive to be better.

And whatever that means, you just want to be better.

And then there comes a time when being better isn't always with your body, but it's with

other things.

That's the exchange.

To be an aging ballerina, can be looked upon in not the best light.

It just felt wrong to hang on to something that didn't feel natural anymore.

I got a hip replacement at age 48.

I felt a lot younger, a lot happier.

I'm doing a little bit of everything now.

I'm dancing, I'm teaching.

The thing I love most is continuing to learn and keeps me motivated.

I think I learned so much about who I am through my dancing and through the experiences I've

had.

I do feel that I experienced a little bit of ageism, but I think it's very natural to

the art form and it's an unfortunate fact that comes along with it.

It just went with the territory that I chose and it was why I was so happy there.

Kirby Switch ANALYSIS - Reveal Trailer (Secrets & Hidden Details) - Duration: 16:22.

E3 2017 has come and gone and with it, a bunch of new trailers were released.

So it's that time of year where we tune up the old Analysis Machine and get ready

to take a closer look at some of the big new games.

And one that got me really excited was the announcement of a new Kirby game for the Switch.

Kirby's been on a bit of a roll lately with Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot so what kind

of surprises does the pink puffball have in store for us this time around?

Well, let's see what secrets and hidden details the Analysis Machine has found!

We'll start with the levels as there's only a handful that were really shown.

The game will stick to a 2D plane with 3D models and backgrounds just like the past

few Kirby entries.

Our first level sticks to the tried and true Green Greens-inspired design.

There are swirling clouds in the background along with cube-shaped bushels of leaves in

the trees.

In addition, some pieces of the ground appear rolled up with large holes in the center to

the point where we can see the trees' roots growing through them.

At another point, we can see more of the background with water flowing through the middle of one

rolled hills but no clear indication of the water's source.

I guess this is Dream Land after all.

Or is it?

We don't actually have solid confirmation of that yet.

The next level has a somewhat knitted appearance based on the foreground; there's the fabric-like

texture of the flowers and other patchwork adoring the stage.

And in the background, many of the hills actually seems to have tea cozies on top.

It certainly gives it a unique look considering Kirby himself doesn't have a different style

like in Epic Yarn or Rainbow Curse.

A later scene better shows off that the background is filled with rainbows adding to the soft

and happy aesthetics.

There were only two more levels shown during the trailer though.

The first appears to be in a sandy cave with a crescent moon-shaped hole in background

ceiling, allowing bluish light to filter in.

But the main source of light seems to be the torches that line the foreground.

The other is a beach level with palm trees in the foreground and islands and the ocean

in the background.

There's really not too much else to note about the levels themselves although another

portion of the trailer actually shows off the world map.

From what we can see, it seems that the world map will loosely reflect what Kirby sees in

the level itself.

We can see plains, the square trees, plateaus, and even mountains.

The only features missing from the overworld is the tea cozie hills and the beach which

are likely found in another section of the world map.

What we do know is that Kirby can freely roam around this map, similar to how Yoshi could

in Woolly World.

And just like in that game, it doesn't mean that Kirby can enter any level in any order.

Most of the levels are marked with a yellow star in a orange circle with an orange and

yellow border, but there's one with a yellow star inside a blue circle and a red border

which seems to indicate that it's already been completed.

But there's one more level to point out.

Just to the right is an orange circle with a yellow border and no star.

We believe this indicates that it's an extra level and a secret exit must be found in the

previous stage.

Or maybe all the items in this world must be found to unlock it, just like the 3DS games.

But there's definitely going to be at least some exploration in this Kirby game.

The big draw here though is Kirby himself along with the enemies he'll encounter and

the Abilities he'll be able to use.

Now there are a few standards to be found here as far as level design.

Kirby can collect stars in order to earn extra lives, there are switches to activate certain

things though we don't see what this one does in particular, food will act as health,

and the level will end with these special doors.

Yep, this is definitely a Kirby game and we see that again with some of the returning

enemies.

Not all of them provide Abilities of course such as Bronto Burt here, Chip just a little

bit later, and then the stone faced Kabu and the jumping Bouncy.

All four are pretty prominent returning enemies with Chip becoming a more popular choice after

his appearances in both Triple Deluxe and Planet Robobot.

Of course, there's the return of the Waddle Dees as well, but that was never going to

be a question of whether they'd return.

