Hi everyone!
It's another long 4-day weekend in France
And we are leaving Paris again
Actually it's quite uncommon for Parisians
to stay in Paris during long weekends or holidays
lots of them leave Paris
As for us, we are going to Normandy
and I'm taking you with us, let's go!
There's a horse in there ^^
aaand we're already stuck in traffic
cuz yeah yeah all Parisians thought of the same thing as us
and are on their way north
many of them actually have sort of
summer/vacation houses in Normandy
so every time there is a long weekend or vacations
they go there right away
We are approaching a toll road
you can see the special thing
where you must pay a fee to proceed on the highway
it's crazy how many cars are here
just waiting for our turn...
a French city Rouen
I've already said in one of my previous videos
that in France there are no commercial banners
along roads
You can see only road signs, social advertisments
Or the same kind of signs you can see to the right
which indicate what famous location you are passing by
We've already arrived
and now we are on our way to the sea
The sea is quite cold here
but still really beautiful
look at this stunning house!
it was on sale not long ago
but it's been already bought..
You can see the sea over theeeeere
Right in between two hills
those two hills..
and right in between them there's the sea!
let's get closer
Those are the lime rocks cliffs I already showed last year
and here is the beach
by the way, see where the gravel starts?
During high tide water gets up to this level
at this moment the tide is the lowest
and the sea is aaaall the way over there
there, where you can see super tiny people
that's where the sea starts
and all this is usually covered with water
we came with you from there
you can clearly see the two hills
and a path in between
If you decide to go to Normandy one day
be aware of the tides
because they can change from low to high really fast
don't get stuck on a deserted beach
surrounded by the sea at high tide!
cuz you simply won't be able to get out yourself
the next morning
Good morning friends
it's already Friday
I arrived by the end of breakfast
that's what the sea air does to those who live in big cities
it makes you wanna sleep
too much oxygen for unprepared city folk
let's see what the French eat for breakfast
croissants...
here we got pain au raisin [raisin bread]
it's snail-shaped and has raisins inside
and here is pain au chocolat
[roll with some chocolate inside]
they usually put fruit jams
like those ones
on the croissants
or eat them plain
If i haven't mentioned it previously
classical French croissants
come empty
in Russia it's common to buy croissants
with stuffing inside -
cheese, caramel, strawberry jam
you name it, we got it
here classical croissants consit just...
..well..of croissants ^^
and the FRench get surprised when they learn
that in Russia croissants have something inside already
Abd those are traditional French table napkins
they use textile napkins rather than paper ones
and those thingies are used
to hold a napkin together
and to know whose it is
we arrived to a city called Dieppe
and it's already 3pm so we decided to have lunch
we chose the same place as last year
if you are interested I will leave a link to a last year's video
it was a two-part vlog
and the reason why we chose the same place is
cuz it is hard to find a place open after 2pm
due to the sacred French tradition
to have lunch between midday and 2 pm
past that time most restaurants are closed
because it is not worth it to keep it open and pay the personnel
the most you can get before dinner time is drinks
we took the exact same thing as last year
moules-frites [mussels with fries]
mine are in the sauce of mushrooms and pieces of bacon
and what do you have?
-with sour cream right? -yup, with sour cream
the parasols got blown away
right above the tables where you had people
And here is the harbor of Dieppe
this sign says that betwwen 1669 and 1673
more than 770 young women were shipped off
to Quebec that is now a Canadian province
there were shipped off because of the decree passed by the king Louis XIV
the famous Sun King
to get married over there and help populate the New World
those women became known as "king's daughters"
and more than 600 out of 770 left from Dieppe
from this very exit
which was one of the few
exists/entrances to the fortress that surrounded Dieppe
Mint ice-cream
On the beaches you often see those cabins
inside which you can change
to be more precise, you need to rent them
and you can even store your stuff there later
or your change clothes, or those kinda chairs
birthday celebration and cakes
Thanks for watching! See you soon xx Masha