The first enemy we see that provides Kirby with an Ability is Blade Knight, another enemy

that commonly makes an appearance.

This naturally allows Kirby to become Sword Kirby.

But it's not long until we're thrown a curveball in the form of Cleaning Kirby, an

Ability that hasn't been seen since Dream Land 3 on the Super Nintendo.

Now, the most common enemy that this power was obtained from was the Broom Hatters, marking

the only time they've actually given a power.

They seem like the most obvious answer to who will make an appearance in Kirby Switch.

However, looking at Dream Land 3, this power could also signal the return of Keke, Bukiset,

and even the mid-boss Haboki.

New enemies could also give the power, but Kirby games do love to draw on the past so

we'd expect at least one of these other enemies along with Broom Hatters.

We then see Cleaning Kirby in action as he uses his broom to juggle this brand new orange-colored

enemy before tossing it away.

Unfortunately because this new enemy is only seen during this scene, we don't really

know what it's capable of as this piece of cloth on the left may be part of its attack.

That cloth may even indicate that this new enemy is how Kirby obtains the Cleaning Ability,

but there's no concrete proof of that yet.

What's really interesting though is Cleaning Kirby's running attack which actually summons

Nago, one of Kirby's Animal Friends from Dream Land 3.

The move turns Kirby into a washcloth as Nago pushes him forward, which both clears the

pile of leaves and takes out the Poppy Bros Jr.

And as we'll see later, this does indeed mean that Bomb returns as an Ability as well.

But the appearance of Nago is especially interesting, mainly because there's no other sign of

the Animal Friends so they're likely just cameos related to Kirby's Cleaning moveset.

After all, in Dream Land 3, each Ability only had one thing they could do rather than the

more complex options introduced in Super Star.

So in order to bring Cleaning up to speed, a new moveset needed to be created and why

not pull from the past by having Kirby temporarily work with a different Animal Friend for each

maneuver while also inventing new ones since there are only six Friends in total.

We next see that the Water Ability returns as well, making its first appearance since

premiering in Return to Dream Land.

In that game, it was obtained from Water Galbos, Pluids, and the mid-boss Water Galboros so

they could all come back as well.

But as we see later, there's also a brand new enemy that gives Kirby Water.

It's called Driblee, and it seems to be some kind of water snake or maybe even tadpole

based on its tail.

Returning to where we left off, we see another classic enemy in the form of Sir Kibble and

once again, we see that Cutter returns as an Ability later on.

But that's not the interesting part here.

Instead, rather than destroy it, Kirby tosses a heart at it which appears to be a new way

of recruiting enemies to your side.

This was last seen in Super Star where the technique was a bit different.

There you took the Ability from the enemy and then pushed a button to eject them and

create an ally controlled by either a friend or the computer.

The concept here is pretty much the same though there are a few differences.

For one, when Kirby first brings out his heart, a smaller heart appears above Sir Kibble and

we'll soon this again with Poppy Bros. Jr, Burning Leo, and every other enemy Kirby recruits

meaning that there's a handy visual guide to who Kirby can have join him.

Although it does make us wonder what would happen if Kirby threw his heart at an enemy

without that symbol.

At any rate, this recruitment also causes a physical change to Sir Kibble.

His helmet is given a yellow Cutter-like visor with Kirby's face that even has the small

wings on the side.

So it's still Sir Kibble but with a Kirby flourish.

And the same thing happens to Poppy Bros. Jr where his hat changes to more of the pointy

wizard hat that Kirby wears when he has the Bomb Ability.

And this happens again with Burning Leo, who returns from Super Star and Mass Attack, to

grant the Fire Ability.

The biggest change to a recruited Burning Leo is that his color changes to green.

So all three of these new allies reflect the color of the player controlling them and we

see an example of this when Burning Leo is yellow rather than green.

So it's time for a crazy theory.

What if Kirby's other Kirby friends have lost their bodies and his adventure is all

about getting them back, but in the meantime he's able to throw their hearts at certain

enemies in order for the friends to possess them and help Kirby on his quest.

It would explain the new process of recruitment as well as why the enemies change to reflect

the actual Kirby powers or at least the color of the Kirby.

It would tie into the theme of possession that was so prominent in Super Mario Odyssey,

not that these games are linked in any way.

Still, it is one idea of context for all of this if the game even cares about making sense

that is.

Continuing on, we see the return of Mr. Frosty as a mid-boss meaning Ice Kirby is back as

well.

Again, something that will be confirmed later in the trailer.

As far we can tell though, Mr. Frosty doesn't seem to have any new moves, at least not yet.

But Kirby and his friends do, or at least they have a returning ability.

Kirby and his allies are able to merge their powers in order to create Combination Abilities,

similar to the idea from both Kirby 64 and Squeak Squad.

The first one we see is the Fire Sword which is closer to the one from Squeak Squad than

Kirby 64.

This allows Kirby to slam the sword into the ground to create a burst of fire that engulfs

the returning Puppet Waddle Dee.

But what's even cooler is that we can see an exclamation appear about Burning Leo before

a series of explosions occurs within that fire.

This could mean that combo attacks are possible leading to a whole new sense of cooperative

gameplay to really show off what everyone could do.

In a way, Burning Leo further enhances the attack.

But another Ability Combination we see is Bomb and Water thanks to Driblee.

This is a brand new combination though as the Water Ability didn't exist in those

previous games.

It's design is also closer to the ideas from Squeak Squad as the bomb is covered in

flowing water, similar to the Ice and Thunder Bombs from that game.

This bomb is certainly effective against these new fire enemies though, taking them out in

a single explosion while also destroying their shields.

Now some of you may be worried that all the combination powers will be a bit more conventional

like they were in Squeak Squad, but that's definitely going to always be the case.

After all, the next Combination Ability we see is thanks to the returning Chilly, who

by the way now sports the frozen hat of Ice Kirby rather than his own cap, merging his

powers with Stone Kirby to form the Curling Stone Ability, back from Kirby 64.

The demonstration of this power shows Kirby being quickly launched ahead to take down

a line of other Chillys, a Cappy, and a set of Kabus.

But just as this scene ends, we can spot Rocky just to right.

It makes that he's here since Stone is obviously an Ability.

But there's more hidden details to this scene.

Slowing it down shows a series of hearts surrounding Kirby as Chilly's animation suggests that

he's actually the one who launches Kirby forward for another team move, much like the

one with Burning Leo.

The Curling Stone is then shown to freeze the enemies while launching them forward.

However, the Cappy somehow avoids being hit by Kirby directly and is instead instantly

destroyed by the ice trail, even becoming a banana health pick-up.

The next scene not only shows that Kirby has the Beam Ability, pretty much guaranteeing

that Waddle Doos are in the game, but it appears that some areas cannot be accessed unless

you have enough partners, something that should be pretty easy to manage.

However, throughout this trailer, every partner has been different so that may actually be

required.

It would make it pretty easy to break through that stone if you could just respawn the same

enemy enough times to fill the quota, but this is Kirby so it may really be that simple.

Maybe the trailer just wants to show off as many Abilities as possible.

Specific Abilities will be required though as you can work together in order to find

secrets.

In this case, an actual player is taking the role of Parasol Waddle Dee, colored yellow

based on Kirby's influence, and using the Parasol Ability to block the flowing water

and allow the fuse to reach the explosive barrels.

But this also indicates each Ability will have some kind of special heart function as

a heart appears as Waddle Dee makes the Parasol extra large.

The question is whether these can be accessed when a player isn't in control.

Will the computer be smart enough to recognize puzzles and help you solve them?

That could even affect what's hidden beneath that loose collection of rocks that's about

to be blown apart.

If computers can work with you for puzzles like this, it could be a hidden door or collectible.

If not, then it's likely an extra life and stars.

But unfortunately, we don't actually get to see it.

The last bit of teamwork we see involves this new platform which allows the team to form

a rolling circle that can jump to collect star as well as instantly destroy any enemy

in their way.

It's nothing too significant, but it does emphasize the team aspect.

And that goes for the fight against Whispy Woods yet again.

He's a staple, you can't escape from the woods.

And he definitely has at least one new attack as we seem him drop tons of apples on the

party though it doesn't seem as if all of them are damaging as the characters lose very

little health, especially compared to Whispy himself.

More interesting is the final set of Abilities shown during this fight.

Wester returns meaning Whip Kirby does as well while Kirby himself has the Hammer Ability,

likely implying that Bonkers is back as a mid-boss.

However, there might also be some new enemy since we don't know for sure that mid-bosses

can be recruited as allies.

Kirby's Hammer is also imbued with Water meaning that there's another combination

closer to Squeak Squad.

But let's return to Wester really quick.

The chaos of the scene makes it hard to see, but there is a small change to Wester's

design as his hat now has blue stars around it, just like Kirby with the Whip Ability.

More importantly, Wester's Whip has been combined with Spark implying that not only

is Sparky back as an enemy, but your allies can combine their special abilities as well.

It's not something that only Kirby can do.

In fact, even Sir Kibble's Cutter has been combined with Fire to create a Fire Cutter.

However, we wouldn't be surprised if these combinations can only happen when playing

with friends.

Speaking of combinations, Fire and Cutter should have made the Sword of Fire from Kirby

64, but that may have been deemed redundant for this game since we already have the Fire

Sword.

After all, the Sword Ability wasn't in Kirby 64.

But Abilities from that game likely will make an appearance.

There were only seven main ones in that game: Burning (or Fire), Ice, Spark, Cutter, Bomb,

Stone, and Needle.

All of these except for Needle have been shown in Kirby for the Switch so we could definitely

see other returning combinations besides the Curling Stone.

Could we even combine Spark and Cutter to form the Double-Blade Laser Sword once again?

And will we see other unique combinations that form something brand new or will most

of the new ones be more along the lines of Squeak Squad's Fire Sword, Ice Bomb, Ice

Sword, Thunder Bomb, and Thunder Sword?

So far, that is the more common type of combination.

While we've only been shown the basics so far, there's a lot of potential to Kirby

on the Switch.

Popular ideas from past games are returning with new twists and possibilities.

And who knows what other ideas the developers will concoct?

We personally can't wait to see more of this game.

Of course, if we missed anything, let us know in the comments.

BTS w/ Kira Kosarin & Jack Griffo on 'Thunder in Paradise' | The Thundermans | Nick - Duration: 2:33.

What's up, guys?

Jack and Kira here.

We are on location, shooting the awesome, amazing "Thundermans"

special.

It's pretty epic.

[INAUDIBLE] evil.

He's got to stop me from taking over the world, which

is super weird.

JACK GRIFFO: There's going to be stunts.

KIRA KOSARIN: There's dark mayhem.

JACK GRIFFO: There's a 4-wheeler chase.

KIRA KOSARIN: There's a fight on the sand.

All sorts of stuff.

Check it out.

Yeah.

I'll never be like you.

Huh.

I'll be worse.

You hear that, Griffo?

What's up, guys? Jack and Kira here.

- We're taking-- - What's up, guys?

Jack and Kira here. - Sorry.

Hold on.

Thanks for hanging in--

See?

It's not just me.

Sorry.

We're on location for the first time ever.

So being outside in the--

KIRA KOSARIN: We're exposed to the elements,

and they are powerful.

Action, everybody.

You OK, buddy?

I think so.

From the day we started this show,

we said we want to do an episode where Max is good

and Phoebe is cruel.

And for years we asked, and we finally got it.

Four and a half years later. We're so happy.

We made it.

Oh, I'm sorry guys.

But this is a bad time, for you.

Wow.

Great luau.

My favorite part of the special is the luau scene.

It's really beautiful.

And we're all together.

And we get to hula dance at the end.

We should show them the hula.

Wait, what was our hula dance?

What was-- oh, yeah.

So today at the hotel, we are shooting the arrival scenes,

once we get to the resort.

Zach, go check in so I can get to the beach

and introduce the ladies to these big kahunas.

The 4-wheel scene, dude.

The 4-wheeler scene was awesome.

We had to chase.

We had a whole rig of 4-wheelers to look like we're

riding in the close-ups.

KIRA KOSARIN: They had us on the actual 4-wheelers,

and then on this rig that made it look like we were riding--

JACK GRIFFO: So we could get our close-up.

It was so fun.

It was a good time.

That was so awesome.

It's like a roller coaster but more fun

because you don't know where you're going

or when the bugs are coming.

What was amazing.

I can't wait to see how it looks.

Ow.

Thanks for hanging out with us here in paradise.

We can't wait for you guys to see this epic episode.

(TOGETHER) Aloha.
